Did you know that in the UK, American kids cereal (e.g. Lucky Charms) has to be sold as a sweet treat rather than breakfast because of the amount of sugar in it?
My brother and sister-in-law have lived in Japan for many years. The stores there don't sell any sugary cereals. The only stuff they could get was Honey Nut Cheerios and things like that. No Lucky Charms, no Cap'n Crunch, no Frosted Flakes.
Kashi Lean cereal is good. It is healthy, non-GMO, and it has more realistic serving sizes than many other cereals, like Cocoa/Fruity/Peanut Butter & Cocoa Pebbles, Casptain Crunch, etc.
I ask myself where was this information when we all were kids. Second you don’t have to give up the foods you enjoy just cut the amount, eat the capt one in a blue just excuse and replace the capt with a healthy option. I eat the capt when I have a craving that’s like in a whole one maybe twice a year a strong maybe
Please do a video comparing vegan/vegetarian fake meats (veggie ground, tvp, veggie burgers and so on) I love to learn more about the good and the bad. Thanks again for this highly informative video!!!! Love your channel .
yes please do this!! i definitely need to find out what are some healthier fake meat brands as i do know a lot of them contain unnatural/bad ingredients x
Lydia C - just look at the ingredients on the label. There are loads of different options for patties and sausage/hot dog shapes of vegan/vegetarian food. You don’t have to get soy, there are other beans.... plus nutritious grains and veg. I don’t have any trouble with soy protein isolate or wheat protein isolate or concentrate and actually digest those better than whole soy or wheat, something else in wheat bothers me. So that’s not a deal breaker for me although I would rather not overdose on soy. Morningstar Farms is often in mainstream groceries but they use an awful lot of egg white (the worst part of the egg for me, I’m allergic). But more recently they’ve been doing more actually vegan (egg and dairy free) stuff. Their vegan beef and chicken strips in the meal starter line are good for making things like meatless chicken salad (but chopped up garbanzo beans work as well, I make a no-tuna tuna salad from them). I tried their new even more overpriced vegan quarter pounder patties- I really like the meat lovers one, but just eat half a burger at a time because it’s too high in protein and calories for me in a single meal. I didn’t love their veggie lovers one, though. It was ok but meh. You just have to try the different varieties, look at ingredients, and look at the nutritional info to check for what matches your own needs. I really like Qrunch products, which use other grains (especially my fave millet) and quinoa. Their toaster sticks are wonderful but their patties are pretty good also. I like Tofurky products usually, but read the label to see if you object to anything. Their deli slices are nice for sandwiches or quick snacks by themselves or salads. Gardein beefless tips and porkless BBQ pockets are favorites of mine. Louisville Vegan jerkies are soft and can be easily used in sandwiches and casseroles (my fave is the maple bacon flavor, they are soy-based). Boca has a really good vegan burger and also an American Classic that includes a little cheese inside it. I like Loma Linda (in cans) for hot dogs and Redi-burger (I slice the ground beef like Redi-Burger into patties while pushing them out of the can from the back). Patties are a versatile shape since they can be used for sandwiches but also can be broken up for any other kind of dish. There are loads of other brands I can get mailorder (no car, otherwise I know I could get a lot at Kroger’s or Meijer’s). Browsing at veganessentials.com can show you the variety available. Prices are always so high that this limits me pretty easily from overeating any of this... I have to eat mainly vegan due to allergies as well as being vegetarian, and you definitely do not need to buy any of this stuff to have a good diet. They are just convenient. You can also get recipes to make your own meatless patties and sausages and then you have complete control over the ingredients. The results can easily be shaped into patties and individually frozen, just as I always do with the commercial stuff. If you like the taste of sausages, you can actually buy the spices used for convenience.
Mind Over Munch Those Uncle Sam's cereals with your own dried fruit are amazing! I've also used powdered freeze dried fruit for flavor dusting. I still like them plain just fine though--even my 7 and 4 year olds do!
You guys have been requesting this video for so long, I hope you enjoy! Thumbs up for these types of educational videos! What other topics do you want to see? Love you!
Hi. once again a very good video with a critical topic well explained! I dont know about you but when I read ingredients lists I always watch out for palm oil and it is horryfying where all it is in- it is a mass product really hardcorely damaging the rainforest. Now I also saw palmoil on some of your cereal boxes and remembered. It would be nice if u maybe used your big community and mentioned something about this harmkess seeming ingredient. I could tell you stories about the weirdest things I found palm oil in, like dried herbs:'D yeah. I really support you and you inspire me as you know! would be happy if u mentioned "my problem":)
I'm investigating the best guide for developing 6 packs quickly and found a fantastic resource at Toms Magic Shortcut (google it if you are interested)
I had a coworker who, at the time, was 32 years old and she loved Lucky Charms. She used to ask everyone to give her coupons from the Sunday Paper for Lucky Charms cereal.
