ah that's probably why I like watching other people do stuff too. heard some scientists call it reward hacking, free dopamine boost with none of the effort.
I used to have a neighbor that painted cars in his garage. I loved watching him take a pile of junk and transform it into something desirable. The world needs more like you.
I think that car likes you and did not put up any struggle at all to get back on her wheels. With such demure lines, fine details and amazing character she's sure to make whomever drives her very happy.
@@mcgaugh57 Are you freaking kidding me!?! That transmission, the 727 was and still is considered one of the best and most durable transmissions EVER!.
Well...she gave him a little bit of a struggle at the very beginning but she perked right up once he brought her home. It made her feel like he really loved her once he did that so she did her very best to start up for Alex with as little effort from him as possible. It was her way of telling him, I love you too.
Growing up, we had a red 1963 Dodge Dart convertible that had a push button transmission. Passengers thought that was so strange 🙂. No power steering. All 4 of us girls drove it through high school and my youngest sister took it to U of Texas in the 80s. Dad replaced the original bench front seat with bucket seats which I think was a boneheaded move. One of my younger sisters has it and it still runs! Those things were made to last. A little skimpy on safety features, though.
I think my favorite thing about you Alex is you like cool things like I do, and you make me remember beautiful things from the past and family that is not with me now..
The car cleaned up nicely. Some radio delete plates are quite valuable to car restorers since most cars came with radios, making them rather scarce. Motorcraft 10W-30 diesel oil is good for vintage cars since it contains zinc which is needed for the non-roller lifters. It's a good idea to cover the alternator with a plastic bag when washing an engine.
What I like the most about you is that you don´t hide anything, you show all the job you do to the products before you sell them! Greetings from Argentina
I just love the way you bring back life to cars, house, cloth, books and toys, gives me a glimpse into the past I really appreciate it, thank you.❤️❤️🇯🇲👍👍
My top tip for polishing chrome is to use aluminium/aluminum foil, just wash the chrome down and then rub the foil on with a little water. I'm in the UK and have a mini, morris 1000 and a triumph herald and it works a treat and protects it a lot better than expensive products. It's like magic! would love to see more classics!
I remember my grandfather having a car like this riding around with him and my grandmother. I was 6 years old at the time I'm still remember this memories thanks
My Grandfather and Father had new ones when I was little!!!!! My Grandfather had a Rosewood Metallic 4 door hardtop and my Father had a Light Metallic Blue 2 door Hardtop!!!! By 1971 both cars were gone from the family!!!!!!!! I still love those memories of both of those 1964 Chryslers!!!!!!!
I remember when I first learned to drive I was told, " Count 5 seconds while trying to start the engine. Short cranking easier on the battery. " 1964 ancient history.
I had to hit the starter motor on my Mini with the handle of a hammer straight down between other bits of the engine if mine wouldn’t start - worked every time !
I never knew until.. maybe 5yrs ago and I did the exact thing he did. I bought a hardly running car.. it was rough! But it was mostly from just being dirty!
imagine being Alex's neighbor here never a dull moment with the cars he has lol coming and going personally i would love seeing the old cars all the time
I'm in love ♥ Next to the house clean outs .... your old and forgotten car refurbs are my favorite types of videos. This lovely old gal turned out beautiful and she sounds pretty darn good for being 58. I should know .. it's my birth year as well 😁
We do need normal and. Sweet and kind and positive. That’s why I love this channel and all the nice people I wish I lived closer to that make this like a modern day Mayberry.
Your passion for these old cars is so encouraging. I know you will sell it quickly and be ready for the next one....love watching your channel....variety is the spice of life
As a watcher of the Detail Geek in Saskatchewan, all I can think of is what he'd do. Use Iron Decontamination spray, wheel brush to remove blooming, Aerospace 303 for the interior plastics...he'd have a field day with this 57 year old classic.
I'm pretty sure my grandmother had a black New Yorker when I was 4 or 5 years old. That was 1964, '65. That's a nice looking car. I love your energy and work ethic. You and your wife are such positive examples for your children.
