  • How to 5.3 ls swap a 1949 Chevy Deluxe coupe has started. I found a 5.3 Liter LS engine and 4L60E transmission locally on Market place for sale for a great deal. The engine was running before being pulled out of a 2000 Chevy Silverado, it had 147,000 miles on it when pulled which is relatively low when it comes to LS engines. The 4L60 transmission will be a nice addition to the car making it very highway friendly . The 49 Chevy came with an S10 rear differential when I bought it so with this combo it should be a really nice cruiser with plenty of power and an overdrive transmission. Now that I have a driveline I can start planning the suspension parts and start tying evrything together mechanically. Stay tuned for the next video I'm going to start tearing out the old engine and suspension to start making room for all the new parts. Make sure you guys give me a thumbs up if you're liking the content and subscribe to follow the build.

Looking forward to future posts, winter is coming so you'll have plenty of indoor time to work on the 49 I have a choke-less 750 Demon on my 355 it's an older model that runs good. The only issue I have she stinks when warming up, I may look into an EFI unit in the future....again man thumbs up!

I just bought a 49 styleline and I'm doing the same sort of build as you. I have a set of FREE front and rear bumpers that I don't need if you are interested. They need to be sanded and re-chromed. I'm not sure how I'd get them to you

So the guy I bought it from said it was out of an s10 but I ran the numbers off the case and it’s actually a Camaro or firebird diff mid to late 70’s 8.5. He had it bolted up to the stock 49 rear leaf springs didn’t have to change too much. I’m installing a 3- link so I’ll be stripping the tubes and welding new brackets on I’m still using this rear differential though.