+Lex Went Vegan i guess because im an adult and non of my friends or roommates throughout the years have ever bought cereal it was usually just me 😂 my family doesnt even eat cereal
I love these videos so much. I bet they are so much work but they are so so so so SOOOO cool to watch. You should have a show on TV just researching different foods like this. It reminds me of a mix between How It's Made and Good Eats. Way to go girl! Keep up the good work!!
I am so glad that in Europe companies are required to put all the stats per 100 gramm. It's sooo much more easy to compare products when you always have calories/carbs/sugar/fat and stuff per 100 gramm. Some companies choose to add stats for a serving size but since that is not regulated it's stupid anyway. It also makes calculating more easy. "Ups, I got 35 grams of the honey smacks instead of 27 Grams." --> way easier if you have the amount of 100 g on hand.
Great!!! An absolutely informative, and attention getting- keeping presentation/ performance. Of course as a child and sometimes as a young adult I knew it was sweet and tasty but didn't focus too much on
Whoooooa this was a SUPER informative video!! I bet you loved having all these cereals to chow on for the next few months now XD I used to LOOOOVE Golden Grahams and French Toast Crunch! I have no idea if they're vegan. My current treat is the Whole Foods brand of peanut butter chocolate ball puff things. But normally I go for Nature's Path Flaxseed flakes :) I have no idea if they pass the test though.
Nicholas Giordano I really, really love steel cut oats. I bake a big pot in the oven & toast the oats for a few minutes on the stove top before I mix it all together & let me tell you, it really kicks the oatmeal up a few notches. It kind of gives it a similar taste to Honey Smacks :D (I also throw a little bit of plain greek yogurt in to make it creamy & it also helps me hit my protein goal for the day!)
@@MindOverMunch only halfway decent one is Honey Nut Cheerios and even that has too much sugar. Just plain Cheerios, add fruit and have an actual healthy cereal !
I'm not sure if in the US you have Weetabix, but in the UK we do, and it's my favourite healthy cereal! It's only got 1.7g of sugar per serving, the first ingredient is wholegrain wheat, the ingredients list is 4, the serving size is normal and there are 3.8g of fibre per serving in it too!
I gotta give it to you i never watched any video longer than 5 minutes to it's full but i literally watched your video for 15:45 full just because of few things: Your Voice Presentation Style Unbiased Review ThankYou for all the info ☺
Mind Over Munch i would appreciate if you help me with this. These are the nutrition facts of my local cereal brand that is very popular in our country just wanna know is this right to eat or should i move to another cereal? CORN FLAKES INGREDIENTS: Corn Semolina, Malt Extract, Sugar & Salt. NUTRITIONAL VALUES Typical Value Per 100g Energy360KcalTotal Fat1.75gSaturated fat0.15gCholesterol0 mgCarbohydrate79.4gFibre, total dietary3.58gSugar, total8gProtein6.65gThiamin0.5mgRiboflavin0.34mgNiacin3.27mgIron4.24mgMagnesium30mg I know you said sugar to be under 5g but in some videos people saying anything under 9g is good and now I'm confused.
I also like to indulge in sugary cereal once in a while! Although, I purchase my sweet cereal from Trader Joe’s so I know I’m not getting artificial flavors or colors in my food like I will often find in regular cereal. I enjoy the vanilla clusters cereal from TJs, and also their strawberry o’s, which are Cheerios dipped in a strawberry-icing made from yoghurt, mixed with dried strawberry clusters with a little sprinkling of sugar :)
Very interesting. Great list. Even though you didn't include it in the list, some cereals like Fruit Loops have been banned overseas due to their toxicity (I believe it had to do with the artificial coloring). Just... food for thought as well.
I'm a "Cereal Killer" and you can't imagine how much I appreciate this video... Subscribed! I'm binge watching your videos and I love them! Hugs from Panama.🤗🤗
I've been eating millet puff cereal , I just add shaved almonds, sliced bananas or choice of fruit and a little bit of coconut sugar and it's amazing! This video is so informative!
I haven't had these sugary cereals for around two years I think! Recently, my boyfriend has really just been into regular and simple cornflakes. We love to add chopped up fruit (or berries in the summer), seeds and dried mulberries to it to "healthify" it and amp up the taste.
I love your videos, Alyssia. I have been struggling with my weight since puberty, and was told in March that I no longer not only have high cholesterol, high triglycerides, high blood pressure and an irregular heartbeat, but now I am also diabetic. Whee! I have tried the Uncle Sam's Wheat Berry Flakes and Flaxseed cereal and really liked it, usually mixed with All Bran Buds. Unfortunately, I discovered it when they put it on the clearance rack at one of the local Walmarts, because they weren't going to sell it anymore. And just wanted to add the caveat, which I'm sure you're aware of, that the grams of sugar on the label really doesn't matter, because your body immediately turns the CARBS into sugar as well.
i don't allow the kids, or myself, to use cereal as the meal, i use the more sugary cereal in a HALF CUP PORTION , and the lower sugar ones in a one cup portion, as a side with our fresh eggs and yogurt with fresh fruits or canned in winter. it is something i learned in nursing school at a diabetes seminar. great vid!
