Not bad at all. I flew the 787 for 7 years, 4000 hrs. We are children of the green balls now 😂
i still cant believe cw lemoine is a 787 pilot, like wow
Why not?
@@CWLemoine i remember when you were still talking about not flying for the airline anymore due to covid and whatnot (if i remember correctly, of course). At some stage it seemed like it was going a little rough on your side. You seemingly came far from where you were back then
I don't think of the airlines as necessarily good or bad. It's a job, not my identity. I voluntarily took a leave of absence from the airlines to pursue other ventures, and I hope to one day be able to leave forever.
@@CWLemoine yeah i think its epic that youre now a 787 pilot
@@CWLemoine can i ask how many flight hours you have in your logbook?
Congrats with the new type rating
No tail strike, nice job, thank you for this one Mover69 heavy, can't wait for the next flight.
Congratulations on completing your training for the 78. Special shoutout to Luna for supporting you during your entire training. 🐶
Nice! I like it! I rrun the PDMG 737-800 full fidelity, took lessons from MentourPilot (Petter Hörnfeldt) who is a licensed pilot and instructor. I really like how real it feels doing every single step with it, even from checking where the techlog would be when you get in. Love your content, keep it coming!
There are unusual voice artifacts throughout the video when atc is talking or I am losing my mind.
Regardless, entertaining video as always.
Not losing your mind, as I was hearing it, too. Thought it was just my slow internet buffering.
@@INOD-2 I have plenty of bandwidth and 45s of buffered data and still have that. Not the first time I hear that stuff on some UA-camr' video. Doesn't happen often but it does. It seems like it's at recording time, not at playback time on the plateforme.
Cool to see you learning the sim I have been doing the same for ATP flight school.
Love the enthusiasm in the voice while getting airborne, that true love of flying right there. Something tells me the cash, having a bathroom, better inflight catering and nice hotels makes an ex FJ driver happy enough to suffer the change.
Hell yea! Are we going to get a video of you talking about your path to the 787?
Agree this would interesting
lol Gonky won that drag race, and proceeded to take your gate
seems like MSFT needs guys like you to help them tighten up their sim (same with DCS)
DCS has to have a public source for the function of aircraft systems. They are not allowed to just hire former pilots to tell them how systems work; that would put them at risk of indirectly using classified data. There was an interview on this channel involving WAGS from ED that made some references to it, but it's also a well-known restriction in the community.
Very happy you have rejoined the work force even if you are a semi retired heavy machine operator. And I’m sure Luna will be very happy to see you when you get back from a trip. Hopefully you can get some reasonable lines and get some racing in. You’re good at it.
Congrats on the type rating. Now you have an airliner with a HUD, it's time for some high-ACA flight-show stuff... :D
Congratulations on your type rating, Mover!
Six niner heavy😂 so to speak😂 congratulations Mover on the new rating. Cool video.
VATSIM? Live ATC. Congrats on the type rating. (The only problem with VATSIM is sometimes the controller will sign off ..... but they let you know)
Nice I’ve been flying the 737-800 Zibo in Xplane12
Now if we can have Airforceproud95 as ATC it’ll be perfect
Funny how flying has come down to FMC programming. Which is why I fly cold war jets in a sim, otherwise it feels like work.
+1 for the XP12 test
If you keep making MSFS/Xplane content, Pilot Edge might be a good option for a better ATC experience.
Pilot Edge is such a small area though.
yeah, that's true. It's not bad if you get both coverage areas. Having paid and trained human ATC on the sim is hard to beat though. Worth trying at least.
"What is the PilotEdge coverage area?
PilotEdge is split into two operating areas covering the majority of the western US. The first is the area served by the Los Angeles ARTCC which we refer to as ZLA. The second is the area served by the Albuquerque, Denver, Salt Lake City, Seattle and Oakland ARTCCs which we refer to as WUS (Western US)"
Anytime you're in the air is a good time. Glad you're back at it. The Beyond ATC vectoring was garbage. Also, I think maintenance is on the line and wants to have a little chat with you... something about overspeeding the flaps 😂. My guess, when you pressed FLCH it reverted to cruise speed. Something messed up with that logic.
