      With that in mind, his body isn't that impressive. H-ck it is absolutely possible to have a similar body (or actually better) at that age all naturally wihout TRT or anything.. I'm 56 and cutting right now to get down to 205 pounds (about 93kg) in the summer at 182 cm (almost 6 feet). At that weight I can do full range chinups in rings with 25 kg added for 8 reps for example (That means pulling a total of 118 kg in the rings from bottom to top).
      People have too low expectations about the fitness of people in the higher range of middle age. What they often forget is that a person may have started very early in life working out like crazy. I did 13 pronated and 16 supinated full range chinups (I am European, Swede) when I was nine years old so I have that advantage going for me....
      I'm going to try to show how damn good you can be at 56 (well 57 in July next year for me) natural. Wil have to cut down even further below 93 to do that...Right now at 108 "full house" kg!

      I think thats generally the thing with america. Usually food here in Europe is less processed and higher quality or a lot less greasy and sweet and portions are much smaller. I mean look up White Castle burgers or cheese in tubes, the Heart Attack restaurant, or even worse: These lunchables they give their kids in schools - Highly processed food with only crap in it. Not saying you cant get your hands on similar low quality food here as well, but on the average I would be surprised if households in america have a healthier died with better food than europeans. I mean I saw a documentary and some family literally had some heated-up sweet waffle with a large chunk of butter + bacon as a breakfast.

    One "hack" I use for filling tasty food is substituting half a thing.
    For instance, if I make a fried rice dish instead of 1 cup of rice, I use half a cup the add 2 cups of finely chopped cabbage.
    The volume gets INSANE and cuts the carbs in half while giving you a ton of fiber.
    My fried rice dish I make is usually 60g protein and about 35ishg Carbs.

    The thing about Italy, Joe, isn't that the food is less caloric (though we aren't comparing the average diet here, only the average pasta), it's the lifestyle that's healthier on a whole - they use less cars, walk more, etc.; that includes a better diet on average too... This means that their average diet and activity are gonna make less people fat, but the pasta specifically isn't that different.

    In Italy we get LESS fat (compared to the USA) just because junk food is a minor part of our (average) diet. So, we eat less calorie-dense foods than Americans do. Sure, we have pizza, gelato and fried things, but we don't normally eat that every day. Also, we have on average a more varied diet, including in it more vegetables and fruits than Americans. That said, Italy is indeed getting fatter and fatter, as it's almost the norm for every modern country.

She doesn’t eat a lot in any sitting, but she’s always thinking about the next thing she wants to eat. (She’s also super athletic and active, so no weight issues. Yet.) The other kid is just NOT interested in food. And when he gets hungry, he honestly loves apples. That’s his go-to snack. He will eat a lot in a sitting and then just not think about food again all day. He’s rail thin.

      The thing people don't realize is the wealth disparity between the US and Europe. GDP per capita in Italy is $48k. In the US, it is $82k. Thus, Italians still eat mostly at home. Americans eat out at restaurants A LOT. I think Italians would be shocked by it. I know many people who eat multiple meals at restaurants every single day. And a restaurant's job is to make highly palatable food without much concern for health. The two main causes of the obesity epidemic in the US are too much disposable income and mostly sedentary jobs. But because bashing Americans is so popular in the rest of world--and this has also rubbed off on many of our own young people through the internet--the popular narrative is about how stupid and lazy Americans are or about how capitalism has led to poisoned food or some other nonsense.

We as individual American citizens did not have the opportunity or ability to choose to bow down to fossil fuels. COUNTLESS times have we the citizens advocated for rail systems and optimization of transit just to be smacked down by the few at the top with all the money and power.

      Never mind ALL the fitness influencers in America (who outnumber the rest of the world.) You people talk like Americans are the only people who are all lazy.
      I tell you what: when the rest of the world stops trying to break into American professional sports and that trend reverses; when American baseball, football and basketball players are trying to break into professional sports in other countries, then you can talk all the smack you want about American laziness. There’s a reason the peak athletes world around want to play here in America….because the world’s peak athletetic standard is found here in America.

