Good video. 4 things: 1. You don't have to have previously finished the game to fight him, just 99% will do. 2. You can defend against his stopwatch move by having the directional shield out before it starts (you can easily tell since the attack animation is longer than any other). 3. It's extremely easy to kill him by just spamming attacks with a greatsword (given you maximize damage on your setup). 4. He's weak against light.
I went into this fight with almost 400 attack. I was hitting for like 200+ a hit lol. I used the Gram line of weapons for a good majority of the game. Durandal is pretty damn strong.
O.D. is a both a reference to castlevania and Jojo. Alucard spells Dracula backwards. And in this game O.D. spells D.O. backwards or otherwise pronounced as "Dio" another time manipulating vampire.
It makes sense this particular stop watch ability references The World from JoJo. Japan loves three things. Kaiju Fights(of any kind) Dragon Ball and JoJo not in any particular order lol. Though able to take any book after his boss fight is a nice reward
Use the Directed Shield when you see the motion he is going to do time stop. There is a moment he cover himself with cape, and that's the pre-move motion.
you can avoid the ice spikes during timestop with dimension slip, either teleport away to the spikes or time it when you disappear as the spikes passes
Level up your dimensional transport shard which gives you increasingly longer invulnerability upon teleporting. If you are on the ground when he freezes time, you can aim it and fire it off when it expires and avoid all damage.
Pizza...pizza is the key. Gives a great deal of healing. Either craft or buy every chance you get. They're like high potions but you can literally carry 99 of them but warning they are expensive to craft
There's actually a tell when he's gonna do the Time Stopper attack. There's a particular pose he does each time he'll do it. It's hard to see at first but once you know it you can always run to the corner and duck before he does it.
Was going to say that you don't need to beat the final boss to fight OD; just having 99% map completion & having the book of conquest equipped is enough; but enough beat me to it. So instead I'll say this, if you're still having trouble with OD - Rava Velar is broken af. Turns any enemy (bosses included) into a cakewalk.
Bruh, I've been commenting that the rhava velar is insane and highly recommended. Just because it's attack base is low doesn't mean it's horrible; it definitely makes up for it in it's god damn attack speed.
Late reply, but totally doesn't work on hard and nightmare difficulty. He just OHKs you with point blank homing ice-shards (more than enough damage, since he launches 8 and each shard does around 300 damage).
No worries & yeah, hard and nightmare difficulties require more investment; making a point of perma-buffing your stats with eating all foods at least once, and maxing out your yellow shards is enough to make it still hold in hard mode But nightmare... oof... nightmare you need a lot of practice & skill to get through
@@nagatsuseiken7731 Nightmare is mostly tedious, since you don't level up. Gotta have pretty fast reactions and be able to recognize EVERY attack and know the response to it. The bragging rights are just not worth it. Hard difficulty is interesting, but Nightmare... for some, perhaps.
I didn't have to beat the game to fight him, got unlocked after I beat Gremory, found the save point before dominique, went back to unlock as much of the map as aI could now that I had as many abilities as I could get, went back to see if he had any new books befor the final boss. He actually blinsided me, took me half an hour to get all the money to buy potions to fight the final boss, but used them all up on him and had to restock up on items again. But definetly fought him before I beat the game. I love how the capes star field is a refernce to the many capes Alucard wears in SotN. Lastly this game takes place in 18 century england, in the same century, Harmony od DIssonance, Rondo of Blood, and SotN, so to I like to think after the destruction of the Hellhound, O.D. fled to Transylvania, found refuge in Dracula's Castle, his appearance withered because the Hellhound was his main source of power and was only known as the Master Librarian for the rest of his existence,
Fun fact You can dimension shift on time stop to avoid the ice spikes and a well timed dimension shift evades all the spikes. Why you ask? Well you see, with dimension shift Miriam is capable of moving on an artificial time that she made, make her move, then delete the time and leave only the result of the actions she made during that artificial time and with the enemy not knowing where or what she did during that time. Yes, this is a reference. The dimension shift evade is true tho.
