Hey Guaca, I’ve got a list of games that might not be super well-known or considered "great" by everyone, but to me, they’re actual gems. They show the kind of creativity and risk-taking that devs don’t seem to embrace anymore.
Legendary
Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard
Shadows of the Damned (It recently got a remaster and finally came to PC!)
Condemened 1&2
Kane & Lynch: Dead Men
Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom
Naughty Bear
The Darkness
Splatterhouse 2010
Dante's Inferno
Asura's Wrath
Army of Two (We need this to make a comeback! Playing online, earning money, upgrading weapons, and blinging them out was an absolute blast!)
Alone in the Dark 2008
50 Cent Blood on the Sand
Ninja Blade
Hope you get a chance to check some of them out maybe even make a video on a few! I think Eat Lead could be a fun one to try. It’s such a parody game janky and stupid in a glorious way! Also, if you’re interested, you can emulate these games using RPCS3 for PS3 titles and Xenia for Xbox 360 ones.
@@OriginalBosss thank you so much for the list!!!! There’s actually a few games on here I’m wanting to make a video on , mainly Asura’s wrath as I bought all the DLC before the Xbox store shutdown. Army of two is 100% a banger!!! Same with alone in the dark and I need to play shadow of the damned still as I am a big Suda fan! I’ll def check out these games and have a look!!! I’m currently working on my next video on Mad World aswell.
There’s something so amazing about risk taking games , especially from the 360/ps3 Gen that I love.

Good comment.
Each industry sort of has a time period like this, where odd/leftfield things are being green-lit and studios are seeing what sticks. Film had it in the 80’s and 90’s, this era where just wild stuff was being made, blockbusters too but the stuff that falls in between and b-movies were just popping off like crazy. A lot of great and weird ideas were given the money to be made and it simply wouldn’t fly today. Even the modern studios who specialize in kind of left-of-center stuff like A24, they’re not invulnerable to the mainstream and while they still produce interesting stuff, there’s real modern trash in there too.
Asura has a cult following now. I expect him to appear in the eventual Marvel v Capcom 4.
This is why my favorite era of video games is in the early to late 2000 because they tried new things and they made games for the love of making games
2 words: Mad World. Sure it wasn't a GREAT game, but it had a lot of charm for being a stupid beat em up
@russellcostain1682 it's still better than some of the games made this year (suicide squad kill the justice league and skull and bones to name a few)
Exactly this! I love this era of games that just tried to make something new!! Also speaking of mad world, im planning on making a vid on that in the near-ish future!!! also a banger game!
Facts
@@nikolairebolloso5979eh I don't know about that, this era had good ideas but they were still being the same game, over and over again, every game was being either a cod clone or something else , they had original ideas here and there though
Just bought this game on eBay last week and wondered why nobody else remembers how bad it was. Crazy finding this video
@@kiwi7090 it’s definitely a mixed bag but I think it tetters on the good side especially in terms of concept . Wish it had more polish though…
The moment you talked about the dismemberment mechanic, I suddenly remembered hearing about this game in an issue of PSN waaaaay back in the day.
This game definitely has alot of cool ideas, just not done well. The boss fight against Alex is both a great idea and hilarious.
The dismemberment mechanic is still so funny to me. He really went 💪👨. The soundtrack is so good - need more Guaca talking about Megadeth.
This, Dragon's Dogma and Asura's Wrath made me enjoy that 360 era
@@DaHecks You have amazing taste in games my friend 🤝

