I personally feel Greymane is one of the best written characters in WoW at the moment. In this series, it seems like most characters can either be at one of two ends of the spectrum. Either they keep making mistakes that pile up until they've turned into a full-on villain, or they rarely make mistakes and only small ones at that, eventually becoming a paragon of virtue. In this world that's become increasingly black and white, Greymane has been allowed to make a lot of awful mistakes and still learn and grow from them, becoming a better king and a better person than he was before. Back during the alliance of Lordaeron he eventually pulled out from a mixture of looking out for only his own people and his own pride. When the Worgen attacked his people outside the wall due to his own order to summon them, he did not open the gates and risk bringing the infected inside. He then took to going out in hunting parties for Worgen where he was bit himself, and he also fought a civil war within his own kingdom just because an old friend sent some Gilnean troops to assist the Alliance. All of this led to his kingdom falling and succumbing to the Worgen curse and the Forsaken. But now we've seen him become better. In Wolfheart, when Varian was overcome with his anger and mocked Greymane, mercilessly insulting him and throwing the blame of Gilneas' fall squarely on his shoulders, he did not bite back. He accepted it, and even accepted Varian's initial ruling that the Gilneans would not be accepted back into the Alliance. He accepted the blame. In Before the Storm we saw him overcome his blind hatred of all Forsaken and focus it instead squarely on Sylvanas, recognizing that they were their own people and had made their own mistakes. In Legion, we saw him act strategically and destroy an item of great value to Sylvanas to disrupt her plans rather than trying to outright kill her, clearly keeping his anger in check. And in Battle for Azeroth, when the Night Elves needed help the Alliance couldn't provide, we saw Genn stand by their side and pledge Gilneas to their effort, even stating that they would gladly focus on helping the Night Elves rather than retaking their own kingdom. And he also assisted greatly with unifying Kul Tiras, even calling back to his own mistakes by saying that he would teach them the lesson he had to learn the hard way so many years ago. We've seen him change so much over the years and become a new father figure for Anduin in the wake of Varian's death. This vid brought back some unexpected nostalgia feelings. I still remember when my mom took me to the store and bought me cataclysm and the moment i started a Worgen and quested through Gilneas. Such an amazing feeling honestly, i feel like Revendreth tried to be Gilneas-ish but it doesn't have nearly the same charm as Gilneas did when it released and we got to experience it. God i wish i revert time just to experience it like new again!
You forgot to mention the 20 minute wait for the gryphon section of the battle. But still, this made me want to make yet ANOTHER worgen just to do the quest line... that music... it still gives me chills
The incompetency doesn't end there either. He messed up multiple times in Legion, and stood their like a baffoon when Anduin was kidnapped right in front of him.
He also attacked Sylvanas' fleet in an attempt to kill her(the current leader of The Horde) during a wartime pact between The Alliance and The Horde. She turned around and burned down Teldrassil in response.
Angry old man yells at cloud. Before that: Smashes a lantern and considers it fitting revenge for his entire kingdom and his heir. Blizz really do Genn dirty lol. But of all characters in the entire franchise Genn has had the most character development and is actually pretty damn cool in legion/BFA--especially the cinematics.
Afterward Genn was so hung up on his son, he completely neglected his daughter so she became an assassin and tried to become a Worgen to get his attention.
@Dominatrix in Distress i feel yogg saron was wreaking some havoc but can't do much in northrend because too many undeads he can't control, the trolls where empowering themselves with the loas, and the magic dragons where too "wise" to be controlled by yogg so its pretty much limited to control the keepers and they have 2 dungeons and the ulduar raid so its seen fine to me
If this outro music were played at the end of a movie in a cinema, I'd stay at my chair till I fall asleep. I really enjoyed those two parts. It was better than watching Netflix. Honestly. For Gilneas!