Someone mentioned it already, but in the UK some of these "cereals" are sold as sweets because of the high sugar content. It's one of the biggest problems with the US imo - there's zero reason why companies should be allowed to label a box of Count Chocula or whatever as a "good source of fiber" so that parents will feel more at ease giving their kids crap for breakfast. And the worst thing is that these options are so easy and inexpensive compared to healthier foods that it becomes a necessity for some parents. No wonder so many people in this country struggle with their health. OK, rant over. I loved this video because you told it like it is, something we can't depend on food companies to do. This is why I will forever tell people to sub to this channel!
ahhhhh i haven't eaten cereal ever since i went vegan which was almost 4 months ago... i miss it. let me start looking into it. wish my country sold those power o's
LOVE when you make these vids!!!! not sure what to request ..maybe every day things we use like which oil (coconut, olive oil, evoo, etc, types of salt..
I love this video SO much!! I have a serious sugary cereal addiction. I stopped buying it too because I'll just binge on it. I've been been buying plain Cheerios now and they aren't my favorite but do the job when I really have a craving and I don't binge on em. I would love to see a video like this about pre made meals in the frozen food isle. I don't even know if there ARE even any healthy or not horrible options haha but sometimes I have no choice with a busy life and I have to eat them so I'd love to know which ones are least horrible! Thanks for all you do!!
Thank you!! I agree, plain cheerios aren't my favorite but I can totally eat them and be happy :) Thanks for the suggestion, will add it to the list! The problem with most frozen meals is sodium... but maybe I can do some investigating :) Cheers
I can eat a whole box of honey bunches of oats in a sitting, but it doesn't leave me full for long. I've switched to Bircher muesli for most breakfast, I control what goes into it and it is wonderfully satisfying. Thanks for another well done video.
I'm grateful you did this. I had no idea about the Raisin Bran. My daughter loves it and I thought it was healthy. Trader Joe's is Bae--my teens would cringe hearing me say that :) Where do you buy it? I have never noticed it before.
My favs are Fruity Pebbles and Cinnamon Toast Crunch! During Halloween l also love Frankenberry😋 It's been forever since I've eaten any of those. I usually eat oatmeal or drink a smoothie.
I'm so glad I found your channel I've been binge watching everything. I've been eating this cereal since I was old enough to hold a spoon and it kicks all of those other's backside. It is Shredded Wheat. 2 biscuits per serving 160 calories, 1 gram of fat, 0 sugar, 5g of protein and the ingredients is 1, whole grain wheat. (MY favorite way to eat this is to pour hot water over it and then drain and squeeze the water out by squishing the biscuits, top with cinnamon, a packet of Stevia and some low-fat milk) BUT, there is always a but... BHT is added to the packaging which is common in so many food products and cereals.
that is so awesome, thank you! Shredded wheat is a great choice! I am so glad you are finding the channel enjoyable, so happy to have you here :) Welcome to the channel!
I have been ironically obsessed with cereal and almond milk lately but curious what are the best. I've been loving just plain Cheerios - which I'm glad to hear makes the cut, but I'm also glad to see I do have other options! Thanks for sharing.
For sweetness I love Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Apple Jacks, and for a healthier choice it's Special K Original, Kix, and Corn / Rice Chex. Glad Kix was mentioned, I'll have to eat it more!
This is fantastic, thank you very much. I was always looking for cereals with less than 8 or 9gr per serving for my kids. I do have the impression that they add more sugar for the European market (watching you from Spain) which surprises me. Finding cereals with max. 5gr of sugar per serving will be challenging! I always enjoy your videos a lot and everything tastes great and is easy to make. Thank you so much!
I'd like to add a healthy cereal to your list. I just had some of Food For Life's Golden Flax cereal and it tasted REALLY bland. Its got a serving size of half a cup, 6 grams of fiber, 0 grams of sugar (something sweet like berries or a little bit of a banana will need to be added), and 9 grams of protein. And the first ingredient is: Organic Sprouted Wheat. I'm really enjoying your videos! Keep up the great work!
For sugary, I've always loved Golden Grahams. I actually haven't ate much cereal in yrs and it's been several yrs since I had GG, but I've been loving them since the time they came out. I like the wheat squares when I wanna cut done on sugar.
Great video! Have you tried "Qi'a Cocoa Coconut Superflakes"? I LOVE THEM! It has 6g of sugar in 1 cup but the nutritional value is through the roof for a cereal so I think it's worth making an exception. The ingredients list is very clean check it out; Ingredients: Sprouted grains* (sprouted black bean flour*, sprouted brown rice flour*), brown rice flour*, Fair Trade dried coconut*, coconut palm sugar*, honey*, Fair Trade cocoa powder (processed with alkali)*, sea salt. *Organic. May contain tree nuts, peanuts or soy. VEGETARIAN
I love your little moments of honesty when reading the Uncle Sam's label: I wonder if it's gonna be gross. Maybe I laugh too easily, nut I replayed that moment several times.
