+Corrina Rittenhouse And give no reasons, probably cause you were thinking for some kind of reason that isn't forced or shit but couldn't think of one. Probably cause SR2 is actually superior in every way besides the PC port.
SR2 nowadays have only good story but dont you even start on activities! I dont want to see in other game to do 3 levels of actvity to get a 5% discount on food in game!!! like wtf? and every activity in SR2 is quite hard compared to SR3 and SR4 so doing all activities on level 5 can extend your gameplay pretty well thats true but when you get this shitty reward you dont want do anything and just focus on story. and playing SR2 on PC is quite buggy
Fanatik456 All side quests in sr4 are just literally forcing you into activities rather than being actual creative side quests which is fucking stupid. God damn it, sr2 will always be the best.
You think the forced missions are THAT bad, you have to consider the fact side missions and diversions are mostly mandatory on Saints Row 2 which can be annoying when you want to go through the story and worry about the extra stuff later. The side missions for Saints Row 2 is the only convenient way to gain enough respect to do a mission.
True, but in The Third, activities were forced upon you, such as the Cyber Blazing for Kinzie and the Escort with a tiger for Angel while in SR2 you're free to play any activity you'd like, to gain respect.
True, but they have story based explanations and they are fairly explained well. Also the key word is some. SR2 only allowed you to do that activity 6 times before you can no longer get respect from them which is only good for about most of one gang without the strong holds. Finally, none of the story stuff requires you fill in respect. Respect is used to unlock bonuses and upgrades that can really save your ass. Longer health bar, unlocking unlimited(ammo and energy for running), and increased defense to different areas.(And the stuff that benefits your homies is a beast of it's own) Short version, stuff that can make the playthrough even more comfortable. Not all of them are that hard when done through the story mind you(Trail Blazing is quite easy). Heck, you have to go out of the way to get the harder versions of activities. Heck, some versions of the activities are pretty cool. There's actually a trail blazing where you can ride that tiger.
I only said "some" because I didn't remember if all the activities were forced or not, I haven't played The Third since 2012 before I traded it. Also, I'm not saying the new side activities were that bad, I only had mentioned Cyber Blazing & the Tiger Escort since I remembered having to do those to continue, but now I also remember Mayhem, Tank Mayhem, Guardian Angel, and Professor Genki's Super Ethical Reality Climax being requirements as well so I'm guessing they all were, at some point.
i dunno about you, but i would just go around and go on a rampage killing a bunch of other gangs, and i got lots of respect for that. And most of the activities were pretty fun
SR3 was a major disappointment compared to SR2. SR4 pretty much shed the shit left behind by SR3, but decided to, instead of making it more like SR2, but with great controls......SR4 plays in the past of all games, and never getting an identity of its own. SR2>SR1>SR3>SR4.
UnBR0k3enAngel no SR2 is just a different game, more like gta with more freedom and crazier stuff But SR 3 is only one thing AWESOME, i loved SR2 but the third is just one of the coolest games ever
apparently they lost the source code for 1 and 2 so rumors are saying that they are completely recreating the 2 instead of a normal remaster. so even better
Saints Row The Third had so much character, I just wish the city looked more interesting with more to experience like bars and such. It's just a charming game, despite how depraved it is haha I love it!
The problem with the Saints Row series as a whole is that they keep dropping great features from the previous title that were amazing, while adding some whatever stuff.
Saints row 1&2 were great in my opinion and to be honest I had a lot of fun with sr3 and at the time I didn't notice that the series was becoming more over the top but now I have realised that the original story line for the series went from gangs fighting over territory to what it is today and I never had thought saints row as a GTA clone its probably because sr1 and GTA S.A came out very near each other but I loved the original, the 2nd and the new style of games we have today
Hey Joe. Remember that time when we didn't believe you when you said there was going to be a Saints Row 4. Damn, maybe you should say there is going to be an Elders Scrolls Vl. By the way, hilarious review Joe. Keep doing what your doing. We all love it.
@@BooBooDaFoo330 With all the controversy, the actual game was the least worst thing they did with Fallout 76. Bags, bottles, bans, and broken promises about ptw.
😂 I just got to that part, and I immediately looked for this! 🤣 I understand 2's hyper fans being pissed, but Saints Row 3 is gold! I have found memories of 2, but I'm still playing 3 and *LOVING IT!* (Also, did you know the you can avoid the QTE melee by rolling up beside an opponent? I'm currently enjoying 3 as one of the greatest souls like melee combat games; only against firearms, supermutants, and vehicles, but I see people rag on the system *A LOT.* Am I the only person who realized this early on, and I just had a completely unique experience?)
