Channel Update
Hi. The WoW/Blizzard community has been shook for the past couple of weeks. People have asked what my plan is going forward.
I am a person who is very passionate about the art of storytelling/filmmaking and machinima is a great way to explore this hobby that *no* other game can replicate. In WoW I have a giant world and thousands of assets that I can use as my canvas to tell stories that I care a lot about and quite frankly, that is badass. I also feel like a lot of WoW’s stories have not been told in a satisfying, straight forward manner and I want to give these stories the justice they deserve because I think they are phenomenal.
I’m here to tell the lore in the Warcraft Universe that screams “Warcraft” and that isn’t changing.
I’ve attached a fundraiser to this video for the RAINN charity which helps victims of sexual assault. This charity was recommended to me by the Blizzard employees who organized the #ActiBlizzWalkout . I will be personally donating $500 and the goal is $2,500. Thank you for continuing to put out high quality WoW content. There’s a lot of negativity in the community right now (much of which is justified) but it’s nice to have an escape from that for people like me who still find the game, its worlds, and its stories, inspiring and entertaining.

Rise of The Horde = *Draenei Genocide by Orcs*
Warlords of Draenor and BfA!Maghar Orc Questline = *UNO REVERSE CARD*
The Mag'har Orc questline is honestly one of the best pre-unlock allied race quest chains. Sure the expansion sucked but this was an interesting bit of lore and informs us that no, it wasn't a happily ever after, I was kinda hoping we would see Grom come to the main timeline but unfortunately not, he and alternate Lantresor defended the Mag'har while they escaped.
It's also pretty interesting that you get a book at the end of the quest chain that mentions Grom had a son which means there's now an alternate Garrosh.
I'm not really interested in playing WoW (especially not these days), but I'm a sucker for good lore videos
and Plat's vids are one of, if not the best
same, Platinum's videos lately have been totally BANGERS

@@quchi7232 may sound weird, but Destiny has actually good lore. Its all a bit mystical, but pretty nice nonetheless. A lot of tragedy, not everyone you fight is just evil etc
@@quchi7232 The Elder Scrolls have great lore, in a setting that is not exactly child friendly. Also, it has actual werewolves and vampires (along with other monsters, races and dieties).

@@stumpe9662 I don’t think it’s implied that they were controlling Sargeras, maybe just sped up his fall by revealing the void to him but he theoretically would’ve reached that conclusion eventually

I just started watching his lore videos and came to this intricate several parter and I chose to search the comments specifically for mentions of part 2 of the rise of the horde to know if it's on hold or cancelled or what.
Regular lore in a nutshell
Gul'dan: "My plan is flawless nothing could go wrong!"
Demons: "Hello we are here to ruin your plan and consume your flesh and give your skull to our masters."
Gul'dan: "DANG IT!"
WoD Lore in a nutshell
Gul'dan: "My plan is going flawlessly! Soon the demon blood will strengthen!"
Garrosh: "Hey, I'm here to commandeer your plan for my own and make the mistake of not killing you now and rather use you as a battery to fuel my Iron Horde."
Gul'dan: "Dang it! I damn you to get used as a battery for an army at the expense of extreme torture when you die!"
Garrosh: "Oddly specific but whatevs..."

I love how Gul'dan never even considered, the demons doublecrossing him. It is almost comical, during the Book of Heroes, where Gul'dan trys to find the Eye of Sargeras, and is attacked by demons in the tomb, and Gul'dan asks why the demons attack him.
With Cho'gall pretty much answering: "Maybe the demons were lying."
And then he is still suprised, that Sargeras has betrayed him.

@@josynaemikohler6572 No no, Gul'dan *betrayed* the Legion by abandoning the Horde besieging Lordaeron thus ensuring Alliance victory. Gul'dan raised the Tomb of Sargeras, not to aid the Legion, but to try and consume Sargeras and whatever artifacts laying inside the tomb. That's why the demons destroyed him and turned him into a sentient, demonic lava-lamp. I recommend listening to the Tomb of Sargeras audio drama, where Kil'jaeden confirms all this when talking to AU Gul'dan.
@@metal_monocle7334No better way to piss off Archimonde and Kil'Jaeden than running away. Illidan and Ner'Zhul both found that out the hard way.
Platinum please include the culling of the Arakkoa from the Spires of Arak in the next video, it gives the Shattered Hand clan some attention and I think it's a really interesting story
make an entire video about the Arakkoa; the "Trolls" of Draenor who had worshipped Wild Gods, rose to prominence as the dominant species of their world only to fall from grace.