Use invert and stay in the corner. Attack OD when he is above you with a greatsword. Directional Shield will be your BEST FRIEND in this fight but make sure it is MAXED before you fight OD. Use it whenever he uses fire, jumps at you with his sword or uses his bat attack. Done.
If anyone is still playing this, You can fight OD on your first playthrough! You don’t have to beat the game first. Because it’s not the last boss you have to beat. It’s Gremory the boss in glacial tomb is who you have to beat. Everything else he mentioned is correct in fighting him.
for the fight your directional shard, a better choice would be either the shield (it can also block the flame waves from the 8-bit overlord) or the 8-bit fireball (at rank 9 it's like true arrow but stronger unless fire resistance). also a quick use of bloodless's shard for some quick healing (sucking blood from a bloodsucker)
We can def the time stop with directed shield it will guard it and with rhava vular and welcome company you can just stay in front and just hit better duck and attack too
You can dodge the blades by using the shard you get from beating Gremory. Aim for the top of the screen while you're frozen, and activate when "The World"'s effect ends.
I honestly never utilized Invert or Shift as much as I should have. It trivializes a lot of stuff. The gambler boss is incredibly easy as an inverted bunny.
Thanks for this guide. I found Tome of Conquest before completing the game. I have 99%+ map discovered. Perhaps this is the only requirement? Actually, I still couldn't beat the last boss lololol so just grinding around and speed running for fun :) HAHAHA now I can have all books before I beat the final boss!!! NICE!
For stopwatch, I'd say there's 1 more thing you can do. Not a solution but better than nothing: Make a shortcut equipment set, in that set, stack all your defensive items and shards. So, when he uses tip watch, switch to that set.
You can stop the time stop actually if you have the red shield grind shard. You will actually have enough time to bring out the shield after the time stop is over to block everything 100% of the time.
For those who dont know, if you invert below him and jump "up" the gap beneath OD you'll startle him. A chest with those nose goggles then appears and you earn a trophy.
You know all those "READ" posters they had in the school library with someone like Kobe Bryant or Magic Johnson holding a book and smiling at the camera? Someone needs to make one of those with O.D.
It's possible to cheese him hard with Buer familiar and Welcome Company. He stops for a few frames each time he gets hit so rapid hits will slow him down and let you get free hits.
Get the directional shard from those sheild guys to block his projectiles as soon as his time stop drops or abuse invulnerability from double jump/invert, you can charge at his grab when it first starts to 'dodge' it by taking contact damage and going through him if its too close, and he is weak to light so id recommend using Gae Assail (pretty easy to craft) with the spear expertise shard i also use the shadow tracer shard on all bosses for more damage (at rank 9 you have 4 shadows, easily adds 80-240 per hit depending on the enemy for very little mana but you gotta get used to postioning them)
I also suggest getting rhava bural (four of them are needed to craft the weapon I used) and make sure that you have everything you need to craft rhava velar. I literally just got done with fighting OD and I shredded his health. Granted, I brought a lot of ex potions (you can only bring three, and I used all three of them) and other potions (I didn't even use any of my other potions honestly) but with the attack speed of the rhava velar, you will definitely shred through his health in no time. It's base attack isn't really that good, but it's attack speed is insane. Arguably the best weapon in the game.
You can completely block the time stop attack with the shield shard. Makes that attack a complete joke. You just have to have it going before he stops time. He telegraphs the attack in advance so it’s not that hard to do. 💪
Possibly one of the hardest fights on hard difficulty. Forget about the Standstill, the homing ice shard attack and the bite are far worse. The bites take just a little less than 2 HP bars off in total and you don't always see the grab coming. The ice shards do 300ish damage each, and he launches enough to OHK you. If he does so point-blank, it's game over. Not to mention that he uses his sword as the Ruinous Rood Shard as well. And he's immune to poisoning. Still not as frustrating as Alfred, at least that's something.
