  • In this video, I show you how I attach my Cattleya Orchids on My Tress. I live in South Florida so the climate here is great for growing orchids on trees. Hope you enjoy watching!
    XOXO!

    Fantastic garden! I recently got some stretchy cotton thin rope and it works amazing. It attaches my Vandas to my tree, is forgiving to the plant and roots then after the orchid has attached, it will deteriorate on its own.

    Hi,I lived in SW Ranches and I wanted to share this with you.when I put my cattleya in the tree with wire and I dont think they enjoy it.but if I attach them using the panty hose in just few weeks the roots is growing so good and giving more baby.Im not sure if you notice that😊😊

    • @bisaya2
      @bisaya2 4 роки тому

      in my opinion you made the right choice of not using metal wire. over time the metal wire will get "buried" into the roots of the orchid and the bark of the host tree and cause girdling and loss of supply of nutrients to the roots of the tree. the panty hose can be cut off after the orchid roots have successfully attached themselves to the host tree

    Your videos are very helpful. After hurricane Wilma (I think) went through South Florida about 14 years ago, many orchid farms in Homestead immediately trashed all their orchids in order to claim total loss with insurance, but they wouldn't let people collect them. There were a couple of large growers near the Homestead Airport that put them out to burn up in the sun or rot in dumpsters just behind their fences. I live in Key Largo, so a couple of Sundays I went up there and found ways over or around their fences and tossed hundreds of them over and collected them after bringing our van around. Unfortunately, we were too busy with two toddlers to immediately mount them, and almost all rotted anyway. We successfully mounted the remaining survivor last year, and want to *slowly* begin collecting again and immediately mounting them all. Your videos are tremendously helpful! Thank you!

      Wow!! Thank you so much! Wishing you much success with your mounted orchids. Too bad they rather burn them than give them away. That hurt a little bit. Glad you were able to collect and save some. Happy Growing and thank you for watching 😊

    Hello Blanca, I’m curious if there are some orchids that haven’t done well for you on trees during the winter. I’m in central Florida and it gets a bit colder and am worried that the winter will harm some of them.

    What side of the palm to you attach to? The north side? What is your teabag fertilizer?

    Hi Blanca! I love your videos! Two questions for you - (1) do you now also prefer the green wire over knee highs for the phals too? And (2) do you always leave the pots outside for a time before transferring to a tree (for all types of orchids or was that just these cattleyas)? thank you!

    • @blancasorchidgarden
      @blancasorchidgarden  5 років тому

      Marissa Faerber thank you 😊 I like using the green wire for everything but phals. I like the knee highs for the phals because they are so heavy and I am able to creat a little pouch with spag moss and roots. It’s just easier. Before mounting I like the orchids to acclimate by leaving out side a few weeks before attatching them. Mainly dendrobiums and Cattleyas. Hope this info is helpful 😊🌸 Happy Growing

    Hi Bianca, do you ever remove the green wire from the Cateyela? I have mine hanging with stocking for the past two years because I used your other video to do so. Each year I received the beautiful Starburst flower. I have another but does not bloom flower but its attached to the palm tree and the stocking vanished as you described it would do. I am not sure if I should attach a green wire?

    • @blancasorchidgarden
      @blancasorchidgarden  3 роки тому +1

      I forget to remove it and the roots start growing around it. It doesn’t really bother me like the knee high does so I leave it. Only reason I remove the knee high is because it doesn’t look as attractive as the wire. It’s really your choice. Unless it’s not cutting or damaging the roots I would leave it.

    You should use zip tie. make sure its tight or you give them less chance of survival
