Great vid btw
Lol yeah I was getting much higher frames when I recorded but for some reason OBS crapped out on the FPS
Wow, this was by far the best ILS tutorial I've seen. Thank you so much.
No problem man!!!
I feel the same way!! Thanks man!!! It makes it so much more fun when you know how the controls work! 😃
@@CDLClassA No problem brother!!
Finally well explained
I've been flying prop planes in this sim just because I can't get these jets to smoothly land. This was incredibly helpful. Please keep making more tutorials for those of us that want to pursue this sim.
Yes sir! So glad I could be helpful! What else would you like to see?
I love how you are explaining every steps comparing to other people who don't explain, but just show that they know what we don't know. I'll watch your other videos. Please keep these videos coming
Amazing video, I did an ILS landing completely by accident the other day and haven't been able to figure it out until watching this! Didn't know about arming the spoilers/having them deploying automatically either, very cool!
At last, someone who explains it easy. I really appreciate you making this video. Cheers
Yes sir! That is the goal. I was tired of seeing all these videos that were hours long on how to do an ILS landing, so I broke the most important stuff down and made a pretty short video showing how to do this. So glad you enjoyed and learned from it!
Great tutorial, thanks! Could be worth adding a guide on how to transition from navigating along a path to an ILS landing
Yes very true. I will be doing full flights with ILS's in them very soon.
This is the best video I have seen on ils. Thanks a ton❤
Many thanks for the Clear and Easy Explanation Captain on ILS. I have seen Real Airbus Pilots have Not been able to Make it So Simple. Much Appreciated Sir and Please Keep Adding Such Good Material.
Again Captain Horn, you have shown the procedures in simple terms making it easy to follow. Thank you!
Solid tutorials that actually teach you things. Thanks man!
Happy to help!
Excellent tutorial ,very clearly spoken and done in a way i can understand as a 68yr old with shocking hearing..... THANK YOU YOUNG MAN
Thank you so much for your kind words!!! I’m glad to of helped you out sir!
thank you, your video really covers all of the curiosity we have as beginners ... really good piece of tutorial right here.
You're the best man, literally. You have the best tutorials for this game on UA-cam🥇. Asobo should hire you. The more people are able to understand this game, the more they will be invested and encourage others to join the fun. Thanks again.
Thank you so much!!! This means sooo much to me! That would be amazing if Asobo would let me be a sponser! :)
Glad to see another professional pilot who makes videos that actually knows what they are talking about. I've been flying 25 years and started making videos a week ago. Sometimes flying is easier than making videos.
I guess I am doing good if I seem professional! Lol. I’m a professional sinner for sure haha. I have not had one day of flight training in my life!
@@captainhorn23 you sure fooled me if you've never had a day of flight training. I'm amazed at the level of knowledge some simmers possess. Sinners too.
Thank you so much for this, using the ILS has been a struggle and this helped enormously.
Dude!! Great tutorial! Finally I can land my A320! Thanks a lot!
Thanks 👨✈️ captain. I’ve seen other ILS vids and this is up there with the best. Subscribed.
No problem my man! I’m glad I helped out. Thank you so much for the subscription!! ☺️👍
At last a video that tells it the right way plain and clear .Thank you this has got me buzzing at last a fair landing Thank you.
Best Tutorial out there. Thanks.
This is actually a rlly good video tutorial for beginners like myself, you explained what everything is and does really well, great video!! Hopefully you upload other tutorials like this
Yes sir! I am glad to of helped! What else would you like to see?
Amazing tutorial! Thank you so much!
First video I have watched that made this simple enough to understand! so many videos that talk at you like you already have a clue, and most don't especially if they are watching these videos! Drawyah i'm looking at you! 🤣
Great work man
Thank you, I have not seen a tutorial that explained the ILS setup in the FMS so easily.
No problem my man!
THANK YOU SO MUCH! I watched several videos, even from real-world pilots to learn the differences of ILS landing in the new MSFS compared to FSX, but (all due respect) real pilots usually bring us to the forest (I mean, into the sky) and leave us there to dry out (I mean, to get frozen). While THIS IS above EXACTLY what we need. Simple settings for gamers, aviation enthusiasts, only what is really necessary for a successful ILS landing. GREAT WORK, THANK YOU AGAIN! :)))
Hey, thanks for doing that video. Learnt a lot and enjoyed watching it too!
No problem man! Glad you enjoyed! Always looking to help out
Great video, really helpful.
So glad I found this tutorial and the one on auto pilot... after trying out several other tutorials that either went too fast, didn't explain anything, left stuff out, didn't zoom in,... I think I can maybe do this now if I pay close attention... Thanks for some excellent tutorials!!!
what a great video!! easy enough for a rookie like me to understand! :)
i was able to land with ur help, THANKS MAN!😍 it was my first landing😂
Glad I could help!
