I been a die hard tool fan since Undertow. Never could afford a show. With everything going on, I most likely won't have that opportunity. I am just thankful for Tool. They are literally a tool for so many different emotions, thoughts, vibes- how to get acquainted with them. Thanks Tool

@@efren3723 Just for 2 tickets to a show back in January (2020) I paid nearly 600 dollars. To me, that's a lot of monety that probably should have gone to bills. Worth it, for me, but it was a long time before I could afford that show.
The shows sell out so quick and the only way to get a good seat is to pay the scalpers. Yes it's expensive. Yes it's broken.

Just to let some of you all know. “Think for yourself and question authority” doesn’t mean think the opposite of everything presented to you and never believe someone in a position of authority. It just means don’t blindly accept everything presented to you as fact and don’t blindly do as you’re told. If someone like a politician says something, you shouldn’t just automatically disregard it cuz they’re an authority, and think the opposite to “think for yourself” . they may be right. They may be wrong. It’s up to you to come to that conclusion. Don’t just go against what authority says just cuz they are in a position of authority. That’s dumb. That’s not what the saying is about. Sometime authority figures are in the right and you should follow them. But you need to be able to think for yourself to tell when they are not in the right. Take in all information given whether it’s from authority or not and analyze it yourself. Never disregard information based on who’s giving it. Use that information to come to the correct conclusion.
Too many people seem to think that you need to reject anything an authority figure tells you and think the opposite to “think for yourself” but really isn’t just about not blindly following.

Yes I agree, in a nutshell, always maintain a skeptical yet open mind. The authorities in our province told us back in March their models suggest they're would be at worst a 15,000 death toll from the virus in our province. It scared the shit out of people who believed it without question. That total today is 10 people. What helped me keep my shit together was my own research and questioning during the initial panic.

I could end there and it would be ok. I wish I could share that experience, this gift was meant only for me...

I’m so grateful to have been listening to Pearl Jam and temple of the dog and Soundgarden, right when Tool Opiate was on cassette. All these years I’ve wished for more into this guys mind. The side projects and book. These insights in these interviews at this age and time, just confirm for me it was worth the waiting on all of it but especially these perspectives. Maybe age and joe Rogan combined helped him to open up more and he sees the importance of how the masses need smarter people to at least give us hope that one day this chaos will be over because brains like this steeped into us. Money does not buy happiness, personal achievement does. He started out just as poor as anybody else in our public school, unless you consider parent teacher wages rich. He found opportunity, and he made it work. Jim was always a "go-getter", and that is what we allow to be beaten out of the rest of us. "Most people" never "lived" a day in their lives. How can they if they assume the role of a victim?

I know you worked so hard. You are blessed. I love all you do.. I am a farmer as well, just not as successful on other sides, that enable me to grow at a level that is self sustaining. Great idea.. just not realistic for all.. but, I know you are aware.. Thanks for all you do, I will never waste my art, it is life, but, it doesn't feed.
Farming was our first free market industry, not just sustaining, but trading/growing. There were no "other sides" to be successful until the industrial revolution. The key to a prosperous life in a free society is to produce something of value to others. If we did not have a brain that can "reason", (if practiced), no advancements of mankind would have been possible. All of our civility and prosperity, started with farming.
The song Fear Inoculum came out in perfect timing after I got back from Peru where I had my first Ayahuasca ceremonies. Definitely had to face a lot of fears.

I have long wanted to sit down and chop up topics with Maynard. It's one of those things I always thought would be mutually beneficial for all parties. No hero worship...that's wasted on humans...but I retain this sense that the contrasts and confluences of experience would be healthy.

Jim's HS has the JH building right next to it in Scottville Michigan. It was a brand new JH school building in the 76/77 school years, and I spent 8th grade there before going to the HS and meeting Jim the next year, (after he moved to the area). The teachers in that JH school back in 1977 used to tell us that we are free in the USA, and can grow up to be what ever we wanted to be. Now the JH school as their official sign in front of it that says "Enter to learn" and "Forward to serve". Who are these kids suppose to grow up to "serve" today?