The worgen starting zone is one of the examples of blizzard story question done right, to this day i still just run through that quest chain just to do the story and then delete the character around lvl 13
Liams Speech is lowkey one of the best things i heared in wow period. If someone gave that Speech IRL i would run in Head first with no Hessitation whatsoever
I appreciate your sense for the pathos. The comedy is good, but acting out the emotions these characters are going through and conveying how important this history is for these fictional characters is why your Forest Troll video and this series are some of my favorites. You put real work in, and it shows, and it's worth it.
These videos are soooo good! I'm not normally interested in these types of videos, but you do such a great job at story-telling while adding your own spin and humor on things! Such a great mix. Keep up the amazing work!
You did a great job covering the story of the gilneans and the worgen curse. I played that start zone once to see the lore and quests, but seeing the story layed out in a cohesive video like this is much better. Thank you! Also i have to mention that the Ashenvale theme which plays at the end is one of the best songs in WOW.
I just came across a thought... if the abandoned part of the kingdome paid the taxes before the wall's construction... technically Genn built a wall and made them pay for it
"We did it father... we took back our city!.. we... took... back..." "My lord, horde reinforcements are coming quickly, we need to retreat!" I'm not crying, you're crying!
Fun fact: Varian Wrynn, though obviously not a Worgen, was guided through the rituals of taming the beast and afterwards unlocked the connection he had to Goldrinn (that the orcs saw when they first saw him fight as Lo'Gosh) and for a time had access to Goldrinn's strength, speed, and ferocity without having to change into a Worgen form. It wasn't permanent but he did retain some of that (kinda like how in DBZ Battle of the Gods Goku's body got used to Super Saiyan God form and he could still keep up with Beerus even when his time ran out.)
I loved this too much man... this makes me wish there was a WOW cinematic universe where we can watch every epic WOW story unfold just the way you show it in your vids.. Too amazing for words.
Well done as always, Platinum WoW! Despite this being a well mockery at times of what Genn has done you did also a really fantastic job of showing just some epic moments with the character and the lore. Excited to see this carry forward in the future!

I could be wrong but didn't the cataclysm hit first then the frosaken invaded. They previously hadn't been able to because gilneas and reefs that blocked the ships but the cata removed them.

I mean...he wasn't particular incompetent. After watching both videos like, his only really terrible decision was the wall (there were other bad decisions, like unleashing the worgen or letting in injured soliders who fought the worgen, but a lot of those decisions are only bad on hindsight) ---> He made a token effort to the alliance showing he wasn't totally abandoning them, but he didn't commit more soldiers than he needed to to ensure their victory, thus saving on his kingdom's resources, and the lives of his citizens. --> When wastefulness of continuing an alliance was laid bare, he promptly pulled out --> The wall like I said, probably a bad decision --> He didn't unleash the worgen on a whim, at least by this retelling he really did feel like there was no choice but to release the worgen. --> As the problem began growing out of hand, he began organizing hunting parties to quell their numbers. --> With an effection going around the last thing you want is widespread panic. He probably could have worked better to at least start giving the population some awareness, but you know... --> He accepted the help of the Night Elves after getting infected, they bailed on him (again, going by the videos) --> Justified motives or not, Crowley did rebel and was going to do major damage to the city using CANNONS. The city was in a poor enough state, you can't just let a rebellion go by, much less not punish the central figure of that rebellion. --> His decision to evacuate the city was the right one, as well as the decision to free Crowley. --> Revealing his curse at the right moment helped him restore relations with the former rebels (and as a side bonus get rid of his most incompetent advisor) ---> He nearly successfully took back the city, though pretty much no one could succeed against scorched earth tactics. --> He joined the alliance and at least tried to learn from his mistakes So overall I just feel there is a big discrepancy between these titles and his actual actions/decisions.
That would be so badass actually. Just imagine that big Clocktower in the middle but with a dark Vampire-ish look to it and the city. I hope they do that at some point since gilneas right now isn't really used for anything.
I personally find it hard to believe that gilneas wasn't already conquered. The place got beaten and bruised, larger cities fell for lesser thrats than Guildeas, but i guess Blizzard forgot them just like they forgot the Worgen in general
tbh, Genn didn’t seem all that incompetent. just sometimes making the poorer of 2 reasonable choices. I mean, its not some paints on head thought to not want to pay for internment of orcs or to try to build a wall when a literal zombie apocalypse is starting. or to nope out of a voluntary alliance if you don’t see a reason for it.
Genn Greymane was and is on a patg to redemption ever since. They didnt really develop his character that frequently but over the years he started to be more down to earth, reasonable man than how he was back during the second war and onwards. He still is a bit of a self rigtheous bastard sometimes but he s growing more and more. He is a bit too furious but that is more because of the curse than anything else. Be certainly doesnt understand the value of peace as much as Anduin does or Varian did right before his death.

