Tim Henson (the lead guitarist) posted a video on his channel of an uncut unplugged version so you can really focus on his finger work. He’s one of the most talented guitarists I’ve ever seen

Yeah especially the end of the show where the music video doesn’t really show the insane fret movement

Couple notes on the drummer. A big reason he uses such intricate and original hi-hat patterns is that the main songwriter Tim, usually starts by creating a song on his computer and programs a drum groove which often times uses heavy Trap/Rap influences where they have a ton of different hi-hat work in the beats. Also it comes fairly natural to their drummer because he started in a drumline in school and so his knowledge and experience with rudiments is top-shelf 👌

That explains a lot. He is absolutely one of the best set players I've ever heard!

The thing you mentioned about orchestra players and violin/viola is interesting, as the guitarist with the black guitar (Tim) actually started out on classical violin and switched to guitar.

What’s great about these guys is they actually play what you hear. Those glitches you mentioned are genuinely performed, the amount of talent they have is absolutely absurd.

If you like their drummer Clay, you NEED to check out the video he did with Meinl cymbals playing their song O.D. It's insane and always worth a watch

Great reaction young man! I only found this band about a year ago and I have been hooked ever since! Their old work is equally amazing...

Fun fact: Tim Henson, the composer and guitar player, the guy in the middle, he wrote that riff in a MIDI visualiser and had to find a way to play it with his fingers

Their drummer is Clay Aeschliman. Hes definitely my favorite member of the band! He has a drum playthrough of this song and several others that are all worth a watch.
I believe his background is drumline but he definitely does a lot of trap drumming in their songs.

2:10 Tim has actually said that one of his processes for writing weird riffs like that is to feed a chord through Ableton's arpeggiator on random settings and then tab out the result.

It’s how it’s performed the glitch you here
It’s part of effects they track with the guitar leads
    Cheers !

Since you like this, I dare to suggest you to react to Return To Forever - "Romantic Warrior". It contains some of the elements with this piece, being a jazz - latin - fusion group from the 1970's.

You need to listen to Tim's "my new signature guitar" version guitar only plugged in and/or his unplugged guitar only version even crazier than the music video

Love your work man, can you do hopefully OPETH - Demon of the fall OR Katatonia - Chrome. More so on Chrome so I can hear input on the drum lines and how some of these sounds are made. There should be an option to donate to you to cover a song, like 50 bucks, to cover a song. Would love it. Keep it up, you are the onyl one that can give out great information that HAS THE KNOW of how it all comes together including the prowess behind layers and each indivudals "part" in how it all comes together, that I trust on here to do it right.

I've been a guitarist for well over 35 years. Studied classical and jazz in college. When I see Polyphia play I'm absolutely amazed at the amazing talent and virtuosity of the musicians.
BUT... I'm also very bored and usually can't listen to an entire song. The most amazing talented player with lifeless emotionless music.
Fine if that's what you enjoy but it bores the hell out of me.

That "glitch in the matrix" part, there is a little bit of post-production, but it's mostly that Tim and Scott are just freaks of nature about playing in time together and they split that run.
Tim Henson and Scottie Le Page both have unplugged play-throughs if you wanna break it down. Tim does the whole song, Scottie does up until the break.
Also, the drummer, not jazz background, but drumline. The part that always impressed me most is the part before the drum-vamp actually. That groove with that melody is just too good. Incredible melodic drumming.
Lastly, back to your thoughts on "the glitch in the matrix", the way Tim, the composer, comes up with lots of this stuff, is by derping around in DAWs coming up with impossible to play things, then figuring out how to play them. So you're not too far off the money with that line of reasoning.