Dang makes wonderful coconut chips. Basically just coconut, coconut oil, salt, and coconut sugar... They also make excellent onion chips now, made from sliced onions, oil, salt, and some kind of tapioca dextrin for processing probably. I’ve also had good bacon-flavored coconut chips, I think from the Phoney Baloney company. No pigs were injured in the making of those bacon chips.
Cereal will always be in our lives, no matter our age. There's always that day when oatmeal just doesn't do it...I really crave more than the actual sugar, the texture and nutty taste that cereal can deliver, I don't know if that happens to you, dear Alyssia. But you are my hero right know with this video. I have been fighting with this decision for so long, because I like to be health conscious as much as possible... And either you read my mind, or the struggle is real! Hahahaha. Loved it! Thanks and regards from Colombia! :))
lol, I do love oatmeal but it definitely doesn't substitute cereal. I agree- I love the texture of cereal, too! I am so glad you found the video enjoyable, thank you!!
i recently started the Whole 30 diet to hopefully improve my digestion and my relationship with food. i was searching your channel and noticed you have no videos about it. i would really enjoy an educational video about different diets (paleo, gluten free, vegan, etc.) and what their goals are and if the tactics actually work. on whole 30 you eliminate grains, dairy, sugar, and legumes. i'd like a video about whether it's really necessary to do this and what effect it can actually have with some of these elimination diets. thanks Alyssia, you're my favorite youtuber!!!
That's a great suggestion, Ashleigh! Thank you so much! I'm always wanting to do more educational videos (unfortunately they're not everyone else's favorites), and I've wanted to do a video about different lifestyle choices for a long time. Your feedback is very helpful! Most of all, your support is so appreciated
can't wait to see your opinions! your educational videos are actually what made me decide to take charge of my health and, eventually, to try whole 30!!
Alyssia. Videos like these are why I love you. Yeah I wanna eat sugary processed crap now and then. Overall, yes, I want a healthy diet. Super annoying when people pretend to not like guilty pleasure foods to sound elitist or pretend they never enjoy endulgences. Keep being friggen awesome, girlie!!
lol!! We just filmed a Facebook video where a cereal bowl is a popcorn bowl lol. I am obsessed with all sweetened cereal. I can't keep it in the house and when we did this episode it was dangerous times! haha
this was the most educational of your videos (am bingeing tonight in no particular order) - while we “know” in a perfect world we wouldn’t be eating any of these - we don’t so we do - thnx for this great lesson on navigating thru the cereal aisle - am going to try your pumpkin oatmeal from another video for breakfast - that is if I can stop watching your videos and get some 😴😴😴
I started eating a chia pudding for breakfast with chia, almond/coconut milk, some whole fat yogurt, berries and banana, with about a tp of honey or maple syrup added. It actually tastes pretty good, when you get used to the consistency. The chia makes it much more filling than a smoothie and satiation lasts longer, too.
I would love to see a fiber information video! I can't tell you how many times I've seen different "healthy" foods with different variations of fiber in the nutrition label it gets so confusing 😖
Favorite cold cereals : Peach Cheerios, yellow box Cheerios, Bob's Red Mill Muesli, Rice Krispies, Rice Chex, plain Kix and Special K. Overall, a decent lineup I think. Though the rice cereals are lacking in fiber.
Oh, yes! I liked the chocolate chip! I ate them instead of cookies.. I was briefly a fan of Krave also when they first came out, but it was kind of chocolate overload after a while. I’m kind of put off by the sentient Krave squares in the commercials. I don’t really like my cereal to be alive.
I'm kind of glad that we have a large variety of "less bad" cereals to chose from here in Germany. Those mostly consist of rolled oats, some nuts and dried fruit, sometimes chocolate bits. They aren't ideal nutritionwise, but still ok. My favorite sugary, unhealthy cereal is called "Nougat Bits", it's wheat pillows with a Nutella-like chocolate filling. I also love Cinnamon Toast Crunch (which is called "Cini Minis" here, isn't that cute?). I used to eat a bowl of sugary cereal almost every day, now I have virtually given up on them. When I do eat them, I like to either add a small portion on top of a breakfast that isn't cereal (say, yogurt or porridge) or snack on a few pieces as they are, without milk or anything. Which reminds me, I used to love snacking on Kashi's Toasted Oat cereal (the cinnamon kind is much better than the honey kind!) which I got off of iHerb, but ordering it online constantly is way too expensive. We do have something similar, but it doesn't come in that cute ring shape. First world problems, I know. :D (also it has a lot more sugar in it, meh.)
Really you are quite lucky for that! I think America has TOO much of a selection which makes it too easy to make a deceiving choice rather than a healthier one. CINI MINIS! That is so adorable! I love it! :)
I found a box at Publix I got so excited, I only ever saw it on UA-cam videos from channels over in Europe. I'm curious as to how they taste compared to a us cereal.
