Thank you for this! Well summarized. I bought tower of dawn in 2017 and just finished it today after a long hiatus. I knew that with tower of dawn, I wouldn’t have so many people to try and remember. But today I started on kingdom of ash and by page 18 I was completely lost lol. I still don’t remember half of these people but you definitely helped spark my memory of what’s going on in the world at this point in the story.

Lovely review! But one thing: you said that Sand + Fire = glass and it wasn't mentioned.. But it was. You should read it again if you don't believe but it was mentioned :)
I don't think of Elide as Bella Swan. Elide is much better, rather than mope over her weaknesses she uses her cunningness, intellect and quick thinking.
Agreed, I feel like Elide is very smart and brave, but for her own safety she made herself appear weak and and unimportant as to not draw attention to herself since her uncle was there, and especially since she had witch blood and she didn’t know that her uncle knew. Plus she was playing the long game at Morath and planning to escape, relying on the fact that no one paid her any attention. When she got to the point that she was not submitting to her uncle anymore is when she could show her true self.
