  • How I am incorporating simple but effective bodyweight (or calisthenic) exercises in my resistance training routine alongside their respected equipment. The exercises shown here balance the risk of the some skill based exercises with working the desired muscle groups along side other equipment.

    I made a wooden footplate similar to what you offer on your website, as well as got a set of serious steel bands (undersun failed me too many times) and the instar bar. Installed a pull up bar on a wall and i now have a nice, compact home "gym" that really only takes up a wall and a couple of square feet of space. I like the ring idea, i can add it to my pull up bar without taking up much space again. Thanks for all the ideas and motivation to work out.

    Perfect timing! I just picked up a pull-up / dip station thing to get more dips/leg lifts etc into my workouts. Got some more ideas now - thanks!!

    I see the Rack Workout Station is making a resurgence. I’ve had one for 10 years now. A nice change up to mainly body weight exercises.

      I feel I've seen that before, but that thing does look cool. Like an upgraded walker.

      @@hybridresistance haha. That’s exactly what it looks like. Good for dips, pushups and basically an ab roller.

    holy smokes dude. super impressive that you can still pull off those movements.
    Asking for a friend who has the flexibility of a plank of wood… do you need a high degree of flexibility to get started with those calisthenics movements??

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  2 місяці тому +1

      Thanks Tom as always. What I tell people (and I learned myself) is that many of the "flexibility problems" often times (not always) are movement pattern issues. I was as stiff and inflexible as anyone when I was younger, but by learning new exercises and movements, you naturally start to open yourself up. The proof is in this video as many of these things such as the back bridge, pistol squat, or even that inverted ring press I haven't done in years or with few rare instances. Same as say once your learn to ski, you can takes years off and then pick back up where you left off. So overall summary, just start simple, learn some techniques, and gradually work your way into your desired movement goal.

    I've never considered calisthenics really, but as I'm going to be working out outside more in the future, something like those rings around a tree look great.
    Have you looked into the Beyond Power Voltra, seems like something that would be up your street. Seems to work great with a rack but their travel pad looks decent and you can fix a mountain plate to a wall etc, looks really cool like a super powered PUMP

    • @Tomasquo
      @Tomasquo 2 місяці тому

      Wow, that Voltra makes the Ancore Pro look cheap. With accessories you're already approaching $2500. Thanks for the heads up. Never heard of it before, but apparently it just came to market in July 2023.

    • @TheAnglan
      @TheAnglan 2 місяці тому

      @@Tomasquo it's also 3x the resistance of the Ancore and can be used without a rack. But yeah it's a gen 1 product and another competitor in the space, always good for the consumer!
      Garage reviews did a couple of videos on it if you want to see more, I just prefer this channel's reviews personally they feel more realistic and he's not scared to tinker with things

    Most of my upper body work is calisthenics. I use a bar bands and board for legs.

    I have a basic fitness question, I'd like your opinion. I currently only do resistance training 2 to 3 times a week. I really try to get it in Monday, Wednesday and Friday but it doesn't always work out. Because of that I just do a total body workout instead of like a push/pull or an upper/lower split. But sometimes I end up skipping Wednesday because I still feel sore from Monday. Do you think 1 day rest for total body is enough? Or should I go to like 80% instead of 100% on Mondays or something? I feel like if I did a push/pull split, it would be too much time in-between workouts if I only get 2 workouts in that week...

    • @hybridresistance
      @hybridresistance  2 місяці тому

      There’s a lot of ways to skin that cat. It’s a cliche answer but I’d just listen to your body and if you miss that day, no big deal just make it count the next session. You can definitely do total body initially, but as you progress, you’ll notice you’ll either need more recovery or start splitting it up. But it really does depend on other variables as well.
