    The penultimate (second last) stride is the MONEY MAKER when it comes to the jump. This stride is responsible for 2 main components:
    1) Carrying speed into take-off
    2) Lowering the hips slightly for take-off
    Drill #1 - Penultimate Bounds - Allows for a higher repetition of this stride to solidify neurological responsiveness.
    Drill #2 - Penultimate Depth Jumps - introduces additional loading into the plant and take-off portions of the jump.
    Both drills can be used as part of a training complex OR on a day allocated for jump technique.

    Tyler Ray is largely considered one of the world leaders in jump training and technique. Tyler travels around the world lecturing and coaching athletes and coaches, more commonly in the world of jump technique. A 14-yr veteran of the Strength and Conditioning industry, Tyler manages an Athlete Academy out of Sweat Fitness and Performance in Tecumseh, Ontario, Canada. Tyler is a former professional dunker and track athlete who possessed a 48" vertical at the peak of his career.