Shredded wheat is my top choice for cereal - it's the only one I can in supermarkets that doesn't have any added sugar. And it's generally just 100% whole wheat.
I didn't talk about it, just one of the ones I had for reference. It falls into the same category as many of the other deceiving ones though, still higher in sugar :) The point here was to help offer guidance for making your own decisions, not to actually suggest which ones to eat or avoid :) Cheers
I loved this video! Really helped me in the cereal aisle the other day! I've been buying a certain cereal which claims it has lots of fibre in it for my husband who needs it, only to find there's not actually that much! The way you broke up the checklist of things to check was great. More like this please :) so helpful X
awesome! Thank you so much :) I know it can be hard to decipher all of those health claims but it can be done! So glad you found it useful :) Thank you!
It is my responsibility to be thorough in these educational videos- If I am more "to the point" then I will overlook important factors that people need to be aware of. I am providing the information so I will do it in the way that is best for my audiences educational purposes- it is important that I never tell anyone what to do- I want to encourage people to make informed decisions, and they must be informed to be able to do that. I must offer the information for them to be informed. Make sense? Cheers
I'am addicted to Cocoa Dyno Bites since long now. But recently as a health concern I got Bran Flakes (Whole Grain Wheat cereal with bran) offered by Kroger and its Nutrition Facts are just what my body needs and I think I am gonna stick to it for life.
I'm glad that my parents didn't give me cereal as a breakfast when I was a child! I usually don't watch 15 min UA-cam video buuut these kinds of videos are eyes opener so I can't miss that.
Kix is my go to cereal when my kids want a breakfast treat. We eat a variety of whole grain low sugar breakfast foods, but who doesn't love to snack on cereal?
Great video. I look forward to each of them. I love the tip about the single serving size portion. I haven't eaten cinnamon toast crunch in years and like you I generally avoid buying cereal because if it's in the house it will get eaten quickly.
The biggest take away from this for me is that chicory root thing. I didn't know that and it explains why that Kashi stuff never agreed with me much. I thought I was just sensitive to the added fiber in things. I guess that is still technically true but now I know why. Thanks! And the not having the cereal in the house is the way I am too. I just try to keep my vices (like cereal) out of the cupboard. Since once it is there it will always be there starting me down with it's sweet, delicious, sugary goodness.
I am so glad you found it helpful! Thank you. Yes, a LOT of companies fool people on the fiber thing, it's pretty unfair to all of us who are trying to make a healthy choice and are in some ways tricked into eating something else... but that's why it's important we see through their schemes! I agree, once that cereal is in the house, it doesn't matter how high I hide it- I suddenly become the least lazy person when I want to eat it because I will go through EVERYTHING to get to it lol.
You are absolutely right about the raisin bran crunch. I gained 10 pounds in the last 3 months and I didn't know why. Then I realized I was eating at least two bowls a day! I immediately stopped.
Remember the shredded wheat large biscuits they still have it It is available in my area so I buy that and I like to top it with bananas and honey and I love this stuff
Very informative. I was just getting ready to get up and check my box of Joe's O's but then you mentioned them as well. I appreciate the work you put in.
Did you know that in the UK, American kids cereal (e.g. Lucky Charms) has to be sold as a sweet treat rather than breakfast because of the amount of sugar in it?
that is so smart! America, get it together!!
+Mind Over Munch i love ur energy! your hilirious:) thx for all the vids!!
My brother and sister-in-law have lived in Japan for many years. The stores there don't sell any sugary cereals. The only stuff they could get was Honey Nut Cheerios and things like that. No Lucky Charms, no Cap'n Crunch, no Frosted Flakes.
Wow
In Japan too! We sell in it small paper cups, and they say it to eat in moderation as a snack! Plus sugary granolas too.
I had to give up cereal completely because who just eats 3/4 or 1 cup? 😒 I miss you Cap'n Crunch 😞
+Nique 08 Cap'n Crunch is so good!!!

I make my own raisin bran by mixing whole wheat flake cereal and died raisins myself. It reduces the total sugar quite a bit.

Thank you SO much! I'm glad you're enjoying! That's a huge compliments, those are 2 of my favorite shows and I've always admired Alton Brown!
"Ups, I got 35 grams of the honey smacks instead of 27 Grams." --> way easier if you have the amount of 100 g on hand.
yes! Europe has it together way better than we do! So silly!
@@MindOverMunch definitely. I wanna move there lol
reeses puffs, reeses puffs, peanut butter chocolate flavaaa 😍😍😍
so good!
🤮
YAASS 🎤
all junk
I'm super addicted to cereal! Thanks so much for this video. ... i guess I can go make better choices like a real adult now. :-)
LOL. I think for some of us, we just won't ever really be adults when it comes to cereal...
Budget Girl sheesh eat a salad
Organic, low added refined sugar, low salt, low fat, whole grain. Those are the guidelines.
:) YES! Those are so good :) Great suggestions!
