  • Don't throw away your dead dry old orchids. You can bring them back to life. If you happen to have have damaged or sick orchids without crown or leaves al all. This situation when orchids can loose their crown called crown loss and became as a result of many mistakes of orchids care such as crown rot due to overwatering, parasites such a scales, influence of very low below 10 degrees Celsius temperature. In most cases orchids thrown away in to the garbage and not so many people know that there is a chance for orchids to rejuvenate. And monopodial phalenopsis orchids stems can produce keikis on what is left after crown loss. Just investigate your plant before throwing and if damaged orchids still have some healthy roots it has a chance to regrow. #OrchidsCare #orchids #Phalaenopsis #OrchidsForBeginners #PhalaenopsisOrchids #orchidaceae #orchidrepotting #orchidroots #orchidlover #phalenopsis
Aerial roots of the orchids like a roots of other epiphytes don’t really need substrate because they can absorb water and nutrients from the air. Aerial roots covered with sponge like looking tissue-velamen. They also contain chlorophyll and participating in photosynthesis. That fact make leafless orchids keep growing without leaves. Roots aren’t growing into substrate , but rather out of or on the surface of substrate using it just to attach themselves to it as for support. Having this knowledge I created simple way to save damaged, crown-less, leafless orchids.

I have had an orchid for over a year now that refuses to die, no matter the crap it goes through! All the roots died, it got moldy, it got dry, all the leaves fell off. I swear I thought it was dead a dozen times by now. I started propagating it in water, and now it’s finally starting to grow new flowers! I can’t even believe it tbh.

How did you propagate in water? You just put the dying orchid in a glass of water?
I am asking, because I have an orchid that is just struggling. It is always on the brink of death and I don't know why? All my other orchids are doing fine. I am now looking for a way to save that struggling orchid and finally get it to be stable 👀

It works, but in reality, if a person can't keep an established orchid alive, they've got no chance of keeping a keiki alive from the point the plant is at there!
I had a dead vanda throw a keiki cause I hadn't got around to cleaning out the pot & had just left it hanging outside where it had died. Keiki suffered the same fate as the adult did

I had an orchid that died from my inexperienced mistakes. First, I almost killed it by overwatering. By the time I got it back to good health, I was too scared to overwater it again, but I believe I ended up killing it by allowing too much time in between watering and it got too dry. I thought it was dead for good after all the leaves dropped, and the roots were all dried hard like sticks. I set it aside because I was going to use it in a terrarium because it made a good dead fallen tree by the little stream. Anyway, I noticed one day there was a tiny leaf popping up from the dead base of the plant, just off to the side. I looked closer and it was a fully formed baby orchid growing, with new tiny roots starting to poke thru. I never watered it, and was careful when misting the terrarium to not get it too wet as I didn't want it to get all floppy and rot. Looks to have gotten just the right amount of moisture from the terrarium and light bits of misting. I couldn't believe it. It was "dead" forever. Like, months. Plants always amaze me.

I once had a miniature orchid sitting on my window sill in my kitchen. Of course, it had beautiful blooms on it. Later, as expected, the flowers died and I cut off the spike. After a while, I pretty much ignored it. Eventually, I decided to throw it away since it had fallen into the sink a couple times, and I had given it up for dead. Luckily, I looked at it before I pitched it, and low and behold, it was starting to grow a very small new leaf. It survived for quite a time after that and grew a few more leaves. Never flowered, but was still really cute. Sometimes, they are tougher than you think.

There are a few things to remember.
🌊 For watering put them in water so you are bottom watering them.
⛔Do not get the crown wet.
      💧Water every 10 to 14 days.
      Let it dry well.
🌬Make sure the water gets out, good drainage is crucial.
🌤It does not need direct light.
🏞If you forget any of these remember how and where they grow.
🏔They grow on other trees a d they get good rain two times per month and they don't need soil and they need tree barks because they grow on trees.
🥀When it blooms and the flowers fall off cut the stem right under the last flower and above the next nod so it will shoot out a new stem for blooming.🌹
I don't fertilize mine, because they are not my plants, but I believe you can fertilize them in growing seasons, and for when they are blooming or should bloom you can give them some Orchid or African Violet fertilizer.
Do not stress to get them to bloom, they do it when they want to, and check your house for humidity and temperature. Those are really important.

Paula from Mexico, it is now 5 months. There are two babies, one is starting roots, still very small. The moss isn’t doing well because it doesn’t get direct sun. It gets light from window. Some days I take the plant out and put the vase outside in sun light for maybe half hour, bring it back in and put plants back in.

Thanks so much for this video. You have saved the life of my 11 year old orchid. The original roots have re-hydrated and new leaves have grown out of the original crown (plus a flower stem is budding on the other side) rather than growing a whole new new baby plant. Should I just leave it in the glass vase with the moss from now on, rather than in a pot with orchid compost? It seems so happy now.

@@emilehoffmann hey, unfortunate it was too late. The crown and the roots were dessicated. If you have at least one green root, there might be a chance
