Fantastic info. For the gap between the pad and the disc it would have been good to hear a mention like: "a regular drawing paper sheet should be able to move between them freely but if you have three sheets then that's too big of a gap." I'll be sure to test mine the soonest I can. From getting my first 500km on my scooter I've definitely noticed some loosening on the brake department already.
I went from never stopping (only slowing down with stock brakes) to wheel burn (I now have to put my weight on the back to brake because it is so strong). Thank you very much for this very informative video. I learn many things and my stock brakes are working much much better.
Brilliant video mate. It's perfect timing as I'm currently having a bit of an issue with the motor over running and the brakes not being as responsive. Thank you! Best video I've found on this. This video was simple, explanatory and easy to follow! Been nervous driving my Xiaomi cause the brakes have been too loose and the first video I've tried to follow just made things worse. Following this vid made me able to understand what different parts of the caliper does and so when I was to adjust my brake I knew how to go back and readjust to get it all perfect. Now I can screech with my back tire 😉 10/10 WOULD RECOMEND!

For that matter I also would like to know how to get a replacement spring inside the brake unit. Without having to pay for a new brake system for a piece of rubber and spring. Thanks

Hey man, really enjoying your xiaomi videos! Will you make a video bout changing the tires to 10" on pro 2. I am a heavy guy 6,4 tall and 108kg, want my pro 2 to do best with my weight and all. Thank you
Hi! There are videos already on YT about changing to 10s. I’m on the stock ones with no issues. Maintain the pressure to around 45psi. 10s are more comfortable and easier to change. You could do what I done and put the front suspension on and just keep the stock tyres? Makes a massive difference!
Greetings! Could you please do a guide on how to adjust the brakes on the new 4 pro model? The mechanism is similar but also quite different. There are 2 moveable brakes instead of 1, and pulling the brake cable doesn’t seem to do anything. I tried adjusting everything myself, but no luck, and scooters are not popular where I live, so I can’t take it to a repair shop, because nobody can or wants to do it. Please 🙏 this is urgent. I want to safely ride my scooter.
Hi. Do you have an idea why is my brakelight not flashing when i press brake(any of the 2 handle) on my Xiaomi Pro 2(when i turn on light, is turning on, but not flashing on brake)? Can be related to firmware?(Germany) Thanks
@@Movelectrics @RayS Tech-Know-logy i've tryed an app called German Maneuver. This change region to Europe(up to 25km/h) until i shut down the scooter(power button). When i start it again is comming back to german version. So in Europe mode, brake light is working and it blinks. So i guess that this is how it should be in Germany....
Assuming no cruse control - for the 1st half of the brake lever, does it engage Kers/regenerative braking? Or does it just stop throttle if you have applied it? 1st half electric brake, 2nd half engage disc brake? Or, do both activate at 2nd half? Basically, what does the first half of the brake lever do - Re-gen/Kers/Electronic Brake OR just prevents throttle (is this what you mean by it cuts the motor??)? Sorry for the detailed question haha, its really bugging me!
Hi Habs. Great question! If you have no cruise control activated and you are driving the scooter, as soon as you let go of the accelerator, the front regen brake kicks in. The first half of the brake does nothing unless you have your brakes adjusted to engage as soon as you pull the leaver. The problem with doing that is the front regen brake won’t engage at the same time resulting in the front motor possible getting burnt out by continuing to move until the sensor in the leaver arm engages it to stop (which also turns on the back brake light) The sweet spot is the half way point, brake leaver is used and at the same time, the front regen brake is used resulting in better braking plus less chance of burning out anything. When the back light flashed, the pads should be hitting the disk and the front motor stopping. I would also recommend to make sure you have your regen braking set to weak to avoid issues like a burnt controller/motor via the app. Remember to never go down a hill fast either on a full charge as that can burn the controller inside.
@@Movelectrics planning on removing the freewheel regen with CFW at somepoint. Will report back here what the front half of brake does when free wheeling and if it ends up slowing down. I feel like there must be some small amount electronic braking in the first half of lever as you can hear a whine, but wont know till disabling coasting regen. Perhaps it is just a motor cut out. Wont be for a while though while I get use to the handling! I wonder how many lives you might save helping people maintain their Scoots. Would love to find out about tightening the screw/bolt next to the clamp (eitherside) In a future video! Keep it up!
Be careful disabling the front regen brake, it’s good to have more stopping power. I done videos already about the folding mechanism and adjusting correctly plus the installation of the X-lock.
Hi, I have a brand new Pro 2 and a “rubbing”, “scratching” noise is coming from the rear wheel every time it rotates around ( it is not constant). The more wieght is on the scooter the louder the noise is. The wheel rotates freely when in the air. Do you think it is a brake or bearing issue?
I gave this a shot, followed step by step, but I still can't figure out how to make the left pad move any closer, and despite tightening everything and pulling the cable, my brake handle still goes down all the way (and now has a kind of creaking sound to it). Any suggestions?
Hi Marc Start over. Loosen the whole caliper (2 small bolts on top) Squeeze the handle until the caliper is squeezed against the disc AND tighten while the lever is still pulled. This will align it. Next step, adjust the back caliper like I did in the video and get it close to the disc. Next step, adjust the cable to push in the front pad close to the disc. Remember to loosen where the cable is first to give it slack before pulling it to push the pad in. Tighten everything back then. Is this a new scooter or have you had it a while?
@@Movelectrics Thanks for the response. I did as suggested, but it still takes almost the whole squeeze to get a stop, and the part of the assembly that rotates forward is almost touching now, despite the cable being pulled as tight as I can get it. I've had the scooter two years now, and most of that time it's been cranked up a little, a friend has it go up to 28km/hr, but I do a lot of city riding that can end up with a bunch of stops and starts. Hi Barry. Never had to do it. I’d imagine after long time use, they would need to be changed. Just keep them adjusted, and try not to pull hard on the leaver 🛴
You have to undo the plastic bottom plate and also the controller because the cable is routed behind it. Also there is some kind of waterproof foam in the frame tube so it's propably best to put some sealant after you replace the brake cable. It's not that difficult to do but time consuming. The foam is weird stuff reminds me of polyurethane but it's spongy and elastic.
