Yeah, let’s have a “conversation” about: -Infant baptism -Purgatory -Confession to priests -Praying to (worshipping) Mary -Praying to so-called saints -Dead relatives becoming guardian angels -Priestly celibacy -Putting “traditions” of the church above clear scripture -Replacing Christ as head of the church with a pope -Mary as “sinless” (aka, the “immaculate conception”) -Catholics (the pope) magically turning 2 sacraments into 7. -absolute HERETICAL view that the priest turns a wafer and wine into Christ’s body and blood. -Equally heretical, that consuming this wafer and wine is saving you. Etc, etc etc etc.... ANY church filled with this much blasphemy, heresy, and idolatry has NO PLACE at any table TO START ANY “CONVERSATION.” They and their sad victims should repent and abandon the false teachings and follow the clear teachings of the Bible, not your priest. Seriously, open the Bible. The true Holy Spirit will lead you into all truth.
I wholeheartedly agree! Even though I take issue with certain Catholic doctrines, I really appreciate the real discussions that we see here. The division in the Body of Christ has always bothered me and to see Jesus bring us together in humility and just talk reasonably with one another about our interpretations and understandings is the way it is supposed to be from God's word. Shalom!
You nailed it. Mary didn't ever have all the answers, but she had all the trust. The Bible repeatedly says, "Mary pondered these things in her heart." She didn't know the answers, but the trusted and spent a great deal of time thinking about the mysteries unfolding around and through her.
This is Luke writing as a doctor. Luke interviewed our Lady and shows that he even analyzed her emotionally, and even as doctor gives us clues of Jesus being TALLER than average. many things and clues reading Luke's writings!!!
I'm a solid Catholic and love this show so very much. Mary helped lead me back to Jesus after being lost for many years. Thank you, Dallas, for this special show.
I come from the other end of the Christian spectrum and could not agree more. That Christians no matter what their backgrounds (except for a few) embrace this means it must be special.
@@johnfrancis4401, I agree. This IS nitpicking.....I don't like that she has earrings on and they also look like something we'd wear today. She just doesn't seem like how I picture the Mother of God.
Unfortunately these two gentlemen didn't answer Dallas's questions directly so here are the answers: 1.) Catholicism DOES NOT teach that Mary should be worshipped in any way, and 2.) Catholicism DOES NOT teach that Mary is equal to Jesus
I love this actor who portrays jesus, he is strong, not skinny and weak. He has a sence of humor. His eyes exude compassion and authority at the same time.
@@Accolaidia777 yes i agree, this movie brings the bible to life for a visual learner. I felt Gods presence during the entire series. It felt like i was literally watching Jesus and his disciples ss well as all the people in and around his life. I loved the Matthew actor too. And Peter, i imagine bim to be just like that. Even peter jad a hard time trusting and obeying the Lord. Matthew, no doubts at all just layed it all down and followed Him.
Nobody's idolizing this man who portrays Jesus. There is way too much nit picking here and legalism. This is the most realistic portrayal of the people of the bible I have ever seen. The church is so busy pointing fingers at each other that it makes unsaved and lost turned off by church and everything about it. We are commanded to love ithers as ourselves and share the good news of the gosple.
I was Baptist and now Catholic (2 years old) and I discovered the sweetness of Mary and the power of her prayers for us in front of her son. When I saw that chapter with Mary asking Jesus "please" and then the non-verbal scenes between Jesus and Mary, I cried and laugh of joy because I could see what she is actually doing for us. Definitely Mary brings you closer to her son Jesus.
Bless the Lord.. So happy to read your comment. Yes that is the true essence of Mary but the world still does not know Her and the devil will do everything in his power to keep it so.
@@releavantgs9775 Well, so don't ask your pastor or brothers to pray for you. If you do are you replacing God for idols? On another note, 1000 years before the protestant telephone game appear, even more, during the first 300 years of Christianity, 80 years before the Catholic Church declared the canon of the Bible in 382 AD, the Christians ask their passed-away brothers/sister to pray for them, especially Mary. Why, because the Church is a family of the living not of dead and it is not limited to the brothers down here.
@@releavantgs97751) All those in Christ are not "dead" but alive. 2)We do not replace God. God is God, worshiped alone. Simply ask those of us in the faith, we will tell you Christ is our summit.
I love the way Dallas approaches this talk. I’m Catholic, and I love our Blessed Mother, and I love how they picture Mary in the show. @Catherine Morland. I think you misunderstood me. I never said I never respected her......I should have said ' more' of a respect. But that is my fault. Sorry about that! I will say I am not Catholic so I don't hold her in as high of a position as Catholics do. To me, Jesus is the one who should be exalted over all of creation.
I thought it was really interesting how, when he was 12 and wanted to follow his Father, he said to Mary "If not now, when?" But she knew he was too young and she wasn't ready to let him go. And then at the wedding of Cana, it was she who said "if not now, when?" And the look of almost sadness when she looked at him after the miracle, as if she knew his ministry had begun and there was no turning back.
It’s difficult to let our children go. It had to be very difficult for Mary to see Jesus enter His ministry, knowing it would end with His crucifixion. God prepared Mary, and gave her strength. God is merciful.
As a Catholic, that "please" moment and Jesus tending to her request filled me with joy and tears. It was beautiful. We cherish our Blessed Mother's powerful intercession and love.
YB 44 Jesus corrected unsound doctrine without compromise. Correction of doctrine is done in Christ's love. Dallas can speak with whomever he chooses, as can we, but at the end of the day: Have we corrected unsound doctrine? Or have we compromised?
Check out the Fuel Project on UA-cam. Know your enemy series. Start from the beginning. They cover the catholic church around the 23rd episode. June Gerber this is the creed - The Apostles Creed - what Catholics believe and profess: I believe in God, the Father Almighty, Creator of heaven and earth, and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died and was buried; He descended into hell; on the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from there He will come to judge the living and the dead. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the Holy Catholic Church, the communion of Saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and life everlasting. We most definitely are Christian and believe that Jesus Christ is the second person of the Holy Trinity and that He died to redeem us and save us from our sins. We renounce satan and all his works and empty promises . I don’t know where you got your information from, but it is indisputably incorrect. What if I was to say that all Protestants aren’t Christian because you are not Catholic? That would be insensitive wouldn’t it? And also not true. Please think about giving Catholics the same respect. Read about the Catholic Faith by a Catholic if you truly desire to know what we profess to be true, not by Protestants who are misguided about the teachings and beliefs of the Catholic Faith.

The commandment which prohibits the service to idols, after Jesus Christ has taken flesh from rhe Blessed Virgin Mary, lived with us and redeemed us, refers to anything outside of God which or who occupies in our lives the absolute rank. This rank is reserved only to the Triune God Himself: We are called to serve Him with all our love and all our forces (1. commandment).
I'll be honest, one of the other things I look at from the outside in the catholics is the rosary. How do they explain the vain repetition? Matthew 6:7 - But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking.

I am Catholic. Mary of "The Chosen" not only is shown very well. It is the Catholic understanding of her. Apart from God Himself, she was the human decision go on with God's plan to save us. She brought Him as a human man, she brought Him up as a boy and young man and gave Him the best a human could ever give to Him. If we could do anything to and for Him. We do not worship her, we adore her like a star bringing Him to us. She is the strongest most clear sign on our path. At the wedding she does this very gentle and smart and she advices us to turn to Him anytime and as a women and mother she supports our needs and wishes to Him. She is attorney No 1. - No - she is our mother. Yes, she is - my second name is Maria - looking back, she often stood at cross-roads and steadied my feet.

Just a little note because I think it’s important to mention... At the Wedding Feast at Cana Jesus says to Mary (in the original Greek) “Woman, what to me to thee? My hour has not yet come”. (It is a particular idiomatic expression) 1) Jesus calls Mary “Woman” because Mary is the New Eve. John parallels Genesis from day one to day Adam & Eve. Many typology parallels between Mary and Eve... this is just one allusion. Note: If you arrive at the conclusion that Jesus calls Mary “Woman” because he is being rude to her, think again! 2) “What to me to thee?” Expression is inclusive of Mary, not only will Jesus’ life change after this first public miracle but so will Mary’s. Some bibles render this expression “Why are you concerning me with this?” Or “why are you bothering me with this?”.... no! It’s “what to me to thee”... inclusive of Mary not excluding her. 3) As Simeon prophecies to Mary, she will undergo her own passion at the Cross (just as WE are each called to do the same for love of sinners). So Our Lord’s Hour includes Mary... again not excluding her. Very beautiful. See redemptive suffering and St Paul Col 1:24. We have a beautiful and humble Lord. Mary’s soul magnifies the Lord. The more you look at Mary the more you realise you are seeing in fullness the humility and majesty and beauty of God. God bless you all. Such a great show. Thank you!!! Hope that helps. Happy blessed Sunday! Love the show.

