The fact that Rexxar is an aloof wanderer is what makes him great. He's looking out for himself. A self-imposed exile living quietly off the land. I remembered being so excited when I first saw Rexxar in Outland! I loved playing as him in Warcraft 3 and it was like meeting an old friend again after so many years!
What makes this more funny is, when they were making the Hunter Trees Rexxar wasn't even the first choice for the Survival background art. (Was some Troll lady, idk if they're named)
it's crazy that Rexxar is actually ... so old :D I always thought idk, he's like maybe 5-10 years older than Thrall Rexxar is like Aragorn, he's 80 but look like 40 :D
I rewatched the naga axe to the face scene like 10 times expecting it to be the only such scene, it was hilarious. But no, Platinum went above and beyond and added more and more and more. Great work.
"Taste the steel of Mogrin's axe!" I love how the Hearthstone retelling of Rexxar's story used that exact line from Warcraft 3. There's just something so novel about the existence of Mogrin. Back in Warcraft 3, it was rare for very minor characters to even have names. And when they do, they are typically quest-givers for optional quests that don't add much to the main plot of the campaigns and aren't even referenced at all in WoW or other Warcraft-related media. Mogrin is kinda special. He was introduced in a cutscene, and died in that same cutscene. And he is just some grunt. He isn't like the other named non-hero units in the game like Captain Falric (who was only named in the campaign in Reforged), or Nazgrel, or Shandris who were important figures in their factions. He is just a low-ranking member of the Horde. And yet, he gets to have a name. And he technically was the catalyst for the entire story of the Bonus Campaign to be set in motion. And the way Rexxar treated Mogrin in his final moments is just a great way to portray what kind of guy Rexxar is because for most people, the opening cutscene of the Bonus Campaign is their first encounter with Rexxar so the writers had to give a good introduction to that campaign's protagonist.
Melee Hunter was indeed a thing back then, it just didn't have a dedicated spec. Hunters had melee specific abilities and also had a range requirement for their ranged attacks and abilities. If an enemy was too close to you you were forced to use melee attacks/abilities because your ranged stuff would be unusable. They actually had a deadzone too, where the enemy would be too far for melee and too close for ranged, making the Hunter unable to attack them. This was pretty important for PvP.
@@maxpowers4436 Who plays melee hunter in a raid?Who even plays survival unless it's pvp?Even back in Classic,Survival/Melee spec is overlooked and underdeveloped.

It's cool in tbc we can go back to his hometown which survived the ravages of the corrupted orcs and burning legion, to see the orcs in their original way in their homelands.
Thank you @Platinum WoW for making such great lore videos. Far away from the World First pushes and solo shuffle queues, it is the story of the warcraft universe that got us into the game in the first place. I'm glad it continues
Hubby had played the Warcraft campaigns before the MMO and I never ceased to be amazed at the amount of lore that just came out of him while playing WoW, which is a shame, because you really only get fragments in-game otherwise. I was told the story of Rexxar long ago during a miserable Saturday afternoon hunt for him on the Ony chain. Hubby is still my go-to for lore, but your presentation was far more entertaining! Rexxar was always interesting to me, he was so unique and was one of the highlights during my horde playthrough of BFA
And of course you always are such a great storyteller so getting this video makes me so happy
Rexxar and Zek’han are also featured in the Exploring Azeroth: Kalimdor book. Not much information, but minor interesting tidbits :).
YES, THE BEST HALF-OGRE HALF-ORC FINALLY GETS THE ATTENTION HE DESERVES!
🚀Let’s Talk
I got a s something for you
When I think about the warcraft universe, Rexxar is the one that pops into my head immediately, he feels like the embodiment of it. Always cool to see him when leveling. My fav character.
Main universe Blackhand does have an ingame model (but not unique) - he is found in Karazahan at chess event
19:53 oh my god it's so good to hear the voice of Big Bobby Baratheon. aka Mark Addy again. The man was perfect to play Robert Baratheon and a young Robert Baratheon would be perfect as Admiral Proudmoore!
Outstanding! This is how you tell a story.
I remembered being so excited when I first saw Rexxar in Outland! I loved playing as him in Warcraft 3 and it was like meeting an old friend again after so many years!
You did amazing with the editing. You took long but worth watching.

What makes this more funny is, when they were making the Hunter Trees Rexxar wasn't even the first choice for the Survival background art. (Was some Troll lady, idk if they're named)
He should have been the beast master one, considering he was a beast master with like 5 pets
Thank you so much for posting. I can't get enough of your content!
it's crazy that Rexxar is actually ... so old :D I always thought idk, he's like maybe 5-10 years older than Thrall
Rexxar is like Aragorn, he's 80 but look like 40 :D
I rewatched the naga axe to the face scene like 10 times expecting it to be the only such scene, it was hilarious. But no, Platinum went above and beyond and added more and more and more. Great work.
Rexxar's bonus campaign is the first thing i ever played in warcraft and that is what made me fall in love with the game and horde :) For the horde!
Ahh finally Plat back with another video. Was getting worried there for a bit.
"Taste the steel of Mogrin's axe!"
I love how the Hearthstone retelling of Rexxar's story used that exact line from Warcraft 3.
So, Rexxar was so badass that even tho melee hunter wasnt a thing back then, he still beat a warrior in 1v1 without his pet.
@@arstulex thank you I think no one here played classic and knows about this you should spread the word my brother
Wtf does melee hunter was not a thing back then mean?
@@maxpowers4436 Who plays melee hunter in a raid?Who even plays survival unless it's pvp?Even back in Classic,Survival/Melee spec is overlooked and underdeveloped.
Rexxar is my favourite character, just because of his theme music during warcraft 3... favourite music, still plays in the escape from durnholde dungeon
What an amazing video, loved it, make more, you make the Lore so much more interesting. Fyi: when I got to 13:30 the editing with Misha, the bear, I died of laughter, so good :)))
Rexxar is just a type of character you can not hate. His story was my favourite in WC3. I hope they will bring him back in Dragonflight.
A character blizz forgot. Lucky guy
Love Rexxar. He’s my hero ever since I played Warcraft III (original, before Reforged). He’s a true warrior, hero with whom I identified always. Thank you for making this video
One of my best heroes of HotS. If you ignore how many dead Misha it took me to get there.

