    Jack Benny was one of the few "older" celebrities of that era who actually respected and liked the younger generation.

    Never saw this. Kudos to Jack for joining in and making the skit work. A far cry from the wooden Indian face Ed Sullivan used to introduce and/or talk to bands. As mentioned, Jack could actually PLAY that violin and quite well. Too bad the Raiders didn't need a "fiddle in the band".

    Freddy Weller on rhythm guitar to right of Mark Lindsay, to his left is Charlie Coe, I think; Joe Correro Jr. on drums, and that funny man, Paul Revere on keyboard. Mark Lindsay is a very good man and loves his music and his wife Deborah.
    Always a good time with Raiders on stage.

    The funniest thing is that Jack Benny was really not a bad violinist and very serious about his music. Love Paul and the gang here!

      ...he actually has played with some well reknown orchestras as a special guest...He was joking on a talk show that he held out until they paid him what he expected...dont know if true of joking.

      If Jack Benny hadn't become a comedian, he probably would've become one of the world's best concert violinists.
      He was that good a violin player.

    When Jack Benny walk out to join the the band. Charlie Coe on the bass guitar does not look too happy with Jack. Paul looks pretty amused. Mark is turning and it's hard tell, but it look like he has a funny look on his face and turns back to the audition and goes okay. It interesting seeing the different expressions of the three band members in the camera shot.

    • @markovichsteve5823
      @markovichsteve5823 8 років тому +5

      Isn't that Freddy Weller to the left of Mark who is out of the camera shot while Jack is up there playing? I'm talking about one that is in the camera shot to the right of Jack. They have had a revolving door of guitar players. It's hard to keep them all strait.

      I don't know for sure, but probably 1965 or 1966, that's when the Raiders were "popular," if you call it that. They were on lots of TV shows, like "Where the Action Is", but they never had any chart-topping songs. The number they're playing here is an example of their mediocre material.

    • @Centervillejim
      @Centervillejim 5 років тому

      This song came out in 1967. Also, Phil Volk and Jim Valley had left. The guitarist and bass player in this video are Freddy Weller and Charlie Coe, their replacements. They actually did have a #1 hit, "Indian Reservation", but that wasn't until 1971.

    The Raiders never should have allowed their performance to be interrupted and parodied like this.And I say that as a fan. A d why is the first song cut off as soon as it starts? THUMB DOWN.