    You know, as a person who trains both bjj and weights, and is conscious of health, I would like to hear a bit more about efficient ways to train rather than the optimal ones. I mean, 4 times bjj + 4 times strength training sounds all well and good, but if you have a job and don't use PEDs, it's basically fantasy land. It's more than 1 workout daily, there's neither enough time to do it nor enough opportunity for recovery, without event taking into consideration the increased injury risk.
    So maybe kettlebells aren't the end all be all of strenght training, but maybe they're more efficient because you can blast a 20min circuit and be pretty much done for the day, having targeted the whole body.
    I truly crave to get better healthier and stronger, but in order to do that I need to know how to train wisely.
    And consider I'm Italian, so I have it easy since I can eat 3kg of bread and pasta daily and not get fat. 🤣

    Kettlebells are advanced teaching tools for athletes, especially strength athletes. They are ideal(!) for bringing you in challenging positions and test your body’s stabilizing and movement mechanics. An example: once you have routinely single arm strict pressed a 52kg kettlebell, your body has downloaded enough neurological information to press 64+kg of Barbell/Dumbbell etc. and that more safely than you would have just waving up to that weight with Dumbbells alone. Neurological fields (directly translated from german, dont know what Americans call it) are a real thing in strength, they decrease your capacity for catastrophic failure.
    To build muscle, you don’t need a teaching tool, advanced or otherwise, which is why Mike can’t think of anything good to do with it.

    Yes, Joe Rogan is very impressive. He made Dr. Mike shit his pants not to say anything that might upset him. Very influential.

    Not being able to get into "optimal postion" and then getting pissed and quitting early held me back for a long time. As soon as I started actually trying ro reach those positions by accepting it was going to take a while and then doing regressions of those exercises, I started making noticeable progress and my pains went away.

    You desperately want that appearance on the JRE huh ? The Dr Mike I know would have had so many things to criticize about Rogan's bro-science.
    The nonsense about carbs ;
    the kettlebell exercises that will fail to focus a muscle group for hypertrophy and will not even provide decent cardiovascular adaptations ;
    renegade rows that are the embodiment of F-tier exercise ;
    BS "core engagement" stuff ;
    lack of eccentric control and stretch under load ;
    the terrible stimulus/fatigue ratio of this whole workout.
    What the hell ?

    Mike, you were way too soft on the absolute BS Joe spews about diet and supplements. It’s infuriating how much he thinks he knows but it’s all objectively and factually incorrect. Fuuuuuuu

      @ ok, fine smartass. So folic acid, like all organic acids and folate are interchangeable. Any time you mix acid with water the OH group detaches leaving the -ate portion. I.e ascorbic acid->ascorbate, folic acid->folate, acetic acid->acetate. Folic acid (or folate) is absolutely essential for the function of the human body, most importantly DNA synthesis and RBC production. Not to mention the benefit for pregnant women in reducing the risk of neural tube defects.

      @7anamanneh День тому

      It is actually a good thing that wheat based products in the US are all supplemented with folate, reducing these risks. So yeah, Joe shouldn’t weigh in on shit he doesn’t understand.

    • @7anamanneh
      @7anamanneh День тому

      @ I don’t know where my reply went. Here we go again, folic acid like all organic acids, when added to water dissociates the hydroxyl group and becomes folate so they are interchangeable. Other examples include acetic acid becoming acetate, ascorbic acid, which is vitamin C, becoming ascorbate. Folic acid is essential for DNA synthesis and red blood cell production, not to mention the benefits in reducing the risk of neural tube defects and pregnant women.

    I love how Mike is debunking all of Joe's BS when it comes to food . The guy still believes seed oils are bad even when huberman came on recently and said i hate to to break it to you but the RCTs dont show that . And you can just see rogan rejecting that idea internally

    Joe Rogan is the guy who sees himself as an expert at all things, he talks about, even being truly incompetent on certain topics. It's wild how he talks to some many people, learns so many things from the best and then ends up sounding like complete fool