@Sm Gloria Jesus died for me and the sins of all mankind. God does not need Mary, and God does not need any of us, but God sees fit to make us to bring Him glory. He did not need Mary to be the means through which our Lord is brought into the world, but he chose her and made her as he saw worthy to do these tasks for his glory. Jesus is our one mediator, because he is the means through which our sins can be forgiven. But, that doesn’t mean that other people can’t pray for us or do good works that can contribute to people’s salvation, because of the merits and grace of Jesus. For example, preaching the gospel is one act that could contribute to the salvation of someone, because of the merit and grace of God. Mary is a great handmaid through which God brought the Savior into the world, and he made her as he saw worthy for this task, through the grace that he gave her of her Immaculate Conception (conceived without original sin). We don’t worship Mary, we venerate (highly honor her). These two concepts are entirely different, because worship is reverence purely for a deity, and has always been connected with sacrifice. Catholic theology defines worship due only to God as latria. The honor to Mother Mary is called hyperdulia, because it is high honor. Some reasons we venerate Mary are because she is the humble handmaid of the Lord (Psalm 31:30), she is our mother (John 19:27), she is queen of Heaven (Rev 12:1-2), and she is seen fit by God to be the way through which our Lord enters the world, and therefore to play a crucial role in the salvation of mankind. She can help us greatly through her intercession to her son. It is her son who is the source, but she can make requests to God from a motherly perspective, and Christ responds abundantly to her requests, as seen in the Wedding at Cana. As Catholics, we ask the intercession of saints, just as you might ask someone else to pray for you. We ask saints, because they are a cloud of witnesses watching over us (Heb 12:1) and are praying for us in Heaven (Rev 5:8). Therefore, they can witness our request for prayers, and as holy people in Heaven, their prayers are more powerful than our own (James 5:16, 1 Pet 3:12). This is why the earliest Christians, such as Hermas (ad 80), Clement of Alexandria (ad 208), and Origen (ad 233) talk about the intercession of the saints and angels. The Bible teaches the dogma of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary. First, God promised to make a woman with emnity to Satan, whose offspring will crush Satan. Mary is whose offspring crushed Satan, and being born without original sin is the only way she could be in complete enmity with Satan. In fact, we see this dogma in clearer terms in Luke 1:28, when the angel Gabriel called Mary “full of grace.” In the original text, the Greek word Kecharitomene is used, which is uniquely in the present perfect passive tense, which means “to have been endowed with grace.” The angel also gives honor to Mary, when every other time in Scripture, humans are below and honor angels. So, the angel was saying that there was a special and honorable amount of grace given to her before her son was born. The Catholic Church teaches that she was given the grace to be born without original sin out of the merits of her son that were counted beforehand for her. If you seek Mary’s intercession faithfully, she will bring you to Jesus.
It's not that Catholics just choose to honor Mary, it is God who did that by choosing her to be His mother. Catholics just recognize this obvious biblical idea
“And I heard another voice from heaven saying, “Come out of her, my people, lest you share in her sins, and lest you receive of her plagues. For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.” Revelation 18:4-5 NKJV Read the entire bible. Jesus is the only deity and did ALL THE WORK on the cross. Mary didn’t even run to the tomb to see if Jesus had risen on the third day. Read the Bible is the most important message you will ever hear. Learn the truth of all the pagan origins that exist within Roman Catholicism. Jesus is the hero. Him alone. Mary did very little in actuality. TRUTH is missing in the Catholic religion. Religion and rituals and traditions are all man made and have nothing to do with the gospel message. Read the four gospels in the New Testament. The rosary prayer is the exact opposite of what Jesus said. He said not to do repetitive petitions over and over like the religious leaders do hoping to be seen but to instead pray in secret or private where no one sees you. God forbids praying to the deceased and Mary along with the other saints that Catholics pray to would roll over in their graves to know people are praying to them. They absolutely cannot hear the prayers of Catholics. God is the only one we pray to and in Jesus name we pray amen. “For there is one God and one mediator, between God and man, the man Christ Jesus”. “Call no man father for there is one father and that is your Heavenly Father”. There’s so many fallacies in the Catholic cult. It is heresy to pray to Mary and put her on such a high pedestal. It’s sickening to see all the discrepancies of that religion to biblically educated people. Religion is a farce. All we need as Christians is to be born again, read the Gospel of John 3. And receive the Holy Spirit who is there to teach us everything there is to know in the scriptures by reading them. So you need the Holy Spirit to guide you thru God’s Holy Word and a KJV bible or a NKJV. Don’t even get me started on that mere mortal man that pretends to be the vicar of Christ. He is an abomination to Jesus Christ. Jesus had no where to lay His sweet head most nights. He was broke while spreading the gospel message with His disciples. While your pope rides around in a golden chariot. Abominable works that church does. I realize most Catholics are completely ignorant to the truth but that needs to change. Read Revelation 18. I think that chapter is a prophecy of that organization which hated Jesus from the beginning. They crucified prophets. It’s damnable heresy.
@@truthseeker8249 1. Catholics know that Jesus is the second person of the Trinity, the one Triune God. We also assent completely to his finished work on the cross. There is not one good thing a human has done, ever since Adam and Eve, that has been of our own doing. We know this. 2. If you believe in the Bible, you believe that Mary was visited by an angel announcing to her that she will bear the Messiah. Why in the world would she ever doubt Christ's divinity or need proof of it? The apostles did not understand that Jesus would rise on the third day, but she did. She knew all her life who Jesus was, better than the apostles could due to her unique calling (again, not because of her own doing, but because God Himself chose her to be the mother of Christ). Even if you believe that she had no idea that Jesus would rise, she did know of his Divinity in a much deeper way, needing no further proof of it. I really don't see how her not going to the tomb is a problem for you. 3. True, reading the Bible is an essential aspect of Christianity. Ignoring Scripture is ignoring Christ (the Word, as John calls Him in his Gospel). 4. Pagan origins? As if the whole Old Testament isn't filled with God-given instructions for liturgy and worship that, to this day, appalls atheists and non-believers. Are we really going to pretend that Romans didn't think that Christians were lunatics because of what they preached? Are you going to criticize Jesus Christ for celebrating Passover and other Jewish festivals? Tradition, regardless of what it entails, is what shapes our beliefs. The Bible did not fall from the sky, and it was written and compiled by men, inspired by God. That is, the Bible is part of the Christian Tradition, even if we disagree on what the Christian Tradition is.5. Jesus is not only the hero, he is God, together with the Father and the Holy Spirit. Again, we know this. 6. Yes, she only carried the Messiah, our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ in her womb. Very little compared to Moses, who took Israel to the promised land (not because of his great holiness or as a reward, but by God's command). I mean, suit yourself, keep believe birthing the Messiah through God's command (as he commanded and directed the patriarchs and the prophets to spread his message and lead His people before the coming of Christ) is a small thing. 7. Matthew 5:17. Jesus literally instructed His disciples to prepare a Passover meal before being crucified...I don't think that is congruent with the belief that religion/rituals/tradition are an abomination to God (not to mention all of the Old Testament, which is filled with God-given instructions on how to worship e.g. Leviticus). 8. Beautiful call to read the Gospels; but the Bible is not limited to the Gospels. 9. The rosary prayer is not a contradiction of Jesus's commands. He does not condemn repetition, He condemns VAIN repetitions. If repetition itself is wrong, singing worship music is wrong if one single chorus repeats itself. Ridiculous even by your own standards, but if you wish to never sing a worship song...again, suit yourself. 10. Do you believe James 5:16? Why is a righteous man's prayer more efficient than an unrighteous one? Do you believe Christ's words in Luke 23:43? Did this thief keep on being unrighteous in Heaven, or is he now as God is, righteous and truly fit for Heaven? Do you believe 1 Samuel 28:16-19? How could Samuel have any idea of what was going on between God and Saul if he was gone and anyone who is no longer on Earth is able to know of earthly affairs (which you are placing as the only possible truth)? Btw, praying to saints is not exclusive to Catholics; the Orthodox do so as well. 12. Yes. Established. 13. Yes, Jesus was the only one that could repair our sins and mediate between humanity and God. Does that mean the apostles did not function as mediators between the Gentiles and God? Of course, God didn't need it to be that way, but He chose that path. If you believe the apostles were not mediators between any man and God in ANY SINGLE INSTANCE OR CAPACITY, I think we are simply understading "mediation" differently. 14. You can't call anyone teacher either if you apply this logic as an absolute in every single situation. This was obviously not a point against what you call another person on Earth, but the faith that you can wrongly deposit on them. 15. Atheists seem to believe that there are thousands of fallacies in Christian beliefs, regardless of denomination. Should everyone adopt that sort of skepticism, or should we be more honest and read more into things? I'm not claiming you cannot be correct, but your lack of charity is astounding. 16. It is not heresy to pray to her, for the heart of the faithful is not praying to her APART from God. God put her on the highest pedestal a human could possibly be put on by having her bear Christ in her womb, no need for us to do anything further. 17. Again, emotional and "holier-than-thou" arguments. Religion is not a farce. Whether you like it or not, whatever it is that you believe, that is your "religion". Not having "rituals" or "tradition" doesn't make Buddhism or Shinto a "non-religion". It is still a religion; maybe what you mean is that you don't think religion should look like Catholicism, but God and religion are synonymous e.g. Old Testament. 18. That is not all we need, Jesus repeats over and over again things need to do apart from that e.g. Luke 18. John 3 describes being born again AND believing in Christ, two different steps not exclusive from one another, but distinct. Being "born again" is a broad statement that requires more in-depth analysis from any believer, regardless of your denomination I think we can agree on this. 19. True. However, I think we can both agree that if Catholics, Orthodox, Evangelical, Lutheran, Anglicans and other Christian denominations all claim to be guided by the Holy Spirit, only one of those churches is stating the truth. Not even those that are similar, such as Methodists and Baptists, or Catholics and Orthodox, converge in ALL matters of faith. I leave it to you to decide which one holds the truth among the others. 20. You mean the Pope? A human being, that is a sinner as much as you and me are? And yet, despite all the truths that you and I agree on about Jesus's status during his ministry, He was perfumed with an oil worth 300 denarii before being crucified, and when Judas criticized this act of worship from the woman, Jesus rebuked him and prophesied that this woman's act would be remembered and praised through generations. The Catholic Church runs thousands of hospitals, elderly homes, and other forms of charity. You don't have to take my word for that, just research it honestly. Some priests literally take vows of poverty and renounce everything they have and will have. 21. Trust me, Catholics that actually submit to the Word of God and study Scripture are not ignorant despite seeing things differently than you do. Most Catholic apologists and scholars seem to be converts, I wonder why... 22. I think you need to stop reading your personal feelings and interpretations into Scripture. Honestly, I know that reading this will change absolutely nothing, nothing at all about your perception on Catholics. I know that you will pray for me, for this bondage and blindness that you think I am in. I know that you will believe I am being deceived. Which is fine, if your objective is not to be right but for the salvation of my soul. In the end, God will triumph and give the heart that searches Him what it is searching. I rarely post comments, but I can't bring myself to ignore what you have posted, in the hopes that others that are dubious might esteem both of our positions and make their own decisions. I truly love you brother/sister, despite you calling me a heretic, a hater of Christ. I hope that one day we will meet in Heaven and discuss all of what we held as the Truth while we were on Earth. My only challenge to you is to be humble and charitable. If you believe Catholics are ignorant heretics, calling them ignorant heretics will get you nowhere. Start imitating Paul and the way he evangelized and defendend the faith, from the very people that called themselves Christians such as the Corinthians. God Bless!
Former catholic here: 1. Catholics idolize Mary through several different variations 2. the LORD Jesus Christ addressed Mary as "woman", not mother, in the King James Bible.
It’s refreshing to see a non-Catholic Christian be so respectful about our devotion to Mary. Mary is not Jesus and we do not worship her. But she was chosen by God to bring our Savior into the world. For me, personally, our Blessed Mother guided me to her son. I may never have known Jesus if hi weren’t for his mother. God bless.
@@carriebasso5075 as Catholics we do not believe one is ever truly saved on earth. We believe Jesus died and rose from the dead to save us but this life itself is a test and one can fall off the road of salvation at any moment. Just look at Judas as an example of this. For that reason we do not use the term saved for living people, those in Heaven are saved and so the goal is to continue down the right path by following the teachings of our savior Jesus Christ and make it to salvation.