"Hello, how are you? I'm under the water. Please help me"
I'm 95% sure Platinum selectively picked this sponsor as an ultimate burn once Asmon comes back to streaming and reacting
I’m 95 percent sure Asmon will see this comment and say these exact words: “man what the fuck doooooood”

16:26 That war speech is fucking POWERFULLY delivered and beautifully shot, by far the best part of the video.
"we will return my son..."
And they never did! *Curb your enthusiasm starts playing*
The incompetency doesn't end there either. He messed up multiple times in Legion, and stood their like a baffoon when Anduin was kidnapped right in front of him.
Oh don’t be that harsh. He screamed at Sylvanas MENACINGLY too while his king was being kidnapped.
Honestly, considering the constant stream of bad luck, I respect the Worgen for surviving this long.
Too bad they still carry the furry stigmata
@@BeyondDaX Yeah, the main reason I am hesitant to play my Worgen characters. Damn furries >:(
You have the Tauren.

Afterward Genn was so hung up on his son, he completely neglected his daughter so she became an assassin and tried to become a Worgen to get his attention.
completely forgot he has a daughter too, did she play any role in the starting experience of Worgen?

@Dominatrix in Distress yogg saron freed was urgent check the ulduar trailer brann warn us about the menace of ulduar
@Dominatrix in Distress i feel yogg saron was wreaking some havoc but can't do much in northrend because too many undeads he can't control, the trolls where empowering themselves with the loas, and the magic dragons where too "wise" to be controlled by yogg so its pretty much limited to control the keepers and they have 2 dungeons and the ulduar raid so its seen fine to me
RIP the Gilnean's second home got burned down with the night elves, I just realized.
It's amazing that this entire story is just the worgen starting zone, this is truly the best starting zone in the game.

"Oi, you! You got a LOICENCE for being outside?"
*gets pwned by a worgen*
Liam's speech at the Battle for Gilneas gave me chills.
8:42 i almost died from laughing on this, great job.
If this outro music were played at the end of a movie in a cinema, I'd stay at my chair till I fall asleep. I really enjoyed those two parts. It was better than watching Netflix. Honestly.
For Gilneas!
RIP Liam Greymane, prince of Gilneas.

I remember way back when, that Godfrey had a death animation when he landed on the rocks. I don't know why they got rid of it and changed it to a fade out lmfao
Azeroth, a world, where plate armor can be enchanted, to be light enough, that you can swim in it... where the blood of an old god is used as an material to build a fortress, armor and weapons... but just wearing clothes, that are 1-2 sizes bigger than your usual size, so it fits, once you transform (and maybe use a durable material) is just too much to imagine :) .. funny video as usual
Keep doing this kind of content man so many don't know the lore of wow bcuz they don't read quests and this really helps bring it under the light....love your content
Dude, I got so worried about your radio silence. I started to wonder what happened to one of my favorite wow machinima makers. I have to admit that I have not played wow for years and the game itself does not interest me anymore, but I always enjoy watching your productions! Keep it up!
Follow him on twitter he posts production screenshots and dank memes
The worgen starting zone is one of the examples of blizzard story question done right, to this day i still just run through that quest chain just to do the story and then delete the character around lvl 13
Liams Speech is lowkey one of the best things i heared in wow period. If someone gave that Speech IRL i would run in Head first with no Hessitation whatsoever
Platinum Wow is the best WoW channel atm with a good balance of information and humor.
This is definitely for Asmon; especially the sponsor

