Crazy grip power. Carl is a Sasquatch ! I just started testing my grip at 47 years old. Been a casual lifter and done things like arm wrestling training, kickboxing and lots of firewood. I'm about 5'11" and 185 lbs. My best so far is 162.2 lbs. I think my goal is 175lbs. Unreal how strong some humans can get.
I heard a fun story about Carl when he was in college. So at a shot put meet in college world champion Christian Cantwell was there. A 6'5, 340lb guy, absolutely massive. And the meet was starting but Cantwell's coach couldn't find him anywhere. He looked around and started asking people around him, like where did this kid go. But then Carl Myerscough moved out of the way, and Cantwell had been standing behind him. Also, apparently Carl would do shot put exercises with the 35lb weight throw ball. This dude's hands simply do not belong to a human lol
That gripper has a rating tag of 220. If it was done by Cannon PowerWorks, it's worth noting that the average Captains of Crush #4 gripper has a CPW rating of 214 and the most common rating (the mode) is 212. So, statistically, this gripper is about 3 to 4% harder than other #4 grippers. Also, by all the earlier 'squeaking' that can be heard during his reps with the other grippers, it's apparent that none of these springs have been oiled. Unoiled springs full of chalk dust would add additional resistance as well.
So glad you are here to show the people what this man is doing. Incredible. It looks so easy but those who have tried any of these knows how impossible this really is. This man is a legend
Larry, in so many sports, little advantages (and disadvantages) accrue to certain athletes. In bench pressing with the 32" legal grip limit, big Jim Williams' (675 lbs. in early 70s) bench presses looked almost close grip, then some tiny guy/gal benches where it appears super wide using the same width. In deadlifting, a guy who can pull like you, really big weights, gets a bit of bar bend to better break it off the floor. In Olympic lifting, the high-end bars oscillate more after a superheavyweight shoulders the weight after a squat clean. Same overhead after a jerk where it makes keeping elbows locked more of an issue. You get the idea. Here on CoC's? This man has huge grip power . . . and his big advantage not available to everyone? Big hands to grab the grippers with a more favorable position. Good video!!!
Yeah that would have been cool, missed opportunity. Or maybe they asked and he said no because he was very specifically aiming for those top sets (three!) with the number four gripper and didn't want to waste strength and energy on the meter?
@@user-vi4ty7dq8rcredit card rule means you have to open the gripper handles enough to fit a credit card in between. A lot of every day normal people can error out a dyno that maxes out at 90 kg. The Grippermania GM150 dyno was made to test dyno scores much above that, and has a leaderboard online.
Another instant classic! Larry and Adam, please reach out to do a future collaboration with the strongman legend Mark Felix. That would be phenomenal on so many levels, not just because you're both living legends and generational representations of strength feats, and passionate about all things grip, but also because you both have Islander roots!
@irishninja2009 He most certainly is. If you are in denial of that, then you're completely delusional. You think you only have to win the world title to be a legend in strongman? Mark is one of the most prolific of all time and most consistently competing despite his relatively older age compared to much younger competitors. He set the record for most World's Strongest Man contests competed in and made it to the finals three times. He also set the grip records that many of the world champions could not.
Does he have a book on grip straining? I would love to buy a book like that. So few books on grip out there. Someone needs to kick him to the ass to write that. Like just to have his opinion on paper coherently and categorically explained would be super interesting. Example content: 1. grippers 1.1. warmup 1.2. exercises and methods 1.3. programming 2. think handle 2.1. warmup 2.2. exercises and methods 2.3. programming 3. pinch 3.1. warmup 3.2. exercises and methods 3.3. programming
Carl Myerscough is a genetic freak, prior to his Grip career he threw Shotput and Disucs at Nebraska, throwing the shotput well over 70 feet, one of the farthest throws in NCAA history. He later represented GB at the Olympics in 2012.
Hand size doesnt correlate with strength anywhere near as much as other bodyparts, mainly because your fingers have no muscles in them. Granted a shorter hand will struggle with thick bar or wide pinch stuff
Carl is a true beast. I don't know how much money he made when he competed and won world records. But that just goes to say that if u got the will power and put your mind into something, you can make money from nothing. Now personally speaking, a grip or arm wrestling competition isn't MMA UFC or pro footballer or soccer or basketball, you can't propose to a girl and impress her father with a resume of monster grip 😅, but as Carl put it (he's realistic and was smart about it), it's just a personal goal a you vs you and what I'd like to call self-help or self-development brain power tool. For me, my goal is 225lbs, and I get there with mind over matter and brain power and proper breathing technique..arriving at 225lbs of grip strength, 6 minutes of holding breath (I'm at 5 now), 150 pushups in one go (I'm at 100 now), 2000 elo rating at chess (I'm at 1800 now) are all coping mechanisms for me due to life's struggles whether my past demons or status quo, but say some company offered to sponsor me in any of the above and saw potential in me then I'm onnoard, however I don't consider any of the above a real world sport, feel me, just a coping mechanism in my eyes
I'm a shorter guy at 5'6", 170 pounds, and have been a lifetime natural weight training for about 47 years. I have small hands which is a detriment to training with grippers even though I do train 2 times per week by just doing 4 or 5 sets just to maintain some semblance of strength in the hands. When younger I was pretty strong, benching 405, squatting 525 with a bad back since surgically repaired in 1998. I got the 150-pound dumbbells for 4 on flat bench and did dips with 150s. Having said that, we used to have the COC 1, 2, 3 and 4 with a couple halfs -1.5, 2.5. The most I've gotten is a 2. I may have been able to get the 2.5, or close, but never really used that one. For shits and giggles I tried the 4 at the gym one day years ago. It was like trying to close a rock. I couldn't budge it. Anyone who can close a #4 COC has the power to break every bone in your hand. The feat is unbelievable. That anyone is able to do a 3 is remarkable, never mind a 3.5 or 4.