The interaction between Velen and Kil’Jaden used early in the video is one of the best interactions they’ve ever made, you can just feel the lore in their delivery
Finally covering the best story in Warcraft Lore. Rise of the Horde is my favorite book. This should have been the first WoW movie.
B-bu-but you don't understand! How could Hollywood possibly make a movie without humans talking for 40 minutes or humans being involved at all?! How else would you get 3 minute scenes of awkward talk about fucking a half breed? I mean come on, how can you ask them to tell a story with no humans, the writers only write what they know

I doubt any of Platinum's videos draws people to modern WoW. All of his content relates to vintage times of this game.

Amazing well done once again, Platinum! The Orc and the Draenei lore is beyond my favorite in Warcraft and you did an excellent job of telling it! Nice use of the voice lines from both WoD and Legion for the characters! And the visuals in this were even better than the last! Great job!

The music playing during the paladin's flashback to his childhood with his sister set the mood. Comedy is good but its serious emotional moments like that which makes me love this channel

Thank you Plat, a lot of people needed this right now. While there are certainly flaws in it - the lore and the universe are distinctly Warcraft, and that is something that is hard to replicate elsewhere. There is so much interesting lore, and a lot of interesting stories to be told - and I hope we can appreciate that in a way that is respectful to everyone that has worked on it over the years, whilst supporting those making their voices heard now. I just hope the company can get their act together so that the lore keeps flowing, but from a safer environment. Fantastic video as always, Plat. You constantly outdo yourself - which is no easy feat, and I see that very few comments here take that for granted. Thank you again, Plat!

I gotta say that guldan is easily my favorite character in wow lore. To be that evil and petty, to sell your race into demonic slavery for power is most likely the most evil character ever. Not just evil, pure evil.
Wow this video is so freaking good! Your videos are really the only ones that have made sense to me (I started playing WOW about a 1-2 years ago) because it's otherwise insanely complicated and overwhelming. And your jokes are perfect, for example I love the derpy draenei face at 19:54 haha.
I am absolutely amazed at the quality of these videos. Your own made cinematics are honestly up there, if not better than some of those straight out of Blizzard themselves. I can only imagine how many hours you grind into one of these videos and god knows youtube does not reward such effort sufficiently. True sign of true passion. Thank you again!

To be fair, once Draenei landed on Draenor it was them or the orcs. In Rise of the Horde, it's noted that all the worlds Velen and company visited were later visited by Kil'jaeden and either exterminated or corrupted added to the Legion and that the Legion will find them eventually,
So by exterminating the Draenei Kil was satisfied and didn't even bother to add orcs to the Legion since he believed Velen was killed and there was no point (from the book the reason for abandoning the orcs is not noted, I think it's in chronicles that Sargearas told him to leave them dry and desperate for Azeroth invasion)
Edit: Also Gul'dan in the original version wasn't on the Legions payroll from the start but rather sold out his master Ner'zhul and later the entire orc race when Kil'jaeden decided to replace Ner'zhul as his puppet (which feels way more evil and fitting for the meanie he became than just "resentful cripple who wanted vengeance")
True, OT Gul was better written but blizz loves to change the lore over and over again and with the mediocre writers they now have it's always for the worse.
@@GrandAdmThrawn I always liked the original Gul'dan more than the Draenor one. and in HoTS the IS a difference: OT Gul'dan is frail but not a cripple while ALT one is a cripple and resentful of everyone. I pick the OT Gul'dan as the original and the alternate one as the Draenor one.
Chronicles just were focused on the story and characters were used as to prop up the story rather than used established characters to tell it (everything Gul'dan did COULD have been cannon after he sold out Ner'zhul, to further drive the orcs to kill Draenei, even softies like Durotan and any clan hesitant)

In my opinion, the draenei have some of the best lore in the franchise with their deep ties with the burning legion. I am so happy you covered this, and I ABSOLUTELY LOVED seeing maraad mourn over his sister. It isn't for lore or anything, but just that little scene makes the massacre of the blade wind clan so much more intense and dramatic. Thank you so much for these videos, the effort and time you put into these really show!
