    Let me tell you this - we had a #4 at our gym and it is utterly impossible to close. Not only couldn't I close it, but I couldn't move it one centimeter. This kid is nothing short of superhuman in terms of grip, and I say that literally. Unbelievable.

    As someone who's had most of the COC grippers for over 10 years at this point, even with direct purpose training, the chance of the average person ever even coming close to closing the #4 is low at best. Just to give someone who has never closed one of these grippers an idea... the vast majority of people can't close the #1 out of the box. It takes 140lb (64kg) of pressure to close it. The #4 takes 365lb (166kg) of pressure to completely close. As mentioned in the video, even some of the worlds strongest men, guys who deadlift 1000lb+ can't even budge the bars past parallel. Make no mistake, what this guy is doing, especially considering his age and size, is an amazing feat of grip strength.

      Each company that makes grippers uses their own method for determining the amount of force needed to close a given gripper. Cannon Powerworks has effectively standardized ratings by using the method of applying weight (via a strap, I guess) at the end of the handle of the gripper. This is how they "rate" grippers. This particular gripper was rated by Cannon, and the rating was given in kilograms as 96. With the right setup, anyone could rate grippers this way, though, and it's not like I'm saying Cannon invented this method.
      I know a lot of these companies like to quote figures such as 250, 300, 350+ lbs, and other such stratospheric numbers. I like the method that I described for keeping the figures down on planet Earth.

    Very well done Ivan! That is a great accomplishment my friend.
    Few people messaged me on IG asking me to watch this video and give my opinion. I did and it is a great and amazing close. Very few people can close a CoC #4. I also know Ivan and am friends with him. He is young, strong and have a bright future in strength world. Others asked me if grippers close equals overall grip. The answer is no. Gripper close means you are strong in grippers. Thick bar means you are strong in thick bar. Pinch means you are good in Pinch. Vertical bar means you are good in V-Bar. Anvil lifts means you are good at anvils and so on. Other have asked me who do is stronger in grip, Khaled or Ivan? I don't know until they meet or at least if I see Ivan's thick bar or pinch,...etc on video. What do I think is Khaled is overall better in grip strength. Like thick bar, two hand pinch, blobs, V-Bar and so on.
    Others also asked me who will win in AW match. I also don't know until they both try and AW. Khaled is super strong as we all know. But it is worth mentioning that Ivan did beat John Brzenk in training. Again, we won't know until they actually have a match. No need to put this over that without evidence.
    I read somewhere here that Khaled is stronger because he closed the CoC #3.5 without training and can train to close the #4. While I am sure he can close the #4 with little training but Khaled never closed a #3.5 without training. Our training is mostly documented in my channel. He closed the #1.5 in his first day after I showed him how to use the sweet spot in his hands. After all, his hand size is big and he needs to learn hand placement. He also closed the HG400 which is around CoC #2.3 or so in strength. If I remember correctly in two workouts later he closed a CoC #3. He just needed how to do it and get little adapted to it. In two and a half month he closed a CoC #3.5 on Larry's channel and got a good attempt on the CoC #4 no set. So no, Khaled did not close the #3.5 without training. But, he closed it in two and a half month of training. Khaled stropped doing grip and AW and is focusing on MMA now.
    Finally, some messaged me and said we want to see Ivan come at the grip temple and humble Khaled especially through handshake. For those wondering, Ivan will never do that and nor will Khaled. This is rude. I am not sure why the hate here. But, gripper closes does not equal to hand shake strength. It will help a little but not much. Hand shake strength is more about hand size and leverage. Then again, neither will do this unprofessional act.

    • @GripAlawadhi
      @GripAlawadhi 2 роки тому +27

      @@liamrmorgans921 Yes but not much. You will have better carry over from pinch or thick bar for grip than grippers.
      I would like to add one more thing. Gripper close will focus more on the last two fingers (pinkie and ring finger) and it's dynamic strength. Static strength like a grip dynamometer (and that handle which utilizes all fingers equally unlike gripper last two fingers) is still different. Ivan is certified on the GM-150 around 138 KG or so. There are people who are in the 140s and Vitaly has the current world record. But neither of them closes a #4 yet higher than Ivan on the GM-150.

    That kind of grip strength is weird. It largely seems to be correlated with height, hand size and overall mass but then you get outliers like this dude. Not knocking the guy but his forearms aren't ludicrously jacked either; must be just wired in a way that allows his CNS to fire super efficiently for gripping.

      @@UntroubledPlacid Yes, a friend of mine was a heavy vehicle mechanic and he struggled to close a gripper I could close easily - not because he was weak, but because the meat of his palm got in the way. At the time I didn't know as much as I needed to to explain how to set the gripper. I am not very strong, but with the grippers I can close, I prefer a "no set" as setting the gripper just seems to disturb my coordination - I have Cerebral Palsy, so coordination is definitely a factor. My friend has, sadly, died, so I can't explain. I would love to have seen him try after some training.

      @@UntroubledPlacid Thank you. As comments are not meant to be a full autobiography, I didn't give full context. My friend died more than a decade ago. Doesn't mean I don't miss him, esp. when talking/writing about him, but the pain isn't fresh, if you know what I mean. As far as Grippers are concerned, it was odd seeing him fail with a gripper I could close easily, since he could easily do reps with weights where I could barely do a single (and I believe, a lack of self-confidence held him back from expressing his true strength.) I hadn't thought of the possibility of bigger handles, perhaps it would work. Or perhaps he needed something with a single large handle that could register pressure, say if part of the handle could be compressed against resistance - that way no risk of skin being caught between the handles.
      Anyhow, I appreciate your taking the time to reply.

    Its mostly the technique. The kid's hand was much further down to the bottom of the device maximizing leverage. He had the bottom of the handle nearly in the middle of his palm 10:52 and his pinky almost off, where Larry had the bottom of the handle sticking out the bottom of his palm and fingers 11:42. This change alone would double the force applied (ish).