The differences in the Body of Christ are so painful. We need to appreciate this show for all the good it does, and not get hung up on relatively minor things. I hope it will be taken that way, and thus empower the cause of Christ. No one is going to agree with everything, and if that were our criteria nothing would ever get accomplished. (See Christian history for how the church can be terribly self-destructive.) So let's pray for everyone involved in this project, that they would develop it in the most beneficial way. Not only is it edifying the Body of believers, it is going to be a fantastic evangelistic tool. Blessings.
If the truth is hidden from you, would you not want it revealed? As a part of the body of Christ, I to have a job to do for God‘s kingdom. God can use all of us, What Dallas is doing, what you are doing and what I am doing and not only that, perhaps he wants it all together in one place to bring about Truth, Unity, Love and Forgiveness.
Bob Smith The enemy wants you to put respect above Truth, but the truth is that there is Greater Respect in giving the Truth. Do you think your dad would’ve liked to have been respected enough to have been given the truth about the doctrine that opened the door to sexual immorality causing that priest to molest him? While I am thankful your dad came to the truth and forgave, how many go lost because of what these priests have done to our Children!!!! I could write So much on this subject but I will keep it simple. Spiritual Adultery (going to a priest for absolution worshiping and praying to anyone who is not God Almighty or believing that taking a wafer is remaining in Christ rather than studying His Word, Worshiping and praying to Him alone) is spiritual adultery and it manifests itself into sexual immorality and that spirit wreaks havoc for those who don’t know, who lay ignorant of God’s Word because they’ve been given, “not the Bible” to be read with The Holy Spirit as The Spirit of Truth Who Leads us into all Truth but instead, the Catholic church doctrine of worship of Mary instead of The Savior. Take a look at what happened with the Israelites when the made the gold calf........they worshipped another, this spiritual adultery turned into sexual immorality as they began having orgies with each other, men with men and women with women. God turned them over to their ways! Here we can see in Romans 1 a bit of what I’m talking about. But before I give this, I’d like to say that I pray for this film most everyday, I do not want it to fail, I love that it’s bringing people to read and study God’s Word. I’m concerned that some of it can cause confusion because even I after watching had to stop and try to remember an instance in the Bible that I had to determine whether I read a certain part as truth in God’s Word or did I see it in the film. Anyhow, here is the scripture I wanted to share~in love, not malice; if I seem angry, it’s because I am, I’m angry this doctrine still exists and hurts Children. 5 That is why I am so eager to preach the gospel also to you who are in Rome. 16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile. 17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed--a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,fn just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”fn 18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness, 19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them. 20 For since the creation of the world God’s invisible qualities--his eternal power and divine nature--have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made, so that people are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they neither glorified him as God nor gave thanks to him, but their thinking became futile and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles. 24 Therefore God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. 25 They exchanged the truth about God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator--who is forever praised. Amen. 26 Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. 27 In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their error. 28 Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done. 29 They have become filled with every kind of wickedness, evil, greed and depravity. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit and malice. They are gossips, 30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents; 31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy. 32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. Romans 1:5-32

Teresa Vaughn The religious are the most difficult to save. This is why the remnant church is and always has been very small. John 3:3 Jesus said, "You must be born again." And this is why there is only a small remnant of believers because to regenerate we must worship in Spirit and in Truth. Otherwise it is 'strange fire' to God and not all worship is accepted. He is very clear about this in Scripture. But if people do not want to hear it, then we must leave it at the Foot of God. He ultimately knows who will accept Him and who won't. At least we brought them the Truth, the rest is up to God. I hope you remain strong in the Word and that you continue to bring the Truth to the deceived. For it truly is astounding how many people will perish for lack of knowledge. But for those who outright reject the God of the Bible for their religion? It's not good. Not good at all.

There's a lot of history to Catholicism . A lot including pagan origins . I realise most Catholics are away from the truth of Christ & the Bible . The popes rides in big gold chariots while Jesus was broke when he was ministering & didn't have a place to lay his head on . They make idols & worship the disciples , saints , Mary when that's NOT what the Gospel says or what Jesus said . And about Mary we do not know what power she has or doesn't have. Fantastic and wonderful dialogue! Thank you for being so gracious to ask these questions. We love our protestant brothers and sisters! Mary is the 1st and highest Saint who exemplifies the perfect Christian response to Christ. Her humble obedience and through her intimate maternal relationship, she shares something unique that no other Christian could ever experience. As Catholics we acknowledge that her salvation in Christ was established in advance, given to her to prepare her for the most holiest, humbling and blessed experience, to be the Mother of Our Lord and Saviour. Much like the Ark of the Covenant, she is an honoured vessel, that bore and protected Our Lord. This is why Luke in his Gospel, focused his opening to her story, and that "all generations will call me blessed." We do not worship her, but simply honour her place in heaven, that she directs us to her son, who is our only God and Saviour; and hear her echo to us, "Do whatever He tells you." Praise be to Jesus!