I’m sorry, but is OD wearing phone glasses shaped like Waluigi?

please help me. How do I escape from the final boss's room? Because I can't leave unless the game is over and I want to keep that part of the map uncovered, I already tried to use the magic stone to transport me back to the village but it doesn't work
Thanks for this. This game is a masterpiece. I have to admit though I thought it was funny when I first saw OD, I laughed so hard knowing that it was Alucard, can't iga get sued for using so many references to castlevania but just changing the name?
I thought the wiki said at least 90% of the map completed, and you’ll find him somewhere in the ice area. 23 hours in, I’ve completed 81% of the map, many side quest, nearly have all the shards, and I’m ready to fight gibel (this time with Zangetsu’s Katana.) 2:46 Okaaaay.... I was expecting this penalty for not returning any books you have after fighting the final boss (like for example: you saved the day but oops you forgot to return the books, OD is pissed. The optional boss triggers before the credits depending on if the player remembered to return the books before fighting the final boss) but I wasn’t not expecting you basically have to rent his boss key to fight him. But your still technically in the castle right? And it’s only that specific tome (and map completion) that triggers the fight right? So by not taking that specific book, OD’s warning is completely meaningless right?
Can I fight him multiple times without having to start game over again. Just wondering want to use this own timestanding ability against him... And the fact it's a really badass boss fight.
Haven't seen anyone mention this but O.D.'s boss room is the same room where you fight Alucard's doppelganger for the second time in symphony of the night. Just a cool little Easter egg.
i dont know if its just me or this "STANDSTILL" is exactly what dante says with the quicksilver style, also the screen freeze effect is the same too....i hope its just me XD
Alternatively: make a good rapier, get as much food buffs as possible (I had all of them), and max out rank and grade for Welcome Company. Then spam attack just out of range of his sword and you'll end up staggering him so much that the only real time you have to dodge anything is if he uses ZA WARUDO. If your health is good enough, you can just facetank it and chug a pot, then continue spamming.
Please, if you can get the trophy out of all the items, could you show it, please know what is to be achieved please? if they are only weapons and equipment or it is EVERYTHING, I'm about to get the final, I'm already in the ice part but I am one of those who play and investigate EVERYTHING, I already have the map to 97 % and I'm just getting to the area of OD I still need that last piece of map, and I have the 90 % the bestiary and the fragments
@GuideRanx, speaking of bringing Healing Items, why did you never stop to think to also stock up on your Faerie Medicine, Faerie Elixir, Faerie Allheal, Food, and Healing Shard Items as well? Why I am saying this to you is for a few reasons. First of all, you literally have a Carabosse as your Familiar, and a Carabosse can not only use long range attacks, albeit not as accurately as, say, the DLC Familiar of the Archer, but the Carabosse can not only do stronger attacks than the Archer (at least from what little I have seen with the Archer in the game, anyway), but the Carabosse, despite being slower than the Archer, can also take down most weak enemies by the time that you get into the 60 to 80 Experience Level range in the game, which makes you better able to take care of healing yourself in the game. Second, the Carabosse also literally heals you by using your Healing Items. Third, not only can the Carabosse Familiar use your Potion, High Potion, and EX Potion, but you can also use those three Items to not only make, but also allow the Carabosse, to use said Potion, High Potion, and EX Potion Items, as well as to make the Faerie Medicine, the Faerie Elixir, and the Faerie Allheal Items for the Carabosse to use for your character as well in the game. Now why these things are important is that the Carabosse is essentially like the White Mage of the game, that is, the Carabosse Familiar is the Healer of your Familiars and there are some more reasons, which are that you can only get a maximum of 5 High Potions and 3 EX Potions in the game, but the Faerie Elixir and the Faerie Allheal, on the other hand, you can get up to 9 of each of those Items, and not only can you carry more of those Items, but that also gives you a better edge in the fight against O.D. in the game. Fourth, I also should add that, like in the vast majority of Castlevania games from Symphony of the Night onward, that the Food Items that you get acts a little differently than it does in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night. Now, as you know, in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night, when you eat a Prepared Food