The Blacrock Clan is named after the ore they harvested.
Blackrock Clan members who drank the demon blood turned green, some more than others.
Blackrock Mountain's name was only a coincedence, but the Blackrock Clan saw it as a fortuitous sign that this place shared the same name as them.
Blackrock Mountain's firey depths restored some of the Blackrock Orc's grey skin.
Hope that clarifies a few things.

Actually, Azerothian Blackrock Mountain (there was a Draenor one on some maps) was named by the Dark Irons for obvious reasons (it is a mountain, it is made of rock, and it is black) after Ragnaros made it. The Blackrock Clan noticed this neat coincidence, thought it a good omen, and took the upper part over. They never got the lower half.

I like the *Laughing Skull* clan a lot. They're just really wild, unpredictable and like to shake things up. Some of the more specific reasons they're my favorite are because:
    1. They're filled with more assassins than other clans because of their treacherous and thieving nature.
    2. They have these awesome bone masks. _I love masks_ .
    3. They're apparently unequaled in their skill and audacity---and are considered dangerous and brutal even by the other clans' standards.
    4. They had Mogor the ogre mage as their chieftan for a long time instead of another orc. Props for being different.
    5. Before the retcons, they had Medivh's spellbook and held a truce with the Alliance during their expedition in Beyond The Dark Portal.

Hence stuff like an entire clan of warriors (the whole gladiators for imperialistic ogres wasn't invented until much later) literally *cutting off their hands* to replace them with blades. Totally useless, making the warrior less effective in every way assuming they didn't just die from sepsis, but METAL AS FUCK IT GOES IN THE GAME, BOYS!

The Readwalker Clan was elaborated on more in the Durotan book set in the movie's continuity. They were an orc clan that rejected Gul'dan's invitation to join the Horde as Draenor was dying. They got their new name as Red Walkers by painting themselves in the blood of their kills, leaving it to harden and cake on their bodies as an intimidation tactic. Eventually, the Red Walkers turned towards eating the Draenei and later fellow orcs to survive. It happened by accident, according to the chieftain of the Red Walkers. They happened to kill a traveling group of Draenei and started painting themselves in the draenei blood as they were used to. One orc got some blood in his mouth, and found it tasted good. When the world is coming to an end, meat is meat.

Tir, for whom Tirisfal is named is just a copy paste of the Germanic god Tyr (aka Tiw/Ziu/Teiwaz). Except in Warcraft he lost his hand to a dragon instead of the wolf Fenrir. Also, the world tree of Telldrassil is a copy paste of the norse world tree Yggdrassil.

I always assumed the “Samurai” orcish clan were taught ancient Pandaren knowledge, and that’s how they could make copies of themselves, and why they’re kind of like monks mixed with warriors? I’m really surprised Blizzard never made this connection.

    • @Mediados

They are not really considered as Orcs by the other Clans. Orcs as well as Ogres regard them with suspicion because they live a rather sheltered and remote life with only little contact to outsiders. I think Rexxar is actually one of the only ones who made contact with others outside of his clan before The Burning Crusade.

It's a shame people only remember the stories that exist in the WoD timeline, and people have forgotten the stories of the real clans in the main timeline. For example in our main timeline, on Azeroth, the Shattered Hand clan had nothing to do with Kargath or dismemberment.

    • @kkarall5060
      @kkarall5060 3 роки тому +3

Shattered hand was always founded and led by kargath. It says in the Warcraft 2 manual that he is their leader. And all the shattered hand orcs in outland in the burning crusade have their hands replaced with blades. So it was at least that early that they made the lore to be that all shattered hand clan members cut their hands off.

Blackrock and Frostwolf Clans are probably my favorite. If the Dwarven and Orcish smiths of Ironforge and Blackrock joined forces in the name of creating, they could make some really cool shit.
Frostwolf clan just seems super cool lore wise omg. Its like being a Spartan but also in tune with their environment and stuff. If I ever role a Orc which probably won't happen because Forsaken for life but definitely going to be part of the Frostwolf Clan headcanon wise.
