This is a great number. Channing Tatum has proven that he is a multi-talented performer with a wide range.
A great number, right. Astaire and Kelly are turning in their graves.
The Coen Brothers make some really interesting movies. And Channing Tatum has come a long way.
This is phenomenal, absolutely hilarious. Tatum at his best! 😂😂😂
That barman's timing - superb! ❤
The best scene/set piece in the film -infinitely re-watchable!
He's a GREAT dancer actually. And a decent singer. He's the closest thing we have to an old fashioned Musical Film: "Song & Dance" man these days.
Hugh Jackman, Jeremy Jordan, Neil Patrick Harris. So many really
@@sevendegrees I wasn't excluding them, BUT they are Broadway leading men. And they are ALL amazing. Jackman being the one exception of them to Musically Film cross over. Wait, I take that back Jordan did the film version of "Newsies."
Speaking of Jordan though, he DEFINITELY should have also been in Greatest Showman, imho. He would have been MUCH BETTER as Philip Carlyle than Zac Efron. He's a MUCH BETTER singer and actor. Efron was ok, but Jordan would have KILLED it. Plus, I think he and Zendaya would have had WAY EDGIER chemistry; which is what those roles demanded.
"actually"
Actually, there's Ryan Gosling.
@@barbarasmith7432 Yes, but Gosling is DEFINITELY an "Actor" you know what I mean? LA LA Land was him singing and dancing for showing off his "range" as an actor.
For Tatum it's just natural. And Gosling isn't even close to being THAT good of a dancer. I ❤️ Ryan Gosling, but he's not naturally a "song and dance" man like that.
He's 1000x's a BETTER actor than Tatum is though.
Never seen this before and loved it. Channing Tatum I hope that is your voice because it would make you the all round performer I love.
"You're gonna have to beat it." 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Hail, Caesar was a movie about Hollywood fixers. There's also a great segment with Scarlett Johannsen as an Esther Williams type swimming star.
Great movie. Hilarious. Love Coen Brothers movies!
2:49 that jump is impeccable, Chaning is a very good dancer and this scene is one of the best, well choreographed, uplifting and fun. It's a shame that musical films like those by Kelly and Astaire are no longer made.
That's a lot of fun! Tatum is a genius.
We need more happy movies like this. ✌😎👍
Tell me you haven't seen the movie without telling me
Oh my! How I haven't seen this before! I Love it!❤ He should be doing more movies like this it's awesome 🤩
They need to bring this kind of movie back. Channing Tatum just oozes Gene Kelly!
Catch "Magic Mike".
Channing, I'm the daughter of legendary STEVE CONDOS. I don't know who did the choreography but you did a great job. There are a few steps and one number with you guys. 3 of you on the barstool that was reminiscent of a scene from my movie. My father made with his brother Nick Condos & Betty Grable in the 40's.
What???!! Channing Tatum! 😂This is great.
how many of y'all haven't seen Ste Up? this man can DANCE. like frfr
This is so incredible!!!! 🌈✨💗I love it!!
He is so talented, and gorgeous on top
Love love love love love this!!
Luv me some Channing Tatum ❤❤❤❤😊
What a throwback!
Well done.
Impressive that he can move his beefy frame at times like a pro dancer who'd be flying through that routine. The sitting stool leg routine was 👍
That is one brilliant satire
Well, THAT was a hoot!
It looked like Christopher Lambert in the director's chair at the end! He's in the cast according to IMDb.
Both Josh Brolin & Christopher Lambert are ex husbands of Diane Lane 😮
We got sunlight on the sand, we got moonbeams on the sea...........
Gene Kelly. We miss you.
"It ain't that kind of a place!'"
Why not? all the ingredients are there.
He looks like Van Johnson! So many moves from MGM glory days ....
Brilliant!!!
LOL. First time seeing this.
GREAT dance scene!
Why wasn't he in more of this genre. What a waste of talent, charm and charisma. Giving off modern Gene Kelly vibes❤
Because they don’t make those movies anymore.
Amazing !
Very talented man 👍💯👏🥳😘
Catchy dance routine.
................fabulous
I honestly had no idea of this side of Channing, fantastic stuff!
All I can say is wow, this was a very pleasant surprise love from Canada
Witty, fun, entertaining AND amusing … nice twist from the last minute. Subbed.
Unbelievably fantastic !!! Where do I see more of this?
That’s excellent! Very talented
Awesome 😎👍😎 thanks
Sweet! Not Gene Kelly but very nice!
He's as close as we'll ever get.
This is the 1st i heard of this film.
There is a reason why even Danny McBride calls him Channing Tate Yum!
Wow,what a Dancer Channing Chatum is I love his moves. Reminds of Gene Kelly. Best tap dancer ever.
The moves remind me more of Gene Nelson.
Gene was pretty but the Nicolas Brothers were better tappers.
Okay, but where's the petition to make this into a real movie?
❤❤❤❤❤❤
All the Gene Kelly energy.
How have I never seen this before? Why doesn't Channing Tatum tap into this part of entertainment? Best thing since Hene Kelly, Fred Astaire, and Frank Sinatra Era entertainment!
Because it's 70 years too late.
The film's story is a little bland/subtle, and the individual scenes--though spectacular in a lot of ways on their own--can sometimes struggle to form a cohesive whole.