Item, you get little permanent buffs to your character, such as more HP, more MP, more INT, etc. Fifth, and I must stress this point here to you, as well as everyone else that is playing the game, what you may not be aware of is that the OTHER thing that the Food Items do in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is exactly what the Food Items do in the vast majority of the Castlevania games from Symphony of the Night onward, which is that the Food Items ALSO restore your HP and, depending on what sort of Food Item that you can get, you can get varying degrees of HP replenishment for your character...some Food Items only restore a little HP, but some of the Food Items can restore huge chunks of your HP. Sixth, since you can literally make Food Items like you can make the Shards and other Equipment Items in the game, what you make, with the exception of the Shards, can literally be bought at the Shop, and that also includes the necessary Healing and Food Items, so, as long as you have enough G in the game, you can stock up like crazy on those particular Items for your character. Seventh, and lastly, as I have previously mentioned said Shards in the last sentence, if that is not enough, there are also some Shards that can help you get permanent buffs on your HP, unlike in the Castlevania games that I had mentioned, which only give you the buffs if you are equipped with a certain kind of Armor, use a Spell, or use a Consumable Item to get your HP back to full strength, and, the higher that your EXP is in the game, as well as the more Shards that you collect, as well as the more Required Items that you can get to make those Shards gain more power, the better that things will be for you, as well as the more HP that you can get automatically replenished, in the game. I am just going to say that the old Healing Mail from those Castlevania games that I have mentioned is a LOT slower at fixing your HP level up than equipping all of the Healing Items at once, as well as going to the water sections of the Forbidden Underground Waterway to heal up your character rather quickly, in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night...theoretically, you could gain 30 HP per second in healing as opposed to the mere 1 HP per five seconds like in those Castlevania games. You all already know by now what the better system is in comparison to those two franchises, people. I hope that also helps you out, as well as others that are playing the game. (I currently have around 104 hours of playtime in the game so far, and my character is at Experience Level 69, the last time that I checked on that particular bit of information in the game.) I must also disclose that the one Food Item to NOT use in the game is the Dark Matter, as not only will it not grant you any sort of permanent buffs for your character, but that Dark Matter will actually POISON your character...it is essentially the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night equivalent of the Poison Mushroom from the Mario video game franchise, so whatever you do with Dark Matter, you can do anything but eat it in the game.
While I appreciate any video about Bloodstained, this actually gives a lot of inaccurate information. Like many others pointed out, you do not need to have beaten the final boss to fight OD so, from the get-go, most of the vid in incorrect.
I'll admit it seems pretty mean to have the option to just "kill him" and take all his books after he's done you no harm up until his optional boss fight. The things you do get for it it definitely worth it though, I just wish instead that maybe it turned out to be a misunderstanding and he just allows you to take all his books as an apology for attacking you. Ah well, hopefully he'll play a bigger part in future DLC.
A tip I have is use beast guard it can even be used while stopped so I'll pervert some damage, also blood drain is great as since he has a lot of ho so more damage u do means more heal, u can tell if it'll heal a lot if the background has a lot of blood
Is it true from the comment section especially from MSkullKid that I just get 99%, reached the final boss, use Waystone, and finally visit OD just to get the Tome of Conquest to finally fight OD in which the video prove to be wrong? If it's true, then as soon as I get those task finished as the comment section claimed, I'll deal with item & enemy completion after beating OD. The rewards you get from beating OD especially his Shard power "Standstill" and to pillage all the tomes from him not only worth the effort, but also makes grinding a bit more easier and making the final boss a complete joke.

It makes sense this particular stop watch ability references The World from JoJo. Japan loves three things. Kaiju Fights(of any kind) Dragon Ball and JoJo not in any particular order lol. Though able to take any book after his boss fight is a nice reward
Jojo (phantom blood, specificaly) and castlevania have been taking inspiration from each other since the 80s.