Alex you really have the magic touch with vehicles!! That car 🚙 is stunning! It brings back some old memories!! I hope you get a decent price for it if you decide to sell it!
By now it shouldn’t amaze me, but it still does! You did an incredible job in getting the car looking and running well! It wouldn’t surprise me if you got an offer or two on it in the next few days.
You've done a great job on the old lady there, Alex. She looks beautiful! It's hard for me to imagine now, but back when I was sixteen I was able to crawl under my '64 New Yorker to change out the starter. 😁 I am amazed to learn how cheap the parts are for it even today. I wish I had the funds to be able to make an offer on your New Yorker from here in the US, but perhaps there is someone younger and nearer to your driveway who might consider driving around in a beautiful and artsy looking ride for the next several years. 😉
Love the oldies where you can fix them yourself. Thank you for sharing. It is a pretty car. Good work! Yes, I agree the house comes first. These are all memories . Take photos with the FAM and keep moving forward.
The pushbuttons light up with the running lights looking so cool. Those lazy slant 6 engines go and go. I had a Dart 1964 - golden anniversary edition, very similar. Great memories for me
Bought several 64 dodge darts with that push button Automatic trans. "Got kind of obsessed with them for a time." Never had any problems at all with the transmissions, no leaks ever. Unbelievable.
That's when a car was a car. You could tell what a car was from a distance. Now all the cars look the same. I had a 1964 Chrysler Newport with the push button gears. Loved it!! You did a great job cleaning that up. Its gorgeous. Classic cars are pieces of rolling art!
Hi, I really enjoy your video I've been following you for quiet some time now and really admire you're passion towards keeping the antiquities alive. I'm also a antique collector and enjoy it very much..my honest opinion on this car is that you should keep it and pass it on to your children its a beautiful car not that it is really rare but it is a nice car worth keeping. Best of luck with it please keep making videos and God bless you and your family.
I swear Alex can turn just about anything into a huge profit. I like the older cars because they are much easier to work on then the ones they have now. The old Chrysler's were built good and lasted a long time.
Very nice it looks fantastic after all these years and the interior fabric is cool ! I hope you have or build a nice big garage in your next house for you to work in
I love that you call this a “little” car. When I learned to drive in 1967, we had a “little” 8 passenger Olds Vista Cruiser station wagon. We also had an old Rambler station wagon with a push button transmission that my father bought off of a fellow US Navy sailor when we were all living in Morocco. Later I had fun driving it on our ranch in California.
Looks great! My dad was a mechanic and always bringing home some sort of car that needed a little help. He had a big ole boat Chrysler that was probably the most comfortable car I've ever ridden in.
My uncle had a 63 Newport which was the same body with a 383 2 barrel. That thing could really go, and it got about 18 MPG on the highway, not bad for the day. I loved that car.
I drove a Chrysler 300 1965 for two years. Sell it before it breaks! Mine was aka The Beast. Your engine sound brought back some memories! No radio on mine either but someone had put a huge stereo system in the trunk, which sounded great until I realized it drained the battery in roughly 5 minutes. My power windows were broken, which was fun in a California summer. No A/C. Once someone drove into it at full speed. The bumper had a tiny ding after that. Their Toyota was totalled. Beast = Tank.
I had a 62 Dodge Custom 880 that had a push button transmission. My first car and I loved the pull up door handles. I also loved the huge trunk I could put my bicycle and everything I owned in it. Your Chrysler looks amazing!
that was so satisfying watching you clean that car and making it come back to life! thanks for your videos! enjoy them so much. yes excited for a new house for you with some space for your big projects!
Awesome! Just awesome! I also found all aspects of your working on this car satisfying. It garnered memories too. We had a dodge dart, push button. You did a fabulous job! Kudos to you!
Those old Buicks Oldsmobiles and Chryslers were built to last. I am happy you were able to give that car new life.
Sitting watching you do jobs makes me feel like my jobs are getting done - if only that were so !
After your fixing it’s a beautiful car!
ah that's probably why I like watching other people do stuff too. heard some scientists call it reward hacking, free dopamine boost with none of the effort.