Fantast tutorial! Best I've seen and very helpful so thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
I love your tutorial videos....very instructive and easy to follow. Thank you
You are so welcome!
It take someone special to explain sophisticated things who doesn't sound like they love to sniff their own farts, thanks for this.
Yes sir! No problem! Although, in this video, I was sniffling a lot 😂
Thanks. This is the best ILS landing tutorial for the A320 that I've seen (and I've watched a lot of them). Also I'm from NC, so I land at KCLT a lot.
Thank you, really nice and useful tutorial
Your videos are really well done and helping me get started and enjoy msfs 2020, thank you!
Thanks man! I’m glad you are enjoying them. Is there anything else you would like to see?
CaptainHorn23 I would love to see some tutorials on how to use the garmin systems in an sr22, or maybe a startup/ils on a citation longitude
@@Rangeofranges Sounds great! Ill get to work!
great tutorial, subscribed
Thanks man! I appreciate it!
Nice video my brother!
Thaks so so much!
brilliant explanation of what i need to do, i struggle with ils at the moment.
Thank you so much for your videos. They have been so very helpful. Finally made my 1st successful ILS landing in the airbus. A few things from your videos I want to touch on. So I hadn't heard of an updated airbus so I looked for it & found & installed it. When I tried to find it in game I could not. But when I started up the regular air bus it was already the updated one. We get the bell chimes when we turn on the seat belt & no smoking. Now have access to the APU(do not know what that is, this is my first flight sim ever) Also the AP2 now works, well stays on when you engage it. I tried it but chickened out once I touched down & didn't seem to start slowing soon enough, could be me as I still really do not know what I'm doing or what is to be expected. Keep the videos coming my friend :-)
Hey man I’m so glad to of helped you out!! Congrats on your first ILS! So it’s funny, I’m actually making a video right now about the new Airbus that was released! It will be publish within the next hour. Keep an eye out! Also, I live stream pretty often, so be on the look out for those and I will be showing full flights with the Airbus and ILS landings and eventually RNAV landings!
thanks man great vid
No problem 👍
On a whole, VERY GOOD video! In a real ILS approach, there are MINIMUM altitudes you can’t descend below, to avoid controlled flight into terrain (you can’t see the ground!). Also, if you are coming in the “wrong” direction, & not on radar vectors, you use a published “procedure turn” to get the aircraft properly aligned with the localizer. You land & take-off INTO the wind, NEVER with a tailwind. If your departure point was in the opposite direction to landing, you have to reverse course through a DME arc or procedure turn. Video was very helpful for flying MS2020; keep more coming!
A far easier tutorial to follow lol.. thanks so much for this
I’m glad it was easy to follow! You’re welcome! Always glad to help out
this tutorial is amazing
Very helpful... Thanks
Thanks for the help! Amazing
You’re welcome! I’m glad to help out!
Thank you for the tutorial. Here are some additions on flying the ILS:
1. Raw Data - If you fly manually and without the Flight Director and just follow the needles it's called a RAW Data approach. This can be quite a challenge. Especially on non-Fly-By-Wire aircraft.
2.
Stabilized Approach - Most airlines want their pilots to be stabilized at 1000 feet above the runway. This simplified means that at 1000' the Landing gear is down, Landing flaps are set and that the speed is within -5 to +20 knots from Vref. If this criterion is not met you have to make a go-around.
3. LOC vs APP - Just arming Approach mode will do the job. However, in the real world, a lot of airlines SOP is to arm the LOC and then arm APP once you have captured the localizer. This is to prevent the aircraft from starting a descent on the glideslope before being established on the localizer.
4.
Intercept speed and altitude - Always try to intercept the glideslope from below. It is possible to capture it from above but it will make it much more difficult to be stabilized that way. Try to intercept the localizer with some flaps out and at a reduced speed. Flying too fast will make it difficult for even the autopilot to capture the localizer. For example Flaps 5 and speed 180 in a medium-size jet.
Why have I learned more from this video then I have from my entire school year! (As of now my last day of school is tomorrow)
thanks a lot great video
thx :). this was really helpful for me as i am used to flying a 737 in flight sim and now having to switch over to a320.
So Nice and love it
Great stuff !
Thanks my man!!
AP1 sets the settings for the captain side. AP2 uses the setting for the copilot side. you should also be programming in the wind and wind direction into the FMC when the tower gives you that information on your final.
Perfect tutorial
Glad to of helped my man!
Well this is nicely explained, cheers man! Just did my first flight in the 320 and it's quiete different from the CJ4 I've been using most of the time til now.