Wonderful video!
And the music makes me so nostalgic.
Makes me wanna replay the Worgen starting zone with a new character.
I appreciate your sense for the pathos. The comedy is good, but acting out the emotions these characters are going through and conveying how important this history is for these fictional characters is why your Forest Troll video and this series are some of my favorites. You put real work in, and it shows, and it's worth it.
Seeing an army of clones of my paladin at 17:03 is a little unsettling.
16:30 Top tier speech
Liams Speech, the music, the battle.... Just Perfect!
kudos to you for almost making me tear up for some characters from a game i've never played.
I just came across a thought... if the abandoned part of the kingdome paid the taxes before the wall's construction... technically Genn built a wall and made them pay for it
"We did it father... we took back our city!.. we... took... back..."
"My lord, horde reinforcements are coming quickly, we need to retreat!"
I'm not crying, you're crying!
Sylvanas: "We will meet a-Genn"
Me: lol
The Worgen flashback about the garbage human jokes was golden
"How does a Tauren hide in a cherry tree? He paints his hooves red!" - Literally, would have saved me. Dad jokes are 10/10, the purest form of humor.
Absolutely compelling dialogue, bravo.
When Greymane shouts "SYLVANAS!!!"
It reminds me a lot of Guts screaming "GRIFFITH!!!"
Why is Liam Graymanes speech so good. Pure Churchhill.
Man that sponsor was such a dis without mentioning our malding savior.
The one that's coming back next week?
I loved this too much man... this makes me wish there was a WOW cinematic universe where we can watch every epic WOW story unfold just the way you show it in your vids.. Too amazing for words.
as a big troll and worgen fan, i feel personally targetted by platinumWoW
As a worgen fan...i dont. It isnt my fault our king was...less than effective.
I love the soundtrack for Gilneas, one of my favorites
This sponsor was directed to asmon and I know it lmfao
15:34 not even gonna lie, i never even noticed he jumped off the cliff, so seeing the scene played straight like this makes it even funnier.
Well done as always, Platinum WoW! Despite this being a well mockery at times of what Genn has done you did also a really fantastic job of showing just some epic moments with the character and the lore. Excited to see this carry forward in the future!
I love the worgen so much, their history and lore and the fact that they’re wolf men brings me so much joy
The only place in the world where I give a hoot about the lore is this one here, Platinum. Thank you so much for making this kind of evenings Into an aged well wine 🍷
One of my favorite elements of Cataclysm leveling is the fact that the story of Silverpine Forest takes place during the forsaken assault in the worgen starting zone. I love seeing that kind of parity in story telling
I have such a soft spot in my heart for this crusty starting zone. Liam's speech always gets me too. Seeing it all again lowkey makes me miss the game. Shame that starting zone itself is starting to fall apart mechanically.
Nice to understand wat went on during the worgen starting quests, thanks for content
It really sucks there wasnt a battle for Gilneas in BFA. I would of prefered that 100% over the old gods
Well, Azeroth has been rid of all old gods, right? I bet next expansion will expand on them not being around having positive effects. Maybe they'll even do something about that giant fucking sword sticking out of Azeroth.
@@NostraDavid2 ye, are u sure we got rid 9f the Old Gods?

These are so good! So much work and passion put in. We're lucky to have channels like these.
Ok Liam you gave a badass speech
Was that a Churchill speech?
I could be wrong but didn't the cataclysm hit first then the frosaken invaded.
They previously hadn't been able to because gilneas and reefs that blocked the ships but the cata removed them.
the mald lord will have a nice surprise when he returns with this sponsor
Horde player here. Loved the Gilnean questline. Great job Plat!!!
As the great lord Doge would say. The incompetence of his incompetence is so incompetent. Such wow....
11:00 - Wow. The leaders of Azeroth REALLY hate taking any sort of real responsibility for their actions or their people’s actions.

