I know Tower of Dawn is seen as a side story in the series, but I actually really recommend it. I was convinced I would hate it when it came out, but it actually ended being one of my favorites in the series. I thought Chaol's character arc was really well done, and the disability rep felt genuine and realistic (that being said, I'm not disabled so I can't speak from personal experience). I felt that my reading experience of KoA was better because I read it.
same for me! and there's also a ton of super important information for Kingdom of Ash and the main plot of throne of glass overall!
I loved Chaol so much and I was devastated with what was done to his character in Queen of Shadows. I never continued the series.
I mostly agree. I enjoyed ToD and there's some very vital information revealed in that book. I didn't care for Nesryn's chapters, but I do like Sartaq and the Ruk riders so at least her chapters had some of that. I found the Khagan's family to be interesting as well, particularly Hasar and Sartaq. Kashin was too one dimensional for me to be invested in and Duva was hardly in it until the end, and even then it wasn't really her.

I am SO excited to see you read Kingdom of Ash. It’s been almost 2 years since I read it, but I still remember every emotion. It was an absolutely wild and amazing ride. One of the best reading experiences of a fantasy novel I’ve ever had.
I hated TOD so much I put the whole series down for 8 months in first read 😂 If ended up being fine in the end but man I was brutally disappointed when I found out.

When I read the series the first time, I read it begrudgingly, but I actually enjoyed it the second time I read through the series; it's super different from the rest of the books and I love the setting of that one
You should've done the tandem read! 😭EOS and TOD are 'meant' to be read together, I just finished reading them both and I FOR SURE would've never finished if I had read Tower of Dawn right after Empire of Storms.
i am very adamantly anti-tandem read or complicated reading order for any book series. hate hate hate it lol. imma read them in series order and that's about it
@@chandlerainsleyit doesn’t really feel like a tandem read though due to the multiple POVs that the books already have. I really enjoyed reading it at the same time. I would read 10 chapters each until TOD mentions something that I didn’t get to in EOS yet so I would read EOS until I got to that point. It felt like I was reading one big book and not two.
I’m so tempted to skip tower of dawn bc I just sobbed violently at the end of empire of storms and I absolutely need to know what happens with Rowan “where is my wife” Whitethorn

Still hurt by how SJM did dirty to Chaol's character in Queen of Shadows.
Aelin and Rowan's relationship felt forced. To me they were more like brother and sister or even close friends.
Sadly I could not continue the series, which was a bummer because this has to be one of the best series I have read. It was well thought out and I loved how the world building was coming together.
I did not wholly enjoy Towner of dawn but I get why it was apart of the whole story..... Bt kingdom of ash was the shit lol
