@Pedro So you honestly believe that, they are gonna put all that time and effort for $10k for one car when they probably make that easily in a few days of the week??. That's straight up passion but charging the the right price for it. That's detailing for you.

What you said at the start about not knowing when to stop working on a car is so true, I work with cars that come "fresh" from the factory and I still have a hard time deciding when enough is enough.
I was a car salesman, when we'd get busy I'd have to detail what I sold. Basically I became a car detailer for the rest of my day anytime this happened. There's always more you can do.
This makes sense in the preservation of the car since it will become a classic in the next few years. I’m guessing the owner isn’t going to drive it and have it in the garage. Also them cleaning the undercarriage helps the prevention of rust. So this car will be worth a pretty penny when the time comes.
Not really. This car isn’t a classic by any means. Just a rusted up bmw. Maybe the value will jump 10k in 15-20 years, highly doubt it though with this bmw series.

I get this car is now an "art piece", but can't avoid thinking that it is now far from what it was first designed for: providing thrills while being driven. To each his own. Congratulations on showing what is possible.
Every time we do a Concours de’Elegance detail, we pull the motor, drop the transmission, the exhaust, pull all the windows and panels... we go until it’s pretty much just a frame and a few piles of parts. $10,000 starting point for this tells me my prices are way off in the detailing aspect of my business!! You did do a very nice job for only 84 hours though! Keep up the good work and thank you for taking the time to upload!!
This is just art. How much time and effort put into this is simply amazing. For the people saying it’s not worth it well it might not be worth it for you but you don’t realize how much patience and passion you have to have to go these extreme lengths of perfection. Respect the hard work of these people instead of bringing your negativity here because you can’t afford or see value in it.
It's a crazy detail, I get it. 99.3% of cars out there don't need a detail to this level, but we sure did have fun doing it and I can't wait to do another one. Who is up next?
Loved the video. I cleaned the Z8 new and thought it would be this cool many years later. The detail was next level for sure. If i were crazy enough to critique a 10k detail it would be the rotors. After being a detailer for BMW for almost 2 decades the rotors have been my pet peeve. I actually use them until the rotors are free from the rust (caused usually by the cleaners) by driving indoors because once used it will only get back on the wheel. I know it might not be a huge deal especially for the type of extra protection you guys did on the wheels. Just nipicking at this point......once again great to see detailing done on another whole level!
Loved every single second of this video, mostly because of the dedication and love for your work. You guys make me get even angrier at people who tell me a car is just a transportation method. Keep it up guys, you refine art!
I’m glad I stumbled on this video. Everyone commenting that this is an “overpriced” project or “I can do this in my garage” just doesn’t understand. I have both my vehicles ceramic coated, one is my daily and the other is my little “show” truck that I’ve had forever, and it is absolutely amazing. Once you care enough about your vehicle to begin to notice little things like swirls, you’ll never be able to look at other cars the same, and you would have wished you ceramic coated your vehicle sooner to receive that max protection. Great video and excellent work guys!
I have a 2016 Black Obsidian Metallic E400 Mercedes-Benz with 16,400 miles. It is my pride and joy and kept in prime condition inside and out. Never driven in the winter or rainy days always kept indoors. No scratches, swirls, mirror gloss shine and very smooth surface at the touch. Always carefully hand wash and detailed with the best products possible. Now I say this because after watching this video if I had the means, I would take my vehicle in a close trailer. Drive all the way from Washington State to my home town to these guys for a complete ceramic coating and interior protection treatment. Although I've done a pretty decent job taking care of my vehicle I don't come close to these guys craftsmanship and attention to total detail. You can see the love and dedication these guys at Chicago Auto Pros have for each vehicle that comes to them. Yeah it may seem pricey to some folks what these guys do but dang it's worth every penny for that kind of craftsmanship. 👍
Jason truly awesome detail. The interior is just off the hook. You know when videoing something there is always something missed. Anytime you pick up a spray gun better have eye protection and well as the respirator. You only get 1 set of eyes.
I have to say the products that were used and the care that you took in detailing this car was love and respect for the owner's pride for the vehicle. Did an over the top awesome job. How often do owners want a job like this done to their cars? How sad that these cars should be driven not for sitting in a museum or a car show. Has Jay Leno ever came to you guys to detail a car of his?
Exactly what I was think! They didnt even drop the exhaust to polish it just did it with DA polishers. I would NOT spend 10k to get this done like this. This is a scam 100% for the money even if its going on a showroom floor.
This cleaning is costing more than my car. But man, I am so satisfy watching this video, im just getting into car detaling myself lately, hence why it was recommended for me lol
I am trying for the last 7 years to become dedicating detailer. And finally this year with a bit of a hard work I will save the money and enjoy does beautiful moments. Is a bit hard when you got family to look after. My brother he jumping,he wants to help me to. Together we will make a different out there. Like I said teamwork dream work. Thank you for inspiration 🤗