I will just stick with oat meal
Good choice, I love oatmeal!
Mind Over Munch omg I didn't think you would respond thanks :-)
Totally. All of the choices here are unhealthy. No need for all the fancy stuff. Oatmeall, banana and apple, what else do you need
Boriiiiiing
Thanks for this video. I love Raisin Bran, vanilla clusters trader joes, Honey Nut Cheerios, honey bunches of oats. These are my top 4
:) Awesome! Great choices!
It's only got 1.7g of sugar per serving, the first ingredient is wholegrain wheat, the ingredients list is 4, the serving size is normal and there are 3.8g of fibre per serving in it too!
yes!! We do have them, thanks for sharing!! Great choice :)
I gotta give it to you i never watched any video longer than 5 minutes to it's full but i literally watched your video for 15:45 full just because of few things:
Your Voice
Presentation Style

ThankYou for all the info ☺
That makes my day!! I am so glad you found it useful, I really appreciate it! :) Happy to have you here! Cheers
i forgot to mention i subscribed to your channel 😉
Mind Over Munch i would appreciate if you help me with this.

I know you said sugar to be under 5g but in some videos people saying anything under 9g is good and now I'm confused.
Wow you shocked me with the Kix! Super happy cuz I love Kix
It's so good!
*possessively clutches overflowing bowl of frosted mini wheats*
mini wheats are so good!
Using a really small wooden spoon helps keep milk out of my mustache when I eat cereal. I eat cinnamon life cereal without oils added.
Would love to see a video about different overnight oats recipes!!
ok great! Thanks!
Ditto on that! Overnight Oats are my thing!
Agreed!
Wow! Great point to consider :)
I'm a "Cereal Killer" and you can't imagine how much I appreciate this video... Subscribed!
I'm binge watching your videos and I love them! Hugs from Panama.🤗🤗
haha, thank you! We are cereal fans too :) Love from LA!
I've been eating millet puff cereal , I just add shaved almonds, sliced bananas or choice of fruit and a little bit of coconut sugar and it's amazing! This video is so informative!
that's a great idea! Love bulking up the cereal with healthy options!
My guilty pleasure is cookie crisp! I don’t eat it at all but I get tempted. I used to eat them though.
oh SOOO good@
Yup!
I am 31 and love frosted flakes! I only buy cereal when we go camping, it is a special treat when we know we will be countering the bad with good.
They are so good!!
I haven't had these sugary cereals for around two years I think! Recently, my boyfriend has really just been into regular and simple cornflakes. We love to add chopped up fruit (or berries in the summer), seeds and dried mulberries to it to "healthify" it and amp up the taste.
Corn flakes are great, honestly I do like the taste!!
Wow! That is fantastic news, you should be so proud! It seems you are really finding your balance on your journey and that is so inspiring!
Alyssia, I think you misunderstood. I have not gotten rid of the other conditions, the diabetes was added on TOP of what was already wrong.
Honey bunches of Oats with Almonds! OMG ... I can easily eat the whole box in 1 sitting... Therefore, I NEVER buy it...
One of my favorites too!
It is really good!!
🍯 bunches of oats cinnamon! Love it...
i don't allow the kids, or myself, to use cereal as the meal, i use the more sugary cereal in a HALF CUP PORTION , and the lower sugar ones in a one cup portion, as a side with our fresh eggs and yogurt with fresh fruits or canned in winter. it is something i learned in nursing school at a diabetes seminar. great vid!
Very nice! That's a good balance!
I always appreciate the hard work you put into your videos, thank you!
thank you very much!
This is why I will forever tell people to sub to this channel!
that is so awesome and smart, we could definitely learn a few things over here! I really appreciate you sharing and thank you for the feedback :)
ahhhhh i haven't eaten cereal ever since i went vegan which was almost 4 months ago... i miss it. let me start looking into it. wish my country sold those power o's
Do a google search, there's so many!! I think peta also has a list
Is cereal not vegan? I'm not vegan just curious
Abby Nosovitsky on it :)
Jimmy Holland a lot of them contain dairy, honey, eggs or other sneaky animal ingredients. but there are vegan cereals out there
it depends on the cereal, always important to read the ingredients list to know for sure :)
LOVE when you make these vids!!!!
not sure what to request ..maybe every day things we use like which oil (coconut, olive oil, evoo, etc, types of salt..
Great idea, thank you!
Barbara Puffins Original cereal is my favorite cereal even though it's marketing is towards children....
LOL I love puffins!! SO GOOD
I love this video SO much!!
I feel like an old person all the time cause I'm over in the corner eating "Uncle Sam" while my bf's noshing on coco puffs.
lol! I feel you!
nosh... 😛
I can eat a whole box of honey bunches of oats in a sitting, but it doesn't leave me full for long. I've switched to Bircher muesli for most breakfast, I control what goes into it and it is wonderfully satisfying. Thanks for another well done video.