Please larry let him try the dynamo meter squeeze.. I would like tos ee how much the dynamic strength in grippers correlates to the dynomemeter too compare with vitaly static grip
It doesn't really correlate, dynos are about raw power, for grippers there are leverages that cater to certain hand types, and also a high amount of skill required. Anyone can use a dyno.
@@c8myotome yeah i believe that squeezing statically straight down is different than dynamic angled squeezing.. Plus the technique and all that however their is a bit of correlation i doubt somebody can squeeze number 4 and not squeeze at least 120 - 130 kg on dyno even first time but yeah im not sure if he can break vitaly record.. Vitaly static grip is higher than ivan's who can also squeeze number 4 from deep set.. Even larry can squeeze up to 125 kg on dyno with good technique and when fresh and ivan has like 10-15 kg more.. Larry can barely close number 3 on a good day so definitely they are different
@@mystyle8753 yep it's not even belief or opinion just physics and lever arms. I outcrush Larry with smaller hands, im certified on coc 3 and GHP8 and have closed 3.5s in training. Only tried the gm150 once so far after 2.5 hours of gripping and got 101kg could do more fresh. Hand shape and skill matters a lot more for grippers whereas dynos are little skill and all strength where hand size doesn't matter as much
@@c8myotome ok that's a live example lol cool.. Yeah larry can barely close a 3 and got 120 - 125 kg as his best on dynamometer.. Hand size, lever and static vs dynamic is the difference.. You probably can do between 110-120? Fresh not sure tho

Thank you for showing us this absolute monster of a man, despite him being so humble he is a monster.
I think carl could have crushed a steel bar with larrys voice shouting COME ON CARL hyping him up
That gripper has a rating tag of 220.
Ok, so when talking about Grip Genie:
“The hardest gripper they make”
…
“A good warmup”
Clearly there’s levels to this and I’m still at the tutorial.
Larry, your videos are getting better and better. Never a disappointment seeing the strength world through you.
Larry just randomly got to take his shirt off for the cert close lol
Finally Carl is on! Absolutely has the strongest grip in the world. He has closed a GHP 10, which is harder than a COC#4
I want him to try Brian shaws blob run
So glad you are here to show the people what this man is doing. Incredible. It looks so easy but those who have tried any of these knows how impossible this really is. This man is a legend
I love how Larry took HIS shirt off for Carl's big effort on the #4. LMAO Good stuff.
PR lifestyle babaay
Great grip strength. Where's the grip meter with the gauge test to see max force?
Yeah that would have been cool, missed opportunity. Or maybe they asked and he said no because he was very specifically aiming for those top sets (three!) with the number four gripper and didn't want to waste strength and energy on the meter?
He's the only person to certify on a #4 with the credit card rule. And the only dude ever to close a GHP 10.
What is the rule ? And what is the difference between ghp and coc pliers?
@@user-vi4ty7dq8rcredit card rule means you have to open the gripper handles enough to fit a credit card in between. Reason being it's harder on the fingers since you can't fully wrap your fingers around and cant help with your leg or other hand too deep. Ghp is a little harder than coc 4 since he closed php with a deep set which is helping with the other hand to get it really close..
@@mystyle8753 thank you for your answer, I admit that I did not understand well because I speak French and I use Google translate the translation was not clear, can you explain it more clearly in simple words. Sorry
@@user-vi4ty7dq8r ghp 10 a bit harder than captains of crush number 4. To certify on ghp 10 you have to close it from a distance of 2 inch block or something like that. To certify on captains of crush 4 you have to close it form width of credit card which is harder since it's wider.
I would also like to see his dynamometer scores 🤔 really curious,if he could squeeze error out of that thing lol
A lot of every day normal people can error out a dyno that maxes out at 90 kg. The Grippermania GM150 dyno was made to test dyno scores much above that, and has a leaderboard online.
I was not expecting Carl to event attempt a rep out of the CoC 4 wow!
Would love to see him do Brian Shaws grip gauntlet.
