Seneca - Moral Letters - 24: On Despising Death

The Moral Letter to Lucilius are a collection of 124 letters which were written by Seneca the Younger at the end of his life, during his retirement, and written after he had worked for the Emperor Nero for fifteen years. (These Moral Letters are the same letters which Tim Ferriss promotes in the Tao of Seneca)

Thank you. Seneca is right...there are things far worse than death...yet we all fear death..and try to run from it...all this for this one more day...filled with fates worse than death. Foolish or brave? I dont know. Sometimes...I am inclined to call it the courage of the fool...

I dont think thats his point at all actually.. Hes saying that no evil is worse thab death.. and death is nothing to fear, so theres nothing to fear at all. The torture part was saying that you shouldnt consider its presentation but what it is at bottom.. sense impression, and anticipation of death, these tortures are theatrics which are unmasked as one of 2 things:death or pain of somw sort... He wasnt saying there are other worse things we should fear .. That goes against everything he said LOL.. Just saying! No hate intended

He would probably consider that attitude base and cowardly.. The use of a greater fear to try to relieve yourself of another fear 😂
