What If Viserys Allowed Daemon and Rhaenyra To Marry? (House Of The Dragon)

- It's a question I'm sure we've been asking since episode 4 of House of the dragon. What could have happened if Viserys listened to his brother and allowed the rogue prince to marry the princess. Would the realm be stronger than ever before or perhaps would the fires of war would be worse?

I don’t think Rhaenys would let her daughter marry Aegon lol.
They would never trust Otto, as Viserys favored him over the Velaryons
Also I doubt that she would have remained free unless it was arranged by the time of Raenyras and Daemon’s marriage. I can't see a 25 years old daughter of Raenhys who also happens to have the biggest dragon single waiting for a match. Now if the marriage had been discussed early on she may have ended up married to Aegon with Rhaeny's protests or without them her husband only cares about titles and may have already thinking how to elevate his son-in-law to heir to the throne. So in this line him and Otto may have been the ones to initiate war.
Well in regards to that I’d say it doesn’t matter what Rhaenys wants. She’s not the head of House Velaryon. Corlys is and he’s made it clear multiple times that he’ll go around her if he wants to. Rhaenys didn’t want Laena to marry Viserys, yet he pushed his daughter toward the king anyway. Rhaenys also didn’t even want Laenor to marry Rhaenyra because of the danger he’d be in. But still Coryls accepted the proposal. So as much as it sucks to say Rhaenys would have little to no say in what would happen to their children.
As for them not trusting Otto I find that doubtful. Something people forget is just how prideful and ambitious Corlys is. Aegon is the kings first born son and many expect him to be heir. If he marries Laena it doesn’t really matter if Viserys favors Otto or not because the’ll be in with him and it would make no sense for Otto to turn on them given that Aegon would have the might of house Velaryon behind him through Laena and I doubt Otto would try to screw that up. Coryls has made it clear he wants to be as close to the throne as he can get. And in knowing that people expect Aegon to be king, and people like Otto are planning to make that happen, I definitely see him trying to aid in that since it will mean more for him. Not only being father in law to the king but father to the queen and grandfather to their heirs.
Unless the marriage pact between Laena and Aegon was established years prior, there is no reason Laena would still be unmarried by the time Aegon came of age.
What if with Viserys agreeing the marriage of Daemon and Rhaenyra, he also said " fine marry her, but know this no children of this union would ascend to the throne because from this very moment throne would pass to Aegon your nephew" to know if even with that restriction Daemon would marry Rhaenyra because of love or stop it because of his ambition
At 11:00 : I don’t think Daemon would allow alyson’s father to stay as he has repeatedly shown his distrust of him. If Visearys still kept him Daemon would make his life a living hell.
Like you said this can go in so many directions. A lot depends on later decisions..
Another "What if" that occurred to me is:
"What if Daemon and Otto were friends?"
19:43 is a huge problem with the Lannisters and Velaryons that's literally the richest 3 in the world.
Also, even if Daemon and Rhaenyra have Syrax and Caraxes then the Greens have Vhaghar(the biggest dragon) Meleys(the fastest dragon) Dreamfyre, Seasmoke and Sunfyre not counting the little kids's dragons. Which is not inspiring at all.
Even the "successful" Dragonseeds were found on Driftmark... So if that happens that's Vermithor and Sheepstealer still on the Greens.
If this happens I don't see any lords choosing Black over Green.
This match is actually worse than I thought it was initially.
A couple of differences I would say because Rt will still have the king dismiss Otto as hand. Criston would swear fealty To Alicent to be away from Rt. Larys will still kill his harwin and lyonel and will blackmail alicent. The sea snake will either sell his daughter to Aegon or daemon children from rt. A very interesting what if scenerio.
Why Larys would do that? Lyonel isn’t hand in this case… they aren’t a threat, he would act in the shadows to gain Alicent trust without involving his family..