I agree! That's the problem with cereal for me, it isn't filling enough at all! Muesli is a great choice!
Would the Uncle Sam's one be a dupe for Raisin Bran if you add raisins?
Sounds like a great idea! Add your own raisins that aren't coated in sugar, and add a bit less of them :)
I'm grateful you did this. I had no idea about the Raisin Bran. My daughter loves it and I thought it was healthy. Trader Joe's is Bae--my teens would cringe hearing me say that :)
Where do you buy it? I have never noticed it before.
CherishMyDaughter I cringed reading it.
I love kashi's blueberry cereal! It's organic, with natural sugars, and it's so yummy with almond milk
Thanks you gave me a healthy alternative :)
I just eat whatever cereal I want tbh gotta get the carbs in
lucky!
My favs are Fruity Pebbles and Cinnamon Toast Crunch! During Halloween l also love Frankenberry😋
It's been forever since I've eaten any of those. I usually eat oatmeal or drink a smoothie.
Peanut Butter Crunch and Cinnamon Toast Crunch are my favorites.
YUM I love CTC!
Whoa! Raisin Bran with added banana has always been my favorite lazy dinner meal that seemed healthy. 😕 Boo at that sugar!
that's a great combo though!
I have been ironically obsessed with cereal and almond milk lately but curious what are the best. I've been loving just plain Cheerios - which I'm glad to hear makes the cut, but I'm also glad to see I do have other options! Thanks for sharing.
Plain cheerios are such a great choice! Love them! :)
Love watching your channel. Your voice reminds me of Velma from Scooby-do and I love how energetic you are.
Thank you! and LOL you aren't the first time to say that 😂 ua-cam.com/video/18xgEjMNdY4/v-deo.html
For sweetness I love Cinnamon Toast Crunch and Apple Jacks, and for a healthier choice it's Special K Original, Kix, and Corn / Rice Chex. Glad Kix was mentioned, I'll have to eat it more!
What about bran cereal? and cereal that uses artificial sweeteners?
Would love an update to this video.
What are your thoughts on Bran Flakes, Corn Flakes, Weetabix, Grape Nuts, and Shredded Wheat? Those are my go-tos.
thank you! :) I plan to update!
So much education, love it! Love YOU! ❤️
thank you! Love you!
I'm so glad you enjoyed it, thank you! I really appreciate it!
I waited the entire time for you to rate the life cereal. Dang!!!
LOL! I think life was pretty close but maybe SLIGHTLY too high on sugar? can't remember but I know it was close, and I do love life!!
Life is great; life cereal is NOT
I'd like to add a healthy cereal to your list.
My favorite cereals are Life and Kix 😍🤤
love both of those :)
For sugary, I've always loved Golden Grahams. I actually haven't ate much cereal in yrs and it's been several yrs since I had GG, but I've been loving them since the time they came out. I like the wheat squares when I wanna cut done on sugar.
so much education, I love it, thank you so much 💛
Thank you Jade!!
VEGETARIAN
Nice! I haven't tried but will keep an eye out! Thank you for sharing :)
I love your little moments of honesty when reading the Uncle Sam's label: I wonder if it's gonna be gross. Maybe I laugh too easily, nut I replayed that moment several times.
LOL I'm glad you can get some laughs from these videos! It can be humorous! :) And we do need to get honest!
i love her honesty. She keeps it real lol. I feel like I can totally trust her recommendations
lol, thank you! So glad you liked it :)
Why wasn't shredded wheat mentioned? It's literally a big chunk of wheat.
nice choice!
@@MindOverMunch Is honey bunches of oats okay?
I'm obsessed with your educational videos! Especially the Sweeteners and the Chocolate one :)
toasted coconut flakes. it's simple, easy and so much better.
mmm I love coconut!
I am so glad you found the video enjoyable, thank you!!
cinnamon toast crunch, All day every day
yaaas I'm with you!
i recently started the Whole 30 diet to hopefully improve my digestion and my relationship with food. i was searching your channel and noticed you have no videos about it. i would really enjoy an educational video about different diets (paleo, gluten free, vegan, etc.) and what their goals are and if the tactics actually work. on whole 30 you eliminate grains, dairy, sugar, and legumes. i'd like a video about whether it's really necessary to do this and what effect it can actually have with some of these elimination diets. thanks Alyssia, you're my favorite youtuber!!!
I love cereal! I don't like sweet cereals. Good to know my favorites aren't too bad,kix and cheerios.
YES I'm a huge cereal fanatic :) even the sweet ones lol
Thank you!
so sad multigrain cheerios didnt make the list! but super glad crispix did!
I love multigrain cheerios too!!
Mind Over Munch I love all sweetened cereal you are brave for buying all those sugar cereals! haha my cereal bowl is a mixing bowl. lol
lol!! We just filmed a Facebook video where a cereal bowl is a popcorn bowl lol. I am obsessed with all sweetened cereal. I can't keep it in the house and when we did this episode it was dangerous times! haha
I love the Nature's Valley Flakes. Most of them are vegan and are made with whole grains and little sugar. Plus, they have an amazing texture!
very nice! Thanks!
