II think I speak on behalf of most (if not all) your subscribers: we are so happy for you that your favorite brand of power-tools is sending you their latest stuff for a test-out, what a treat!
Hey Dean I'm a senior project manager in Product Development at Evolution, I've been with the company for 11 years and have been involved in design and development of most of the new ranges of tools, including this one. This is the best review I've seen so far, thanks for your comments I'm glad to hear from a satisfied customer, particularly the repairability as it is something we spend time on ensuring the machines can be easily serviced and repaired. A few points which I thought I'd add which might help. - When you fit the saw head assembly to the rails with the flat pack system 9:45, there are 2 cap screws just in front of the spring loaded pins now. We added these to a few saws we have designed more recently to just nip the rails tight into the machined holes in the head pivot block. We have to have a tolerance that allows the rails and pivot block to be fitted together by the end user so the additional screws just add some further rigidity and make the connection tighter. The cap screws can be tightened with the supplied allen key, won't need much just a nip up. This is something we will be adding to other saws to improve them. - This is the first time we have designed a saw to compete directly with the biggest names in the industry Yellow team, Teal team and Red team in particular. This drove many of the design decisions; Stainless mitre plate, larger base, Die cast extensions, bigger fences, large bevel markings and detents ect. Another area we really focused on was the dust collection as it is increasingly a higher prioirty for our end users, we really went down a rabbit hole on that, slow motion cameras set up and running loads of cuts and mapping dust tragectory and dispersion in CAD. We have optimised the dust collection skirt to work best on stud dimensions IE 2x ...... If when making cuts like 20:26 you pull the saw forward on the rails and cut the timber through from the corner nearest you and push the cut through to the fence, the cut channel formed by the kerf of the blade will shoot the dust directly up the dust port particularly when you have a vac attached. We got very impressive results when cutting this way to help with keeping work area tidy. Just a small change to how cuts are made makes a huge difference. - Your comments on the 10" blade are aboslutely true, particularly when going to larger 12" blades, we have had every competitors saw in, used them a lot and fully dissassembled them all over the couple of years we deisgned the saw. This was the reason we went 36V twin battery, single battery 18V saws just don't have enough power. Incidentally our saw has one of the largest cutting capacities of cordless double bevel saws available at this blade size, it actually has the same cut capacity as the NEW Flexvolt 12" machine which is more than double the price and much bigger and heavier. -This is another thing some competitors over looked, the weight. Being cordless means these saws are more portable and likely to be used places where corded ones aren't and so we have purposefully designed ours to be the lightest weight saw in it's class but also maintianing the strength and robustness expected. Thanks again for your review, I have one of these saws myself as I do a lot of DIY and work on house extensions with my old man and I must admit, it is by far the best saw we've designed to date by a long way so I'm happy to hear others who like it as well. thanks for the comment Will. I was actually more than impressed with this cordless miter and Im still impressed with it. Using it recently for a house renovation and I have to say its some job. Like you say, they weight is massive selling point. A lot of brands are going for to much aesthetics and try to make tools look big and powerful. Instead of making them powerful and manageable. The Dewalt flexvolt saw is simply a disaster and is riddled with problems. The makita 36v is also good, and has the power and the accuracy, but is simply a brut of saw. Far to heavy to the lugging up a flight of stairs. I have always been impressed with Evolution tools, especially the miter saws. But like you say, this is one is of higher class again. The effort you put in clearly shows. And it is good to see you are continuing to improve in the saw and address problems customers are asking about.

We've had really good feedback on it so far, I've had it on long term test with a few trademen I trust across different trades; carpenters, joiners, landscapers ect all with different types of work and environments. Many of which are usually DeWalt, Makita, Milwaukee users and they've all been impressed. The weight absolutely, particularly if you need to carry it up scaffolding doing roofing. Yeah I must admit I've never been a masive fan of DeWalt Mitresaws personally, we've got most of them in most sizes from around the world. The 250mm Flexvolt we bought in particular, the base and table bolt was done up so tight you couldn't turn it out of the box, the bevel mechanism had a terrible grinding down to poor machining, labels peeling off, die castings were a right mess not linished properly. It wasn't even bought with my money and I wanted to send it back, over £1000 that cost too. I like the makita saws when they are corded, they are lovely provided you get the ones with Stainless steel mitre plates and not the ali ones, if I had a work shop and had it permanently installed in a bench that would be the saw I'd go for but not a chance the cordless one, it weighs more than the sun. No way I'd be dragging that thing around. The 216mm 40V one on the other hand is an absolute beauty, that's been designed to be cordless from day one. We have a lot of domestic Japanese saws from Makita and Hitachi and they are some of the nicest you'll see, very well engineered, small compact, light weight but stupidly robust and not cheap either, some of the base diecastings look like engine blocks underneath they are that beefy, the 40V 216 reminds me of those saws. We are trying to push our quality up on the newer products we are designing, but we do struggle with the brands reputation of being 'cheap' sometimes but hopefully in the coming years we'll have more high end aimed products still at competetive prices when you compare to other products in their class. We are only a small team of 5 in product development in Sheffield so it all takes time to get these products done right.