I can't say I disagree. While I do think the game is still fun if you're a hardcore SR fan like me, it does have some annoyances which will bug different people for different reasons. My personal ones: 1.) The cribs are all the same on the inside. In Saint's Row 2, your safe houses could be customized down to individual furniture. In SR3, they're all the same on the inside with the exception of your Downtown Penthouse. They all look awesome on the outside and you can make them bigger and more opulent, but on the inside they're all still the same and you cannot change anything. 2.) The weapons system was screwed to Hell. What were previously core items in my loadout in Saint's Row 2 are now grouped into the same weapon class for no reason, so I can't equip them all and so I find myself unprepared for certain situations because I don't know what is coming next. So I just pick something different before every mission based on what I know about it before going into it and hope I'm ready. But 9/10 I went in and I was like, "Yeah that sniper rifle would've been helpful; maybe an airstrike." 3.) The customization gave us more and yet fewer options. Whereas before I could customize every individual piece of clothing - vests, coats, ties, shoes, socks, etc. - with patterns and colors and what have you, I'm now locked into these premade "upper" and "lower" body things. So I feel I've lost a lot of customization options, while I do like what we've been given. I suppose for the price of customizing every little piece we get a wider variety of bases and presets we can't change. Also no socks, which can sometimes ruin outfits where your legs are still showing because the shoes are made for a specific pair of shoes. Kind of lazy and restrictive, that. 4.) The rush to make the game linear has diluted some of the original game's best features, like making taking territory pretty pointless just for getting an edge. When I first played SR2 I instinctively went around buying up all the property, making the money to do so through activities but also through robbing stores I didn't own yet and using my revenue to just keep investing in real estate and growing. I did this because the only game I'd ever played that did this was the Godfather video game (the second one sucked, the first one was great) and in that game there were serious benefits to getting all the rackets and businesses. Not only would you have more money than you knew what to do with, but your guys would patrol the streets and if you ever got in a tight spot you always knew were to go if you needed backup or if someone tried starting something with you, backup was right there. Personally in games like this I'd like to see gangs retreat rather than just keep pushing non-stop against an insurmountable defense. Anyway, in SR2 if you had all the territory, because the game world was not instanced all your guys would still be walking the streets during missions. If you ever got in trouble or in a chase, your boys would show up and help you out - even during supposedly "cinematic" moments I saw them show up and even the odds drastically. I remember one escort mission I did where my gang members almost took care of the enemy totally on their own - and I played on Hardcore in all the SR games. It felt like taking territory and expanding your gang's influence really meant something. In this game? All the missions are instanced, so my guys aren't usually there to help me unless the game puts them there. This was definitely infuriating as it felt like all my hard work basically conquering the streets of Steelport was meaningless except in giving me more cash. What's even worse is now activities are tied to region control, which makes little sense to me. On top of there being less stores and I have to drive farther for things, it makes these odd pockets of no control. It was infuriating and bothersome. I guess it's good because now I have gangs I can still go slap around until I'm ready to do the side missions, and I did really want the gangs to be around by the end of SR2 when I got all the military-grade kit because I wanted to slaughter them, but still. This is something that bugs me as what I got a lot of joy from in SR2 was growing my holdings. I have some personal gripes related to thinks I would've liked to see - like giving the Saints more Paramilitary options in their customization and such. I always liked playing the Saints as my own private army. It's good that we have the Guardsman and Cop options now or I would be more upset. I practically mangasmed when I got the Bodyguard skins in SR2. Great game? Nah. Good game? If you're a hardcore fan of the franchise and just want some more context for SR4, sure.
You forgot to mention that steelport is a boring city, as compared to stilwater. Yeah SR2 is incredible. Btw in sr3 I think the graphics are better because I have the PC version.
Me and my friend played saints 2, to death! We loved that game so hard, and were excited to play this. We were both speechless at how boring it was, not half the game the second one was (though there are obvious improvements)
Saints row 2 had such a good story, one of the most engrossing stories i think i have ever played in a game. Once i got an hour in that was in, i completely the whole thing in more less one dedicated weekend
No dude literally the reason I was so addicted to this game was because of the character I accidentally made through fucking around and making some odd character, and I made and orange and black variant of Harley Quinn and making her in every game was literally SO much fun.
I've arrived from the future... Angry Joe videos. You, sir, have been improved since 2009 (2011 vid, I know, but it's the same in my books), and congrats on that.
Look, I couldn't enjoy saints row the third, because it felt nothing like saints row. Saints row 1 and 2 did have some humor, but it was properly timed. However, 2 also had deep and heartbreaking moments, such as the part of the game where Aisha dies and Johnny is a broken shell of his former self. You also had that mission where you were forced to shoot Carlos, one of the most loyal gang members. However, from saints row the third and on, there is a lack of serious storytelling. In the third game, you fight damn luchadors! How the hell am I supposed to be scared of a bunch of masked wrestlers? Dane from the second game was actually a threat because he owned a billion dollar company and wanted to kill off the saints. Saints row 4 is even worse. And then we got the atrocity that was gat out of hell. Now they're making a reboot where none of the old characters will even be mentioned.
I would love a Saints Row 2022 review and see how Joes perspective has changed and if it held up to SR2 because for me its pretty terrible. Would love to see it.
Sure saints row 2 was like a goofy version of gta but I didn't see anything wrong with that. It never took away any of the fun for me, and it's sad that we probably won't ever see another game like it.

