Damn, that’s really Channing Tatum doing a backflip at 6:00 . his character doesn’t ask for too much dramatic acting but psychically he looks like a directors dream.

I was amazed at the skills of the actors. Tatum is a really trained and good dancer! And that dismount from the horse by Ehrenreich is fantastic! The Coens are able to attract the A list of Hollywood to their pictures. They know they're in for a good time with them. Clooney looks like he's having a ball.

@@lumpyfishgravy He can indeed. And he's channeling Gene Kelly too. It's a shame they keep using actors/actresses who can barely sing and dance for musical adaptations (although to be honest, I don't like most of the newer musicals like Into the Woods or La la Land anyway). I wish there would have been a movie version of a good musical with performers like Tatum, maybe someone like Christina Aguilera in her prime. Weren't there plans back then of a dark Alice in Wonderland musical version with her?

I've watched scenes being shot a number of times and what impressed me most was just how tedious and time-consuming it can be. Aside from talent, it takes real stamina to endure it AND produce a convincing performance. I don't know how they do it! On the other hand, the part of film-making that I find engrossing and rather relaxing is editing, and that is a task a lot of people would find mind-numbing.

    • @The22on
      @The22on 5 років тому +2

Stanley Kubrick said the fun was in the editing. He always re-edited large parts of the film after it was shown to studio executives and test audiences. That's what was troubling about Eyes Wide Shut. He never got a chance to re-edit after he gave the 'finished' film to the studio. He died four days later. Had he lived, there is no doubt he would have chopped the hell out of the film like he always does. It would have been a different film. He had 'final cut' which means the studio could not touch his movie. Some say there were some scenes they couldn't leave in and there was no choice but to 'remove' him. Then the studio could butcher his masterpiece any way they wanted. But that's speculation and we'll never know what really happened. I guess the actors know what scenes they filmed, but there's no reason for them to talk about it. RIP Stanley Kubrick.

I sat with a friend in the back room of Perry's restaurant in S.F. a few years ago. In the middle of the meal I realized the Cohen's were sitting to my right with what looked like relatives. I tell my friend to look to his left. His "ten o'clock".He tells me, "I can't. I can't move my head." Whattaya mean you can't move your head? "My neck. It's stuck." Well turn your whole torso. "No. I can't." He never saw them. Sitting about six feet away. Never believed me. You bet I took a pic.

Hail Caesar ! meets Christ and The Truth ?
Hail the Coen Brothers for a movie that would that it were so simple,
    was in fact trippingly complex.
The movie has many plots, and the most obvious is not seen, probably
because of the trailers that misdirect us. Its a movie about people
playing double parts, where the image and the reality is not real. The
two twin sisters one good, one bad. The great cowboy actor who gets to
play an aristocrat, the innocent swimmer who has been married three
times, smoke like a fish...and on and on...
What are my observations ? Its really about Eddie Manix, so religious
and so Christian that he says his Rosary at his desk, and who has to go
    confession, every 20 hours.
The production of Hail Caesar sees Eddie Manix to hold a meeting of the
reps from the world religions, and the Jewish man really hates Christ.
The communists are out to conquer Hollywood, and even a capitalist, and
his hydrogen bomb tries to corrupt Eddie
On and on...and the best is the last in the three minutes...the part
before 'a truth we could see if we had but ...."Manix.
Its suppose to be a presentation before the thief, but in fact its
    before Christ.
    Take another look...