Much respect to you Dean for real but you transporting that pile of big lumber in that tiny little car is hilarious. Used a few different Evolution tools on a couple commercial sites I was on and they seemed to be tough and reliable. Cordless tools and especially the battery systems have come a long way since I was young.
Hello again Dean, I think you were spot on with the armature - took it apart today and the windings were completely black, not a hint of copper in sight. I've got one ordered for this Wednesday and will post how i get on. On a side note, Makita don't list a switch in the catalogue for this saw although they do list everything else. Thank you for your invaluable help.
Great video. Vacuum looked like it was on point. It was good to see the system used to make a very sturdy bench with decent challenging cuts. Battery packs looked strong enough to keep the power flowing on the toughest of cuts. Please review it again in 6 to 12 months so we can see how it stands up to your expectations.
I have a dc300+ and I abuse it daily, when it breaks I send it back and they fix it. There customer service is really good to better than any other I’ve come across👍
Dean, the Project Farm channel did a test of all the name-brand carbide tip circ saw all-purpose/demo blades, and Evolution's blade won. They beat DeWalt, Milwaukee, Bosch, and even Amana. They were also one of the least expensive blades in the test ($12 vs. $42 for the Amana). Because of that test I bought a few, along with their 10" table saw blades, and they are impressive. Great review and some great craftmanship right there. I like how you put the machines into use rather then just a general overview. Never heard of the brand, but they seem to be worth their money and a great alternative for people not having to buy the over expensive big brands (which might not even be better at all)
Woodworking Beginner: New - Update. This test is only if you want to saw with precision with a miter saw.(test is not intended for rough and hard work). Tips and Test: Read this first before you buying a miter saw! It's better to know than not to know. Important to know if you would like to saw with precision. (avoid torsion as much as possible)! Always choose a Miter saw with a handle positioned in a VERTICAL line above the saw blade. Everything must be aligned, slide rails, handle, and saw blade,it is much better this way the blade will not tilt. Because there is some torsion in the aluminum housing . And choose an engine with softstart on it to prevent wear of the gear and worm shaft. It is very important that everything is aligned. Here are some examples to show how the handle must be positioned above the blade. First option: handle vertical positioned above the saw blade. Bosch gcm 800 sj / Bosch gcm 8 sjl / Evolution rage 3 / FESTOOL KS 60 / Bosch GCM 8 SDE / FESTOOL KS 60 E KAPEX / Metabo KGSV 72 Xact/ Bosch PCM 8 SD / Hitachi C10FSH / Ridgid MS255SR 10-inch / Evolution Fury3-S / Evolution R255SMS / Metabo HPT C10FSBS / Hitachi C10FSB / Hitachi C10FS. Second optie: handle horizontal positioned above the saw blade / Evolution R185SMS / Evolution F255SMS / Evolution RAGE3R255 SMS3 . (This also is the case with the Miter saw without the slide rails). (If you want). You can test it yourself at home if there is torsion in the aluminum housing. Step-1. First you make a saw cut from +-5 mm deep in to a flat piece of wood about +- 20 mm thick to this with the normal handle positioned on the right side of the Miter saw (the wood it will remain in place until the test is completed). Step-2. Then repeat this by pushing the saw blade down with your hand or finger on the aluminum protective cover were the saw blade is cased in. Just now only do this without the running engine. Step-3. Now you can see if the saw blade will be positioned in or next to the saw cut. If the saw blade is (+- 0,2 / 0,5 mm) next to the saw cut then there is torsion in the aluminum housing. (test is completed). Conclusion: Therefor it is much better to choose a Miter saw with the handle positioned VERTICAL in line above the saw blade. The second option is the handle positioned HORIZONTAL in line above the saw blade. Remember this, the test is only about torsion and nothing else how further away the handle is from the saw blade how more chance of torsion in the aluminum housing, you better not go for that. (the choices are yours). Also with a cheap slide miter saw it is still better the handgriff in line a above the saw blade than on the right side. Maybe they will make it someday then we have a winner... P.S. When you measure the vertical 90 degrees angle square (Digital Level Box) of you're sawblade don't forget that there is always some torsion in the aluminum housing..
