The catch phrase of, "this ain't for everybody " is completely brought to light when you see the shot of his hands, the grease, chapped and somewhat busted look is pretty much a high indicator of someone who is truly involved in getting something fixed !! Dennis should definitely have a UA-cam channel. His knowledge of Shovelhead 's is valuable information to budding wrenches. Also he Explains calmly and to the point without Drama. From East Coast Canada 😈

That heavy grease on the tap to catch tiny shavings is a trick we use at our shop too.
The last thing you want are those little shavings floating around in there.

I can't wait to see the new Sporty done. The shovelhead would need so much work to take it where it should be. I would change the front forks and the front wheel and tire for a slim 26" tire. And the back wheel with a wheel with the sprocket. And I would clean it really nice and make it really super slick.

Repop stuff don't always fit right.. what year is the shovel.. slab side is pretty cool. 16 500 tires look pretty good probably handles nice as well. If the place for a ride control is still there put one on the springer, it will keep it from hopping on turns or rutted roads.. cycle electric 12 volt genny is nice. U might like a ride control, its old school but helps put a better ride for the front end
As someone trying to get into bike building and fabricating, more detail with the builds would be great. That being said, everything on your channel is super helpful and inspiring, keep it up!
Replace lock tab on that kick stand, looks jacked up. Bike going to fall over. When you least expect it. Cool bike. Good work keep going

I will always say the hell with the sporty and finish the shovel first, as far as Nostalgic classics go you cannot compare a sporty to a Shovelhead, the Shovelhead is just the perfect Bobber or Chopper period, I would take the Shovelhead any day over a sporty!!!

Stainless helicoils we use for tripped threads in alloy cases
May do that when it’s time to split the cases for a rebuild. I’ve seen people stick a cork in there after stripping the threads.

What gas tank? Do you have video of how you mounted it?
I wish you’d shown that skid plate install- as simple as it is I’m apparently missing something on mine! I have a cone shovel with an aftermarket frame so I don’t have any rear holes. Is that normal? Does it sit on top of the frame at the rear or mount underneath?
On an OEM frame there is a flat piece with mounting holes for the skid plate. It’s not the rear motor mounts. It doesn’t exist on my Paughco frame either.

Are your pipes 2in just curious shovels like 13/4 long pipes unless its a big inch build back pressure helps power and flat spots I've owned several anyway just my own opinion dig your channel be safe and greetings from Oregon
