      @@thomgizziz basically. I could see this being useful in two scenarios:
      1. Asset protection where formal wear is required (or cold weather)
      2. Keeping it in your vehicle with some extra mags/bug out bag in the event you can’t get home to acquire your rifle and only have whatever you’re carrying that day (and full blown s has hit the fan). Essentially worse case scenario that you can’t get home for, but have time to get to your car and get out of town. And assuming you don’t carry a rifle in your vehicle. Super niche.
      This WONT replace a rifle in the slightest, but if you don’t have access to anything else, something like this could pose as a nice addition if you have to go overt.
      Any other ideas?

      I think the better question is why this over a mp5k (clone). The only advantage I see is weight, which I won't deny is a factor for a backpack gun, but every other checkbox (capacity, reliability, accuracy, etc.) seems to go in favor of the k.

      @@just-some-dude availability, price, concealable size, modularity (swap it back to a P320 for CCW), weight, parts, capacity (double the mags in the grip), shootability (easier to fire, change targets, and maneuver). Flux wins hands down and for half the price or less.

    • @just-some-dude
      @just-some-dude Рік тому +9

      @@thunderofgr Availability is a *huge* win for the mp5k clone. That flux raider has been in short supply for the past 2 years. Concealable size appears to be pretty much the same (with the pdw style stock on the mp5k). If a part on the flux raider broke, there is one source. If a part on the mp5k clone broke there is 60 years worth of supply chain built up. Shootability... the fact that you think the flux raider is easier to shoot tells me that you have never shot an mp5k. There is no contest. The roller delayed design of the mp5 is the reason it's been around for 60 years and is still popular. Modularity, sure I'll agree with that. But you can't take that P320 across state lines anymore without notifying the ATF if you SBR it (can't do that after SBR'ing the mp5k either). Capacity I'd grant you, though there are 40 round mags for the mp5k, but if you're keeping it compact you'd want to use the shorter mags. And then there is price. I can get a MKE or Zenith mp5k clone for right around a thousand, with another 200 for a good pdw style stock. Or I can spend 700 on a flux raider with a charging handle, and 600 for a full size P320. I'd call that a draw at absolute best. I don't hate the flux raider. I have looked at it, seriously, and weighed it against the mp5k long before writing this response. I like the concept, but I've never been able to justify the purchase. To be fair, as the owner of a standard size mp5 clone, I've also never been able to justify the purchase of an mp5k. But if I had a true *need* for that form factor, I think I'd likely pick the mp5k.

    I broke down and bought a flux raider after al the hype and I am having the same realization. It's super portable, modular; and capable. It's probably worth noting you're in it $1000 for the chases and the gun, another $200 for charging handle and gas pedal, and another $250 for a threaded barrel and comp.(we opted to have suppressor option to threaded barrel). With an optic you're looking at a $2000+ PCC that really just has unmatched weight to performance. The dedicated chassis vs a "drop in" for a Glock makes the mechanics of it just better. @thomgizziz Рік тому +1

      @josephroach9793 Well that depends, a bunch of them are not (the ones that are tend to be really flimsy like the recover tactical) and they all have folding stocks which makes it much wider and awkwardly shaped. Have you ever tried storing anything with a folding stock? Clearly not. The smaller place you try to put it in the more cumbersome it gets.
      These are the types of guns I like carrying and have focused on the most. I have had a few of the pistol conversion types and then a few PCC PDWs all as small and light as possible and I have tried many many more at the range. If you want as small, full featured and light as possible the raider is about the best that you are going to do for most people right now. If you are willing to compromise on weight then you have some options like the b&t tp9. However, once you start getting up to 5-6 lbs and the guns in the 15"+ over all length then I'd just rather jump up to a SBR or a RCP (rifle caliber pistol).

    I have a Flux Raider SBR and a MPX SBR. I also have pretty extensive experience with a MP5 and a B&T MP9. After shooting these in competition, on the range, and in sim scenarios a few things became apparent. The Flux and the MP9 are very maneuverable but a bit harder to shoot when compared to the other 2. The MPX is by far the easiest to shoot well. The MP5 is a close second, but the manual of arms is ridiculous. I have a pretty difficult Rifle assessment that I’ve shot all these in, and the MPX shines when shooting timed/scored drills.
    The Flux and the MP9 are much more practical. The size and weight are much smaller than the larger SMGs, but the performance far exceeds a pistol. The MPX/MP5 sized guns are basically the same size as a MK18 in 5.56. The size of these small SBRs allow them to be used in situations where rifles are impractical, and you would otherwise only have a pistol. I can make pretty fast hits in the A zone out to 50, and I can make hits on a man-sized target out to around 150 if I can go prone. If you are planning on using one of these in confined spaces or out of a vehicle, I suggest considering the Flux.

    I recently built an awesome 9mm pcc AR platform that is becoming my new favorite gun to shoot simply because of how easy it is to shoot and how damn accurate I’m able to shoot it. I bought a complete 9mm 10.5 inch upper from Faxon firearms and then I put together a aero precision glock mag lower with a sb tactical pdw brace along with a holosun He501ct solar red dot on a mount from scalarworks, swapped out the faxon bolt carrier group for a nickel boron fail zero bcg, and the timney 2 stage trigger. She’s an awesome little pcc for sure and didn’t cost a ton of money to build. I’ve recently installed a lot of those upgrade parts but when I first built it and it had the stock bcg and trigger and if you minus the optic and mount this gun can be had for right around 1000 to 1200 bucks depending on if you get a cheaper brace than the Sb pdw brace for a sba3 or kak brace you can save a few hundred bucks or you can get a complete upper from psa for cheaper if you want and still have a sick little pcc ar9 for much less than most complete guns on the market right now with better parts of your likening

You can also swap the barrel for a homemade 22TCM and now you have "MP7 at home". Except it is more powerful and smaller than an MP7. 3D printing has made it now where you can make a M11 without having to know how to weld or bend sheet metal. @@owensparks5013 the gentleman in France was an ‘asylum’ seeker, the right to bear arms should only be for citizens which could potentially lead to an everyday citizen becoming psychotic and rampaging but less likely than an enraged immigrant legal or not, the point is, even if something like this was available for that idiot, at least the people in the park would have had the right to defend themselves and act accordingly

      @mattashby1391 Thanks for the reply, it's nice to have a well reasoned discussion, as opposed to the usual yt keyboard warrior stuff. 👍
      In the UK, we had two mass shootings. Both, unfortunately, by legally held and registered users. (One user had been reported to the police as unfit to hold the certificate by his own club, but justice moved too slowly.) The first resulted in the smaller magazines route, and the second killed the sport.
      I appreciate it's a totally different scenario in the US, though.
