      I literally had the same issue. I moved into my new place and adjustment was completely off. Also check the plug as sometimes the screw gets a little short and then does not work with mechanism. If screw is a little tight spray with some WD40 and give it some time before loosening.

    Thank you, thank you, thank you. I had fitted one of these to the new bath I'd installed and could not get the waste cover to pop up. I thought I must have installed incorrectly and was at the point of taking the whole thing out! A very depressing outcome. Then, I came across your video and it was the only one on you tube I could find that explained properly how the system works and that you have to adjust the screw on the waste cover in order for it to pop up. I did this and, voilla!!, success. Currently you are number 1 on UA-cam for me!!

      @@DIMTips Well, f**k me. I've had one of these things in the place I moved into nearly four years ago and could never figure out how it worked. No, I don't mean the complex cable-pull mechanism you took apart at the back. I mean, how the hell the actual plug popped up and down lol. I was always under the impression some kind of click-clack valve was missing. I even took the whole thing apart a few years back, looking for what was missing and then had to screw it back together as the actual waste was all connected. After watching this video, I just went and popped the plug in and twisted that big knob on the back of the bath and watched it go up and down. Rofl...I'd been dropping the plug in and pulling it out with a knife whenever I used the bath instead of the shower. Thanks for that...duh!

    Hi fab video and I just wanted more info on the plug and adjusting that.
    My pop up bath plug will drain if there’s some water in it, but if there’s lots of water it won’t pop up.
    When I adjust the plug I can adjust the height and also the nut. Does the position of the nut have anything to do with the workings of the plug? It’s just I don’t know if I need to make the plug longer and also adjust the nut.
    Sorry I probably don’t make sense...

    • @DIMTips
      @DIMTips  3 роки тому

      I would always start with the plug as it is the easier job. The nut is there to stop it from slipping back down. So make sure the nut is right up to the top. Let me know how you get on.

      It may be limescale build up. Try some Viakal or citric acid to remove the limescale. Also grip the base unit and unscrew the top. WD40 has also worked in the past.

    Hello I’ve just re-tensioned it and it turns and holds the metal but nothing is happening on the bottom I can’t access it from the bottom as that would involve removing tiles around the bath is there a possibility that the mechanism in the drain isn’t working?

    • @DIMTips
      @DIMTips  2 роки тому +1

      Silly question but have you adjusted the nut underneath the plug to make it longer. If that does not work it may be the unit.

      Sometimes they cut the hole a little too big for the fitting. I noticed that the person before me added silicone to keep it secure. I do not recommend this as is a little messy but may work. During regular usage of getting in and out or general usage the fitting may be loosening. You may need to regularly open and tighten it from time to time. There is a screw underneath to open it. Then as long as you hold the back casing it should tighten.

    I have a cable drain handle on my tub unfortunately the opening to the screw is facing down, towards the tub. Since it's difficult to see, other than using a mirror underneath, I'm having difficulty turning the screw. Likely due to it being there for a several years. Any suggestions on how to release, other than taking a sludge hammer...which of course if overkill. Thanks

    I have same/ similar mechanism for my bathtub in my bathroom but whichever way I try to take it out it does not seem to work. I found for twist to open bathtubs you require to sometimes use a Phillips head flat head or cross shaped screwdriver, however the screwdrivers I had either unfortunately does not fit or that I cannot seem to locate the screw in the side of the slot where the screwdriver can be slotted into. So I was just wondering in case it could possibly be my fault for not using the correct size Phillips screwdriver I was just wondering what size screwdriver that people have been using to fix this similar problem in bathroom bathtub?
