One thing Gordon doesn’t know is that you can do a submission called ”the Americana” when you pin the arm, it is a very advanced technique so I wouldn’t expect him to know it. It’s like a reverse-kimura
The americana is an extremely low % submission in high level jj, I believe thats why he doenst even mention it. Danaher is big on position b4 submission and an underhook to armtriangle has way more control than an americana from mount
The right palm behind his left triceps and not allowing the left arm to get out from behind the head creates a stall in this position. Then you can concentrate fighting one hand with one hand.
Hard to get without cross body control. So he could go for it but would have to hook the opponents far side leg or go into side and triangle Bernardos other arm with his leg. A favorite of Rickson and Henry Atkins . At higher levels you give up a possible half guard if you hook the leg and escape if you go to side.If you push down the other side of the body it makes the Americana better. Why risk that when you have safer options available?
By no means am I great, but I'm just starting to realize that you can create reactions with submissions. So what I'll do is I'll go for an Americana from side control, if they come over the top to break grips I arm bar them.
I love that rash gaurd! It's dope! Also calling ur training partner "MY PARTNER" in 2023 is sus..can u say "SO IF U GRAB THE MUFUKAS WRISTS LIKE THIS THAN THE MUFUKA IS IN A DILEMA"... I'm just asking questions 🤷♂️
I love Ryan and read what I wrote. I didn’t say he was “wrong”. He’s teaching a legit move. BUT in Jiu Jitsu where I spent over 18 years on the mat their are counter moves to anything. And in regards to placing your arm under your partners neck ALWAYS leaves you vulnerable to an umpa. In this case (and I’ve done this countless times), as soon as the top person crosses their left arm under my neck I trap it there with my head and lock their left foot with my foot (not allowing them any base), and immediately hip up rolling them over. Sometime you can actually let them think they’re good working on your exposed left arm but in actuality you’re setting them up to revers them and take top control. So anyone who knows this can see the “counter”… otherwise if you don’t know the counter, the technique Ryan is demonstrating is great. So I’m not criticizing a master like Ryan - I’m only stating the counter is very simple if you know it. Just understand Jiu Jitsu is about timing so understanding where your partner’s head position and weight is is important for your leverage but the counter to this move is there for the taking. 👍
This is my go to sequence from mount, been using it for almost a year...absolute game changer.
You are a really good teacher man
What if he says its a huge honor in your ear until you lose your mind?
Yuuuuge
Wtf?? 😂😂
Yes, he exposes his ear too much. Lucky his opponent is not Mike Tyson.
😭😭😭
I love doing either *Single Arm Wrap* from Mount or *Double Arm Wrap* …either way you’re gonna dominate

americana is one of the first submissions you learn
@@voidy8301 No no no! It’s way too advanced for beginners to learn, I seriously hope you don’t teach BJJ
@@maxwallstrom3170from the mount its not very safe go for the americana ...

this is really helpful - thankyou ! :)
Thank you sir!
Other than attacking the arm triangle choke, what is the benefit of elevating the elbow above the head?
higher mount and huge opponent control to attack with an armlock
More gold ❤
Beautiful
Could u finish an Americana with that grip?😊
Can you japanese neck tie here

Awesome
Isn't the keylock (Americana) submission right there too?

What option if just he straightns the pin arm ??
I’ve learned this in class
huge honor!
What do you do when their arm goes up by the head?
try to attack a head and arm choke

Gordon is so charismatic
Your bar must be very low.

What's next if he gets to elevate the arm?
Why does he cross grip in the beginning?
sick
Is the kimura at that point not an option? White belt here. Too easy to get swept?
usually people don’t go to kimura from mount, you want to be perpendicular to your opponent (side control variation’s basically) when doing kimura
you can but you would need to switch positions and get their head in between your legs
You’re thinking americana which is available
I do this almost every time I get mount , attack the arm gift wrap pull into a back take
What if your opponent is just way too strong for any pins to work?
Go lift
Can’t you go for an arm triangle??
❤
When I’m full mount you always have to be wary of the infamous nippler crippler, instant tap out
And then?
🎉😊
Imagine Ryan vs Khabib 😮
Ryan by heel hook in about 7 seconds
BJ Penn just got messed UP
The minute you put your arm around the neck of your opponent with that mount, you're going over his right shoulder if he has any experience.
Are you saying gordan Ryan is teaching the wrong things?