10:34 No, no, no. You're supposed to say, "The boat can leave now...tell the crew." (Only true old-school zombie lore fans will get that reference.) 15:39 Gotta love how the transitions are made up of silhouettes of an AK-103 w/grenade launcher (GP-25, GP-30, or GP-34). How do I know it's an AK-103? Well, I'm making educated guess here, but it's got the AK-74 type muzzle brake, a standard-length barrel, and the magazine's curvature would indicate that it's chambered for 7.62x39mm (rather than 5.45 or 5.56). 17:55 I always got the impression that Professor Genki's game show title was a reference to "Most Extreme Elimination Challenge." XD 18:08 OMG! We're of one mind, I swear!
I never played Saints Row 2, but I got Saints Row the third for free on Xbox Live, and it's fucking Awesome!! Seriously, I don't know what Angry Joe is talking about. I had a whole lot of fun. It's even comparable to GTA V. It's barely below it in my opinion.

Marvin Tran yea because you got it for free and you will not be able to notice the problem since you have no other saints row experience to go buy. If I was new and got it free and the only one id played I would think it would be awsome
+MF DERP I just picked up 2, 3 and 4 this weekend. Finished 2 and 3 so far and I have to say the villains of sr2 are made rly good and it has surely some nice scenes in it. But honestly, the KI is dumb as hell, pathfinding is horrible and on the technical side (optimization, looks and controls) this game sucks. The third on the other hand had nice graphics, runs smooth and the controls are close to well ported to pc. It also has some good scenes in it and it shows finally parts of that silly humor I expected from the series. It also has some pathfinding problems and it defenetly lacks on the side of good villains. All in all, I liked 3rd way more then the 2nd.. actually I did'nt liked the second one that much at all. Looking forward for the 4th game, hope it takes the best of the two prior ones.
All you is ture, except maybe that steelport is boring. In my eyes it's not moreboring or fun then Stilwater. End still, I had way more fun playing sr3 then sr2, but this is of course completely subjective. The thing I realy miss of sr2 are the vilains and the revolver. I like the new saints row stile though.. Anyway, how is gat out of hell?
@Jonny B Because that was awkward and creepy! I'm a sexual freak, but that was a "used car salesman" for dildos! Why would anyone buy a used dildo? That's like buying a used condom. I hope he tells people that they've been used!
Good review as always. Seems a bit like you didn't like Saints Row 3 because it wasn't Saints Row 2, though. As a person who first came into the SR series on Saints Row: The Third, it's a solid game that got me interested in purchasing the rest of the series (except the first one). 6/10 is a pretty low score when you assess SR3 it on its own merits. While SR3 is smaller in scale and content, it feels a lot more polished than Saints Row 2. As a PC player, its performance and controls are important, and SR3 is objectively better for playing on PC in those respects. And while the outlandish humour may not be a style for everyone, I found it frankly refreshing to see a game that was willing to be silly. I found the lag funny. I found the text adventure mission funny. I found the tiger mission funny. I found the zombies funny. Generally, I was shocked at how unhinged the game seemed to become halfway through, and I loved it. Saints Row 2 is very good, but Saints Row 3 is doing its own thing, and it's pretty awesome at it.