Kay VanderVeen Dallas should be going on God's Word ALONE. Without compromise. The Chosen series is just that: a man made show. People should be fully immersed in God's Word not The Chosen series. Your idolatry is leading you to compromise: "Shame on those who don't support the process"? How "of the world" of you. Shamefully of the world. There is much error in what Dallas has done here: New Believers in Christ may become confused. Period. I'll leave it to you, to try and figure out how. Pray in Jesus Name for you to see it.
Dallas Jenkins I am defending God's Word above the series and against the "round table" discussion which you chose to do with a Catholic priest. Roman Catholicism is not of the God of the Bible. It is a heretical religion whose doctrine is unbiblical. It is a works based salvation. "We are saved by grace through faith in Saviour Lord Jesus Christ; lest no man boast." Ephesians 2: 8-9 New Believers in Christ may become confused and think: Catholicism is of the Judeo-Christian origin, which it is not. Catholicism preaches a different gospel. They know a different Jesus. Jesus said: "Many will come in My Name, do not believe them." "In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God and the Word was God." John 1:1 The WORD is Christ. No compromise. None. Compromise comes in ALL forms. "And no wonder, even Satan comes disguised as an angel of light." 2 Corinthians 11:14
@@gracefaithsaved Can you quote the parts of the Catechism that shows a different gospel? If you are going to be critical, consider if you know from the source what it actually teaches. Dallas is merely being fair in hearing what the Catholic Church teaches. As for the Bible, the Catholic Church gave you the Bible in canonized form. I learned that first in a Protestant institution before I was led by the Lord to the Catholic Church. Try around paragraph 1980 on what the CC actually teaches on salvation.
Jason Miller I am not religious. I follow Jesus. I read His Word. And His Word Alone. Catholicism is a work based salvation doctrine. It is a different gospel. Stop trying to sell your false heretical doctrine. I will not quote the catechism because it is heresy. But I will quote Ephesians 2:8-9 "We are saved by GRACE through FAITH in Christ; lest no man should boast." I have many religious lost in my life. I pray for them. They are spiritually bankrupt because of heretical doctrine. Catholicism is a CULT. I pray that you are saved out of it just as I pray for my dear ones. Religion is a curse from Satan. Do not be deceived.
This series not only portrayed Jesus and his disciples in an amazing but also the Blessed Virgin Mary. They didn't just sideline her as unimportant but portrayed her and her role perfectly! Ad Iesum per Mariam
Get real! If a virgin gives birth, she is no longer a virgin! And Joseph and Mary had a bunch of kids together! Mary and me have about two things not in common. She gave birth to Jesus Christ. But we both worship Jesus Christ as our Lord and King and God! She has been in Heaven quite a while, I'm still on this earth. But we are both children of God!
@@SoniaJbrt Your hatred for the mother of God is showing. A virgin is one who has not had sexual intercourse with someone so even though she gave birth to Christ, she remained a virgin. And no, her and Joseph had no other children. If she did, Jesus would have given his mother to his supposed siblings when he was on the cross instead of giving her to his beloved disciple. Joseph never had sex with Mary. How could he? To go in where the Lord of Lords, King of Kings, true God came out from? Are you insane? If they call the land where Jesus walked holy, how much more holy is the body of Mary for holding in GOD himself. You are sinner as I am. Mary was, is and always will be without sin and full of grace.
@@Jus4kiks Yes Mary is, was and always will be sinless. How is that hard for you to comprehend? Is such thing impossible to God? Adam and Eve were made sinless as well until after they sinned. You don't think God would save the ONE human woman that would bear God himself, the holiest of holies from the stain of sin? Even the Ark of the Covenant had to be made of pure gold (emphasis on pure) to hold within the tablets of the commandments, manna and the priest staff. How much more pure would the human that holds God himself, the law himself, the bread of himself, the king priest himself have to be.
Yah’ Ren Adam and Eve brought sin into the world, everyone including them have sinned. Only one who has not sinned is Jesus Christ - hence his death, his holiness being payment for our sins. Unless I missed something in the Bible I don’t see where is says Mary was sinless, I see other scriptures about only God being sinless. Do you have scriptures that mention it? Also in your religion does Mary not have to go through Jesus to be saved, even though the Bible says ‘no man comes to the Father but by him’? If not can you tell me scriptures. I mean no ill will, just learning as everyone is. I believe Mary is blessed to be the mother of Jesus, but is nothing like God, she was human.
I love how every detail is given such special attention - not wanting to deviate from the scriptures and yet keeping the story fresh and realistic... taking care to be in correct standing with the Catholic church and other churches. This is why this series has been embraced and loved the way it has. It's no wonder that the production is reaching all ages and groups of society. One can clearly see that the 'hand of the Lord' is at work here. Watching the various episodes and videos bts, it suddenly struck me that this production is reaching out to all four points of the earth... This is one of the 'end-time signs' spoken of in the Book of Revelations! Praise God!
Wow, Queen Cleo, that means so much, what an awesome and humbling thing to ponder. Thank you for your amazing partnership-so glad to have you in our Chosen Family!
I am so glad you had this meeting with Catholic priests. I am Catholic and have loved watching The Chosen. I share the links to your interviews and other videos. I promote the show every chance I get. It has helped me better understand my struggles with my faith. I've never lost faith but I wasn't nurturing it either. Thank you for rekindling my faith through The Chosen.
I looooved watching this series ... Awesome! Can’t wait for Season 2. I wondered why at the wedding at Cana, Jesus was depicted as calling Mary “Mother”, rather than “Woman”. Jesus’ reference to Mary as “Woman” is quite significant because it points to something deeper, i.e., the new Eve - the Woman that carried the seed that will crush the head of the serpent. At the wedding at Cana, Jesus not only revealed who he is publicly for the first time, he also publicly revealed who Mary is - Jesus, the new Adam; Mary, the new Eve. Beautiful connection that speaks to a lot theologically
It is unfortunate that some of the artistic liberties taken end up taking away from many theological aspects such as this. Still, I appreciate the series for moving us into discussing these sort of things that we may not have otherwised discussed among denominations, even though I also think that the depictions in the series might not be the best start for a new Christian convert.
I think it's a modern sensibility thing, it might come across as disrespectful to the audience who wouldn't really get the subtle aspects you have mentioned. Also, as greatly made as this series is, it's still directed by an Evangelical Protestant. No offense to them (and the director), but Mariology and Biblical Typology aren't their strong points. In fact, I'm honestly surprised at how Catholic the show's depiction of Our Lady is.
@@GermanicusCaesar117 I am evangelical and would disagree about that biblical tipology thing, at least for the case of Christ ( that is who realy matters in the end ) my study bible is full of places where it points out Christ tipos in the old testament.
To Jesus through Mary, yes, that’s it. We look to her humility, her obedience, her servitude, her role as mother, and spouse to the Holy Spirit and most beautiful child of The Father
Oh I love this conversation. So much respect for each other’s understandings of the Savior. I learned a lot. I absolutely love the portrayal of Mary and her relationship with her son Jesus. I never understood until now how Jesus ultimately obeyed his Mother thus following the commandments of His Father. She asked and He did. Thank you!
@Authentic Catholic / Católico Auténtico Ex 20:5 "You shall not bow down to them or worship them; for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God". Jesus never gave us Mary as our heavenly mother, you twist the holy scripture. John 19:26 "When Jesus saw his mother there, and the disciple whom he loved standing nearby, he said to her, “Woman, here is your son,” 27 and to the disciple, “Here is your mother.” From that time on, this disciple took her into his home." This is what Jesus said, nothing about heavenly mother, that is blasphemy. We do not have a heavenly mother. Jn 20:27 "Here is your mother" was told literally to John according to his own words, please stop twisting the apostle's words. "She is the spouse of the Holy Spirit", no she is not, Bible doesn't say that about her. Finally, you ask who better than Mary to pray for us, so let the Bible answer to you: Romans 8:26-27 " the Spirit intercedes for God’s people in accordance with the will of God" and Romans 8:34 "Christ Jesus who died--more than that, who was raised to life--is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us." Good luck with Mary praying for you. I know that Christ himself and the Spirit of God intercede for me, I could not have asked for more and I will be satisfied with what He has done for me.
@@junegerber4028 we as catholics say we don't worship her but you all want it to be true so that you can keep complaining about it...It's fine I know my Lord and i don't have to prove myself to anyone. God bless you 😊
@Authentic Catholic / Católico Auténtico without Mary there will always be Salvation. God can choose another good woman. But without Jesus there can be no salvation!
I love how episode in Cana really showed the real theology behind our belowed Mother. She is percieved still as a human and she needs to ask Jesus for help. She doesn't preform miracles for us. But on our behalf she can ask her Son to make our prayers come true.
Dallas you all have done a precious presentation of whatever we have viewed and l am sure the genuineness of what continues will be equally excellent.we are praying for this and all your giant top casts it has to be the BEST EVER.
The most important woman in the bible is Eve. Without her none of us would be here. Unless God would have spawned us from nothing, but Eve deserves more respect. And even then, Mary was just a human, not a deity.
Hi. I’m just a simpleton trying to understand the Catholic beliefs not an argument. My family is Catholic, I’m not. Where in the Bible does it say that Mary intercedes for us?
Emily Fae I’m just a simpleton too! Lol Jesus says to pray for one another. We believe the body of Christ is one body, not divided by those on earth and those in heaven. We choose to turn to Mary as we know from scripture that prayers from the righteous are more effective. So you may ask your friends at church to intercede and pray for you, I do too. However, I also ask my friends and mother in heaven to pray for me. We are all baptized in one spirit. we know all things are thanks to God even if others prayed for us. All Glory and praise is given to God.
Emily Fae that’s kind of you to say! I feel like I’m not always the best at explaining things! Yes, that’s exactly why we pray to saints... the prayers are not prayers of worship and praise, but requests for them to pray for us. I heard the following explanations and thought they were great (I hope I don’t butcher how they were originally said)... say I want to borrow my dad’s car, I ask him, but also ask my mother to ask him for me. She tends to be more persuasive. The ultimate decision and power is his. Another example: of one of your kids wants a toy. They ask for it... but isn’t it harder to say no when their sibling also asks on their behalf? It shows love and unity.
@Karl Jansen dead?? I respectfully disagree. My God is the God of the living... we have eternal life. Revelation shows us the saints offering prayers. John 3:16 tells us we will have ETERNAL life... Moses and Elijah (although Elijah was assumed into heaven) appeared to Jesus. The good thief was told he would be with Jesus that day in paradise... I could go on, but I think you get my point. God bless!
Whenever we recite the Rosary.. We don't pray to Mother Mary.. We pray with Mother Mary.. We honour Mother Mary just like how Jesus honour's his Mother 🙏.. Jesus never says no to his Mother.. ❤🙏
Have you ever asked someone to pray for you? That's what we're asking the Mother of God to do. To intercede for us with Christ. "Hail Mary, full of grace, the Lord is with thee" is a quote from Scripture. We open by quoting the Angel Gabriel's greeting to Mary. "Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus" is another quote from Scripture. These were Elizabeth's words when she greeted Mary. "Holy Mary, Mother of God, pray for us sinners, now and at the hour of our death" is the actual prayer, so to speak. This is our request. That she pray for us. Hope this helped explain what Catholics believe when we pray with Mary. It's basically us acknowledging who she is in relation to Christ, then asking her to pray for us in her position as Mother of God. After all, what son can refuse his mother's requests? The wedding at Cana showed how powerful her intercession can be. God bless!
@@nate9601 read your Bible . It’s literally the words that the angel said to her when she was told she would bear Christ. “ Hail Mary, full of Grace -the lord is with thee .. etc.”..
Everyone on this comment section spouting negativity at different denominations and quoting scripture to defend their place... it feels like you haven't exactly gotten the message of that scene between nicomedus and shmuel. You are limiting God's word to your imperfect human understandings. None of us know if we're doing everything right. If we're understanding the mystery of God's love and law perfectly, but we try to with the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Part of this process, this journey of understanding, is humility and respect for other people's journeys as well. It's best to keep your eyes, hearts, and souls open to the Spirit... lest you be like the Pharisees so stuck in your limited imperfect rules and traditions. Love your neighbors, people. Peace to all. ✌🏻
It's impossible for us not to know when we're following the bible correctly. He did say he will guide the church with the spirit of the truth. The Pharisees are who we should strive not to be because they are hypocrites. Not because of their traditions since we as Christians have our own traditions 1 Cor 11:2 "Now I commend you because you remember me in everything and maintain the traditions even as I delivered them to you."
So what does that mean? I was a Catholic for over 55 years and they have strayed away from the true God and Biblical teachings. How can they rape innocent kids and lie about it for so long. They need to stop twisting what is written in the Bible period.
A Taylor my friend, sexual abuse against children is not limited to just Catholics. It is a universal problem a human problem . I’m sure we can both agree on that . There was a study that said 60% of sexual abuse was in Protestant churches and 40% in the Catholic Church . Celibacy is not the problem
@@juanisidro4849 The Protestants are not the ones who hid the crimes! Show me in the Bible where God instruct his Disciples to molest Kids? In the Bible we are told that kids are a Blessings! No human adult has the right to abuse any kids period but it is worse coming from those who took a Oath to serve God !
A Taylor it’s true that even pastors commit these crimes . Just likecatholic clergy they also hide there crimes . Many former Protestant leave there churches becuase of scandals like these . I never said the Bible says anything about instructing disciples to molest kids. I do agree with you no adult has the right to abuse children .
@@ataylor3581 Now if you just base your faith to imperfect church leaders and not the church itself who Jesus builds through peter, then you are not accepting the truth that Jesus came for the sinners and by the way all of us are sinners. Don't be discourage because of the imeperfect leaders instead focus more on Jesus.
Think of it like this: you are going to dinner at your partner’s house and meeting their parents for the first time. When you get to know their parents better, you get to know your partner better. It’s the same with Mary - when you get to know Mary better, you get to know Jesus better. Another way to describe Mary is to compare her to the sun and moon. The sun produces its own light, and God produces His own light. If God is the sun, then Mary is the moon, because the moon doesn’t produce its own light, but reflects the light of the sun, as Mary doesn’t produce her own light, but she reflects God’s light and love. Also, my own mom is most definitely not God, and I don’t worship her, but I respect her and ask her for help a lot and she wants to point me to God. It’s the same with Mary as our spiritual mother. Mary’s not the one with the power, as she was not the one who changed the water into wine, but she took it to her Son so He could do that.