Most of the times I watch your videos because you're so pretty.
this was the most educational of your videos (am bingeing tonight in no particular order) - while we “know” in a perfect world we wouldn’t be eating any of these - we don’t so we do - thnx for this great lesson on navigating thru the cereal aisle - am going to try your pumpkin oatmeal from another video for breakfast - that is if I can stop watching your videos and get some 😴😴😴
awesome, thank you! :) I appreciate it!
Peanut Butter Capn Crunch!!! It tears up the roof of my mouth, but it is worth it!!
OMG YUM!!
Yum that sounds tasty!
I use Uncle Sam and put stevia for a little sweetness lol
Nice!
Mind Over Munch Where do you buy Uncle Sam at?
VanityBarbie23 amazon
My husband is a cereal fiend! He eats cereal (and poptarts) a lot as a bedtime snack. This was very informative though, I really enjoy your videos!😀
lol I LOVE cereal, glad this video was helpful for you!! :)
I would love to see a fiber information video! I can't tell you how many times I've seen different "healthy" foods with different variations of fiber in the nutrition label it gets so confusing 😖
great suggestion, thank you!
Favorite cold cereals : Peach Cheerios, yellow box Cheerios, Bob's Red Mill Muesli, Rice Krispies, Rice Chex, plain Kix and Special K. Overall, a decent lineup I think. Though the rice cereals are lacking in fiber.
I used to eat cookie crisp
YUM I loved cookie crisp :)
Oh, yes! I liked the chocolate chip! I ate them instead of cookies.. I was briefly a fan of Krave also when they first came out, but it was kind of chocolate overload after a while. I’m kind of put off by the sentient Krave squares in the commercials. I don’t really like my cereal to be alive.
I got a huge bag of knock offs cookie crisps in my pantry of them right now. 😅
One of the worst cereals. I use to buy it a lot. Taste good but so bad.
I love your focus on informed decisions! You always have great information, and it's non-judgmental. Love it!
Thank you so much!!
NAH... I DONT NEED A DIET... MY LOVE FOR CEREALS ARE STRONGER
I love it! :)
Do you have weetabix in the states? It's 95% while grain wheat 😍
I think we have it but I've never tried!
Mind Over Munch They have Weetabix at the Trader Joe's in my area and it's delicious with a handful of raspberries!
I found a box at Publix I got so excited, I only ever saw it on UA-cam videos from channels over in Europe. I'm curious as to how they taste compared to a us cereal.
Wheat is BAD and you are thinking of Vita Brits. Weetbix has sugar and other crap.
Shredded wheat is my top choice for cereal - it's the only one I can in supermarkets that doesn't have any added sugar. And it's generally just 100% whole wheat.
JUST EAT PORRIDGE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have always loved kix and I eat them pretty often. I'm so glad to see they pass the test.
they are so good!
Did you talk about the jungle much cereal or did I miss it?
So glad you found it useful :) Thank you!
you should be more to the point
I only got the requirements rest I for got everything
It is my responsibility to be thorough in these educational videos- If I am more "to the point" then I will overlook important factors that people need to be aware of. I am providing the information so I will do it in the way that is best for my audiences educational purposes- it is important that I never tell anyone what to do- I want to encourage people to make informed decisions, and they must be informed to be able to do that. I must offer the information for them to be informed. Make sense? Cheers
Mind Over Munch so quick responding xd
I really like having plain corn Chex. It’s ingredients are just whole grains + vitamin E
I really appreciate it, thank you!
Kix is my go to cereal when my kids want a breakfast treat. We eat a variety of whole grain low sugar breakfast foods, but who doesn't love to snack on cereal?
yes! I love it too!
I just bought a box yesterday :)
Great video. I look forward to each of them. I love the tip about the single serving size portion. I haven't eaten cinnamon toast crunch in years and like you I generally avoid buying cereal because if it's in the house it will get eaten quickly.
yes! every once in a while it satisfies :)
Frosted Flakes! mmm mmm. Just recently bought a single serve of it because I wanted some and would eat a whole box. Life is also good too.
Yes! I love Life too!
Good thing plain old cheerios is my favorite ever!
so good!
Great video girlie! I must admit that I've learned a lot from this video. I'm looking forward to the next one. Have a great weekend
Thank you! I appreciate it!
You are absolutely right about the raisin bran crunch. I gained 10 pounds in the last 3 months and I didn't know why. Then I realized I was eating at least two bowls a day! I immediately stopped.
It is tough to recognize because it seems healthy, and that stuff is so good!
plus i would fill the bowls to the brim lol
Remember the shredded wheat large biscuits they still have it It is available in my area so I buy that and I like to top it with bananas and honey and I love this stuff
Very informative. I was just getting ready to get up and check my box of Joe's O's but then you mentioned them as well. I appreciate the work you put in.
awesome!! Thank you!