I’ve never seen this either!!
I know you meant to write Gene 😂❤
It's a cute scene in an otherwise terrible film.
Love the dance. But, NO taps on the bottom of their shoes!! 👞
They did not need the taps...its the floor and tables which mutes the need fir actual taps.
Like I said. Great dance. Channing is extremely talented as we all know!
I tapped all my life… but, these taps were dubbed in… lol. You can see the bottoms of their tap shoes have NO taps. So it was dubbed in later. Not sure what you said about tables/floors. But, it’s all good! 🕺🏻
Add the sound of taps later on the track.....😊
The bar stool sequence at 3:05 is so Gene Kelly.
WOW!!
It’s not bad considering we are long ways away from the heyday of the Hollywood musicals in the 1930’s-50’s, but we never really see a close up of his feet doing anything too fancy. I don’t think Fred Astaire or Gene Kelly need to worry about their legacies.
Take that, Gene Kelly!
Hardly! Very basic tap dancing .
Wow. This had some terrible marketing if no one has heard of it. Just Tatum’s dancing should have brought some internet buzz. Hard to believe.
This is a remake of another movie scene!!
But still almost as nice as the original one.
What scene from what movie?
""""Go Channing!!!!"".....a tap danc'in fool....👏🏼👏🏼💪🏼👏🏼👏🏼❤😉......!!!!""
What is this from? Is there a movie called Hail, Caesar? I’ve never heard of it and I knew Tatum could dance, but tap? Singing? He is a very talented performer. He should head to Broadway.
I think I see a lot of Gene Nelson's influence here.
Brilliant! ...Tiktoker G.A.TURKS
Reminds me of & has the build & talent of a young Gene Kelly
No. Basic tap dancing but nowhere in Gene's league.
Lots of computer generated shots, several scenes of feet and legs which may or may not be Channing; however that big gay finish was terrific!
None of that is true. He did his own dancing. He was already a dancer. He learned this sequence for the film.
Where are the taps on their shoes lol and computer generated scene on the table tops but a fun scene reminiscent of the Gene Kelly era.
Taps on shoes make dancing on tables very slippery and dangerous. In films the taps are usually added in later in post production.
When i was in the Navy 1991-94 every time a aircraft carrier pulled in to port the gay bars filled up .
He's definitely in the Gene Kelly lineage.
The gay energy is what I needed from these sailors 🫡
Is this the Clooney, Commie movie?
Our generation’s Gene Kelly
Half of this movie is really good- I think it loses some steam when it really focusses in on the communism subplot. If Hail, Caesar had just been 2 hours of Eddie Mannix putting out fires all over Hollywood, interspersed with odes to classic Hollywood moments (like this scene), I think it would be more beloved. As it stands, a lot of my friends hate this movie, lol
I agree w/ your evaluation. I liked the fix-ot aspect & all the,set pieces & characters but wasn't much of a fan of the Communist plot aspect.
Agree, liked all the Tilda & Ralph Fiennes scenes. Even Jonah Hill & Scarlett were funny. Little Easter Eggs like Highlander & the Kurgan. Brolin & Lambert are exes of Diane Lane. 😮
Agreed. The film, overall, was a bit of a letdown. But the pastiches of the great 50s film types are works of pure genius and radiate such gaity- er, joy.
Something looks off in their body movements like it’s not real
I know he’s a dancer but maybe it’s just he’s face on someone else body?
He is hotter than Gene Kelly🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Great number in an otherwise really, really bad, disappointing movie - perhaps the Coen Brothers' worst. I couldn't believe how bad it was the first time I saw it so I waited six months and watched it again. Yeah. It's terrible. But this number is great: easily the highlight of the show. And I'm a big fan of the Coens.
Many film critics liked the movie; receiving ‘positive’ reviews. It had an 84% positivity score from Rotten Tomatoes!
I liked this film a lot, so opinions differ.
This was very entertaining and tongue-in-cheek, but the dancing is nothing compared to the "real deal"
All the stand calling this phenomenal… the taps aren’t real, the foot work is so slow… because this whole routine was created for non-dancers. To me, it’s like watching an MGM dance routine in slow-motion. Quite depressing when you realise they could do it better in the 30/40s… the concept of talent has changed.
that was cute, it was fun, but it was very basic tap 101. Channing does not have the charisma of either Mr. Kelly or Mr. Astaire and to throw in a Nicolas brothers step or two when they had to tone the brothers down because Gene Kelly could not keep up with them makes this a pretty mediocre number. Fred Astaire once gave Debbie Reynolds an insight as to the many hours and bleeding from tapping he spent an entire day with her to show her it really is blood and sweat to get the numbers right for the public (which tapping was pretty common back then) in the movies. A much better and more original route would have been would be what Kathleen Marshall came up with for Sutton Foster and the gang in Anything Goes, it was very original, very exciting, and was not trying for things over the heads of the performers, it gave them an opportunity to shine. Channing is a great stripper dancer and hip hop dancer, but as for a tapper and trying to be a hofer he needed many more hours of study to allow himself to shine. He comes across as giving iot his best shot but the hours learning to tap so you can razzle dazzle as a hofer, sad to say it was not there.