Mary represent all of humanity, reaching out for Jesus to help. Knowing that a human woman is interacting with Jesus and he listens and reacts, let's us know God is approachable, for any issue. So YES, "knowing" Mary does help illuminate the Gospel for many.
One mary yet many apostles and teachers yet mary who shared no Gospel in scripture is elevated? She is blessed but trying to make it stick doesn't work. Who is my mother and brothers, blessed rather are those who do the will of My Father... Interesting how every time she is pointed to, Jesus redirects from her onto His followers so point one another to Jesus and pray for one another.
@@Xerxes2005 What I am implying is that the religious practices surrounding Mary are incorrect and even worse may fall into both idol worship and attempting communication with humans who have already passed from this life. It's not even implied by Jesus and the apostles never expressed this belief in their writings. The stories of apparitions bare similarities to ufo encounters and ufo encounters often present demonic deceptions usually aimed right at Jesus.
I respect Abraham, I respect Elijah, I respect Moses, as the same way... I respect Virgin Mary, I respect all apostles who brought gospel through The Lord Holy Spirit in all the earth, just because of this... today I have Bible in my hand, today I know my JESUS more closer to me by His Spirit. I can know Him in every book of Bible from genesis to revelation and it's all by His grace and Love.. I respect all those who serve God truly, who are faithful to God and Love GOD with all of their heart. Here, what I believe, 'Jesus is the only way, the truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Him.' Every knee will bow and confess that Jesus is Lord. He is king of kings and Lord of Lords. We are waiting for His second coming. No one can compare with the Lord. Who can understand Him?? He is beyond our understanding. He is eternal. He is The Creator of all things. Through Him all things are made. great conversation. As soon as you asked it and Father Guffey said "great question" I loved that. Something about these conversations being had, and talked about openly, and without shame makes me very happy. A Catholic and an Evangelical have often throughout history, not been able to sit at the same table without arguing. Thank you. God bless
“Anyone who has the opportunity to look closely at the icons of the Eastern Church which depict the Mother of God will notice something very striking. In the expressions on the faces of Mary and of her divine Son, in the gestures that are so subtly depicted, there is a moving quality that is hard to define. The Christians of Russia had a name for this quality: they called it “umileniye,” a word which can be translated “tender, loving kindness.”
As a devout Catholic, I absolutely love how Our Blessed Mother is portrayed 🌹🙏. Really well done and theologically correct and I appreciate that .Praise God for this labor of Love that brings Honor and Blessing to HIM ❤️
@@danakarloz5845 Told me, no, I was raised Catholic. We prayed to Mary, we request things of Mary. I went again as an adult 20 years later recently, same thing. There's even a picture of Mary over the tabernacle, and they wanted us to pray to her. As a child, I asked our priest if we should read The Bible, and he said you can't but you don't have to. Also, this current Pope has been quoted as saying, "we're all children of God", which is also NOT in The Bible. Some people are simply Children of the World, and have hardened hearts.
Basically, now that I've read The Bible, so many things I was told as a Catholic are fully against what The Bible says. The King James version is the worst translation. Not at all what the Hebrew says, now that I can read Hebrew. The Catholic church is for God's plan of harboring the false prophet. That's its role in God's plan. For even the fallen angels ultimately carry out His plan.
This video makes me so happy. A Protestant and Catholic talking about Mary without it devolving into a fight. If only we could have this type of respectful dialogue more often.
Honestly There are people cussing and saying i don't want to understand, almost like they just want catholics worshipping Mary to be true to feel better, saying we're making her share the head of the church. I'm honestly just tired of having conversations with people that choose to be ignorant and rude
This project is being made by all of us. It's lovely see catholics, greek ortodox, protestants, evangelicals, and also those who doubt, who dont believe. There's something strong alive, makes me smile how that this video show that we love Jesus. And He is providing this kind of encounter.
Honestly the position you just took is called ecumenism and it’s not supported by the Bible whatsoever. It’s considered unfaithful for a true Christian not to challenge a Pagan with the errors of their religion and Catholics are 100% Pagan and 0% Christian. That’s the correct position to take in these matters whether it’s politically correct or not. Christian Extremism is considered a necessity in true Christianity and it is exactly why we are mostly killed in the final days for not backing down and making compromises. Food for thought, Jesus doesn’t make compromises and neither should we, GOD bless 🙏🏼
I'm Catholic, and am VERY thankful to Dallas Jenkins for The Chosen! He handles relationships well, and particularly the relationship of Mary to her Son. The whole show is amazing, and helps illuminate my reading of Scripture.
A wise non-denominational pastor of mine was led to write in a book about Jesus, how while many in Christendom have bordered on idolizing Mary as some sort of goddess, the rest of us have not given her the respect and honor she deserves.. She was human.. yet a human who chose to obey the Holy Spirit and become His Hand Maiden, to where she was chosen by the Father to be His Son's mother on earth. She had a very high calling and she embraced it.. And even as a non-denominational Christian, I can see how she had great humility that only the Holy Spirit could give.. even in that scene where she told the servants, "do whatever He tells you" gives us a glimpse of her humble nature.. God bless Mary! I pray that I will be as obedient to the Holy Spirit at my old age of 56 as she was at such a young age of 16. p.s.. I can't wait to get this movie .. I know I will love it!
GodsWork InProgress Your comment is the first, so far, that I have read to seem have put things in RIGHT PERSPECTIVE. What an honored position...to be chosen to be the mother of the promised MESSIAH. I think there was a brother in Christ who also write about how we, as christians, do not understand Mary’s heart in all this ( the late Pastor JV McGee ). I think Pastor Jack Hibbs ( CC-Chino Hills, CA) also spoke on Mary. I do not think that we disrespect her, but, I think we just do not focus on her as the RCC does...Even to the point that they refer to her as the “queen of heaven”. They should read Jeremiah 7 & 44. That kind of worship is an ABOMINATION to GOD. Romans 1 starting w/the 18 verse + also speak of ppl who are so blinded by falsehood that GOD gives them over to their own way of thinking which BECOMES more debase as time goes by...to the point of making their worship on “creeping things”. I am not here to catholic bashing but I so think their system is WRONG!!!!
@@JESUSISLORDFOREVERMORE888 There's actually a Biblical reason she has that title...if you'd be interested in hearing it. We call her "The Queen of Heaven" because the custom of the kings of Israel was to appoint their mothers as queen rather than their wives. King Solomon, for example, had a few hundred wives, but only one mother. (You can see this concept Queen Mother mentioned in the Bible in Jeremiah 13:18). And people would come to the Queen mother asking for her intercession with the king (1 Kings 2: 12-21 -- someone comes to Queen Bathsheba asking for a favor, and when she goes to Solomon with it, she is received with honor by the king and he listens respectfully to her request. Said favor doesn't pan out for the guy who asked it (he actually gets executed), but it shows that this was an established custom in Israel's royal court). Jesus is the Son of David, and the King of Heaven. Since He's a king in the Davidic line...that makes Mary the Queen Mother, and Queen of Heaven. It's important to note it's an honorary title, NOT one that comes with it's own power ("My soul proclaims the greatness of the LORD, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior" -Luke 1:46-47. She exists for God's glory, never her own). She is still completely subject to the King, and we would NEVER worship her. But based on that ancient understanding of how kingship and queenship work (as well as a few other verses/reasons...but this comment is long enough as it is), we believe that yes, Jesus listens to her intercession (though it's totally up to Him whether to grant it). And you can see that play out at the Wedding Feast at Cana. There's obviously a TON more to Marian theology, but I hope that clears up why she has that particular title a little more. I've been Catholic my whole life, but I can understand how idolatrous this stuff can sound out of context.
OHHHHH ME TOO!!!!!! I cried like a baby with big sobs then when I first saw the scene, and until now each time I watch it and when it is spoken about …… 💙💙💙
I'm Eastern Orthodox and we venerate saint Mary as the Theotokos (Mother of God) and even though this show is made by an Evangelist, he portrayed saint Mary almost perfectly. What I miss in this conversation with these Catholic priest, is the fact that Jesus did His first public miracle at the request of saint Mary (even after He says, it isn't His time). This is the reason we also pray, please note, praying is not the same as worshipping, we pray to her for her prayers because she of all creation is the closest to her Son and enjoys a exalted status. But one thing is sure, we must do whatever He says, like saint Mary says.
This show is so amazing. Like the Gospel itself there is something new to discover with each watching. The attention to detail is 100% guided by the Holy Spirit.
I loved this interview ! Just one thing...This priest puzzled me when he said of Mary and Catholics that “piety got out of control”. He seems almost timid and apologetic about the Catholic Church’s high respect for Our Lady as expressed by practicing Catholics . As a Catholic with many wonderful Protestant friends, I constantly feel this timidity about my faith when it comes to things like that and I really shouldn’t. That is on me. We should not reactively shy away from what is a genuine misunderstanding of Mary and an aversion to her that comes from the misguided notion that Catholics worship her. We should not be in a hurry to pretend she is a small deal to prove we don’t worship her. I don’t worship my own birth mother but I certainly honor her and respect her. I express it too. Jesus loved his mother ! We should too. And she WAS special.Chosen by God the Father to serve a special mission and endowed with special graces. Mary IS a big deal. It does not mean she is equal to Jesus. She never could be and she herself says this. She leads us TO him. So did the apostles. So did Mary Magdalene. The piety and love Catholics have for Mary is not in competition with the WORSHIP, love and adoration we have for our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ . I grew up loving Mary and will raise my children to as well. After falling away from my faith after college- she and only she brought me back to Jesus .She is everybody’s mother. Jesus gave her to us from the cross. And I LOVE this show. I’ve donated money to pay it forward and I am spreading the word . What a blessing to have such an amazing show. It’s going to bring Christians of all denominations together. GodBless
Agree, I noticed that too. I was protestant and became Catholic two years ago, the Church always was correct in their official teaching about Mary, now, popular piety without formation could have taken Mary out of context, but this was always condemned by the Church. It bothers me when I see timid and apologetic Catholics, there is no need for that.
On note of please don't get offended..just quoting few things..and ofcourse you are free to ignore..Also Let bible alone talk to anyone..because when we stand in the judgement day God is not going to ask which church we went to.. only thing that will matter is.."Are we saved and born again..because We need to be saved..as Per John 3: 16.. Ephesians 2:8-10 For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them. Matthew 7:21-23 “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’ 1 Timothy 2: 5 "For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.." Exodus 20:4-6 “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods. Isaiah 42:8 “I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols. Luke 1:47 - and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior(Mary was human completely like us and needed salvation like we do) Matthew 6: 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. ... In praying, don't use vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking. Regarding Praying to dead: Anyone other than Jesus Ecclesiastes 9:5-6 For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten. Their love and their hate and their envy have already perished, and forever they have no more share in all that is done under the sun. John 14:6 (Jesus Alone is intercessor) Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. Hebrews 9:27 (if only all saints and mary where not human) And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment... Acts 4:12 And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
Pearl Lance ... thank you for being charitable in your question. I’ve been hounded in these comments for something I posted and I’m aghast at the way at which we were spoken to/about. Just a few points that are insufficient in explaining anything! I’d need to sit down with a coffee and talk out some of your questions! But here’s a really brief explanation: 1) We agree. It is by grace through faith and works that we are saved. 2) We agree with the bible that there is one mediator between us and God and that is Jesus Christ. Mary is an intercessor. Just as Moses was for his people, etc. They are different terms and different roles. Our temporal sins affect God eternally. Jesus is God, only God and God’s sinless perfection could atone eternally for us. But Jesus calls us to redemptively suffer for others. He includes us in His work (Col 1:24).... and this is where you, me and Mary and the saints come in. Have a look at something called “redemptive suffering” 3) Praying means asking. In old English they would use the word more widely than we do today. For example in Shakespeare you might hear “pray tell” which means please explain. I ask people to pray for me all the time. I ask people questions everyday! It’s one aspect of worship. Just like I love my mum and I love God. God is due the best of my love, but I also have love for others in my life. Prayer is an aspect of worship due to God.... we believe that right worship of God involves sacrifice and He is the only person we sacrifice to (extended convo here on the Eucharist). 4) Necromancy is different from praying to saints. There’s whole videos on this if you just do a YT search of “Catholic Answers praying to the dead”... you should find a more extensive explanation. As Catholics we believe that we are all united in the body of Christ. The bible says that death does not separate us from the body. We see the saints in heaven taking prayers to God. The prayers of the righteous are powerful. Worth a little research because if I’m right, you’re missing out on so much support from heaven! 5) Yes, the commandment says we must not be idolatrous and must not worship graven images. God also commands Moses to make two angel statues on the Ark of the Covenant a couple of chapters later. Why is that? If a statue of Mary or Jesus is sinful then so is The Chosen because it is a graven image! So there’s more to this story than meets the eye!
Pearl Lance .... And finally, just something to ponder. Luther, Calvin and Zwingli all believed in the perpetual virginity of Mary. They all believed in the Eucharist (ie the real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist)... they just disagreed on how the Eucharist became the Eucharist. Anyway, thank you again. You’re beautiful. If you want to know why it is we believe these things and for 2000 years most of the world has, just do a little YT search on Catholic Answers. All of them are ex-Protestant pastors and ministers. There’s also The Coming Home Network on YT... where you can hear testimonies of hundreds of protestant pastors and ministers who converted to Catholicism. Each testimony is about an hour long. So you can really delve into their logic. They all held similar objections to you. God bless you abundantly. Thank you again for your charity and patience.
I enjoyed the reality of Mary searching for Jesus and the interactions of Her and Jesus at the wedding. Mary is a person we try to imitate by meditating on the way she lived for, loved, and followed Jesus. That is what the rosary is - we meditate on the events of the Life of Christ. When we watch a video like this we feel closer to the Lord because it stirs up in us the truth of the Gospels.... the same is what we do as Catholics (though many Protestants also) when we pray the rosary - only usually it is not with the aid of a video but in our imagination or meditation - we go through all the Gospels of His life, death and resurrection.