$10k and they don’t even take the wheel arch liners or under trays out to check for trapped dirt waiting to form rust traps in there or protect the paint behind them?!!
There isn't paint behind wheel liners and engine splash shields. How would dirt get behind a wheel liner of a garage kept car that gets driven maybe 15 times a year? Stop acting like this car is a mud truck.
boo sted any car that’s getting driven any amount will have dirt there. And what do you think is on the inside of wheel wells lol. It will definitely rust if not cleaned. I doubt it will with this car though because it’s probably in a climate controlled storage.
@@jlplightning9487 it basically should be restoration at $10k. If im spending that kind of money, I want every single square inch of the car detailed 2 times over.
@@adominable1 Except dirt doesnt cause rust though, gallons of water aren't sitting in wheel well dude. Have you ever taken finder liners off? I restore and paint cars for a living. Many cars have a factory base coat on inner fenders that will never see the light of day. You're acting like its a clear coated paint. Whats even more funny is my travel truck a 2012 f150 had over 188k highway miles, when i replaced a fender liner due to hitting a semi tire in the road it was almost spotless inside. So how is this car gonna dirt ect inside when its a dust baby.
Very good, excellent. I'm starting my life as a detailer and I learn a lot from you. My garage is called Studio 1 and I hope, one day, to do as you guys do. Congratulations
It's never about the money here, never ever. Its the passion of these guys that has made many cars better than brand new. I neither have a sports car nor money to buy one right now. But for sure whenever I'll have any I am coming to Chicago to you guys. Thanks for such an amazing amazing work.
A lot of money for a detail, but for one that has an increasing value like the Z8 and that great of condition...totally worth it to keep the 200K car in showroom condition...great work!
Thank you someone finally said it. This isnt your everyday car, it's fairly rare and collectable. Not saying that I'd ever pay that much, (work detail in body shop.) But I think his price is mostly reasonable. Detail is pretty hard. Takes time
As a Porsche owner, I appreciate the care and detail applied in this package. Those critical of the cost, have clearly not spent many hard earned dollars on a premium vehicle that brings you joy and that you have a passion for every time you see it or drive it. I have had many US or Asian made cars. They are not the same. There is something special about a well built, premium vehicle. You feel it when you get in. The cost of all of these tools and materials to accomplish the task is great and that does not take into account knowledge, experience, and skill. Time is money, and often in life it is cheaper to pay for someone to do the work than it is for you to do it yourself. That is capitalism. I value your time or product and in exchange I will give you some of my money. If you value your money more than the product or service, then don't buy it. Repainting and replacing parts does not ensure a perfect result as some suggest. The throw away or replace mentality that is common place gets tiresome. Okay, rant off. Great work, Jason and crew!
Dedication in a video, I love how meticulous your team is, a great place to work and learn. A detail like that would be awesome for a car show or sema 👍🏻
What I love to be honest, besides the car, besides the passion... is the fact you are using a great product that even a yr and half after shooting this, not many people know about and if they do then they arent willing to pay the extra money to have it shipped. Most detailers are using Sonax, Swissvax, Gtechniq, Ammo, Gyeon, Nanolex or even Adams for their "High End Details". I have used some of AM's stuff before and love it and to see it used on a $10 detail is amazing
So glad to see you detailing the undercarriage of this car, because I always put my own car on a lift to see how well my car detail guys polish my exhaust pipes and shock absorbers!
I love paint correction ever since 2014 when I learned about it. Wish I could do this as a job but nobody in my area pays well to get a paint correction done. I get a zen feeling putting on my Bose headphones and tuning out the world and connecting with the vehicles I’ve done which have been my own. I’ve always been a car guy and this opened up a new chapter in the world of loving cars. Hopefully my son who will be coming into this world in March will share these passions with me as well. Fingers crossed🤞🏼
I feel like for $10,000 you could have sent the brake rotors out to be resurfaced, or even replaced (even if it cost an extra few hundred dollars to the customer). You did such a good job cleaning and correcting everything else, that the rusty rotors behind shiny chrome really stand out and detract from the appearance of the entire vehicle. It's a 10/10 from the waist up, just don't look at her feet!
Cost aside, this might be my fav detailing video of all-time. Great job and attention to detail! It’s one thing to detail and address minor flaws. It’s another to fix them all and add future protection so this Bimmer can be preserved forever.
I just had my 98 Jeep Grand Cherokee detailed. I paid $100 and tipped them 20 bucks. They had it done in one day. Mine is a daily driver but still looks showroom fresh (to me). ☺
For $100.00 you get what you pay for they put lots of protection to this car also some one did mention No ppf was installed that right there was a good point but the detail that was done by this crew was pretty extensive. P.S your Jeep will look same or worst in a month where as a car that has been protected will take longer and at same times less time to detail because of protection. Just saying 🤷🏽♂️

