I didn’t watch this show for two years, had a lot of preconceived notions about it. Then about a month ago I finally pray about it and started watching The Chosen that night.
To the glory of Jesus the Messiah, it is a blessing to feel (even in a small way) that we went on the journey with Christ.
Probably been said a million times before, but just seeing our Lord make His own tent/camp was such a humbling and happy experience.
Love you all sisters and brothers in Christ.

I seriously have to ask the question, what kind of reality to some people think Jesus was living in? Do they assume that he was divorced from the human experience, and that every little thing offended him? Do they not realize that even Jesus had to address pharisees in ways that would be considered rude? But with context fully understood? Are people not opening their eyes to the fact that Jesus and John most likely bantered because they were related? Thank you so much for the roundtable discussion. Because they allow us to see things even more clearer

I love the scene, it's moving and powerful, but I'm just not sure how accurate it is. Did John actually know Jesus even though they were cousins? In John 1:31, 33, John says, "I myself did not know Him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that He might be revealed to Israel." and again John says, "I myself did not know Him, but the One who sent me to baptize with water told me, 'The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the One who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.'
And since the Scripture is so rich, I'll include v. 34 as well with John finishing his statement with, "I have seen and I testify that this is God's Chosen One."

    • @anthonyjohn9000
      @anthonyjohn9000 Рік тому

Even after what you mentioned, John when in prison had doubt about Jesus as messiah. Read the Bible carefully, nowhere it is written that there will be miraculous birth, then the messiah will die, then resurrected. Infact Jews very well know the prophesies in which the messiah will fulfill all that was spoken through prophets. The Roman catholic church changed everything during council of Nicea that took place from 335 AD to 451 AD. The sabbath was changed to Sunday, passover to communion bread and wine, circumcision to baptism etc. For the passover and atonement of sin strict rules and regulations were commanded by God, for sin the bull and goat were offered, except once the lamb that too female lamb, then why Jesus is the lamb of God why not bull or goat were God, there are many errors, contradictions, prophesies out of context and cherry picking. Infact the new testament is nothing but distortion of old testament the Hebrew scriptures, that's why Jews don't believe Jesus AD the messiah. Read the Bible carefully don't believe what men preach and interpret otherwise one loose all the blessings.

This is the best way to learn what could have happened in the lives in the Bible. None of us were there so we need an open forum of all possibilities to be presented with respect. I thought the scene with John The Baptist and Jesus was very plausible. I thought it was a great discussion with John and Jesus.

May the Lord return soon! Amen. God is merciful. He always forgives. Never be ashamed to take your failures to him. He is for you, not against you! God is with you in the storm. He knows your troubles, he hears you! He is for you, on your side, always! It may feel silent at times, but he’s holding you close! May the Lord return soon! We are drawing closer. He is coming! Believe and trust in the Lord, you will be saved. Period. May the Lord bless you all! Hang in there family. Stay strong. It is not easy following the Lord. We are scoffed at. We give up our earthly dreams, our fleshly desires. What the enemy offers is short lived, but heaven is forever! Life may seem or be unfair, but God is with you! Always remember that. Things may get better or worse for you, but a kingdom awaits you! Finish the race! Repent daily and carry your cross. This world is fading fast. Your troubles are temporary! New channel here, I’d appreciate any kind of support. Don’t give up! God loves you so much! So do I. The Lord bless you!!

Not just Mary and Joseph but John too, and we got to see a glimpse of his personal relationship with his blood family on earth. It's called passion within that is a level of intimacy and honesty!
My origin is Greek, and that is the environment I grew up in.
I kept seeing posts about The Chosen. I saw the footage of the miracle of the miracle creation of the production of The fish. Interesting. I don't recall the moment nor the date I ventured into the series BUT I was truly blessed because I was able to watch season 1 on youtube and then season 2 on the app. So I binged both seasons uninterrupted! Now, I wait for season 3, and continue visiting season 1 and 2. .. and all the Facebook posts I can.
What this has done for me is to peel back the minutia of religious dogma to relve in the core of Jesus's purpose for humanity.