Friend of mine was hype AF for this back in college, utterly obsessed with it solely cause of Megadeth.... Then it came out I don't even know if he beat it cause he never brought it up again after buying it 😂
LOL, hey atleast he got the free megadeth advertisement inside the game box...
I just realised cypher is probably supposed to be a reference to sypha and bryce can be compared to trevor belmont especially with losing his eye.
I was thinking about that too!!
Of course, you talk about a game with Megadeth in it. XD
Seriously though, I remember reading about this in an old Game Informer magazine. Never played it myself though.
Another great video, as always! You did a great job covering everything! Proud of you, brother! ❤
@@RightJackAtYa thanks my man!!!!
@@GuacaTypeBeat Of course! Keep up the good work!
Wowie, NeverDead video in 2024? Unexpected, I assumed nobody remembers that game, yet it was so weirdly entertaining it never left my memory.
Even in the corniest games around Liam O'Brien goes above and beyond
@@Scatteredpast Liam O’Brien and David Lodge were both great imo!!
the absolute shock on my face once i saw dave mustaine
i did not expect that
I was the only person that preordered this at Gamestop, I just remember the constant escorting / keeping your companion alive got to annoy. There is a game called Knights Contract that does this whole idea of the player being immortal better, and had a pretty decent story as well. Liked and subscribed great video :)
@@TheNPColiseum thanks so much!!! Glad you enjoyed the video, I’ll definitely check out knights contract, sounds awesome!!! Lost odyssey was also another game that did immortality really well!
I recently bought Knights Contract this year. It wasn’t cheap but it’s interesting. Wish I knew bout it when it first released.
@@Darkshadows147 I original bought it used at gamestop and traded it in, than years later I wanted it back, I had it on a Mercari search for over a year before I managed to get it back at an "ok" price. Its really great game and I'm glad another person found it :)
Nice video 👍🏽 I never heard of this game but I appreciate your clips and commentary I’ve been playing many games from this era since I’ve missed out on so much gaming
glad you're enjoying it! more vids to come!!!
I was literally trying to remember the name of this game over the last month, so glad you made a video about it!!!
Dude you just woke up a very, very especific memory! I used to love this game on the 360 and after a few months my disc got corrupeted and I could never go back to 100%. I really miss this game
I really miss that era of videogames. I bought Neverdead a couple years after release for around 5€ and I had a blast even though it's a game with a very rough edges. I wish more games like this one and Splatterhouse were made, Konami really has fallen really deep, It's a shame...
@@JackassKnoxvilleAlex it’s sad to see the lack of experimental gameplay types especially from major companies. Good thing we have lots of great indie games to make up for it, but I’d still like to see more from bigger companies with the budget to match !!
Oh lord seeing even a second of that Konami E3 presentation takes me back. I don't think I've even seen high school student presentations manage to be as gigantic a trainwreck as that was, although as I can't remember any of the actual game announcements they were trying to make I can't say I'm surprised I completely forgot Never Dead existed.
That *whole* e3 was a DISATER 😂
I remember picking up a copy of this game back when I was in high-school
@@shogomakishima9776 awesome! What was the initial reception of Neverdead back in the day? I feel like it’s got more appreciators nowadays but curious about what people thought when it first dropped
I remember playing the game when I was younger, it's actually still one of my favorite games to date still since it's unique and goofy fun
@@GrandpaJenkins9001 a fellow neverdead enjoyer, grandpa good good taste
maaan you really hit and old memory of my childhood, i have this game on my xbox 360 and yeah it was really clunky but i cant negate that i really enjoyed playing it, i even manage to get all archivements really love to see this video
(sorry if a have a bad english its not my first leaguage)
thanks for the comment! glad oyu also enjoyed neverdead, must've been awesome to play it and enjoy the multiplayer back in the day aswell!
I can feel this game had a much more fleshed out idea than what was made
You know I thought this game got cancelled, I didn't realise it had been released.
this was a great video, always feel like i gotta give props to people that get me to not be able to look away from my second monitor.
hope to see you get more subs
thank you so much i really appreciate it! ill continue to keep making more content!!!! Next vid is gonna be on the ffxv prequel games as i got them years ago before they were delisted!! (and i'm a huge ffxv apologist) and sunset overdrive soon after!!!
This is the predecessor to Wanted Dead in my mind. Might as well be.
This was a great analysis man! I legit never even know this game existed! I'm curious was it Megadeth that connected the dots for you or did you find out they were involved after you discovered the game?
Either way, this is one of the more interesting mechanics I've seen in a game! I can't believe I haven't seen it more haha
@@DaveedLucidI was watching some old e3 streams , including the konami 2010 one and came across never dead, the title interested me and soon as a I found the connection to megadeth I was all in ahahaha
@GuacaTypeBeat oh nice that's so dope, such a double whammy haha! E3 was such an ocean of gems!
8:44 we got Vamp at home
Alex is Vamp from metal gear 100%
I bought this game on a whim way back in the day for the PS3. Yea, it's jank, but it's such a plucky, earnest game that I can't really hate it. It still sits as a proud addition to my collection.
hell yeah!
I remember this game getting panned when it released. Too bad since it looks like whacky fun
@@jblask2 it’s a good romp for sure!!
good stuff pal. keep at it
Great video I remember playing maybe about half of this when I was younger. Was always a fever dream until I rediscovered it a few years ago.
R.i.P. E3.
Oh my god man you seriously just blew my mind, I had no idea Dave Mustaine was attached to this game... and I didn't know he recorded the guitar for Duke Nukem too! Megadeth rules
I'm 14 seconds in and the haphazard editing of the voiceover is really jarring.
what about it is haphazard for you? I would appreciate the feedback in more detail if possible bro so I can improve on it for future vids!
@@GuacaTypeBeat Hello. :) I have noticed a lot of people edit out the pauses and such out of their speech. Sometimes it's too much, you can tell when the very very end of a word is cut off. But the thing is, it makes it very "fatiguing" to listen to as there's no rests, so to speak. It's also unnatural. I'd recommend listening to the voiceovers on recent Game Sack videos and to just let your voiceover flow naturally - it's fine apart from that. I'm optimistic so I'll sub and keep an eye out. 👍 Happy video-ing!
@ I am definitely guilty of that aha, I feel as though I take too many breaths so I end up editing them all out. I’ve got a new vid coming out soon so I’ll ease up on it and check some game sack! It’ll probably save me some editing time aswell! Thanks again for the feedback I really appreciate it and thanks for subbing! I always appreciate criticism so feel free to let me know what you think whenever I upload!
Alex being gaara is what made me love this game
Awesome video. Seems like a unique and interesting game to play but I definitely couldn't handle 20-30 minutes for a boss battle!
Mid 2000's was peak gaming when it came to imagination and risky takes. One shot crazy story driven games that had a beginning, middle, and satisfying end. Fuking miss those times. Check out Banishers, another good one
I remember I was super new to Xbox 360 and unemployed, but dying for a new game to play that wasn't gonna break the bank. Found this in a Gamestop bargain bin and it really made an impact on me. It's fun, frustrating and so corny, but it's a really fond obscure memory I bring up any time my friends and I reminisce about that console era
I remember this game way then.
My thought was "oh how cute,Konami is emulating Devil may cry with characteristics of a suda51 game."
For those who Don't know this guy 2:22 his my dad
"7:07 you'll fight your first Vietnamese..."
What what?
LMAO I said “first few enemies” not Vietnamese
Megadeth is what ultimately lead me to actually seeking out and purchasing and owning and eventually playing NeverDead. True story.
This is a childhood classic. I was like 6-7 when I played this. First game I ever beat
Pretty good video, keep going
@@TheAmShagaarProduction thank you!!!
The fact that I share the same name as a mc from a obscure konami game makes me happy, and slightly confused 😅
I still have my copy of NeverDead. I was honestly shocked to see this from Konami, the trailer definitely had a more SUDA51 vibe. It's still a little gem I like going back to.
Dave mustaine? *Dave Mustaine* did the soundtrack to NEVERDEAD?
Put it on the board!
the toilet has to be a no more heroes ref
It wants to be dmc and godhand and I can respect that. Imagine if studio Clover(s) bought the IP and did exactly that.