You brought her back to life! She’s beautiful!

Those were throw away cars that have horrible trannys.
@@mcgaugh57 Thanks for sharing!
@@mcgaugh57 Are you being sarcastic? The Torqueflight 727 is one of the worlds best transmissions ever.

I think of my Dad too. His favorite car was a Buick and his WW2 Willys Jeep. Otherwise I don’t usually watch guys repair cars!! LOL
Watching you pressure-wash the inside and clean the grime off the hood was very satisfying!
I was thinking the same thing...I was hoping to see more of that!
When I was little, our car had push buttons. I took them off and switched them around. Boy, did I get into trouble.
I bet...😂😂🤣😂😂♥️🇨🇦♥️
How funny! 🤣🤣🤣
What a joy you must have been to your parents! You made me actually laugh aloud!
Oh No! My first car had push button shift. Loved it! I had just graduated high school and needed a car to get to work.
That is FUNNY. 🥰🤣🤣🤣
Alex, as a restorer of old dead abandoned Fords, I think you did an awesome job on the New Yorker.. Sweet Ride, my friend!

Alexander; as a senior female, I actually enjoyed following along on this adventure. Reminded me of the days working with my dad on our cars.

If I lived next to Alex, I would have my theater seating facing the window and just watching what comes home with Alex and Melissa. Love this channel
My first car was a 1972 Chrysler New Yorker! I loved that car. I paid 50 bucks for it. Drove it for four years and sold it for $500.
I had a New Yorker too. 440 engine with a 4 barrel Harley. Loved that car, nobody passed me! Lol
@Randall Johnson 😂😂 Oops. 4 barrel holley ...but do like Harleys too.
I also paid $50.00 for my first car, a 1963 Fury, and I still have her. It will be 40 years next year.
You’re a driven man! lol I admire your hard work❤️🌿
I try
There was never any doubt that you would get that car looking as good as new. I hope you make bank on it Alex.🚘$$

I'm so excited it drives. This rumbling beauty belongs on the road! I would definitely keep it.
Another revived Classic! Thanks Alex for always seeing the "Glass Half Full"!!!!
hoping next house has a massive pole barn so you can have your small fleet (or large) of rescued cars! Thanks for another fun video.
My son turned a pole barn into a massive garage with a party porch on the side. He has motorcycles, a camper, golf cart, and other boy toys.
They used to take this long to start sometimes in cold weather, even when they were brand new! My parents bought one of these new for just over $1700.
Anybody else find the power washing strangely satisfying? Ha!
Yes yes yes
Right??? Absolutely!!! I could have watched that for hours!! Lol
I find it baffling. Adding high pressure water to an electrical system before diagnosing the problem make little sense to me.
Why yes, yes I did too...
Check of The Detail Geek channel on UA-cam 😉 Soooo satisfying
I remember when I first learned to drive I was told, " Count 5 seconds while trying to start the engine. Short cranking easier on the battery. " 1964 ancient history.
How can it be ancient history when I remember it so well? Haha!
Long cranking times can also overheat the starter.
I had to hit the starter motor on my Mini with the handle of a hammer straight down between other bits of the engine if mine wouldn’t start - worked every time !
Lol!
@@lynnedelacy2841 The brushes in the starter were probably about worn out.

I don't do that anymore. Something always goes haywire after that. If it is not water in the distributor it is a shorting out alternator.
It truly cleaned up great 👍. Can't beat a old American Classic 💖

@sᴀᴠɪᴏᴜʀ ᴍᴀᴄʜɪɴᴇ you are probably referring to Highway hi-fi. Probably not since you would be able to see the wiring and mounting points.
A true enthusiast didn’t need a radio back in the day. Just the sounds of the engine was enough 😃