I like John the Baptist scene with him speaking with Jesus because It shows how we really feel sometimes how we communicate with Jesus on different levels., Jesus represents God's love for his children which shows patience and understanding. That it's not a conversation that we can have that he won't understand the interpretation of how we feel because he knows our heart. Which it brings me back to the scene where he spoke to kafni and he stated " I asked a lot of those who followed me, but I asked little of those who do not"

I think the basic answer is found when Mary went to visit Elizabeth and the 6 month old baby John leaped in her womb!! Luke 1:41: "And it came to pass, that, when Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the babe leaped in her womb; and Elisabeth was filled with the Holy Ghost:" Enough said about their relationship I think!! :D

My thoughts are that John felt sure about Jesus being the One until in prison, when he may have experienced the "dark night of the soul" which is said to happen to many people who draw very close to God. I believe Jesus assured and strengthened John by His beautiful answer.

Excellent conversation. If I may submit what I have gleaned from John sending word to ask Jesus, are you the one? John is in prison awaiting execution. His end is near. As with anyone in flesh, if given the opportunity to reflect over the course of your life, knowing the end is at hand....it would be natural to have some nerves. Not doubt, not fear.... Just reassurance. That yes, the purpose of his life is being fulfilled, and yes, Jesus' purpose is being fulfilled as well and they will reunite soon. To go into death with peace knowing Jesus IS the Resurrection.

My opinion, and I haven’t even seen all of season 1 yet, is that we are getting a well rounded Jesus here and the portrayals are probably very close to the real thing. We get the flavor and the sense of being there in their time. The Messenger special made my friend and I cry when Jesus was born. Joseph moving the animal droppings really brought it home. I have wept thinking of the King of Kings being laid in a feeding trough because this isn’t how we would do it. Years ago, I had convinced a friend to read the Bible and to pay special attention to Jesus’ words. He is not speaking the way a man would speak. My friend read the whole Bible and came to faith. He read the whole Bible in a couple of weeks because he had gotten caught up in how real it appeared. Shalom

Who knows "God" or "Jesus" to Their entirety? There is so much depth to Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. The farther you go in life, the more sides unfold of The Trinity! They are like an infinity faceted diamond - Just as you figure one side out of each, another side is revealed. Because Jesus walked on earth, He acted accordingly - but not sinning. Oh, how I long to meet Him face to face as did those whom Jesus walked and talked with and healed. Someday I will know Him in His fullness; and I don't think it will be much longer before I do!

Being a Christ follower myself, this series has allowed me to delve into their world as it could very well have happened. What a joy this is. It brings into the scene, humanity. No matter how anyone “feels” about this series, it draws us in with its depiction of real events with all of Jesus’ miracles and interactions with all the people of the time. I don’t think any one person can say with certainty what really happened while Jesus walked among us. I’ve accepted this Series and probably the closest anyone has come to what it may have been like to be there. Keep it up and so very much looking forward to more episodes. God bless and keep you

People, me included, find it easier to believe that all who went before us were strict even to the point of being super humans above levity or humor. Is it so unreasonable to think they were humans with personalities who laughed and made light moments? After all we must remember that we are created in Gods own image and so we know that God created mankind to know joy during our journey.

Love the discussions! Someone may have already given their opinion on this long question I but I found this an interesting question to ponder: How do you reconcile Elizabeth's words to Mary (Luke 1:42-45) and the prophecy of John's father who was Zechariah ( Luke 1:67-79) and yet John not recognizing Jesus as the Savior until decades later . (John 1:30-34)--....After me is coming a Man who has proved to be my superior, because He existed before me.’ 31 And I did not recognize Him, but so that He would be revealed to Israel, I came baptizing in water.” 32 And John testified, saying, “I have seen the Spirit descending as a dove out of heaven, and He remained upon Him. 33 And I did not recognize Him, but He who sent me to baptize in water said to me, ‘He upon whom you see the Spirit descending and remaining upon Him, this is the One who baptizes in the Holy Spirit.’ 34 And I myself have seen, and have testified that this is the Son of God.

I think we often forget (at least I have) that these people (John the Baptist, Elijah etc.,) weren't super humans. They were flawed humans who served a super God. Doesn't James 5:17 say Elijah was a man just like us? Whether he or John questioned Jesus or not (no one knows for sure) as it regards our salvation, it really doesn't matter. The main thing to understand and acknowledge is Jesus's willingness to entertain questions from those who love him. He is the Rabbi/Teacher and He is still teaching us the ways of God. I for one am grateful that I can ask questions of Him and express my doubts without fear of receiving condemnation.