$100 details are typically wash, wax and interior cleaning... A polish if you are lucky .. while the results maybe drastic from the condition you brought it in from this is a whole different kind of service. Most car owners would benefit from a good $300 detail done nicely with quality products with trained staff maybe every other year or so depending on condition... The years in-between can generally be maintained by keeping up on waxes and getting small single service details (door dash console cleaning, mat cleanings etc) periodically
I'm just waiting for the $1,000,000 detail where they put you and your family up in a 5 star resort in the Cayman Islands. Well said Chicago Auto ! This detail isn't for your average Joe, by protecting this car and detailing it the way you did, you have allowed the owner to save himself from spending thousands of dollars on doing a full restoration on this car in the future. As we all can clearly see, you guys have prepared this car for Barret Jackson.. Amazing work, Congratulations. Only one thing to do now, Have your rep Call Jay Leno😄💪👍. You'll be Booked for years to come. Great work guys!
For 10k they should have cleaned the inside of the headlights too. I've seen people doing DIY using heat to open the headlights, polish them and glue them back to perfection. I was shocked they left them like that.
honestly.. I don't have 10k for a detail, and I definitely ain't got 200k for this beamer. But even on my 7k 2009 Nissan Maxima I replaced perfectly good rotors a year after install to get fresh ones on there because it made it look so much better. I just couldn't imagine doing a 10k detail, to make this car look impeccable.. and not replacing these rotors.. or atleast resurfacing them. what is the point to go through all of that work when the first thing you see when you look at the car is old rusty rotors? major oversight. but you guys do amazing work otherwise.
Lmao that rust was caused due to the washing of the car lad, it’s bare metal exposed to water and soap so it surface rusts instantly. A single drive cleans up all of the rust completely. Did this to my own maxima yesterday
I once spent 36 hours on a full exterior, and partial interior detail, waxed, sealed, and cured the exterior... Literally the first drive I took with it was through a muddy, salty, slushy, snowy, and rainy high mountain pass. Just ruined. I haven't detailed any car since. I just do a wash every so often and a clay bar once per year or so. If you even drive in "nice weather" only, there is still dust, dirt, grime, contaminants, fine rock particles, all blown by the wind and cars around you (and your own car) it is just plain impossible to keep a pristine vehicle if you ever drive it. And that's nice weather. It only gets worse from there. This z8 detail was 84 hours times how many employees? 4? So it's approximately a 320 hour detail, and they still didn't sand the clear coat. That would have taken an few days to correct all the orange peel. Just amazing work, but such fleeting results. They have to transport it in a vacuum sealed pillow so contaminants don't immediately start to mar the surface microscopically.
Loved every bit of it! This is coming from a Pro detailer to another... great job! People dont realize how time consuming and back breaking this is... and your staff gets so tired and you get so tired afterwards. There is surely a trade of by doing such a luxury detail. One may have to delay or not accept other cars for a week or so. The pressure to match customers expectation is huge and when we start going all out.. it can take ages and time really goes fast!
They should have replaced them with ceramics but it didn't look like there were many mechanics on the team. Why wouldn't you also drop the exhaust and remove the seats.
