@@d.l.4873 Didn't you watch the video? The scam was very smart move and almost no one could've guessed it was a scam until the forum part where they ask personal questions, and by then you'd have deleted your channel.
@Dokki Exploits Jim Browning's video, not cr1t1kal's, he says the ploy was to have the creators transfer their accounts to the scammer, therefore making the scammer gain revenue. Please watch it.
@Dokki Exploits the goal of the scam was for the scammer to steal his channel what benefits would having a random popular youtubers channel get deleted for no reason get you
Only thing makes sense. My 5 year old nephew who would pick up a random big gulp in middle of the parking lot and drink it. Wouldn't of fallen for this scam. Its almost like jim thinks nothing can scam him and his hubris lead to him falling for an very very obvious scam.
I love how in Jim's video, he tries to turn the scammer's life around by telling him to make his own YT channel and make "good content". That's a sign of mercy from Jim and that's rare.
@@Fillthrill the way people incessantly talk about Charlie like he’s a god because ‘that’s the joke’ is pushing me away from this channel fast, not to mention Charlie not moderating the comments at all leading to the jacksepticeye shit and constant links
It's like pummeling Wolverine in this case cuz that dude is gonna have his ass handed back to him by Jim himself I can already hear "hello my name is Jim Browning, it seems like you tricked me weeks ago"
I feel like the scammers targeted Jim Browning specifically so that he couldn't tell people about the scam and call the scammers out. It didn't work because Jim Browning has intelligence that elevates him as someone who is beyond a human being.
That makes no sense considering he of course would tell people and DID tell people about this particular phishing scam. It’s because he had a large amount of subscribers. It was a wide net on this one.
I feel like that it is partially Google's fault for allowing emails to even be sent from an @google domain. Also, they could add a verification badge in Gmail (That is only visible in the client and is a unique image outside of the message box (So it can't be perfectly replicated as it is part of the Gmail client itself) that says something like "Verified Google Sender" or "Verified UA-cam Support".
Google phones do this actually. When you get an SMS message for verification on Google, the text will have the Google logo and there will be a banner that says "This is a verified Google number" or something along those lines.
There won't be any point in this, since (if I heard the correctly) the scammer used an actual google email, therefore it would still have the "Verified Google Sender". Best option would be to increase the protection of the email's passwords and such things, that's the easiest way.
I’m just happy Jim is receiving this amount of acknowledgment. Been following his videos for a good while and the growth he’s had in subscribers reflects directly to his motivation. Don’t get me wrong he’s got some gems from the past but his newer videos are anything but lacking. Only patron I have, I just hope he has a long happy career on the internet. Or happy retirement after the scam callers are all gone 😎
Have you watched Kitboga? He doesn't take them down, he just wastes their time using fake bank accounts, websites, google card #s, voice changers, etc. Very entertaining.

I can imagine people falling for this, but it’s just so wild. UA-cam is almost nonexistent when it comes to helping and protecting their content creators, so just getting an email from them that isn’t about copyright is in the realm of fantasy.
This person is trying to gain subs from this. ua-cam.com/channels/aRJYdeZwOLX0aDfuQ7gxTQ.htmldiscussion Its a fake channel that posted low quality sonic memes until the channel got deleted Trying to get as much notability on this as possible so they dont get away with it, they've went from 50 something subs to 900 at the time of posting this.
That probably adds to the scam, if it's THAT serious that UA-cam is emailing you directly, it sorta magnifies that sense of urgency, especially if it affects your income.
To be fair, the fake problem was that the creators qere getting double the money they should and youtube would care if they are losing money in any way
I am super paranoid, never fell for any scams, I've had literal thousands of attempts on me on various accounts throughout the platforms. The trick is to pay attention to the details of the scam, like is the link wrong? why do they need a password if they can manage accounts on their own accord? why are they pulling you to discord or something to talk about the situation? and for an example purpose: why has the account supposedly been reported for say, and alternate account when you never made one? (some scams rely on timing for it to be convincing, because if the claim was just out of nowhere with nothing to go off of, it can be picked apart easily) That's what I normally use when I see scams or seemingly convincing ones like what happened to Jim Browning. I think the most important thing is to NEVER share your password, even if it's a convincing enough scam. Two-Factor Authentication is also a good step to a secure account.
These people got Jim Browning and almost got both Mark Rober and Mudahar. At this point, it feels like they were trying to go for larger tech UA-camrs to see how well the scam worked
UA-cam sends me emails all the time.. Every copyright claim gets send to my email. And that thing with stupid royalty taxes for creators outside US. They been spamming me to get it fixed for obvious reasons and then they send out those email newsletters from time to time. Other than that I agree, never received a personal letter from them. They could care less about the individual creator.
oh.. and that's while having been making videos on here since 2006 with two different accounts. But who wouldn't be happy to finally get some acknowledgement from UA-cam?
Guarantee it wasn't just one of them that worked on going after him. Or it was some genius who wouldn't normally participate in this behavior but was in desperate need of some validation because without their cookies their just a monster!!!
I believe youtube or google need something that finds where the scammers are then tells all the fans where they live, that would stop this real quick when the obsessed fans find them. lol
Did not know The Spiffing Brit got affected by this too, the dude really targeted the two people who are known for exposing scams/exploiting - like it's a vendetta or something.
Bells would've been ringing at "delete your channel" for me. Like Charlie said they won't normally contact you, which I would have fell for, let alone ask you to delete your channel. I would've made them delete it if they wanted it gone that bad.
I love how youtube support is so useless that you really can't expect them to message anything to you unless it's about someone filing a DMCA notice to your video.
You need your password to log into the service, of course, but official service representatives or help desk workers should never be asking for your password. Heck, unless you need to log in, you should never be asked to enter your password by anything.
When charlie started talking about one of the smartest anti-scammer people on youtube got scammed, i thought he was being ironic and the actual vid was to fish for his subs believing it, but then i got surprosed that it actually happened, goes to show that no one can be TOO safe on the internet
At least it was somebody extremely familiar with scams and with a decent chance of actually getting Google to help him who was one of the first prominent channels targeted. If it was anybody else, it's likely this would run much more rampant.

That's a great idea with 1 major flaw. UA-cam/Google doesn't care enough to do that 😂
There won't be any point in this, since (if I heard the correctly) the scammer used an actual google email, therefore it would still have the "Verified Google Sender".
Best option would be to increase the protection of the email's passwords and such things, that's the easiest way.
It's typical spoofing.
Google can't do anything about it sadly. Some scammer send an email from seemingly my own email address.