The AAA wrestlers, wan mirrion troops, headless guy, and a few more little things. Wish I could go bàck.
I remember seeing this in a magazine a million years ago, sadly a used copy never popped up over the years I was grabbing 360 games.
I had this game... I was very young and I can't remember what makes me gave up, but I had to watch the ending on youtube
Bryce's VA is David Lodge, the same VA as Jiraya in Naruto
He also did Grigori from dragon's dogma, the absolute GOAT
This had some interesting concepts for sure. The gameplay was both simple but difficult. I felt like paper man. I kept waiting for the immortality power up to drop, like ok you have been around awhile can we stop holding back😂
Neverdead is the one that got away always wanted to play it
This game is a hidden gem of games, may not be very good but was good and unique in it's own way
I remember putting up with this game because I thought the idea was interesting and the story was somewhat decent…… I rage quit on the final boss because the dismemberment mechanics were really messing with me, got stuck where I kept getting dismembered and it was instant death
it is absolutely awful, i dont blame you for quitting. maybe oneday you can return to it!!!
Not going to lie that story had me on the edge of my seat 😂😂
that 2010 game looks better then games Ubisoft put out in the last years XD
Man. I forgot this game existed.
I still own NeverDead on PS3.
Oh wow, seeing this game really transports me back to 2012. TWD Season 1, Mass Effect 3 ending controversy, the AC3 hype, etc.
It was a weird year, because it wasn't as strong as 2011 and mixed with the controversy it somehow managed to stay in my mind. 2014 for comparison, being really weak compared to 2013, never stayed much in my memories.
About Never Dead, i remember seeing gameplay of the game, where the protagonist lost a leg and he was fighting something, and with true 7th gen style, the frame rate was very bad lol
The early 2010s were a weird time where I feel we were transitioning into the heart of HD gaming having a more cemented style. It was great because we still had a lot of experimental games and media, but because it wasn't optimized well it often is hard to go back to. I often think of stuff like NeverDead, Asura's Wrath, Cursed Crusade, Enslaved, so many random games that while are really good in there own way.
Would be nice if there was a remaster,
that also polish some of the junkiness and improve gameplay abit,
and improve everything else just a little.
@@bobbynick5358 100% a remaster would be amazing!!! Here’s hoping
YOU CAN MOVE YOUR BODY FREELY

Dave Mustaine is the best, always play stellar shows.
I got to see him last year, he was awesome
Highlight of the show was when he said “this next song….is about the weather………….tornado of souls” such a goofball ahahaha
I totally forgot about this games, it was so fun to play!
I never realized. Probably because Neverdead was one of the fastest times I ever quit a game in the whole 7th generation. Like even faster than Bulletwitch. Like Eat Lead: The Return of Matt Hazard even played better.
hey look, it could be worse. It could be ride to hell retribution LOL
I remember seeing a clip of this as a kid and thinking it was so cool! I've been going half mad trying to find out what this was and I convinced myself it was a dream or something I had, I feel so vindicated knowing that it's real!

I wish the game had more mechanics of Bryce throwing his arms with his sword in them to deal far away slash damage, really add more to the dismemberent and immortality part.
Either way, flawed but cool game, hopefully a dedicated fan can try and remake the game, as Konami probably won’t renew the IP claim any time soon.
That slashing mechanic would actually be awesome! i can imagine it being really goofy, like he throws the arm with the sword and it acts like a boomerang coming back.
Id love to see a remake with a more stable frame rate and working multiplayer. Hell if ti sa fun project, adding more megadeth tracks would be awesome aswell, or atleast adding the title track for each boss.