I think this was one of my favorite scenes. Shows the reality of Jesus and his cousin's interaction with each other. I didn't think anybody should be offended by it. I loved it. The Chosen shows that Jesus has a sense of humor and so does John the Baptist. If people are offended by it, they need to get over it. People need to be offended more by what they watch on tv nowadays. Movies full of sex and cursing. The Chosen including this scene needs to be on tv for all to watch. The Chosen can draw peoples hearts back to God. I loved the scene.

I always thought when John didn't want to baptize Jesus it was totally different; John didn't feel worthy of the task. John felt Jesus should baptize him! Jesus, as the Son of Man, didn't need a baptismal like other mere men. John had no doubts at that point. And when Jesus insisted, John agreed, and the Holy Spirit descended on Jesus like a dove. In fact much later, Jesus’ apostles’ had trouble casting out a demon (or something like that ) because they were baptizing the way John had, as repentance of sins, but not in the name of the Holy Spirit also.

Does that mean he didn't know that Jesus was the Messiah until then?

The single most important message of all prophets to their people was to worship God alone and none else and to follow His teachings. All of them, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Ishmael, Moses, Aaron, David, Solomon, Jesus, Muhammad and others, in addition to those we do not know - invited people to worship God and shun false gods.
Moses declared:"Hear, O Israel The Lord our God is one Lord."(Deuteronomy 6:4). This was repeated 1500years later by Jesus, when he said: "The first of all the commandments is, ‘Hear, O Israel; the Lord our God is one Lord.’(Mark 12:29)
So, the greatest commandment, the most important belief according to Jesus, is that God is one. If Jesus was God he would have said, ‘I am God, worship me.’ Instead, he merely repeated a verse from the Old Testament confirming that God is One.
This aligns with the mission of Jesus, as taught in Islam, where Jesus was sent to the Children of Israel to confirm the message of the past Prophets - to believe in the One True God.
most Christians nowadays believe in trinity.. Jesus said i came not to destroy the commandments of moses i came just to fulfill.
Muslims reject the Christian belief that God is a Trinity, not only because the Quran rejects it, but also because if this was God’s true nature, He would have clearly revealed it to Abraham, Noah, Jesus and all of the other prophets.
ISLAM is the submission in worship to Allah Alone and it is the essence of all the Messages sent to all nations before us. Allah is All-Just and All-Wise. He does not intend confusion for His Creation. The religion accepted to Him is the one chosen by Him. Its essence must be One, because He is One. It is free from geographical, racist, and status oriented concepts. It is Perfect and it is the complete way of life. All these qualities are chosen by Allah in His Only Religion: Islam. Its details are in in the Qur’an, read it and come with an open heart because none can expose better than the World of Allah. The Qur’an was revealed to Prophet Muhammad. He did not author it. The Bible is distorted

There is no scriptural indication that John knew Jesus was Messiah prior to seeing the Spirit descending on him. It is ASSUMED because John leapt in his mother's womb. But that does not necessarily mean conscious awareness. It was supernatural, after all. John could very well have been told what sign to look for because Jesus had not yet been revealed as the One. Remember that at the wedding in Cana He said it was "not yet my time." Assumptions are iffy, at best.

When I read scripture, I always felt the reason John the Baptist sent his disciples to ask, “Are you the one to come after me or shall we wait for another” is because he doubted in that moment. And Jesus sent the message back of what He was doing, which reveals that He is the messiah. But those scriptures show that John doubted in that moment. So I felt the convo was real inaccurate because he clearly never really asked Him if He was the one…

Jesus and John the Baptist were cousins and closely related by the circumstances of their birth, yet they had no direct acquaintance with each other. The life of Jesus had been spent at Nazareth in Galilee; that of John, in the wilderness of Judea. Amid widely different surroundings they had lived in seclusion, and had had no communication with each other. Providence had ordered this. No occasion was to be given for the charge that they had conspired together to support each other's claims.DA 109.2
