Can this 49 Chevy chassis handle an LS Swap ?
Can this 49 Chevy chassis handle an LS Swap ?. I'm going to find out in this episode where I start cleaning it up and prepping it for paint and its new rear suspension. I finally got the 1949 chevy chassis easily accessible and out from under the Styleline Deluxe. I start by knocking off the 75 years of dirt and undercoat and remove the old rusty brake lines and fuel lines. After I get most of the debris off I can take it outside and grind the rusty scale down a little to prepare this 49 chassis for some satin black paint. I ordered the rear suspension kit that should be showing up soon and I'll be revealing what company and what kit I went with as soon as it shows up so stay tuned. Make sure to subscribe to follow all of the videos, I really appreciate all of you that have shown your support by giving me a thumbs up and subscribing.

Lifting the 49 Chevy body off the chassis
Переглядів 33614 днів тому
I'm finally lifting the 49 Chevy body off the chassis after a lot of planning and preparing. I had to plan out a body cradle to set the old girl on, I built a heavy duty wood table out of 4x4's and 4x6's and lag bolted it together. I ran two heavy steel beams across the span of the table to support the rocker area of the 49 Chevy. I'll be welding the rockers to the steel beams so it can't slide...
LS SWAP style that anyone can afford
Переглядів 579Місяць тому
How to add budget ls swap style that anyone can afford. It's time to install the accessory brackets on my LS Swap 1949 Chevy. I'm utilizing my original brackets and components and want to add a little unique style to them. I accomplish by cleaning and degreasing them and painting them all in a satin black finish. All components get painted even the alternator housing and tensioner body. I'm sho...
I'm Installing a LS drivetrain into an old Chevy coupe
Переглядів 1,1 тис.2 місяці тому
In this video I'm installing a ls drivetrain into an old chevy coupe. I got the 4L60E transmission cleaned up in last episode with a new filter and transmission pan along with a fresh coat of paint. So now it's time to mate the 4.8L ls engine up with the freshened up 4L60E transmission and see if the drivetrain will fit into the 49 chevy coupe. Watch as I wrestle with the combo to get it seated...
LS swap transmission budget build will it survive!?!
Переглядів 6872 місяці тому
Welcome back in this video I show you how I ls swap transmission budget build for my 1949 Chevy coupe. I bought this 4L60E transmission with my junkyard LS swap and don't really know anything about it. The junkyard dog I bought it from said it shifted and was a good transmission. I'm hoping he was right cause I really don't want to pay for a rebuilt transmission at this time. I start by cleanin...

Working on my 1970 Chevy Nova fixing coolant leaks and doing burnouts!!!. Thats what this video is about my big block chevy in my Nova has been slowly leaking coolant from the water outlet gasket. The o ring has failed and flattened out causing a slow leak. I eliminate the o ring and go back to using a flat paper gasket and RTV silicone sealant. And of course it solves the problem, after fixing...

In this video I'm installing my LS swap in 20 min, After months of gathering parts assembling the engine and prepping the chassis and body I'm ready to LS swap my custom 1949 Chevy. I ordered a set of Murray Kustom Rods motor mounts for 49-54 chevy cars. These mounts are super trick and easy to install, they bolt in to factory bolt hole location to properly locate the mounts then get welded in ...