How about imitating Jesus? Why would I imitate Mary? Did u priests told u that? She was a sinner. Imitate Jesus.
@ Mary immitates Jesus and Leads us by Her love of God to Jesus in all that she does. If I imitate someone who imitates the Lord by their example in life, then I am imitating the Lord.
As a mother and grandmother, when I saw that scene when Mary frantically looked for her son, I felt that she was feeling not only frightened but also feeling she did not fulfill her obligation to protect Jesus because of his purpose here in this life.
Mary our Mother. You captured it so incredibly.. you just put the whole relationship between Jesus, the God Man and Mother Mary in The human perspective. Thank you ever so much!

@@maryfuentes9277 If it were true, that only Jesus can intercede for us, no one should pray for another person, which is obviously nonsense. Btw, also the saints in heaven intercede for us - read Revelation 6:9-11: "When he opened the fifth seal, I saw under the altar the souls of those who had been slain because of the word of God and the testimony they had maintained. 10 They called out in a loud voice, “How long, Sovereign Lord, holy and true, until you judge the inhabitants of the earth and avenge our blood?” 11 Then each of them was given a white robe, and they were told to wait a little longer, until the full number of their fellow servants, their brothers and sisters,[e] were killed just as they had been."
One of my favorite things about this whole project is that conversations like THIS are happening
Same! I love that Dallas is consulting these guys! Even the Jewish Rabbi, who is not in this video.
Yea that's so true 👍
Yeah, let’s have a “conversation” about:
-Infant baptism
-Purgatory
-Confession to priests
-Praying to (worshipping) Mary
-Praying to so-called saints
-Dead relatives becoming guardian angels
-Priestly celibacy
-Putting “traditions” of the church above clear scripture
-Replacing Christ as head of the church with a pope
-Mary as “sinless” (aka, the “immaculate conception”)
-Catholics (the pope) magically turning 2 sacraments into 7.
-absolute HERETICAL view that the priest turns a wafer and wine into Christ’s body and blood.
-Equally heretical, that consuming this wafer and wine is saving you.
Etc, etc etc etc....
ANY church filled with this much blasphemy, heresy, and idolatry has NO PLACE at any table TO START ANY “CONVERSATION.”
They and their sad victims should repent and abandon the false teachings and follow the clear teachings of the Bible, not your priest. Seriously, open the Bible. The true Holy Spirit will lead you into all truth.
@@MrPlaneTalk Perhaps you should read about the early Church and the early Church fathers’ writings. You may reconsider what you call heresy.
The Bible repeatedly says, "Mary pondered these things in her heart."
She didn't know the answers, but the trusted and spent a great deal of time thinking about the mysteries unfolding around and through her.

