    I have the P365 and P365XL with Wilson XL grips on both. I agree with you that the extra $600 for the comp version is not worth the money for just a good looking pistol. Invest the money on ammo as I did and shoot the crap out of them to overcome the snappy issues and your good to go. Thanks for sharing!

    Bought one for my wife for Mother’s Day. Upgraded her from the sig p238 I bought her years back. Took her to the range and all her shots landed on target with her first mag. Her recoil mitigation was spot on with the built in comp. I’m a Walther fan boy. My first edc was the Walther p5 compact which I still own. After that I graduated to the first gen pdp m1 then what I was currently carrying the pdp m2. Loved everything about that pistol with the exception of mag capacity. After I shot her spectre comp I went and got one for myself as well. Love everything about the pistol except the spongy trigger when compared to the Walther. The sig is a surprisingly great little package.

    Another relatively big difference between the guns is the optics cut. The new Spectre Comp does not need to remove the rear sights to use a red dot which can allow for co-witnessing. Everyone is different, but it was the #1 selling point for me

      Excellent point! Like you said, everyone is different for sure. Great gun, just a huge gap in price.

    • @Javservice
      @Javservice 2 роки тому +5

      Not that you remove the rear sights very day to replace for a red dot…😂😂😂😂brother reality is that you paid another $600 just for a name and a shorter barrel… they gotta ya.. Proven America buys what ever crap they throw at them. Every one knows there NOT 30% reduction in anything and even less in recoil. By the way in own a P365 XL and wouldn’t change it for anything in the world unless they come up with a better gun..

In Cuba to have even a single dollar is a privilege. And I awry doubt they would spend it on a gun not that they can or wish they could so they can get rid of the regime that oppressed them. One thing I find interesting is that you and Sig say that the XL and Spectra Comp both weigh the same. This is strange since the dimensions are the same, but the Spectra has .6" less barrel, and the slide has lighting cuts and compensator cuts all of which should reduce the overall mass.

    • @WaltherLover
      @WaltherLover  2 роки тому +2

      I thought that was strange as well. I weighed the guns separately and came up with a similar result. I think the extra weight in the Comp comes from the grip module. Thanks for checking us out!

    I bought a spectre comp yesterday, a bday gift to myself. Got a deal from my friend also. If you are looking to get a comp version of a 365, it’s actually not bad since I also build out my original 365, with Zev slide, PMM micro comp barrel set, Wilson grip module… it ended up a bit over what the spectre comp cost…

    • @joeflowers9084
      @joeflowers9084 2 роки тому

      Yep. Once you mill and re-coat a 365 slide to have rear irons AND buy the PMM kit, you're getting super close to the SC price...add a custom grip module, and you're there. The good thing about the ZEV slide option is you can sell your old slide and recoup some of that money...so maybe still save a few hundred.

    Freeze frame at 8:13 into the video. By looking at both targets simultaneously, it's pretty clear you were more accurate using the SIG Spectre Comp as the standard P365XL. Assuming the fired ammunition was the same, I'd say the SIG Comp is certainly adding to accuracy. I've shot both models and the Spectre "compensated" version of the P365XL, to me, seems significantly "lighter" when firing, using my preferred Federal 124gr. HST ammunition. Just my opinion.

  • @jackmann7054
    @jackmann7054 7 місяців тому

    Like the honest evaluation. I put an XL slide on my standard to help with rapid fire recovery but like the small grip for ccw. Not sure I want to spend another $500 for the comp slide (as of Feb 24) so like your shooter viewpoint. The slide and longer barrel of the XL is better than the standard so happy enough. Brownells had a great deal on the optic ready XL slide and barrel combo so cheap option.

    Good vid. Just one note about it overall - I'd worry less about showing viewers a clear gun. Now for the comparison I've noticed that the grip probably does more work than the slide cuts. I'd go for the regular XL all day and put the other money toward a custom slide, other parts, or just ammo :)

    I love the honesty of this. I have a regular 365, which I haven't had a single problem with. I would like a longer barrel in a carry gun, though. I was looking at the XL, but I don't want the extra grip length. I was looking at putting an XL slide and barrel on mine, but price is almost equal to another gun. I saw this offering and thought, sell the 365 and my 938 and get this. Now, I'll just keep what I have. I love my 938, and I like having the p365 option with a 15 rounds backup.

    I have the standard P365XL and been carrying it for 2 years. I love it for a carry gun. I recently put the Wilson Combat grip module on my P365XL and its fantastic. I agree, I would not spend the extra money on the Spectre comp. To me is just a marketing selling point of we have this sweet custom shop sales tactics. Way over priced in my opinion. I''d rather save of a ton of money and go to Wilson Combat for their custom EDC guns. I've be willing to bet Wilson Combat will be coming our with their Custom P365 and I'd buy that first because Wilson Combat's P320's are roughly 1200-1500.