Yes
This guy+Brian+Vitaly in the same room would make the world implode from all the crushing strength😂😂😂
Another instant classic! Larry and Adam, please reach out to do a future collaboration with the strongman legend Mark Felix. That would be phenomenal on so many levels, not just because you're both living legends and generational representations of strength feats, and passionate about all things grip, but also because you both have Islander roots!
Mark felix is certainly no legend in strongman
@irishninja2009 He most certainly is. If you are in denial of that, then you're completely delusional. You think you only have to win the world title to be a legend in strongman? Mark is one of the most prolific of all time and most consistently competing despite his relatively older age compared to much younger competitors. He set the record for most World's Strongest Man contests competed in and made it to the finals three times. He also set the grip records that many of the world champions could not.
We need a show with Carl crushing different everyday things with his hands
I moved a #4 about 3mm its like grabbing a river rock and trying to crumble it. Unbelievable.
Does he have a book on grip straining? I would love to buy a book like that. So few books on grip out there. Someone needs to kick him to the ass to write that. Like just to have his opinion on paper coherently and categorically explained would be super interesting.
Example content:
1. grippers
1.1. warmup
1.2. exercises and methods
1.3. programming
2. think handle
2.1. warmup
2.2. exercises and methods
2.3. programming
3. pinch
3.1. warmup
3.2. exercises and methods
3.3. programming
That was insanity. Carl is a true beast
Would love to know how Brian Shaw, Mark Felix, Dennis and Levan stack up. All have legendary hand size / strength!
Carl Myerscough is a genetic freak, prior to his Grip career he threw Shotput and Disucs at Nebraska, throwing the shotput well over 70 feet, one of the farthest throws in NCAA history. He later represented GB at the Olympics in 2012.
I’ve been scrolling through the comments trying to see if anyone was saying anything about the Cornhuskers flag he has on his wall
@@mattslittlebrown4355 They've got a great throws program built up again today!
Larry takin his shirt off for the grand finale! 😂
The Gripe Genie nr 6 is only good for warming up😂
I guess the last one before this was Magnus Samuelsson. And he didnt specialize in it amazing. This is another level though
Ridiculous how he’s repping after already doing it twice before. Incredible strength.
Seems like all these world class grip guys are tall with huge hands.
Great to see! Well done Carl.
did not expect you to ever have a vid with carl! so great
Larry had to take his shirt off JUST to hand the #4 to the giant.
When you see a video with washing machines in the background, you know you're gonna witness some power.
The #4 feels impossible to close, the way he’s able to close it just baffles my brain how strong his crushing grip is.
i think the ghp 10 is harder but the #4 is definatly near the top
I would love to see this guy and Devon Larratt spend some time talking about hands and exchanging tricks.
Agreed.
Wait!!! What about the part where we learn his placement method?
About damn time Carl got some eyes on him
That is hard to believe even though I just seen it. Someone closing the 4 is amazing enough, I never thought it would even be possible to rep it.
I'd be happy to close the COC #3.5 for 1 let alone rep out a #4
I can't believe that Larry do not bring the Gm-150 Dynamometer,we would like to see how much carls can squeeze 🗿
insane that his hands don't look abnormally big like Khaled's but pretty much same size as Larry's yet they are that much stronger.
Hand size doesnt correlate with strength anywhere near as much as other bodyparts, mainly because your fingers have no muscles in them. Granted a shorter hand will struggle with thick bar or wide pinch stuff
@@sammorrissey9094 it helps with surface area tho
i am 25 6'9 and took met 1 year to rep 250 lbs 12 times
Sounds great brother!
5 minutes of apnea? What's the secret
Hold breath for 5 minutes ? Show proof bud no pure o2 btw that’s cheating
LARRY CLABS WITH THE BEST, Tour around the world looking at freaks of strength
Soo good
Now imagine he shook your hand like he closed #4.
you gonna need a new hands xD
Maybe mention you came second at Arnolds to Cim Johansson. He shares your WR Axle and beat you on single hand.
Really? 😮
I need to see him vs Brian shaw in a full grip gauntlet
Imagine arm wrestling someone with that grip strength. You’d fold just from the pain.
No mention of Mark Felix, insane grip, even Devon Larratt was shocked by his size of hand.
huh? why would they randomly mention Mark Felix?
Avg Mark Felix meat rider
Damn this was fun as hell to watch. Only us men would be interested in this kind of stuff haha.
Grip is such a cool thing to be strong with.
Please larry let him try the dynamo meter squeeze.. I would like tos ee how much the dynamic strength in grippers correlates to the dynomemeter too compare with vitaly static grip
Yesss. This please. Gm150 Dynamometer please.
Great video Larry, what power Carl has in those hands
This is simply insane amount of raw power, my hats to you sir!~
Karl Norberg was said to have had phenomenal grip into his 80's, and only starting weight training in his late 50's if I'm not mistaken.
Amazing! More grip monster videos please.
incredible strong Carl very humble man, Larry thank you for sharing this amazing video.
