Same! The Mistress of Mystery side quest is probably my favorite in the entire run of 3D titles. It was on par with the Survivalist from New Vegas. And Huntersville is great, too, as finding all the pieces isn’t hard & makes you want more info.
Fallout 76s FEV is probably the same as Fallout 1s FEV as the West-Tek facility in the Glow/Dayglow is of similar scale to the West-Tek Facility in West Virginia. Theres also the matter of Floaters and other FEV spawn created through experimentation under similar conditions which the Master would later use on the west coast.
Honestly your videos keep getting better. All these deep lore stories of Fallouts pre-war America are already tragic, horrificly so, but we become desensitized to them during playthroughs due to the vast quantities of abhorrent behaviour we learn about. Thanks to the tone of your videos it helps to remind us of just how heinous these events are. Your calm and matter-of-fact voice along with the music are a magnificent combination when doing these lore based videos. Incredible work as always. Ad Victoriam Scribe Norte.
Fantastic video and really explains a lot, it's a shame Bethesda missed out on exploring this lore a bit more in game. There's a whole Huntersville sewer system in the game files and it would have been great to learn a bit more of how West Tek poisoned the locals with the sewer and water treatment system.
👏your 1 of my favorite UA-camrs and I think you would be a good quest guide/law teller some of us love little details we missed in small quest and think you would make this a good idea for a video
reminds me of the TVA and their efforts to electrify and modernize Appalachia in our timeline. pretty sure the parallels are deliberate and someone definitely did their research. well done Bethesda, now THIS is how social commentary is done. for those of you unaware of what im babbling on about, research the Tennessee Valley Authority
What I absolutely love about Fallout is its accurate portrayal of government, and of the men who are "just doing their job", no matter how terrible it gets theyre loyal to a tyrant until the end.
@@charlesoliviera Don't listen to the haters. The game is good, especially before high-level end game content. Bit more unstable than 4, not much buggier than previous games, I personally didn't encountered game-breaking bugs for a year or so, just small ones. I honestly wish Norte would leave subtitles on in-game for that specific reason, then he wouldn't have to manually type subtitles nor would the hearing impaired have to rely on UA-cams drunk caption system.
so is the FEV contagious? is it like traditional viruses? I'm guessing not, since people interact with/fight super mutants up close without hazmat gear and don't turn into mutants themselves.
In short, no. Wes-tech put it in their water supply to infect the town, everything else was just to keep up theatrics and convince the town it was an infectious disease.
@@jayl5032 I gotta say, the strangest thing in 76 is that you can gather the goo from the FEV vats in the Wes-Tech labs and drink it. It's commonly used by bloody players (like myself) to keep health low as the respawn health is too high to proc nerd rage.
@@multihacker3695 I think the goo in the vats has been either neutralized or just killed off by the radiation, as FEV and Radiation do NOT mix well typically.
Can u maybe make a vid about all the death soldiers scathered around appalacia bc really wanna know were they al are and why they there bc there ar allot of dead soldiers and militairy vichels in game but not a real good explanation for some of them
I’m personally a fan of super mutants, I like the idea of forcefully mutated people in the wasteland, plus it adds a threat besides radioactive mutants and human raiders. Plus 76 did add unique FEV mutants like the grafton monster and possibly some of the other cryptids were also FEV mutants
Bro, even New Vegas added mutants even though it's been over a 100 years since the Master's defeat and seemingly no new mutants have been created on the West Coast. At least Bethesda gives a reason and justification as to why there are so many mutants.
SuperMutants are Fallout's Golden Cow of unique enemies. I do agree though, hopefully the next game won't have them. They were suppose to be a rare occurrence, but now they're as common as a cold.
Unpopular opinion: Despite N_orte narrating it brilliantly and making it sound better than it actually is, I think the excuse of F76 to introduce super mutants in the game (which I consider almost pure fan service) is one of the worst things of the game. I mean, it takes away the Master's record in creating super mutants from the lore. It also doesn't sit quite right with Vault 87's experiments rundown. Like, a military grade facility had difficulties in creating super mutants by injecting them with FEV, and Huntersville inhabitants get thirsty and bam, super mutants. I find it just shallow. I mean, the incident aftermath storytelling is kinda good, but I find myself unable to not hate the premises.
Lol canon isn't decided by you bud, and no matter how much you hate it 76's canonicity is completely up to Bethesda and there's no good reason for them to make it non-canon. So suck it up and deal with it.
I just really enjoy the way FO76 does it's storytelling. The tale of the Huntersville Experiments is one of my favourites. Hope you enjoyed :)

It’s likely a different yet similar strain
The FEV strain of Apalacchia may be the source of the FEV experiments done by the Institute on the Commonwealth.
