    If the thinner is nonpolar like xylene or Naphtha the solvent..you could use it to prep lures with dust sediment build up. Since its nonpolar it will not dissolve the paint on the lure unless it's a oil based paint job but rather help prep the lure for a proper clear coat finish by removing dust/oil residue. Just verify with KBS that the thinner is nonpolar. Most delamination with clear coats are from improper adhesion between clear coat and paint, then paint to lure surface. Maybe a how to with kbs etching primer might be good. Great video man.

    I spray Thunderbird Epoxy with a Badger Anthem airbrush. I just pull the needle back a little bit. Works perfect.

    My favorite new airbrush is my Grex Tritium TS. I have tips from 0.5-1.0 as well as the fan spray tip. Yes completely solvent resistant. A bit of an investment but finishes small parts every bit as well as my larger Iwata gun.

      @@BlindSymmetryLurePainting I really wanted the NEO but it only was available gravity fed locally and when I needed it. I've got XXL hands and the traditional airbrush just does not work for me with ease. Honestly the Grex has been very good to me. Great videos! Thanks

    Not sure if it's the same for your filter but my small booth uses the blue filters. After airbrushing a few items with KBS diamond clear I noticed the filter was VERY firm and almost "crunchy" to the touch. I still get some airflow through the filter but it's not nearly as much as when it was new. Keep an eye on those filters folks!!!

    Been looking for a good topcoat for ages, thanks a lot.
    However, may I ask how does it perform on Chrome or foil? I found most of topcoat will oxidize or make it dull due to the existence of thinner. Also, can it be applied to acrylic paint or it has to be lacquer paint?

    Great video. Thumbs up! Do you believe the results are worth the extra efforts as opposed to dipping in KBS?

    • @BlindSymmetryLurePainting
      @BlindSymmetryLurePainting  Рік тому +1

      Thanks fDan, At first, it's seems like extra effort. Once ypu go through the process of mixing and spraying KBS a couple times, you'll find it's a little less effort. No more hanging, no more wires, no more babysitting, no more cleaning out hook hangers. The extra effort will be learning the new process. The end results are better than dipping because you'll end up with a cleaner looking lure, no bubbles, clean hook eyes. Thanks for checking out our channel.

    Thanks for the video bro. I'm wanting to switch to kbs have you ever tried the kbs spray cans. I don't have the money to invest in another airbrush. I just got a badger 105 I don't know if it would work with kbs don't want to ruin it.

    Do you only apply the one coat of clear? Or would 2 or 3 coats be better for toothy fish like northern pike or musky?

    Hi, do you think it can't be sprayed with nozzles smaller than 0.5? I don't quite understand the dilution ratio, can you write it to me?
    Thank you

    • @BlindSymmetryLurePainting
      @BlindSymmetryLurePainting  Рік тому

      I recommend 0.5 mm or larger. It probably won't spray through a 0.35mm airbrush. The KBS can be thinned 15-30 percent with the "KBS #1 Thinner"
      9 drops of #1Thinner mixed w/ 30 drops of KBS clear diamond finish is a 30% mix ratio....
      15% ratio would be 4.5 drops of #1Thinner to 30 drops KBS. hope this helps and thanks for checking out the channel Luca

    I am going to be coating a brand new bmx bike frame custom tig welded out of 4130 Chromoly. It’s totally rust free new tubing and I want to preserve the look. KBS is urging me to use the brush on application for this. Can you advise what it’s like to brush KBS Diamond clear straight out of the can? It’s it runny or thick? KBS also advised against me using their aerosol cans (sort of) because they said it would take 10-20 coats to equal 2 of the brush on. I’m an experienced painter…just not with KBS clear.

    • @BlindSymmetryLurePainting
      @BlindSymmetryLurePainting  Рік тому

      It's only runny if you apply it to think. Since you're an experienced painter, you'll know what the KBS wants to do after the first few strokes. If possible, email me the before and after photos of your frame, I'd love to see it.
      Good luck, Neil

    I’m just starting to get into lure painting and I’m having trouble getting my paint to come out light. I use an iwata revolution. I thin my paint down but it doesn’t last long in the brush. How can I be more efficient and use less paint?

    • @BlindSymmetryLurePainting
      @BlindSymmetryLurePainting  Рік тому +1

      #1, use airbrush paint "not regular acrylic craft paint"
      #2 lower pressure
      #3, wipe off tip dry, tip dry can offset paint pattern or clog.
      #4 thoroughly clean your airbrush parts, needle, nozzle, needle cap, crown cap.
      Another thing the can cause your paint to not come out right is a split nozzle.
      Let me know if this helps.
      Tanks for asking and thanks for checking out our channel.

      @@BlindSymmetryLurePainting I do use createx airbrush paint and you mean lower pressure on the compressor?

    • @BlindSymmetryLurePainting
      @BlindSymmetryLurePainting  Рік тому +1

      Yes lower pressure on compressor. IWta has the recommended pressure on their website for the different airbrush model. High pressure sprays a high volume of paint and bowl can empty quick.
      Also not all of the paints are the same viscosity/thickness, some may need more thinner added than others.
      Pearls and metalics work best in a 0.5mm airbrush.
