I think the fact that virtual casinos usually treat your money as "just numbers" intentionally makes people a bit numb to the fact they are loosing a lot of money, shrugging it off telling you that you might've lost some money but that you can make more if you stay in. It is for the absolute worst of the worst of people who have the attention span of 2 seconds and it definitely rubbed me the wrong way on how annoying all of that was. It is definitely a way to hide how boring and non interesting you are, to have to do that to have the audience attention for a bit longer. Masters of YT like Charlie can have an interesting video that I watch from start to finish WITH a monotone voice and NO cuts.
For how frequent scams are, in 2005 I was in a computer security intro class. The professor showed us an article on internet scams, with a pie chart from FBI data of scam categories (like social engineering, breaking into insecure servers, etc). A 2% slice was devoted specifically for the Nigerian prince scam. Everything else were broad categories of stuff. Tells you how effective that scam actually was.
Are we certain he didn't lie about gambling and just hide the money in offshore accounts? This isn't the first time I have heard the " I lost all our money gambling" story. He would have to provide receipts for it to make any sort of sense at all. There was even a story about a husband that caught his wife cheating and used gambling as a front to hide his money discrepancies when he had actually hid the money in accounts elsewhere, then told his wife he lost everything gambling so she divorced him, and he kept all his "gambling losses"
Gambling addictions are incredibly common. 464 million people worldwide suffer from gambling addictions. Like Charlie said, he is still at fault for gambling away all their money, and his addiction does not make this okay, but I really do think he isn’t lying about the gambling problems. Just because some lie about gambling addictions doesn’t mean everyone is, but again, that doesn’t make this situation okay.
It’s actually a tax and irs loophole as casino earning and losses are non taxable and require no paper trail so being in some offshore account isn’t that far fetched
Gambling addiction is one of the toughest for sure. Maybe doesn't ruin your health directly but I know few gamblers before and after addiction and I have to say that when the urge is on, these people are becoming something different. It's scary since they are sober but their decisions are completely not.

I did a dissertation on gambling addiction and it seriously can be one of the most crippling and wide-reaching addictions, I think a lot of people don’t realise just how bad it can get
i think its a legit addiction for some ppl. pretty much just another form of a gambling addiction. with each new scam they think "maybe THIS will be the one that makes me rich!" and when it doesnt work they just move onto the next scam, and repeat.
Honestly yeah that's probably true. Like, scams target people who are too dumb to avoid them, see all the badly spelled scam emails from Nigerian Princes, and then after the first scam that lost them all their savings, they're also desperate. Dumb and desperate is not a good combo. The people who get scammed a second or third time are the ones that didn't learn their lesson. And uh, they're probably not super likely to ever learn that lesson either.
Being on the internet since I was a kid has made me like scam immune. I learned about getting scammed as a 10 year old and now I just know when something doesn’t smell right.
Gambling addiction is very real and its scary. Financially its worse than any drug you could be addicted to. If he truly gets help and goes through the process at some point he will make amends with the victims the best he can.
Which he does, and rightfully so, with a statement of action to help him recover. Only a matter of time before there's something made public to tell those affected that there's a plan of action on making right the wrong committed. Some props for owning up to it at least.
Wrong mindset. You should feel sorry for the victims and feel spite for the scammer. Giving a scammer empathy gives them the green light to keep scamming. "Ah, yeah, I'm a tortured soul and I'm getting help ... But I need your money to help me get there."
1 twitlonger is better than anything Logan has put out. Even if it is all his fault he’s not trying to absolve himself of blame. Not even trying to demonize the addiction and blame it on that. Overall good statement especially if he can come up with something to help the victims.
For a bit of extra context: this project (Gridcraft) that he scammed people's money out of was originally gonna be a Minecraft server with NFTs and Blockchain garbage but he had to shut it down because Minecraft made a policy against NFTs and crypto in game so in order to not lose the hope (and money) of their supporters, which there was a fair bit of, they said they're making a standalone game, and like every other crypto game, all that came from it was just the concept of a game and never an actual playable game

I think gambling addictions are something that arent talked about enough. If you go on certain platforms people who have them and want to come out about having one get clowed on by comments saying "keep going you're going to hit it big" and such. We need to take them more serious because many times they can end in very severe mental and physical harm.

Yes, the guy has a gambling addiction and definitely should seek help, but that doesn't excuse him from doing these horrible things to the people that followed him on social media. What about those that got scammed? Will he ever give back the money he stole? Not likely

@BriSmiles no, but it was his money to use and invest once the investor handed him the money. Just like in this situation. If you hand a homeless person $20 and say, get yourself a nice meal, yet they go and buy alcohol, did they steal your $20? No.

I think the fact that virtual casinos usually treat your money as "just numbers" intentionally makes people a bit numb to the fact they are loosing a lot of money, shrugging it off telling you that you might've lost some money but that you can make more if you stay in.
Meanwhile some physical casinos handle the chip system or actual cash making people a bit more careful about what they are loosing since it's right there
I love the irony of an ad for a local casino playing in the middle of this video. In particular, it started immediately after you read out the gambling apology.

I mean good for him tbh
@@Hyde472 True. I would go as far as to say that it was a bold and genius move that paid off.

It all goes back to greed, the age old “get rich quick” scheme.
It pretty much is gambling
i think its a legit addiction for some ppl. pretty much just another form of a gambling addiction. with each new scam they think "maybe THIS will be the one that makes me rich!" and when it doesnt work they just move onto the next scam, and repeat.
its a gambling addiction except there is absolutely no chance for a ROI
Honestly yeah that's probably true.
Like, scams target people who are too dumb to avoid them, see all the badly spelled scam emails from Nigerian Princes, and then after the first scam that lost them all their savings, they're also desperate. Dumb and desperate is not a good combo.
The people who get scammed a second or third time are the ones that didn't learn their lesson. And uh, they're probably not super likely to ever learn that lesson either.
The most shocking thing to me is that there seems to be an apology that's actually an apology.
As much as I feel sorry for the guy, he has no one to blame but himself