love it. Rexxar is my favorite character from wc3 and i remember playing is misions .then in wow i play an orc hunter for him as well as hearthstone ,there he get the joke of always aiming to the head, as face is the place.
You didn't mention how he apparently tamed an army of Thunder Lizards off screen.
Loved playing this story in the original WC3, was so awesome. Glad to see him used a bunch on the expansions but really wish he was involved more with the story.
The batman of WoW.
He is!
Black Mask from Fire and Ice. Search it. 😉
I would love for a return to Outland expansion in which we get Moknathal as playable yess YEEES
I would like to add that Horde pushed for the north not because of an endless bloodlust alone. Doomhammer had a solid plan.
"SHUT UP" throws axe. Never have i seen such a master negotiator. 👏👏
Such a fan of the Animations, and story telling. Great work mate. If requests can be made. The war of the ancients has always fascinated me, but its details are many, and evasive.
I teared up when he killed his wolf. God damnit. That wolf is the real mvp
Thank you so much! This is my favorite warcraft character in all of the lore. The whole reason I play hunter is because of this legend. It's awesome to see a in-depth lore video on him. You rock!
I love how you always find a way to slide in those ridiculous human /silly lines lmao
You have no idea how much this made my day. It literally made me feel like a kid again watching Saturday morning cartoons, thanks again.
I wanted this for so long. Still mad Rexxar and his team never got the attention they deserve during MoP and BFA
Top notch voice acting!! This is what Blizzard needs. A return to old-fashioned storytelling
The voicing is amazing, sooo fukin good
Well yeah, Rexxar's voiced by Matt Mercer. He's amazing!
@@saikanji9570 It really sounds like Matt's Rexxar here though haha. Did they get him to say these lines for the vid? Are they from something else where he did say these lines? It was very well done regardless.
Hahah what? This type of comment is so blizzare. The voice lines are from Rexxar book of heroes playthrough...... from the game Hearthstone and the dialogue Platanium voice is from a Warcraft book aka its literally blizzard old fashioned story telling. You types always get cheap shots in even when you are wrong.
@@montgomerym5407 No its from a game. Hearthstone to be exact.
Amazing quality, really impressive stuff. Both animations, VA and script is just lovely. Love it mate.
Finally the legend returned
Great vid, love the subtle reference of Rexxar throwing his axe cuz he used to have a thunderbolt spell before the eagle summon.
Rexxar is the reason my Mag'har Survival Hunter (who I off spec as both beast and Marksman whenever the mood arises) Is the way he is now... For the Horde and the Iron that makes up its bonds!
This has to be by far my favorite lore video of yours, especialy since Rexxar's one of my fav character's in the Worldcraft universe. Keep it up the good work my guy
Rexxar is such a good guy

Man when I was but a boy, young and full of hope. I remember completing Frozen throne, or I thought I had completed it. There as Arthus now sat upon the frozen throne as the Lich King, there I saw a new campaign ... Rexxar's campaign. And ho boi did I ever love it, played it so much had so much fun and just loved to come back to it. It was great. I always loved the guy and Misha was best friend!
Did somebody mention Rexxar?
Came here looking for your comment
Platinum could legit make a WoW mini movie and I would watch the fuck out of it. I was so immersed in the Rexxar scenes.
Both a curse and a blessing Blizzard hasn't focused on Rexxar for all these years
Rexxar was always one of the coolest characters in wow, as an ally player I always respected his character arc from the Horde. It's cool in tbc we can go back to his hometown which survived the ravages of the corrupted orcs and burning legion, to see the orcs in their original way in their homelands.
Can't wait to rewatch with Asmongold reaction
I remember seeing him in vanilla in Desolace, wandering, . Was almost as epic as reaching Ironforge as Night Elf for the first time.
You should cover queen azshara
Her VA is perfect
Thank you @Platinum WoW for making such great lore videos. Far away from the World First pushes and solo shuffle queues, it is the story of the warcraft universe that got us into the game in the first place. I'm glad it continues
Let the hunt begin!
I’m acting on instinct.
Thank you!
Rexxar is my favorite WoW character. We both love animals and nature and live by the motto "Don't start none, won't be none" 🤣
I'm that one guy that's always played a melee hunter 😁
I love that Rexxar and Jaina are voiced my Matt Mercer and Laura Bailey. Automatically gives them quite some chemistry.