Exactly.
This is Luke writing as a doctor. Luke interviewed our Lady and shows that he even analyzed her emotionally, and even as doctor gives us clues of Jesus being TALLER than average. many things and clues reading Luke's writings!!!

I come from the other end of the Christian spectrum and could not agree more. That Christians no matter what their backgrounds (except for a few) embrace this means it must be special.

This show is truly Christian it reunites the faith in discussion instead of arguments
It’s not perfect. But it is BY FAR the best representation of the life of Jesus in film. Mary doesn’t completely suit me. But that is nitpicking.
You sir are, how shall I say it kindly, deviating from the truth.
Actually most Catholics believe that, they believe she is the queen of heaven
They pray to Mary like she were Jesus, like Mary is the way to God when she's not, biblically speaking.

You are creating an image of the Messiah based on a hollywood actor. Idolatry is a sin.
Nobody's idolizing this man who portrays Jesus. There is way too much nit picking here and legalism. This is the most realistic portrayal of the people of the bible I have ever seen.
You’re praying to someone who can’t answer you... and you’ve replaced God with an idol. Sorry.
June Gerber this is the creed - The Apostles Creed - what Catholics believe and profess:
I believe in God,
the Father Almighty,
Creator of heaven and earth,
and in Jesus Christ, His only Son, our Lord,
who was conceived by the Holy Spirit,
born of the Virgin Mary,
suffered under Pontius Pilate,
was crucified, died and was buried;
He descended into hell;
on the third day He rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven,
and is seated at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
from there He will come to judge the living and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Spirit,
the Holy Catholic Church,
the communion of Saints,
the forgiveness of sins,
the resurrection of the body,
and life everlasting.
Even her maternal relationship would have done Mary no good unless she had borne Christ more happily in her heart than in her flesh."

Just a little note because I think it’s important to mention... At the Wedding Feast at Cana Jesus says to Mary (in the original Greek) “Woman, what to me to thee? My hour has not yet come”. (It is a particular idiomatic expression)
1) Jesus calls Mary “Woman” because Mary is the New Eve.

It’s very easy to just say “you’re wrong” and not qualify it. You’ve made a very serious accusation of heresy. You’ve also made the logical fallacy of presumption.
For her sins have reached to heaven, and God has remembered her iniquities.”
Revelation 18:4-5 NKJV
Read the entire bible.
@@truthseeker8249 this comment needs to have more likes !!!
God Bless!

It’s refreshing to see a non-Catholic Christian be so respectful about our devotion to Mary. Mary is not Jesus and we do not worship her. But she was chosen by God to bring our Savior into the world. We believe Jesus died and rose from the dead to save us but this life itself is a test and one can fall off the road of salvation at any moment. Just look at Judas as an example of this. Totally blown away by Dallas' humility towards Catholics. THANK YOU!
(See Christian history for how the church can be terribly self-destructive.)
So let's pray for everyone involved in this project, that they would develop it in the most beneficial way.
17 For in the gospel the righteousness of God is revealed--a righteousness that is by faith from first to last,fn just as it is written: “The righteous will live by faith.”fn
18 The wrath of God is being revealed from heaven against all the godlessness and wickedness of people, who suppress the truth by their wickedness,
19 since what may be known about God is plain to them, because God has made it plain to them.
22 Although they claimed to be wise, they became fools
23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images made to look like a mortal human being and birds and animals and reptiles.
They are gossips,
30 slanderers, God-haters, insolent, arrogant and boastful; they invent ways of doing evil; they disobey their parents;
31 they have no understanding, no fidelity, no love, no mercy.
32 Although they know God’s righteous decree that those who do such things deserve death, they not only continue to do these very things but also approve of those who practice them. Romans 1:5-32
Appreciate that, Paul! We're all in this together.

The religious are the most difficult to save.
This is why the remnant church is and always has been very small.
John 3:3
Jesus said, "You must be born again."
And this is why there is only a small remnant of believers because to regenerate we must worship in Spirit and in Truth.

To refer to Mary as virgini and mother is to point out the central teaching of the Church, that Jesus is God incarnate. The word made flesh and dwelling among us.
As an Orthodox Christian (who was formerly Evangelical), I love the authenticity with which these - and really all - of the scenes your team does. The honesty and integrity behind the script and where it takes you have created such a powerful medium that it really moves people. These events were REAL - and they happened to REAL PEOPLE. You all manage to "flesh things out" so beautifully that we, as an audience, get to really feel we are that "fly on the wall," seeing the Lord's interactions with His beloved people. This is so POWERFUL - thank you!!

