  • I bought a new drain stopper for my tub at Lowe’s. I ended up using a socket I bought at AutoZone add some sandpaper to remove it. Now the train plug works just fine.

Yall can here kids in the background. Maybe he is a single parent and dont want to waste money on tools or a plumber. Or maybe he is just showing those of us that are on a limited income how to without spending a fortune. No need for there to be all sorts of negativity. I think he did great. And also worse prolly goes down the drain than silicone and rubber. This is super helpful. Mine is all corroded and i dont want to have some strange man in my house to fix it. So thanks for helping me out at the very least

This is what you do not want to do. The rubber seal was for under the tub. Putty around the drain. Use handles on pliers to turn.

    thank you

I would have dropped a couple of fire crackers down there. I admire your ability to try different methods of solving the problem without having any ego involved.

Bruh that’s some EXTREME DIY lol. That’s the reason dislike buttons were needed. Lovely touch with how you just washed away all the rubber and silicone chunks into the drain at the end.

What I've seen done in a demonstration class at Home Depot is the handle from a pair of pliers are put into the drain through the cross supports. A screwdriver is then run through the pliers mouth and the drain twisted out. However, with your cross supports being broken, that might not have worked. Either way, great job!

This is a perfect example of why you should hire a plumber. After the effort of removing the old drain he managed to install the new one incorrectly.

I've got an idea, run down to the local hardware store and spend 12 bucks and the tools that fits those and is designed to remove them.

$12 isn't much, but he did it with the tools he had. I admire that!