I was already in FLCH though. And with autothrottles on (at least ARMED) it has protections. What was also weird was that it gave me a red band at flaps 5 even though I was 10 knots below the speed.
@@CWLemoine really? Didn’t see the FLCH button illuminated prior to the base vector. FMA showed SPD | HDG SEL | ALT. Not familiar with 787 FMA modes so I’ll defer to you.
I started the FLCH after they vectored us off the (wrong) STAR.
@@CWLemoine yeah, I think the FLCH logic in the Horizon mod is messed up. I think some other simmers have reported the same with Approach logic in general.
Yeah in offline practice (before I went to training), it was very tough to get it to descend on the approach. There are just so many things "not quite right" about it and some things completely wrong. It's certainly not study level yet.
Hey Mover - I still think this is a good move for you, will give you an opportunity to connect with a bunch of people and maybe help some folks out in the process - not to mention you’ll do a great job! One question, I guess you’ll be flying long haul overnight trips, do you have someone lined up to watch Luna when you’re gone?
How will it give an opportunity to connect with a bunch of people and help some out in the process? 🤔
@@CWLemoine Hey Mover - thought here is you will interact with other pilots and flight crew and perhaps even passengers who you might be able to give some good advice to from all your experiences, you never know who you can impact in a positive way.
@@kevinm6510 I like the enthusiasm ,but that’s not real likely with this type of flying.
PMDG makes great study level acft-Boeing certified...
Do they make a 787?
@CWLemoine Unfortunately not.
For the fatties, I've only flown the 737 and 787.
@@CWLemoine PMDG has a great 737NG through 777 series-study level.
The 777 might be fun to try. But I have no desire to ever operate a 737 again.
It sent you out 30 miles over the ocean at 1,000 feet and 300 knots? Seems realistic to me.
Must’ve thought I was back in the Mighty Viper.
I live in Boston so I’m always flying in out of there
When flying a heavy, I could never get a taxi to gate option even when I filed for a heavy gate. I have had a lot of fun flying the Guimbal Cabri G2 though and landing on helipads.
Congrats on the type rating! Also, interesting video! Maybe just me but at times I hear the ATC speak as if they are taking a breath at the same time as they are talking, at the end of the sentences?
Also looks like a really nice aircraft.
Yeah, I was hearing the weird voices too, and I thought it was my slow internet buffering.
Congrats! Now you have experience on 2 Boeings, please try a cargo flight with a 74... out of Honk Kong..... I'll let you decide the cargo ;)
Is some of the audio all messed up?
Not to my knowledge.
@@CWLemoine Hmm, some of the ATC coms are garbled. Weird.
@@Victor-ox1no I was hearing the same thing. Thought it was just my slow internet buffering.
@@INOD-2 yes same
Sounded like a demon
Great video, thanks for sharing.
didnt even know that you became an airline pilot. i remember your old dcs stuff lol
I was an airline pilot long before I started this channel.
@@CWLemoine well. did not know that. might wanna check out the pmdg stuff
@@SavageBambi do they make a 787?
@@CWLemoine apparently no but way more in depth simulation over all than this one
@@SavageBambiyeah, but flying something different doesn’t do much for me. I flew the 737 and have no desire to fly it again - real or simulated. I’ve never flown the 777.
It's gotta HUD ! 😃
What, no Captain announcements to the passengers? 🤣
"Flight Attendants Prepare For Takeoff" and "Flight Attendants Prepare for Landing" are all you need. 🤣
Your co-pilot sounds like something from Men in Black.
Can you do a video with PMDG 777-300ER please, thank you!
FWIW: those terminals don't look anything like what's at Logan. In real life the gate areas are much smaller and have only two levels - like I would expect at most airports.
That's funny. IRL I can't understand folks on the radio. In fake life the radio sounds perfect but it can't understand you.
You just need to learn how to speak radio.
niceee you got beyond atc! I knew u would haha
You should use VATSim a lot are real air traffic controllers so it’s done a lot better
Some weird software bugs on those coms voices...?? Plus, real life controllers hafta sound like their chewing marbles! 🤠
That ATC has some issues. Closest/lowest I’ve ever seen is descend to 2000 and they drop you in JUST outside of VOCUS-I’ve only flown right traffic to 22L twice tho. Normally it’ll be ROBUC3-transition from JFK. Also known as ROBUC3.22Late
dude mover msfs content is so enjoyable! mover, are you excited about msfs 2024?? think you'll play it?