Really Really Amazing Job, Over and above any expectation. One Thing!! You left the RUSTY BRAKE DISCS untouched that ruined all the hard amazing work you put in. For $10000 I would have just put in New Discs.
I can only dream of having a car like this in such amazing condition. 20 years on and it looks like it just rolled out of the factory. This car will be worth a serious amount of money 😍
My OCD strongly approves of everything happening here and finds it all immensely satisfying.. 👍👌 What do you guys think of the Rupes Bigfoot Nano kit? Seems like a tool practically tailor made specifically for you guys and the kind of detailing and correction you do! Do you prefer one version over the other? Very few in-depth reviews and capability demonstrations out there for it. What little there is seems mixed.. 😔 But I really one! 😍
Hard work has a price, especially if the quality of the result is high, as this car is. 10000$ seems a lot but if you think about the number of hours, people, materials that went into this detail the profit is very low. Great work guys, keep it up!
In my country the breakdown of the detail similar would cost as follows. Undercarriage wash & protect $12, Body wash $3, Engine bay $6, Interior detailing $50, Exterior detailing $60, Headlight restoration $15, Glass polishing $30 Thats a total of $176. I was just saying
He said 80+ hours and I mean just alone to pay the employees hes probably close to 5000$ if it's 3 guys at 20$ an hour and who knows if they are more. Plus the tools aren't cheap
@Chris Ruiz No I get that but for this guy to say 1000$.. if your in Canada or the US that is insanely low balling just considering the wages. No one ever thinks of that. Even the electricity, the products, all that has to be taken into consideration when they come up with a fair price. Not saying I would ever pay 10K but I can understand why it's expensive.
It's clocking hours; has nothing to do with patience... The customer gets the bill, which includes all man-hours and materials and I believe also the occupied spot in the shop... Do you guys believe that a cake maker works any different?
@A Dude Patience has nothing to to with work hours. There are certain jobs that require perfection. Which can only be achieved by being patient because of the several repetitions & attention to detail. At the average hourly pay, a McDonald’s employee would have it far easier than say his employee. If you’re the kinda person who wants things done as quick as possible these kinda jobs ain’t gonna cut it for you. Needs calm & composed individuals
@@jayaseto NOPE! It's clock-hours! You, most likely don't own a business. The job requirements are as described; there is a permanent control of his work quality and there is no acceptance of failure. You mess-up, you redo or you don't get paid... For the worker it's the same time spent at work. He has no reason to do faster because it doesn't make sense... Your comparison with McD is childish.
I bought my car for €500. Yesterday i spent €50 for a wet-vac extraction to remove 13 years of swamp ass from the seats. The tought crossed my mind that i just spent 10% of what i paid for the car just for clean seats but it is totally worth it even on a shitbox like mine. Considering this is a rare collectible sports car most car shows would love to have on the floor i can only imagine the tingly feelings i would have seeing it all nice and shiny like this. Not to menition the added longevity of the parts that were starting to oxidise underneath. Besides that i wouldn't be suprised if this detailing increased the resale value of the car by most, if not the entirety of the cost of the detailing.
Feel like its not really about the money more so the Art of detailing and far it could go. I wish I could work here and learn.