Thanks man! I tried to make it easy enough to follow along too! Glad to of helped.
Autopilot 2 is currently not working, it's a bug at the moment. Great video, but man, can you even fly with those fps being so low. Anyways nice video. Thanks for that. You just forgot to tune ATIS before approach to get wind info and other info for fms to add it into arrival page
Ahh alright I figured it was a bug. Actually, my FPS was around 70 with a few stutters. For some reason on the outside shots, OBS did not capture at the real FPS. It was smooth as butter throughout the entire time I filmed this which is strange xD. Yeah usually I would tune the ATIS but wanted to keep this tutorial pretty simplified.
@@captainhorn23 The hard drive you are storing the video on while recording is too slow for the bandwidth you selected for compression. Try and match the storage media's write speed to your video compression and you shouldn't be having that problem again. Thanks for this awesome instructional, you're one of the people who explained it such a way it's really understandable for the laymen.
I tried to auto land without engaging AP2. PDF switched from "land" to "flare" around 30 feet above the runway all right, but all the plane did when I idled the throttle was doing a nosedive and landed hard. :)
As a flightsim beginner the Airbus 320 neo is my favourite mostly because it has Easy to use and understand the ap feature. It's Easy to plot in the different values. And the ap does exactly what i want it to do. Climb to 30000 feet no problem. With smaller plane ap it's a pain because the ap seems to want to go into a Steep dive and crash the plane. Probably because i havent plotted the values correctly lol.
Yeah small planes can be more difficult than the larger jets in many ways! It could also be a bug you are experiencing
I've actually flown my paramotor down that exact runway in real life :-)
amazing teaching.
Thank you!
Amazing video. More tutorial on navigation and transition please!
Full flights coming soon 😉
Nice!
Thank you very much for this Video. Suscribed...
Greetings from Germany
Thanks man!! Greetings from the USA!
Great work, and for the visitors, let's buy this guy a decent GPU, can we 'patreon' him?
Yes sir! I have a Patreon here!: www.patreon.com/captainhorn23
When you are traveling in an airplane and just see the cockpit as you go into the airplane. I usually get really fascinated by all the buttons. It seems like its a lot more straight forward then I thougth xD
Yep! It doesn’t take too long to understand what the buttons do and then it seems pretty simple after that!
Wonderful ❤
Thank you!!! ❤️
Good job first time landing 👍👍allways casch 😁
Thanks a lot for MCDU setup, I was flying in circles above airport, trying to figure out how to get waypoints added
No problem man! I am glad to of helped you out!
Thanks for the video. Very helpful. What I haven't found and would love to find is a video on how to update the approach waypoint (not sure the correct terminology) based on what the in-sim ATC tells you to use. For instance, if it tells you to to use a specific approach, I haven't figured out how to update the FMC to add that to the navigation waypoints.
No problem man glad I could help! You can the approach by simply modifying your flight plan and going to the APP/DEP button and selecting a new approach form there. Also, the ATC in the sim is a joke, so I would just turn it off like I did 😔
Dude, you can raise your seat in cockpit using up arrow. You can't land like this when you don't see a runway :)
Yeah lol. I wasn’t thinking at the time. A simple press of the space bar also raises you
thank you
Thanks for this great Tutorial! One of the best on UA-cam ;) One question: Why was the Course so important? Did I missed where you typed it in? Or what is it for?
No problem! Thanks for your kind words! The course is automatically set. The course is important because if the course is wrong, the localizer will be way off and you will end up landing in a taxi way lol
Maybe works at CAT III category in auto land. Anyways, great video! :)
Thanks i buttered for the first tike
nice video!!! it really helped me!
Im glad my man!
@@captainhorn23 hey man, how do i "delete" one airway from my flight computer?? Because when I select the runway that i'm going to land, my plane just turn around just to get pass a airway that was way behind me
Press the clear button or, “CLR” and it should pop up in the scratch pad, then just clock the button beside the waypoint you want to remove
@@captainhorn23 nice man! I'll try it out, thanks!!
@@captainhorn23 you have a video that can help me? I'm having difficulty to clear
Good job! AP 2 not working with 1 is a known bug lets hope it gets fixed in the upcoming update on the 27th. I have had it flare by itself a number of times when i left it on but not all the time
I’m here watching in Sanford, NC. I’ve been trying to land the A320 in Raleigh, NC. I’m trying improve my approach landings.
U are the best
Well, I’m glad to hear that!
Nice video, I will give it a try. Have you tested leaving the Autopilot 2 on to see what happens?
I have not tested that yet! Usually both of them stay lit up for the auto-land. I will have to try it!
Great tutorial. Can you do an ils tutorial for the smaller planes as well?