You can also get his glasses and an achievement if you use jump to hit his butt couple of times
No worries & yeah, hard and nightmare difficulties require more investment; making a point of perma-buffing your stats with eating all foods at least once, and maxing out your yellow shards is enough to make it still hold in hard mode
But nightmare... oof... nightmare you need a lot of practice & skill to get through
@@nagatsuseiken7731 Nightmare is mostly tedious, since you don't level up. Gotta have pretty fast reactions and be able to recognize EVERY attack and know the response to it. The bragging rights are just not worth it. Hard difficulty is interesting, but Nightmare... for some, perhaps.
few notes: The standstill doesn't work vs the carpenter...And if you use it vs secret demon n.44 aka kunekune you still could die...
Lastly this game takes place in 18 century england, in the same century, Harmony od DIssonance, Rondo of Blood, and SotN, so to I like to think after the destruction of the Hellhound, O.D. fled to Transylvania, found refuge in Dracula's Castle, his appearance withered because the Hellhound was his main source of power and was only known as the Master Librarian for the rest of his existence,
Getting O.D.'s medal was a pain in the ass but now that I've got it, I'm glad I did.
If you equip the red shield shard you can block the the ice shard when he pauses time. It makes the fight a little easier
Fun fact
You can dimension shift on time stop to avoid the ice spikes and a well timed dimension shift evades all the spikes.
Glad to hear the VA of Alucard again. i mean David Hayter is also in that game, tgat means almost all those popular VA take refuge
Damn just fought him
Spoiler
OD IS NO JOKE
he has 10000 hp(which the final boss has around 4000)and you said "he doesn't take that many hits"
You only need to beat the second to last boss and check out the book from him in order to fight him, this isn’t a patch dependency.
for the fight your directional shard, a better choice would be either the shield (it can also block the flame waves from the 8-bit overlord) or the 8-bit fireball (at rank 9 it's like true arrow but stronger unless fire resistance). also a quick use of bloodless's shard for some quick healing (sucking blood from a bloodsucker)
We can def the time stop with directed shield it will guard it and with rhava vular and welcome company you can just stay in front and just hit better duck and attack too
Wow... time-stop ability is given after beaten him. I am wondering there is another expansion or DLC map coming soon.
I have 94.20% and he had the book for me. Also, just beat him and got all his books before defeating the final boss.
I believe it's actually supposed to be at least 90% of the map completed. Don't quote me though 😂😂
If you have the anti spike armor. Otherwise...
@@ezekielbaskerville2710 unless you got rid of it, you should have it as it's one of the easiest and safest ways to get to the oriental sorcery lab.
Thanks for this guide. I found Tome of Conquest before completing the game. I have 99%+ map discovered. Perhaps this is the only requirement? Actually, I still couldn't beat the last boss lololol so just grinding around and speed running for fun :)
HAHAHA now I can have all books before I beat the final boss!!! NICE!
For stopwatch, I'd say there's 1 more thing you can do. Not a solution but better than nothing: Make a shortcut equipment set, in that set, stack all your defensive items and shards. So, when he uses tip watch, switch to that set.
i dont think tanking the damage works, considering he deals massive amounts of damage (180+), specially in higher difficulties (250+)
The tone of his voice as he "welcomes" you to pillage his shelves, carries a modicum of wrath if you listen close.
Og = original gangsta but OD = original Dracula
You do NOT need to beat the game first. You just need to have that special book checked out when you enter that area.
You can stop the time stop actually if you have the red shield grind shard. You will actually have enough time to bring out the shield after the time stop is over to block everything 100% of the time.
I accidentally ran in to OD while trying to go get orichalcum. I did not beat the game yet. I didnt even know he was a boss
For those who dont know, if you invert below him and jump "up" the gap beneath OD you'll startle him. A chest with those nose goggles then appears and you earn a trophy.
