Great find! Especially it being free, as well! Now hit a jump with it
Absolute base model New Yorker.... basically nothing more than a Dynasty with a different grille and taillight lenses. And of course another victim of ethanol gas fouling the fuel delivery system. Usually, it was the transmission failing early that knocked these cars out of commission. Always liked the power the 3.3 made, nice low end torque.
I think it's a testament to the build quality of the engine that it started and ran without too much trouble, even though it's clear this example was... unloved.
Looks like a Dynasty, but maybe the Salon and the Dynasty shared a lot of similarities. The whole fleet was basically on the K Car platform, which makes it amazing just how plush the ride is in the New Yorker. I have a 1993 New Yorker 5th Avenue, the last of its kind and it's like riding on a cloud. I wish it had about 30-40 more HP, but in a car like that, I can't complain.
Hell yeah, love these cars! This New Yorker has been my daily driver. It runs amazing and yeah definitely plush!
Those 3.3s are pretty solid engines. The transmissions are weak, but if this one is driving well I'd say you got your money's worth. Running/driving car for less than $500 all in. Congrats!
Nice! Yeah, I think I'll drive it till the wheels fall off haha I save about 200 a month driving it compared to my k2500. Beater with a heater!!
I bought an '85 Trans Am that had a Crown Royal bag for a shifter boot
It has the better V6 too, The cast iron 3.3 was much better than the Mitsubishi 3.0 all aluminum engine. The 3.0 would run very smooth but it was notorious for smoking due to seized rings.
wish we could’ve heard the subs
Lemme guess..transmission issues?
No actually! Transmission is great, it lost fuel pressure. Was a pretty easy fix
Crown Royal bags lol
I use them for everything! lol, they come in handy for sure.