Tenzing Khedup It's very superior
Rezeed Murasame At least you can choose those activities.
Am I the only one in the whole fucking galaxy who actually liked SR3 and 4?
Sr3 and 4 was awesome
SR3 was a major disappointment compared to SR2. SR4 pretty much shed the shit left behind by SR3, but decided to, instead of making it more like SR2, but with great controls......SR4 plays in the past of all games, and never getting an identity of its own. SR2>SR1>SR3>SR4.
adam guilbeau true but if they wanted to go completely out of the box the should have just made a whole new series
UnBR0k3enAngel no SR2 is just a different game, more like gta with more freedom and crazier stuff
But SR 3 is only one thing AWESOME, i loved SR2 but the third is just one of the coolest games ever

Don’t tell Joe that they’re remastering SW3 instead of 2
apparently they lost the source code for 1 and 2 so rumors are saying that they are completely recreating the 2 instead of a normal remaster. so even better
Commander Wyro they recently found the source code and they said that they’ll fix the pc port sr2
@@morphingtime2000 they’ve officially said on Twitter they have no plans on remastering older games
Saints Row The Third had so much character, I just wish the city looked more interesting with more to experience like bars and such. It's just a charming game, despite how depraved it is haha I love it!
It's still a great game, even though it doesn't beat Saint's Row 2 which was legendary game (at least for me)
Dude sr2 is better, as it has a very active and alive city, more activities and many more missions and better story.

"I don't care how fucked up your face is" best line out of all the SR games!
The problem with the Saints Row series as a whole is that they keep dropping great features from the previous title that were amazing, while adding some whatever stuff.
I fucking love him, just because he put the dildo ordering thing in, that was hilarious

Ah Saints Row The Third. Still a game I enjoy.
My dream game would be the shooting mechanics of The Third with the storyline quality of 2.
Why don't we all play saints row the third together?
Saints row 1&2 were great in my opinion and to be honest I had a lot of fun with sr3 and at the time I didn't notice that the series was becoming more over the top but now I have realised that the original story line for the series went from gangs fighting over territory to what it is today and I never had thought saints row as a GTA clone its probably because sr1 and GTA S.A came out very near each other but I loved the original, the 2nd and the new style of games we have today
Just finally got the chance to play Saints Row 3 and it is such a masterpiece, also holy, Joe was skinny.
garbage compared to what came before
Hey Joe. Remember that time when we didn't believe you when you said there was going to be a Saints Row 4. Damn, maybe you should say there is going to be an Elders Scrolls Vl.
By the way, hilarious review Joe. Keep doing what your doing. We all love it.

