Nice one! We always used to 'shoot the moon' one week before, if the sky permitted (if you could see power lines it was light enough) as the ducks had not changed their 'habits' as they do under the full moon. Also everyone and their dog turns up on a full moon. Going out to Lindisfarne (Holy Island) pos next week to decoy some wigeon and teal in the afternoon. My son drops me off on the way to work. Bit lonley by yourself as all of my fowling mates have given up through ill health; but you meet a few fowlers inc Sir Johnny Scott two years ago.

That's a good idea about phases of the moon. I always try to line it up so the moon is rising at 2-3 o clock in the afternoon, but I am relative novice to all this. Im lucky enough in that most of the areas I hunt are private (not that's a good thing generally) but at least I can pick my spot. I hope to go to Lindesfarne one day. Good luck!

@@jackbrooks2272 they don’t always come into this pond but there are huge wintering numbers locally. I hunt them with a pointer and a falcon/or gun. They are a good alarm call for the flight starting as it’s uncanny how often the ducks come 5 minutes after you hear the snipe going over.