Sounds like it’s right up my OCD alley! Nice vid! 👍🏻
About 1/2 way through, I realized my computer screen was too dirty to do this level of work justice.
Props on the level of detail.
I had to wipe my phone's screen over and over lol
Cheers! Thank you for the kind words.

Jason truly awesome detail. The interior is just off the hook. You know when videoing something there is always something missed. Anytime you pick up a spray gun better have eye protection and well as the respirator. You only get 1 set of eyes.
Thanks Ralph, good advice too.
I have to say the products that were used and the care that you took in detailing this car was love and respect for the owner's pride for the vehicle. Did an over the top awesome job. How often do owners want a job like this done to their cars? How sad that these cars should be driven not for sitting in a museum or a car show. Has Jay Leno ever came to you guys to detail a car of his?
dang for 10,000 i figured they would take out the engine and trans then dress it.
This is a scam my boy.
Aaron Cowley Same really
No, that's the $15,000 one.
Exactly what I was think! They didnt even drop the exhaust to polish it just did it with DA polishers. I would NOT spend 10k to get this done like this. This is a scam 100% for the money even if its going on a showroom floor.
My thoughts exactly m8
Its a detail not a restoration ffs.
boo sted any car that’s getting driven any amount will have dirt there.

Chicago Auto Pros great job gentlemen.
The car looks beyond fantastic in person.
Takes time
The way this man talks you can genuinely tell and feel that he has a tru passion and that this isnt just car cleaning but rather a form of art
Cheers, Thanks for watching.
If you love what you do you'll never have to work again! It's all play. Lucky man. All the best.
Can ya do this to my car please but I only have nine dollars
Let it be done M’Lord
That was awesome!!! You guys did an amazing job, keep it up!!
Best detailing iv ever seen on here well done guys im comin to you

This video is so satisfying to me. Awesome work.
Surface rust will disappear after a short drive.

The years in-between can generally be maintained by keeping up on waxes and getting small single service details (door dash console cleaning, mat cleanings etc) periodically

you wouldn't be able to repaint that car and have it be better than the factory finish for 10k
the whole point was to keep it factory
It's fun to see that people think new paint will somehow possibly look better

One drive around the block and they look brand new again lol

Lmao that rust was caused due to the washing of the car lad, it’s bare metal exposed to water and soap so it surface rusts instantly. A single drive cleans up all of the rust completely. Did this to my own maxima yesterday
@@11LancerSportback and where does that rust and brake dust end up . Right back on the paint
I wish I could work for a detail shop like this and learn more 😍 I work for a dealership in wisconsin as a detailer and live for the dirty trade ins
Nothing could be done to the rusty rotors? The rusty backdrop for the wheels kinda dimmed it.
Cor Gi I mean you could get the rust off and polish them. You’d also ruin the detail by slamming into a tree because of a lack of stopping power 😂
@@seanobannon4888 with this level of detail why not put new sets on them...?

Hard work has a price, especially if the quality of the result is high, as this car is. 10000$ seems a lot but if you think about the number of hours, people, materials that went into this detail the profit is very low. Great work guys, keep it up!

$1,000 would be a fair price for this kinda detail!
Don’t know about that. It seems like a big process.

@A Dude Patience has nothing to to with work hours. There are certain jobs that require perfection. Which can only be achieved by being patient because of the several repetitions & attention to detail. At the average hourly pay, a McDonald’s employee would have it far easier than say his employee. That detailing is 5% of that car’s value. It really doesn’t make sense
Not true, body paint and interior upholstery condition makes up much more than youd think.
Like what he said in the beginning. This car value is only going up higher and higher each year. Its an investment.
Richard Hanjeleer “13 years of swamp ass” 😂
Nope, a car in this final condition is worth more than when it came in, the cost of detailing is easily recuperated in the value.