My usual carry ammo is HST 124, but I'm going to move to the 124+P just to tame the gun and make it shoot softer than it does with regular 124...or I may just stick with that old Federal HP stuff.

    Well, I’ve watched at least 8 videos on this gun and every single one except this one swears the comp is noticeable and worthwhile. I doubt they are all shills. I’m waiting until Sig or an aftermarket company introduces the comp’d slide for $399 or less and I’ll put one on my 365.. I’m sure aftermarket companies are madly programming their CNC machines right now.

      It’s a cash grab from Sig don’t give in. It’s cheaper to buy a 365XL and purchase a threaded barrel and thread on a compensator. And if you have a suppressor, you also have to option to thread that on. Don’t believe Sigs snake oil marketing. But if I were a Sig shareholder I would absolutely tell you to go buy it haha. I just bought one today for 1,100.00 No Tax Free shipping + 25.00 FFL fee. I found it at Kentucky gun company. I was told it was their last one, & were probably not going to get more. To me it is a good price due to the modularity. The Grip module= 100.00, the barrel 250.00 & maybe the upgrade trigger 100.00- The slide I can put anywhere. In parts alone I think I came out well. I guess I will see. I have the Sig P365X and the P365 W/ Wilson combat grips. I can do many things and worth it to me. I hope I do not regret it. If I was to look at 500.00 plus tax and no ability to swap around no. A slide like this has to be worth 400.00, Just a guess. What do you think-God bless-Shawn.

    If you purchased a Sig XL (500-600) and bought a Gold Tin barrel and trigger you’re gonna spend 200-250. Magwell another 30-40. Custom cuts in slide another 100-150. Compensator another 200.

    I just got the SC, l already had the XL, I am still wondering why I did it as I agree with you, kind of made me wish I did not bought the XL first but in my case I am short with small hands they both feel great the SC feels better of course, I am not very happy what sig charges for the 3 mods to the XL, the color of barrel and trigger is irrelevant, claimed to be coated better but truth is after shooting it some it shows the wear so I do not see anything special there; the difference in color does not attracts me nor it bothers me, once I shoot both side by side I would guess would have a better informed opinion if I really threw away either $1200 or $700 that I paid for the XL first few months back. When we like firearms it is difficult to objectively talk about budget; it is what it is and upgrades are costly just because we do not have any control on the prices so we either pay it or we don't. I believe the XL to be a great gun but them they came and made it better performance with the couple mods then someone in some office which makes more than me said ok, if they want this one pay us! and that's it. Ok, I bit the hype and paid the high price, if it was the right or wrong choice only time will tell once I test them both extensively.

      Hey Rody, I have owned my XL for almost 4 years. Shot and trained with it for 7k rounds. Fabulous. In a recent training, the trigger spring got torn and I have to carry a different EDC while waiting for the new spring. I’m thinking to get the SC. Have you had a chance to compare these two? I would like to know your thoughts before pressing the submit order button. The current price difference between XL & SC is around $400.

    • @fireyourrocketts
      @fireyourrocketts Рік тому

      @@evanwow If you can get the SC you wont regret it, it shoots flatter, it is a small difference but you will notice. I shoot well with the XL because it fits me like a glove but then shoot even better with the SC, since I just bought the XL first and I do not really like selling firearms it will be there forever, it would have been great if I did not get it and went just for the SC, just like once I had the XL, not really need for the P365, or the Hellcat which I was considering too, I know folks like to collect all models and that is fine too but if a firearm is modular for us poor mortals would be better to just get the best they got out at the end of the experiment; it is the best way to save because once you shoot the SC you probably would not want to touch the XL again; then those $700+ in my case becomes an opss! nothing but great things to say about the SC, fitted with the Holosun HE507K red dot it will be a while before another EDC takes its place. I only alternate it with a Glock42 which I love because it is so small but between the 2 there is not really comparison; the SC wins easily. Once you get it and shoot it let me know what you think; I known some people who don't like it much but my opinion is what is not to like?!

    My understanding is the comp helps more with follow up shots…if you’re going…tap…tap…tap…it’s not going to do much….you’ll see it more if you’re shooting more competition style…tap tap…tap tap tap…is it as good as a barrel mount comp as far as recoil no…is it better then an xl…yes…30% better…doubtful…the other benefits of the slide comp over the barrel is it’s not picky with ammo, it won’t come loose and you don’t have to disassemble it every time you clean it. Does that make it worth $600…if you have it and you like the gun…why not….throw an Icarus grip module and a DPM recoil spring and you’ll have the most controllable micro 9 money can buy

    The "challenge coin" looks like a nice $600 card protector for a poker game. I coulda bought the Spectre Comp but went with the regular XL. Just seemed like too much more for an incremental benefit at best. But don't you lose velocity with the shorter barrel? Hickock45 says so on his channel.