Keep a look out on my channel tomorrow 😉 G1000 ILS/Autopilot coming!
@CaptainHorn23 To reverse thrust, press and mantain F2 😉. Thanks for the video
Yeah I finally set up a reverse thrust key lol. No problem man! Glad to of helped out!
A bold suggestion, but I think if you made this for the 747 that would be great as wel!
You got it!
Awesome video man! Thanks for the tutorial! I've been scratching my head trying to figure this out. Also, idk if anyone else has had this issue, but my last flight in the a320, some things in the cockpit would randomly turn on or off. Lights, gear, instrument power.. kinda annoying. Lol
No problem man! Glad to help out! Yeah there are a lot of issues with the Airbus right now since the most recent update
Is the things like engine and fuel pages go black and like altitude and speed thing (pfd) go black?
@@cocoabean5917 the pfd goes black. Have to turn it back on several times lol
G-LOC TV yea i usually have to increase brightness
G-LOC TV would you mind telling me how to turn it on im getting the same problem know
Good video, you did a good job going into detail explaining what each of the buttons letters mean and what functions they performed.
You need to do a video on exactly what you do from the flight plan to the landing
Very helpful! Am a complete noob at this game, but just figured out how to keep the plane on the pink path haha. Just cant figure out how to direct it to go behind the runway and not navigate to literally over the airport.
Keep at it man! You will learn! I will be doing full flight videos here soon, and even live streams so be sure to be there and learn some more!
CaptainHorn23 Awesome, have my sub and bell.
@@captainhorn23 request tutorial landing with U pattern please, i fly with easy mode and show entry pattern, its so hard to keep the altitude and speed when flaps full, sometime get so fast to keep altitude high
Pri Rezki Destrianto sounds good! So you want like taking off in the Airbus a320 and a pattern and then an ILS?
@@captainhorn23 yes, thx
Hi, fantastic tutorial! May I know why you didn’t use the LOC button and what it does?
Reverse thrusters is bound to the same key as lowering the thrusters (default keybind is F2)
Yeah I bound it finally lol. I bound it to shift + / then just full throttle and the engines reverse
I have been gradually learning from watching various tutorials how to fly the A320, and I feel that I'm almost at the point where I know everything I need to know to successfully start-up, taxi, take off, fly a route and land. I did learn one new thing from watching this video, and is something that I have not seen covered yet, is the RAD NAV page, and checking to see that you have your NAV 1 radio set to an active ILS. Fantastic tutorial, and thanks for sharing.
Thanks man!! So glad I could help!
Hey, what a great landing! How did you get the waypoints to appear on the map?
I entered an approach in the mcdu!
good vid. I'd like to know how to fly direct and then set up for an ILS landing. Is it possible to add a waypoint to blank flight plan?
Yes sir it is! You can enter a STAR to get a bunch of waypoints, or you can manually enter them in the FLT PLN page
I finnaly can butter and i know how to ILS a landing woooooo you dont know how much i thank you
Heck yeah my man! Glad I helped out!
More tutorial pls :)
What would you like to see next?
awesome work! appreciate it.
I am new to MSFS2020 and have very little to no knowledge about aviation.!
Can u guide me please.!
Thnx
F2 is usually for reverse my friend..😉😉..other than that, nice video...very calm and clear voice...I like...👍👍the AP2 thing is just a bug wich will hopefully be solved soon...Do you ever use the LOC or do you just go straight to APPR???
Yes I have finally bound a key for reversing engines lol. Thanks so much! I hope they fix the AP2 because I find auto-lands to be very satisfying lol. I usually always use APPR, but sometimes I will use LOC when the glideslope is still pretty far out.
Nice tutorial, detailed yet you don't take 40min-1h
Yes sir! That’s my biggest pet peeve and I strive to make them short as possible
Even though this tutorial is not a 'study level' guide, you speak nice and clearly and that's a huge help compared with the sim pilots from England who have the heavy brogue which makes listening problematic. Are you flying the default A320 or the "FlyByWire A320neo"? Just curious.
Thanks mate at last a ILS landing tutorial I can understand !!! -great job thankyou for your time and effort
pretty good, but you wanna usually hit LOC to capture the localizer first then once you are closer to the glideslope then engage your APPR. That keeps the aircraft from veering left and right... Aside from that, great job! (To add... CAT III Dual isn't functional in this sim, but autoland does work)
Ahh thanks for letting me know! Yeah I figured the CAT III was not simulated (maybe in the future?). I will have to try the auto-land function. I assume you turn on AP 2 even though AP 1 gets turned off?
@@captainhorn23 V1SIMULATIONS did a video on it. As long as you have all of your landing data in the box, just keep AP1 on with APPR active and it should autoland although it will disconnect the moment you touch down..