😂 I just got to that part, and I immediately looked for this! 🤣
I understand 2's hyper fans being pissed, but Saints Row 3 is gold! I have found memories of 2, but I'm still playing 3 and *LOVING IT!*
(Also, did you know the you can avoid the QTE melee by rolling up beside an opponent? I'm currently enjoying 3 as one of the greatest souls like melee combat games; only against firearms, supermutants, and vehicles, but I see people rag on the system *A LOT.* Am I the only person who realized this early on, and I just had a completely unique experience?)
I can't say I disagree. While I do think the game is still fun if you're a hardcore SR fan like me, it does have some annoyances which will bug different people for different reasons.
My personal ones:
1.) The cribs are all the same on the inside.
But 9/10 I went in and I was like, "Yeah that sniper rifle would've been helpful; maybe an airstrike."
3.) The customization gave us more and yet fewer options.
“Drop that Dookie” better then most rap music out today

Angry Joe videos. You, sir, have been improved since 2009 (2011 vid, I know, but it's the same in my books), and congrats on that.
I can't wait for you to cover the saints row reboot if you decide to man, it looks so disappointing.
The one thing that I don’t like about saints row 2 was when you have to fill the respect bar
I've been watching alot of Joe's older videos and I can see the evolution of him getting better and better.
I'm re-playing SR2 right now. Saints Row 3 could've been so good. It's a real travesty.
Came back in preparation for the Reboot Review! DROP THAT DOOKIE GIRL!
The beginning was all one needs to know what you're in for when playing SR3.
Sure saints row 2 was like a goofy version of gta but I didn't see anything wrong with that. It never took away any of the fun for me, and it's sad that we probably won't ever see another game like it.
I HOPE Fans look back at these OLD Joe Saints Row Videos with fondness for how the series used to be GREAT back in the day...
this might be dumb question, but did he mean to put a saints row 2 cover in the beginning?
probably, cause he gave it a note, so im not sure
No he clearly stated he was comparing it with SR3...

10:34 No, no, no. You're supposed to say, "The boat can leave now...tell the crew." (Only true old-school zombie lore fans will get that reference.)
15:39 Gotta love how the transitions are made up of silhouettes of an AK-103 w/grenade launcher (GP-25, GP-30, or GP-34). How do I know it's an AK-103? Well, I'm making educated guess here, but it's got the AK-74 type muzzle brake, a standard-length barrel, and the magazine's curvature would indicate that it's chambered for 7.62x39mm (rather than 5.45 or 5.56).
17:55 I always got the impression that Professor Genki's game show title was a reference to "Most Extreme Elimination Challenge." XD
18:08 OMG! We're of one mind, I swear!
I know its old already, but just thought I'd note.. Joe said "I've waisted so much ammunition on this" @ 15:30. yet has infinite ammo 😂

I never played Saints Row 2, but I got Saints Row the third for free on Xbox Live, and it's fucking Awesome!! Seriously, I don't know what Angry Joe is talking about. I had a whole lot of fun. It's even comparable to GTA V. It's barely below it in my opinion.
Exactly you don't know what's wrong with you only played the third you need to of played all of them from start to finish then you will see what a Down grade the 3rd is compared to the second go play it
Hey man, it's all good. I got the game for free on Xbox Live. So, I have no complaints, but my point is on its own the game is awesome.
Marvin Tran yea because you got it for free and you will not be able to notice the problem since you have no other saints row experience to go buy. If I was new and got it free and the only one id played I would think it would be awsome

As much as I love you Joe, could you please drop the SR2 fan boyism
Not really fanboyism it's a better game, a longer game and with more side missions and activities.
I was thinking bro sr2 suxs