Stefan Voorhout do it again right after to get another chest with mac n cheese in it
So you don't have to beat the game. So far you just need to get tome of conquest and proceed through the glacial area.
How is it a "post game" boss if you can fight him without ever finishing the game?
You know all those "READ" posters they had in the school library with someone like Kobe Bryant or Magic Johnson holding a book and smiling at the camera? Someone needs to make one of those with O.D.
Or an anti-drug poster that says "This is how I O.D."
Something to take note of. After you beat OD you can check out all his books at once
This so FLARP it makes blarp look like onions
Stop time...check
Attacks with 'knives' in said stopped time...check
Name backwards is...yeah check
Yare yare daze. I suppose it WAS unavoidable.
u can actually get the fake glases from him by switching the gravity under him serveral times ^^
High jumping works too, just like SotN!
DIO uses 「THE WORLD」
The timestop isnt that bad when you have the shield shard. Just hold it down while he places his attack and angle it the right way.
That's a good tip i never thought of that
Silver knight will block some most of the time too.
also to help get to the corner while you're frozen i just found out you can dimension shift while frozen
They can't prove it, so... all good ;)
You can still use dimension shift to avoid the ice shards at the right time. Try to disappear in between them.
I thought the wiki said at least 90% of the map completed, and you’ll find him somewhere in the ice area.
23 hours in, I’ve completed 81% of the map, many side quest, nearly have all the shards, and I’m ready to fight gibel (this time with Zangetsu’s Katana.)
2:46 Okaaaay....
So.. O.D. was Waluigi all along?
Can I fight him multiple times without having to start game over again. Just wondering want to use this own timestanding ability against him...
And the fact it's a really badass boss fight.
ZA WARUDOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
Haven't seen anyone mention this but O.D.'s boss room is the same room where you fight Alucard's doppelganger for the second time in symphony of the night. Just a cool little Easter egg.
No, it's just a small boss room, in the ice area, what you are referring to for Doppelganger 2 is in the caverns, on the upside down castle
@@sinfulreaper5025 yes. That is what I was referring to. Its the same room.
@@sinfulreaper5025 however, it does look different. I was wrong. Just got that vibe from it I guess.
i dont know if its just me or this "STANDSTILL" is exactly what dante says with the quicksilver style, also the screen freeze effect is the same too....i hope its just me XD
I thought that too. XD
Any news on what the Celeste room is supposed to be?
As confessionary in SOTN, only aestetical
It has something to do with reviving Aeris. :P
Jokes aside, I'm pretty sure the consensus is that it doesn't do anything.
@@0Fyrebrand0 maybe a foreshadow?
I saw a guide that suggested using Invert, and fighting him from the ceiling. That worked pretty well for me.
What level should you be to take this guy on? Because i have some of the best gear and he shreds my HP.
Just stack up with Magic refillers and use beast guard.
You don't have to kill the last boss. Just 99% map and book of conquest.
(I currently have around 104 hours of playtime in the game so far, and my character is at Experience Level 69, the last time that I checked on that particular bit of information in the game.)
I must also disclose that the one Food Item to NOT use in the game is the Dark Matter, as not only will it not grant you any sort of permanent buffs for your character, but that Dark Matter will actually POISON your character...it is essentially the Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night equivalent of the Poison Mushroom from the Mario video game franchise, so whatever you do with Dark Matter, you can do anything but eat it in the game.
I fought him before the final boss, I triggered both bad endings prior though.
You don't actually need a cleared save. I fought him before fighting Gremory.
Can also get his joke glasses.
A tip I have is use beast guard it can even be used while stopped so I'll pervert some damage, also blood drain is great as since he has a lot of ho so more damage u do means more heal, u can tell if it'll heal a lot if the background has a lot of blood
Bad feels man I don't wanna break his spirit.
O.D drops that nouse of waluigi, hit him under the chair some times
