  • I finally work out why my tank liner wouldn't dry, and then move onto understanding my bike was ticking over on just one cylinder.

Ah yes! the old invisible speck in the carb Problem! Even when you've cleaned them out multiple times, it only takes the smallest foriegn object to stop your project dead!....
The joys of having a carbureted project bike!...

Glad you got the tank sorted. Bear in mind, when making carb adjustments using an external fuel tank, it's best to hang it where the fuel level is close to where it would be in normal running. Too great a difference in height will change the pressure as it reaches the carb, which could affect running, particularly at idle.

Thanks Rick, good point on the height. I will bare that in mind for the future.

To set up the floats so you are 100 percent sure of the actual level of petrol run two lengths of clear pipe from the float bowl drains to a level above the top of the carbs.
Turn the petrol supply on and open the float bowl screws so you can see the actual level of fuel in each bowl in the pipes.

    Nice work.
Might be worth switching the two gauges over on the carbs while balancing just to see if reading is the same as they aren't always that accurate in calibration to each other.
    Kind regards. 👍

Hi Leslie, sorry but I bought that about 2 years ago, so dont have an item number, but ebay search for USB Endoscope should find results. I think it cost me less than £10.