    Better question to ask is which ammo were you shooting?
    if you're shooting 115gr plinking ammo, are you going to notice the difference? Difference noted by few others was with hotter ammo. I've seen videos where they say they didn't notice the difference but their "slomo" seems to show some reduction and quicker return to zero

    I have a P365XL. It is the *perfect* carry gun for me, as if it were custom made for me. For a couple slots machined into the slide, a shorter "bedazzled" P365 barrel (and giving SIG BACK the real XL barrel) and laser stippling that only requires someone wait for the machine to do it for a few minutes, and slightly less muzzle velocity.....no way is the "FANCY NAME" worth an EXTRA $600.

      @@WaltherLover - I believe the 365 series of guns is phenomenal, with the modularity for people to put together the gun that works best for them; grip length, slide/barrel length, combination of components, so thin for a 9mm, etc. For some people the regular P365 is best. Others prefer the longer grip of the X while keeping the shorter slide and barrel. Just so much ability to adjust the various geometries. Now, from a business standpoint, SIG is taking advantage of all possibilities to bring in as much revenue as possible. I don't blame them. I am just not that customer.

    Shorter barrel equals less velocity so decreased terminal ballistics. Directs muzzle flash upward into the shooters line of sight so increased flash blindness in low light conditions. Poor trade off for slightly decreased muzzle flip from a gun that already shoots great.

    I felt like you did until I shot some Federal 115+P+ HP that was softer than range ammo. As was my 124gr HST +P. But when I was just shooting AE124 or S&B 124, I barely noticed any difference (not even as much as I've noticed with a threaded barrel and Griffin Micro Comp). I don't like the gold and the lightening hole, so I'd prefer to pay $100-$400 less without that stuff.
    For the price, it's just REALLY hard to justify it...I personally wanted an XL with an optic AND rear irons, so this was my only option (can't mill one out for irons + optic). But I think you'd be surprised shooting something super-hot through it, when it feels like a powder puff round.

      1) I put WC XL grips on it, which are even better than the laser-stippled SIG OEM spectre grips.

    Question about the grip texture for the standard 365xl So this may sound nasty but I get really bad dry skin and over time due to the nature of the grip texture being a little sharp and aggressive almost sandpaper like its caught a bunch of my dead skin onto the texture and I cant clean it off. If I try wiping it down with a microfiber towel nothing happens, I use a regular paper towel then small chunks of the paper towel fall out into the texture as well, I tried using just scrubbing and light water and that was no use, I even got some sticky putty to try and get those pieces out but theres no result. At the end it sounds nasty but I just have dead skin built up on the grip to the point where the grip almost looks light gray instead of black on one side. Does anybody have any advice or ideas I can use to try and clean it for getting it to look black and normal again?

    Love this review! PSA has the P365XL Spectre (upgraded grip but no comp) on clearance for $799 right now -- do you think this is worth scooping, or should I pony up the extra $300 to get the comp model?
    Also, as a Shield 2.0 carrier, debating if I should ditch the idea and just get a Shield Plus Performance Center to stay with all my current holsters.

      Thanks man, enjoyed this one! I LOVE the Spectre for $799! Joked about that with a friend just the other day. Personally that would be my choice over the Comp. I know there are people that love the Comp but I still struggle with the price difference.
      Though the Shields are very good, I personally prefer the Sigs shootability. Hope this helps!

    If you want to see if it makes a difference or not, why didn’t you at least shoot a Bill Drill? You talk about competition shooting, have an IDPA target in the background, but didn’t try shooting it on a shot timer? Doesn’t really make sense. Pretty easy solution to measure performance difference.

      @WaltherLover  2 роки тому

      Great point Seth! Using timers at my indoor range is tricky so I don’t do it a lot, unless I can catch them at a slow time. I’m going to try and set this up again and see if I can make it happen. Thanks for the feedback!

    with the video, it looks like there is a little more flip in the first two shots with the XL, but your group overall i would say is better with the XL than the Comp. like other have said, the Wilson Combat grip really is the best upgrade grip wise. i loved my Gen 1 Icarus Precision hybrid pro grip with a hogue grip pad on it, but once i put on the Wilson combat and put in a few draw strokes it really proved superior.
    Also i hate challenge coins including my NRAP365xl one, i really wish that fad would go away.

      @@christina5588 I have the older version hybrid xl pro module. Recently I have removed the hogue sleeve and am learning to grip the module in stock configuration. I really like the grip but it can be a challenge with larger hands. Don't know what I was saying before, I meant Holosun 507k not Romeo 5. Duh lol. In comparison to the stock Sig grip the diameter isn't much different but the actual shape is. The Icarus has flatter front and backstraps. Less of a "broomhandle" feel to me.

      Yeah, but (a) you don't get rear irons, and (b) you have to mess with heating up and break through the loctite/rockset, and then using a vice to align everything whenever you want to take your barrel out (which I probably don't need to do as much as I do).