Can you do a Helaena and Jaceaerys? As well as Harwin marrying Rhaenyra during her time in her time searching for a bride. I'm also doing my own fanfic with Jon Snow, he was killed in Season 8 by evil Bran taken over by the Night King. Then he sent back in the past to the time of the Dance of the Dragons. When it comes to cannon, the reason why I think Viserys didn't kick up as big of a fuss over Rhaenyra and Daemon's later marriage, is because she already had three sons. In the king's mind, those boys were a block to any ambitions for greater power that his brother had, which was hugely naiive. If one of Rhaenyra's older children had been a daughter, or she had one somewhere in-between the boys or as a twin, Daemon could've/would've simply betrothed one of their little sons to her. He would've also likely matched baby Visenya, had she lived, with one of her two full brothers, or with Joffrey, since he was the closest half-brother to her in age. Speaking of the deceased infant princess, I can't help but wonder how much would've been changed by her survival. I'm not sure if the details would be major enough to warrant a separate video, though. (2/16/2024)

I don’t see the Valaryons siding with the greens, the sea snake and Daemon were friends from their time fighting together in the step stones, I don’t see them agreeing to a marriage pact with the greens in this timeline
Let's just say that after visenya is born, Daemon and rhaenyra have 5 more children, first twin girls, aemma and alyssa, then 2 boys aegon and then viserys and the last they have is a still born girl replacing visenya named rhaella

Honestly, this could go two ways: either Rhaenyra and Alicent find a way to be in good terms and so we have no greens and blacks, or we have a war and the black lose it immediately.
Daemon and Rhaenyra without the Velaryons would have zero chances, unless the kids they have claim old, big dragons, like Vermithor, Silverwing, Sheepstealer or some like that.
In that case, it would basically be green and black on reverse roles: the green would have more dragons, but the blacks would have multiple big ones.

With so many families looking for a wife around the time Rhaenyra was marriageable Leana would not still be looking when Aegon was old enough. She came from a rich family once Rhaenyra was married to Daemon she’d be married to the next best thing.

So we all know that the targs are all about the incest but what about the one matching they never seem to discuss or consider?? The craster way. What if Viserys was so upset by the death of Aema Arryn that when she died he decided to marry his daughter because she reminded him of her mother?

Also its cope to justify the risk rhaenyra made herself take.
Jace was born less than a year into her marriage with laenor, so apparently they didn’t try very hard or very long.
@@Tgsva352 When I first saw that scene I thought Nyra meant that she just didn’t enjoy the act with Laenor because I remember that she continued the sentence saying that "there was no pleasure in it." But then I saw everyone saying that Laenor was infertile and the truth is I don't think they are sure of that, like it’s a collective head canon.
It's just headcanon, so Nyra seems less dumb and reckless. But seeing as Jace was born about a year or so later, it obvious they tried maybe a handful of times and gave up. Which is dumb af, she could have tried harder, or at least chosen a Velaryon looking man. Hell, she could have also gone to Viserys to ask for an annulment since Laenor is not providing heirs (this option is less favorable, since I dont think there is a precident in cannon for annulments on the grounds of infertility. Furthermore, the Velaryons are gonna be hella pissed about this)

First. By the way, I don't think this would have solved anything.
It eliminates her having bastards with Harwin, which removes the greens’ ammunition against Rhaenyra. Now they’ll try to usurp the throne only because she’s a woman. Of course, this could also keep Rhaenyra at court, which would likely help her keep the support of some lords who had turned against her while she was gone.
I doubt that Laenor, Rhaenys and Laena would fight Rhaenyra

Corlys hated the Hightowers why would he align himself with them, also Daemon and Rhaenyra's kids even tho younger would be a far better match for them, unlike the Strong kids they would be legit plus they wouldn't be evil like the Green children, actually it's more likely since Daemon is in Kings Landing that several accidents would befall the Greens, plus the people of Kings Landing love Daemon even more than Viserys himself.