Great video, JR! You’ve got your work cut out for you. I didn’t know that Lilly the Shop Dog was so camera shy.
Thanks Scott! Yeah I didn’t think she would act like that either lol.
Keep digging buddy your getting there if it was easy they. Would be sitting every where 😊
That’s true, I can’t wait to start the install on the rear suspension. Thanks Dave
Chevy nova
I bet you are going with a 2 link rear suspension?
You will find out soon, thanks for tuning in 👍🏻
Hell yeah buddy, a little blasting and some serious stiffing and let her eat! See you at Turkey Trot if you come again!!!!!!
Nice Chevy Nova that and the Maverick body are some slept on stuff
what exhaust is that?
Not sure there’s no brand on it, came on the bike when I bought it.
I’m having the same problem, but the wires are good, batteries good I’ll say is probably the starter. I just had this issue on 7/11/24
Great job, JR! Loved the video! Huge progress!
Thanks!! This was a big hurdle now I’ve got a lot to do again.
Looks like a lot of work man don't let it get you down got to keep going buddy 👍
Oh it definitely is but I’m lovin every minute of it, thanks Dave 🙌🏻
Get your parts on order with Murray kustom. I ordered in February and they were 12-18 weeks out. The cars looking good tho.
Yeah I know I’m going to be waiting for awhile I just got my funds together I’ll be ordering this upcoming week finally. Thanks man 👊🏻
Did u have to have it tuned
I haven’t fired it yet but yes I will, way bigger cam trailblazer SS intake and headers it will definitely need to be tuned.
Good job, JR! Big step forward. Looking forward to the extended version.
I would do the engine have it bored only because you have it down there so just put a little more time and money in it and then you don't have to worry about it
Yeah I should have but I’m a gambling man so we will see if I lose or win.
I got a 1970 Chevy Nova I'm confused should I go big block too I'm just scared of the clearance of the headers. And over heating problems. which should i go for sbc or bbc help??
My truck started shocking me in random places than my starter threw sparks and quit.
Damn I thought he broke it which would really be incredible
Ahhh, the sound of a v-twin.!
Thank you, Really nice video, that part 🔥 100% 🍷😎👍🏾
MY 2008 WAS RUNNING I CUT ENGINE OFF THEN TRIED RO START IT WITH NO WARNING IT WOULD NOT CRANK, I WILL CHECK WIRING, THANKS
And by the way, I’ve watched like 100 of these videos and yours is by far the nicest .. it’s the most informative and you’re explaining it while you’re doing it, which is very easy to comprehend for people that have issues with books so I feel like it was very easy to learn what you were conveying. Thank you.
I don’t think the video was long at all. I think it was very informative. I guess if you wanted to shorten it, you could just do like three out of eight repetitive processes when it comes to like the bow training and what not but in reality, I gained a lot of knowledge from this video so I think it was perfectly timed personally.
Thanks for the feedback I really appreciate your point of view and comments, thanks for watching 🙌🏻
I’m curious with the oil pan why don’t you just cut around the pick up tube only and you still have the window tray over the front bearings of the crank or whatever I feel like being on the opposite side would be enough to secure that in place where you would just need to cut closely around the actual pick up to I mean I can be wrong. I’ve never done it but I’m about to do one. I think that’s what I’ll be doing with mine, I’ll let you know if it works out.
Do you need to mess with the oil pan to set it on the mustang cross member, I got my mustang II kit, and double adjustable coil overs, deciding weather to go 5.3 or 6.0 ls , I’m not so worried about it lasting forever, so might just cram some boost in a 6.0 or spray it, but I think boost is cheeper over time?
I’m laying mine on the ground so I had to go with the 302-2 oil pan for ground clearance, I believe you would at least have to run a Camaro pan otherwise the truck pan will hang down below the crossmember.
I own a 2003 Chevy Kodiak c4500. Replaced both batteries, replaced alternator, and going to replace my starter. Still having issues. Hopefully this is the problem. Been trying to figure this out for so long. Im annoyed lol
I'm not a fan of chopping the top. The Coupes look good the way they are. But to each their own.
Looks great! Exactly what I look to do. Cheap and functional. Thanks for the video.
Thanks!! Yeah there’s nothing wrong with running the OE stuff that you already have and it always fits better than aftermarket.
Great video, J.R.! What a labor of love! Missing the garage puppy.
Thank you so much
This helped me really well
Glad to hear it brother 👍🏻
That's Bad ass I'm Doing a 53 on coilovers all for covers 4 bar rear shorten rear-end 20 x12 and 18x8 frt
Damn brother sounds wicked I love 53’s
Dude....thumbs up!
Awesome
Thanks!! 🙌🏻
Guessing this won’t work with a booster
I’m not sure maybe with the smallest booster you can get, my car has manual brakes and steering.
Looking good man!
Thanks brother 🙌🏻
That thing is nice but it would be badass if it wasn’t a gas truck
I guess! I’ve had diesels in the past and never really needed them and when it’s time to maintain and repair them it’s costly. Don’t get me wrong nothing beats the power a diesel has.
@@atomicspeedgarage I’ve always had gas trucks I have a diesel now for the first time and man I’m never going back lol but I definitely get what you’re saying way more expensive to maintain just out of curiosity what kind of gas mileage does that thing get
Thanks, I'll check that out n let you know what I find . Thanks
Hope it helps thanks for watching brother.
You got lucky my steering wheel bolts are stripped out..😢
Damn that’s too bad, it’s never a good feeling when you pop the cap off and see stripped holes.
My great grandpa had one just like thag
Awesome video, J.R.! Looks like you’re making lots of progress in the Atomic Speed Garage! The transmission fit back into the tunnel much easier than I thought it would. Maybe by the time I get home you’ll have the body off of the ‘49. Great work!
Thanks Scott!! Yeah I can’t wait to get the chassis out and get to cleaning it up.
Yes sir thumbs up! BTW nice work shop wish I had something like that
Thanks brother!! Yeah we spend a lot of time out there it’s like our second home lol.
Looks great closer and closer buddy 👍
Thanks Dave much appreciated 🙌🏻
What kind of trans is that?
It’s a Silverado 4L60E transmission
It works, but it has to have other things where you can see gains. Not just off the rip.
For sure I put a Texas Speed “Chopacabra” camshaft Comp Cams valve springs 1 7/8” headers 102 mm throttle body and bigger injectors.
Having the same issue with my 2012 4500 HD
Damn man good luck I’m sure it’s harness related it almost always is.
Thanks man! I think it could be a harness issue or the BCM. Do those ever short out?
I love the new ride. Reminds me of my 06 Caprice. I miss that thing
Thanks man! Yup I love the big rear wheel drive V8 cars they ride so nice
Good to see you went with Murray kustom. I should have all mine Murray stuff this month.
That’s exciting I can’t wait to get started on mine. I’m pulling the body off soon.
Awesome video, J.R.! Anxious to see more.
Thanks Scott!!! 🙌🏻
Looking good Buddy Hang in there man nice looking Lincoln
Thanks Dave I appreciate it 🙌🏻
Sweet build! What pulley kit are you running? I have a 72 Nova with a 402, I’m digging those pulleys.
It’s a Gilmer belt drive here’s a link to a similar kit, you can get them through Summit Jegs eBay Amazon. www.ebay.com/itm/382423793188?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=FE_GRl6LQo-&sssrc=4429486&ssuid=Mlw_fzFESd2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