Best starter zone and beast race ever.
Me as a balding guy who tried everything and after years of insecurity im content with it and a bald head suits me. In my view you have 2 choices. 1: you spent money and energy to delay the inevitable or 2: you face it and accept that you become bald. Yeah people will joke about it or try to mock you but i got more positive feedback and I don't have to be insecure anymore.
I like the content tho haha
Probably the story of my favorite race in WoW. Very well done 2 part series.
Whenever asmon reacts to this...
Well, come on, we all know why plat did the sponsor he did.
I mean...he wasn't particular incompetent. After watching both videos like, his only really terrible decision was the wall (there were other bad decisions, like unleashing the worgen or letting in injured soliders who fought the worgen, but a lot of those decisions are only bad on hindsight)
---> He made a token effort to the alliance showing he wasn't totally abandoning them, but he didn't commit more soldiers than he needed to to ensure their victory, thus saving on his kingdom's resources, and the lives of his citizens.
--> When wastefulness of continuing an alliance was laid bare, he promptly pulled out
--> The wall like I said, probably a bad decision
--> He didn't unleash the worgen on a whim, at least by this retelling he really did feel like there was no choice but to release the worgen.
--> As the problem began growing out of hand, he began organizing hunting parties to quell their numbers.
--> With an effection going around the last thing you want is widespread panic. He probably could have worked better to at least start giving the population some awareness, but you know...
--> He accepted the help of the Night Elves after getting infected, they bailed on him (again, going by the videos)
--> Justified motives or not, Crowley did rebel and was going to do major damage to the city using CANNONS. The city was in a poor enough state, you can't just let a rebellion go by, much less not punish the central figure of that rebellion.
--> His decision to evacuate the city was the right one, as well as the decision to free Crowley.
--> Revealing his curse at the right moment helped him restore relations with the former rebels (and as a side bonus get rid of his most incompetent advisor)
---> He nearly successfully took back the city, though pretty much no one could succeed against scorched earth tactics.
--> He joined the alliance and at least tried to learn from his mistakes
So overall I just feel there is a big discrepancy between these titles and his actual actions/decisions.
How would Gilneas as a Forsaken capital look like? I'd like to see it
Just look at any other forsaken city. Only with more buildings and such.
@@BeyondDaX I meant how it would look like in the story not appearance, we all know it would look cool af
That would be a cool what if scenario.
I mean, its not some paints on head thought to not want to pay for internment of orcs or to try to build a wall when a literal zombie apocalypse is starting. or to nope out of a voluntary alliance if you don’t see a reason for it.
if cata was released in 2021, people would be complaining that they were trying to redeem genn greymane
Nah, you're salty about something, what is it?
Genn Greymane was and is on a patg to redemption ever since. They didnt really develop his character that frequently but over the years he started to be more down to earth, reasonable man than how he was back during the second war and onwards. He still is a bit of a self rigtheous bastard sometimes but he s growing more and more. He is a bit too furious but that is more because of the curse than anything else. Be certainly doesnt understand the value of peace as much as Anduin does or Varian did right before his death.
@@dreamermagister8561 I think Genn is a good character despite all the utter vitriol against him. I hope to see more of his character in the future
Recently made a worgen alt because i felt like it. When the line "We will return, I swear it." I was like annnnnd then you never did. Some fatherly love you have there...
Let's not forget the true gem in Genn's hat, attacking the Horde fleet at Stormheim during the middle of a demonic invasion.
Don't forget what the horde was doing in Stormheim. Genn kinda saved the day there.
@@Krosis29 By attacking the entire Horde fleet with one airship, resulting in hundreds of lost lives from both sides which probably resulted in the Legion getting a foothold in Stormheim...But sure.
While playing Legion that always annoyed the hell out of me. "Oh Genn learned, oh Genn this, oh Genn that" but then he attacks the people they are supposed to work with because they "abandoned" them during the first attack, where Varian died, without asking "Why?" even once.
