The "babyface" cuts a blah promo on the "heel" to silence, and the heel only needs to say a swear word to get much bigger cheers. The cheap pop is the way to go in AEW
The heels just sound more natural. Look how bland and boring swerve has sounded since he became a full on babyface
Heels are babyfaces in AEW. They should just lean into it and make everyone heels. BCC are literally just that, they are heels then heel faces then back again depending on the opponent and the AEW crowd loves them.

It's silly for a wrestler to try to do a "real" promo against a wrestler with a stupid dumb fake gimmick. It can't be taken serious

The Mercedes Mone promo later on was even worse.
I was shocked to find out Deeb is only 37, i legitimately thought she was in her mid to late 40's.
She’s too skinny, makes her looks gaunt. Gaining 20 pounds would go a long way

Serena should be in the same role Natalya is currently in. A seasoned veteran used to help get young talent over and help train people. Cause she can work. This sympathetic babyface role Tony's throwing her in isn't working for her.
Brian’s “ooh boy” comment was exactly what I said watching the promo.
I felt bad for her as well...she had something serious to spell out for people and because she didnt get to it right away or in an elevated presence, she lost the little fans she had on her side after 1 minute in and she still didnt get to the seisure part and by then, it was just off and she was never really able to get it back or have it serve its purpose at all. Regardless of a bad promo, everyone I am sure still wishes the best for her. No one likes a 'poor me' anyways...*cough cough* Mercedes Mone

Serena Deeb is great in the ring, but the promo was "cringe" as it can be. The AEW Women's division is clueless.😩
I mean they said they don't need a developmental system "It's better to unbind the creative shackles, so they can be free to use their creativity".

I’m not sure why everyone seems to have missed this, but the two women messed up the order of their statements. What was clearly supposed to happen was that Toni Storm was supposed to say “I don’t give a shit“ and then Serena was supposed to reply. “well, you better start giving a shit.” They screwed it up and said it in the wrong order! Lol!
Serena did a terrible promo, it was bad, and they should never have her do one ever again, it was very bad. No wonder she is not a superstar, she can not do a promo.
She should be part of a group with someone who can work the mic like someone on the level of punk
Serena is the Natalya of AEW.

"You don't know me" was the highlight of Shafir's career. Legendary bad and she was wearing her little straw hat, she became immortal with this thing.

That whole gimmick with Toni ran its course quicker than everyone expected
It lasted more than 6 weeks. It's gone on far too long.
TNA teaches women how to cut promos. The best talker is Tasha Steelz. She would destroy MJF on the mic. After her is Rosemary, because she unlike any other wrestler uses unique verbiage that fits her character.
Tna is the standard for American women’s wrestling and always will be
I don't watch much TNA. But I love Joe Hendry 😂😂. That concert he did a couple weeks ago was great. He buried Top Dolla so effortlessly.

This was the most awkward promo I have seen in a while, ad there's plenty of them. It was like she was looking towards the crowd for some kind of validation after every sentence and the awkward silence did no help.

I remember even back in SHIMMER Serena on the mic was the biggest argument against giving her the belt. Good matches with Sara del Rey, Mischif and...was it Portia Perez? Whatever, she was training Davina Rose, who became Bailey then, Serena was.

okay, I have to watch it, sounds like a classic.
I have a recipe for Creamy Pesto salad dressing, made famous by Old Spaghetti Factory.
1 cup mayo
1 cup whole milk or half and half
1-2tsp of lemon juice
2 tablespoon of dried basil
2 tablespoon garlic powder(adjust to taste)
1/2 cup fresh grated parmesean
generous salt pinch
combine lemon juice and milk, let stand till curdled(bout 5 min) then mix in mayo, grated cheese, and spices. let it rest for about 2 hours in the fridge and enjoy!
What kind of greens? I'm hearts of Romaine man myself. Sometimes will add some Baby lettuce if i'm feeling reallly wild and crazy

Deeb as a babyface is such tone deaf booking. She was effective as a heel against Shida and they really thought to make her a sympathetic babyface. Crazy

This is one of the few AEW moments I've caught recently. I, too, have always liked Serena. The promo worked for me. I'm interested that Serena is featured on the show in the first place. She imparted the reasons for her absence and return. Her perhaps-nervous interaction with the audience gave her real person authenticity befitting of a babyface on the cusp of a perilous crusade. It's not necessary for every promo to be Godzilla faultlessly articulated.
If she did want coaching on the mic, I'd nominate Christian as the do-right man.

The women's division was doomed when they said let Riho beat that overweight man in a lace front for the women's title when the company first began.
2:32 "What has happened now? Toni is supposed to top women's division...Underling is a babyface, Toni a heel..." Mariah inevitably will end up turning on her "idol" and take her championship. Right, wrong, or otherwise...you asked and I'm explaining.

Who wrote the promos for the Knockouts in TNA back when they were good? Maybe get that staff in to help AEW women?
I think it was Dutch who booked the women during prime knockouts divison. But I don’t think Tna “wrote promos” but anyway Tna just had crazy talent like Angelina love Mickie James Tara and of course Gail Kim and let them be wrestle and/or be sexy. And gave them gimmicks who si the equivalent of an ODB I miss her actin a fool lol

Maybe I'm losing my mind, but I liked this segment because of Toni's sell. I can't get enough Toni Storm. Her gimmick isn't just my favorite wrestling gimmick of all time, but it's my favorite form of entertainment of all time, period.

I agree with Brian here: Serena Deeb's a really good wrestler, not a good talker. This segment proved that in spades.

The Toni Storm thing is obvious because TK likes to recycle storylines while they're still going. Toni will be embarrassed for a week or two and then will get a big revenge. Also, Mariah and Mia will wind up turning in her within the next few weeks and that will be a 2 to 3 week long feud as well ---See Swerve Storyarc

Serena does work as a sympathetic Babyface and you could tell she felt out of place in this. Now I didn't know about the seizures which, explains why she was gone so long, but it doesn't help her case in this. The only saving grace was she clocked Toni Storm good, but I don't see her winning now, even if she is the best in-ring talent they have for the women.

Serena Deeb is quite possibly one of the worst promos I have ever heard, consistently. Every time she has ever had a promo on AEW, it has been dreadful and painful to watch.

I don't watch AEW anymore but when i did Serena was nothing special. Very bland, no character. So this doesn't shock me. She will never ever sell one ticket. She just doesn't have the star look or voice.

Overrated
To be honest..and anyone can comment if they agree..but TNA is a better show than aew. The storylines make sense..the booking is not hop skotch like Tony's booking. Solid promos is done by both the women and the men. They just need a bigger network to get higher viewership. Because if they was on a bigger network than AXS... I guarantee you they would do better ratings than aew. Aew is just not cutting it right now with this booking man smh.
TNA has 3 issues. 1) Their lolTNA moments in the past from which they can't seemingly recover 2) If they recover and gain momentum they do a lolTNA 3) It's mid. Their presentation feels so mid and the small crowds don't help either.
With that being said I like watching TNA. Nothing there annoys me or actually angers me. They have people on the roster that I like watching and care about. Their storylines do make sense. Their are sometimes barebone and often simple but it doesn't have to be Shakespear, it's wrestling. I rather take mid TNA than wtfAEW any time.
I agree with that sentiment. Most of the venues they book are small to mid size. I know before Scott D'amore was let go..he said the goal going forward was to start booking bigger venues. But for where aew is right now, I like TNA little better. Heck..TNA from circa 05-2010 blows away aew. To me right now..aew is like wcw circa 91-94 when they were struggling to get over and was on the verge of potentially closing up. They definitely are not the wcw from 95-98.