There are some demons on the audio
Nice!! I'd be sleeping by now. Lol.
I think.rev initially deployed then cancled... prob control binding issue...not a pilot problem :)
Yeah, it's a little wonky using an F/A-18 throttle for this.
@@CWLemoine I use the thrustmaster hotas and also had that happened and instead of rev the thrust increased and I ran off the end. The key binding issue seemed to be resolved after the last major update for me.
I'm just curious. From other videos, my understanding was that the 787 was a rolling run-up to 20% and then hit TO/GA. Why from a standstill here?
787 doesn't have a side stick option?
Nope. That’s an Airbus thing.
@@CWLemoine Cool I thought I read someplace Boeing was thinking about a side stick for the 777/787. It would make it trickier with the way your stick inputs versus the sims yoke. Still a cool video. Be interesting to find out what made the throttles turning sentient , may need a Turing test for them...................
Did you pick the 787 ?
Yes.
Dude, I love the content, but there is some kind of audio crossover or something that makes it sound like you are constantly muttering ...or having a stroke, whenever you aren't speaking.
So are you officially working yet out in the wild?
Sort of. I finished training but I still haven't flown the airplane for real yet. I'll have to fly with a check airman for a couple of trips.
@@CWLemoine oh, that's interesting. I hope you've enjoyed yourself. Sounds fun except for leaving Luna. So you will have to work like 5 nights per week? That's tough!
Why do they call 80 knots? Rather than 70 or 90?
Verifying both airspeed indicators are alive and match and that the autothrottles are in HOLD. 80 knots is also the speed below which you'll reject for just about anything you don't like including a blown tire. Above 80, only fire, failure, fear, or shear.
Thanks, appreciate you taking the time to explain. Safe landings. 😊@@CWLemoine
Pilot monitoring raised the gear without calling it out?
Sir this is a Wendy’s.
this is a perfect example of why I still run the PMDG 737 and 777 on MS FSX... the scenery in MSFS2020 looks impeccable but the FMC and EICAS behaviors just don't seem even remotely ready....
Pretty sure it is down to the third-party developer to do the flight model and not Microsoft. Thats why so many modules are down rated.
MS should have you beta test stuff.
😎
Don't try the 787 for X-Plane, it isn't good at all lol. It's horrible.
For more realism you can’t be flying the garbage default planes from MS. They don’t yet have a realistic 787 available, but try the 777 from PMDG which is study level and should give you a much better experience. Fenix for Airbus is even better.
This isn’t the default 78.
That’s fair - but it’s still not to the level that hard core simmers expect. Bluebird simulations is working on 787 that should be much better.
Are you still an airline pilot?
Yes.
Vatsim?
Are you using Simbrief?
Yes.
@@CWLemoine Weird, MSFS Canned flight plans are dogcrap.
Why is half of the FMS screen blank? That’s Boeing weak sauce
Huh?
Half the screen is blank because you don't have to have the FMC (It's called a FMC in a Boeing) down there. You can have the FMC on any screen, and you can have any of the other display options on the lower display. The display is sized for an ECAM or NAV display, not just the FMC.
Hi moover any chance of a review of the classic aviation movie Air America (1990)
NAVAIR.... LOL
He's saying MAV-AIR for some reason.
I like the DCS gaming stuff more 😊
Shhhh
@@evanm6739 🙊
Try P3D, less BS.
I'm going to try X-Plane 12 next.
@CWLemoine 12 is pretty good. Not aware that they have a 787. Their 747-200 is pretty decent, as well as their 727. I'll give that a shot. Great stream.
@@CWLemoine The default 737 800 FMC in X-Plane 12 is a trainer with limited FMC commands. If you want the real deal download the 737-800 Zibo mod
Why not REACH 69 Heavy? 😂
REACH is a military callsign.
@@CWLemoine so is NAVAIR, no?
He's saying MAV-AIR... it should be MOVER. I don't know why BeyondATC does that.
Ok, sorry, I'm partial to REACH 😊.
I just un-installed MSFS because of this type of stuff and went back to P3D. The visuals aren't as nice, but the flying is more in line with RW.