Orthodox Christianity is unbiblical and believes in unsound doctrine. Please go back to God's WORD. Alone.
Welcome to the Church of Christ and the Apostles.. I am Orthodox also from Jordan. We are quite literally the first Christians in the world and we are all originally Orthodox ...so yes... with all respect to other traditions but you indeed have come home to the "first church" .....I find it funny though when others talk about Orthodoxy as unbiblical when it is us (by God's grace) who gave them the bible lol

Are you saying that they worshipped the Ark and the Temple as well? You are the one who has the Catholic doctrine completely wrong that it is indeed startling.
Mr. Jenkins, Our Most Blessed Lord and Our Holy Mother are certainly guiding your work!
The scene of wedding in Cana it's really amazing and beautiful, the way Mary concern and saved that family from embarrassment, the way she approach Jesus and the most touching for me is when Jesus look at her with the emotions in his face, it's very clear that Mary always want to bring us closer to Jesus and save us from the embarrassment ❤😇

Dallas should be going on God's Word ALONE.
Dallas Jenkins
I am defending God's Word above the series and against the "round table" discussion which you chose to do with a Catholic priest. Roman Catholicism is not of the God of the Bible. It is a heretical religion whose doctrine is unbiblical. It is a works based salvation.
"We are saved by grace through faith in Saviour Lord Jesus Christ; lest no man boast." Ephesians 2: 8-9
New Believers in Christ may become confused and think: Catholicism is of the Judeo-Christian origin, which it is not. Catholicism preaches a different gospel. They know a different Jesus.
Jesus said: "Many will come in My Name, do not believe them."
"In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God and the Word was God." John 1:1 The WORD is Christ. No compromise. None.
Compromise comes in ALL forms.
"And no wonder, even Satan comes disguised as an angel of light."
2 Corinthians 11:14
@@gracefaithsaved Can you quote the parts of the Catechism that shows a different gospel? If you are going to be critical, consider if you know from the source what it actually teaches. Dallas is merely being fair in hearing what the Catholic Church teaches. As for the Bible, the Catholic Church gave you the Bible in canonized form. I learned that first in a Protestant institution before I was led by the Lord to the Catholic Church. Try around paragraph 1980 on what the CC actually teaches on salvation.

I am not religious.
I follow Jesus.
I read His Word.
And His Word Alone.
Catholicism is a work based salvation doctrine.
It is a different gospel.
Stop trying to sell your false heretical doctrine. I will not quote the catechism because it is heresy.
But I will quote Ephesians 2:8-9
"We are saved by GRACE through FAITH in Christ; lest no man should boast."
I have many religious lost in my life.
I pray for them.
They are spiritually bankrupt because of heretical doctrine. Catholicism is a

Yah’ Ren Mary is sinless???? There is NO ONE good but God.
As a Catholic I really loved the scene where Jesus and Mary cross sight after the miracle.... Was beautiful. Thank you
I love how every detail is given such special attention - not wanting to deviate from the scriptures and yet keeping the story fresh and realistic... taking care to be in correct standing with the Catholic church and other churches.
Praise God!

Thank you for rekindling my faith through The Chosen.
Amazing. I love the character of all women in the show. They are king, generous, and have compassion for others. They touch my heart
I am Catholic. We have watched the series twice. Once with our kids. It is stunningly done.

The most important woman in the bible is Eve. Without her none of us would be here. Unless God would have spawned us from nothing, but Eve deserves more respect. And even then, Mary was just a human, not a deity.
My favorite episode!!! The look Mary gives Jesus when she says “please,” is what I picture when I ask her to intercede for me. ❤️
UA-cam Viewer Thanks, that’s probably the best way someone has explained it to me. Is that also why y’all pray to different saints?
So Mary is praying “Hail Mary full of grace?”

If Mary is good enough for Jesus, she’s good enough for me 💖

A very beautiful presentation of Mama Mary's intercession. Thank you so much for this!🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️
The level of humility they have for each other throughout the conversation is amazing.
No, knowing mary better won't help. The Father sent Jesus, get to know Him better. Does the scripture say if mary knocks at the door?
@@Captain_Of_A_Starship Are you implying Mary was not a follower of Christ? She was His very first follower!
No one comes to the Father except through Him.'
Every knee will bow and confess that Jesus is Lord. He is king of kings and Lord of Lords. We are waiting for His second coming.
No one can compare with the Lord. Who can understand Him?? He is beyond our understanding. He is eternal. He is The Creator of all things. Through Him all things are made.

“Anyone who has the opportunity to look closely at the icons of the Eastern Church which depict the Mother of God will notice something very striking. In the expressions on the faces of Mary and of her divine Son, in the gestures that are so subtly depicted, there is a moving quality that is hard to define. There’s so many people who don’t feel the way that we as Catholics do about Mother Mary. She always points the way to Christ Jesus.
she's the personification of the ark of the covenant.
Mary, yes, points to Jesus. Catholics wrongly worship Mary. Mary is free of this guilt, Catholics are not. It's not the way.
ghostheory which Catholic person told you that Catholics worship Mary?
Honestly
There are people cussing and saying i don't want to understand, almost like they just want catholics worshipping Mary to be true to feel better, saying we're making her share the head of the church.

Queen of my heart! I know how much her Son Jesus loves her, and that made me love her too💕✝️💕
Its already out... download The Chosen app in the app store and watch season 1
^^^^ THIS
It was very accurately portrayed, I felt. When she said 'Please', I just teared up.
Ephesians 2:8-10
For by grace you have been saved through faith. And this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God, not a result of works, so that no one may boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
Matthew 7:21-23
“Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. On that day many will say to me, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and cast out demons in your name, and do many mighty works in your name?’ And then will I declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from me, you workers of lawlessness.’
1 Timothy 2: 5 "For there is one God and one mediator between God and mankind, the man Christ Jesus.."
Exodus 20:4-6 “You must not make for yourself an idol of any kind or an image of anything in the heavens or on the earth or in the sea. You must not bow down to them or worship them, for I, the Lord your God, am a jealous God who will not tolerate your affection for any other gods.
Isaiah 42:8 “I am the LORD; that is my name! I will not give my glory to anyone else, nor share my praise with carved idols.
Luke 1:47 - and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior(Mary was human completely like us and needed salvation like we do)
Matthew 6: 7 But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. ... In praying, don't use vain repetitions, as the Gentiles do; for they think that they will be heard for their much speaking.
Regarding Praying to dead: Anyone other than Jesus
Ecclesiastes 9:5-6
For the living know that they will die, but the dead know nothing, and they have no more reward, for the memory of them is forgotten. Their love and their hate and their envy have already perished, and forever they have no more share in all that is done under the sun.
John 14:6 (Jesus Alone is intercessor)
Jesus said to him, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Hebrews 9:27 (if only all saints and mary where not human)
And just as it is appointed for man to die once, and after that comes judgment...
Acts 4:12
And there is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by which we must be saved.”
@@pearllance2939 Tell me where in the Bible say "Bible or Scriptura alone" or "by faith alone"?
Pearl Lance ... thank you for being charitable in your question. I’ve been hounded in these comments for something I posted and I’m aghast at the way at which we were spoken to/about.
Just a few points that are insufficient in explaining anything! I’d need to sit down with a coffee and talk out some of your questions! But here’s a really brief explanation:
1) We agree.
Have a look at something called “redemptive suffering”
3) Praying means asking.
Hi all. As a Catholic Charismatic myself and I think I speak for most Catholics when I say that when we pray to Mary we pray to her to intercede on our behalf to her son Jesus after all what good Son would refuse his Mother anything that she would ask for And you My friends portrayed Mary beautifully when Jesus granted Mary her request at the wedding Just watching each and every episode I felt drawn into your family filled with love for each other You are all so filled with the Holy Spirit I Love you guys. I'm here in Johannesburg S A giving you a gentle push for season 2 can you feel it
Only Jesús can intercede between God and you
1Tim 2:5: "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus;"
Why ask Mary to pass your message if you can ask directly Jesus and have a beautiful relationship with Him :) When I was Catholic I definitely spent too much time talking to Mary instead of my Father. Once I changed it, the Holy Spirit filled my life like never before.
God bless
@@paula280690 Why ask Mary? Read in the Bible why ask Mary.. If you still cannot find then come back and listen to what others in the same boat as you, found in the Bible.. I cannot insert a UA-cam link here, my comment is withheld if I do.
Search for this video "From Wall Street to Rome, the Conversion of Carolyn King - 4/3/14" to know HOW the Bible came into existence and other divine truths. Listen to the testimony of this Lutheran Christian and know for yourself who Mary is to Jesus and what the truth is. God does NOT talk two different things to two different people. His Word remains the same for eternity. It is the men, led by the devil, who twist the words of scripture to suit their evil ways.