I still have my old DeWalt and I was thinking about upgrading it and you might be the reason I go to an evolution even though I’ve been using the Dewalt for years. It is a little bulky and a little bit heavy, but the old girl still cut, fall off the stand more than once. got one busted foot on it and still works
The head lookex a little wobbly wjen you first put it on. Many dewalt features there. I have no problem cutting through treated timber. I had an evolution elu saw bit didnt have the power.
I can speak to this I have the r210sms and it's about 6 years old now the only thing I hated was the stickers on the main deck also like to see that thay have made the swing deck a lot more smooth to rotate and now its battery powered ill be getting one
Very good review, and a great build of that heavy duty bench. It would appear that Evolution Power Tools is UK 🇬🇧 centric, looking at both the USA 🇺🇸 web site's and the UK 🇬🇧, they offer different items. Year's ago I bought into the Bosch 36v line, their 36v circular saw and their 36v sds hammer drill are quite good. Only issue is they've discontinued everything but the 36v hammer drill. That said I've been looking for a new system for both concrete and carpentry, have not been overly impressed with Dewalt, Milwaukee, Rigid, Bosch as of late. About the only manufacturer that looks promising is Makita especially in the state's. Perhaps Evolution will update it's USA 🇺🇸 website to mirror what is available in the UK 🇬🇧. They look quite good. That was a epic tool review. Not only did you do an unboxing, an assembly, a set-up, and last byt not least an actual serious use of the saw! That's such a nice, super sturdy bench you made there! You should publish the plan specs so we could attempt to reproduce the masterpiece you made. Although i dont know that all those bigger dimentions of pressure treated lumber are readily available in the US & other places around the world. I've got the evolution concrete saw, love it but they make a bespoke blade size one inch. Smaller than the other brand name blade supplier's. Going to have to take the guard off if i want to use standard size blades or pay beaucoup bucks for a blade that's impossible to find. But all around good value for the money. Paid for itself on the first Alan block wall. Evolution seems to be taking quality tool design at a lower price seriously.
Hello again Dean, fitted the new field today and immediately blew one of the brush holder coils out. This saw is turning into a bit of a pain. I,m going to try a new switch relay and looks like i've got to buy another field. I have also heard that the soft start circuit may be at fault - in addition the baffle plate and 2 special washers are missing from where the armature seats into the motor housing. It looks like the person that so called "repaired" this saw before didn't have a clue what they were doing. Do you think i am on the right track with my findings?
Hello Dean, wondered if you can help. I have a 240 Volt Makita 2740X Table Saw that keeps blowing fuses after a few seconds of running. Apparently the Armature has just been replaced and it is still happening. Would you have any suggestions? Any help is really appreciated.
Always been a fan of Evolution kit. Get some snarky buggers on sites sometimes who are all team blue or yellow, but ya can’t hear em when you’re cutting, and these little beauty’s will cut anything. Any road, the most impressive part of the whole video was all that timber in a Yaris. Fair play to ya, lad.
Erbauer must be the same as them because the battery’s look identical to the one there on box image plus the Erbauer use 18v EXT battery’s just different colours
Funny you mention that, I had the same issue but picked up an adapter ring in Donegal Fixings which is where Dean there works. Allowed me to use 30mm bore blades which I found easier to source
“Nice, simple and reliable” Dean, so you say that a Bluetooth-enabled vacuum with subscription filters is not for you, then? 😂 Aside, Bluetooth is the world’s greatest yet most abused invention. I’m sure you can buy Bluetooth toilet seats somewhere. That and the blue LEDs.
They are not an accurate cut i sent 2 back there is slight side to side movement and there wasn't and any adjustment to correct it but ok for site use nothing else
Hi dean need your expertise I have a power craft 3 inch belt sander PBS-950 I think Aldi sold them years ago need some brushes for it have searched for the model but no luck any ideas or what will fit would help grately

I can speak to this I have the r210sms and it's about 6 years old now the only thing I hated was the stickers on the main deck also like to see that thay have made the swing deck a lot more smooth to rotate and now its battery powered ill be getting one

Very good review, and a great build of that heavy duty bench.
It would appear that Evolution Power Tools is UK 🇬🇧 centric, looking at both the USA 🇺🇸 web site's and the UK 🇬🇧, they offer different items.
Year's ago I bought into the Bosch 36v line, their 36v circular saw and their 36v sds hammer drill are quite good. Only issue is they've discontinued everything but the 36v hammer drill.
That said I've been looking for a new system for both concrete and carpentry, have not been overly impressed with Dewalt, Milwaukee, Rigid, Bosch as of late. About the only manufacturer that looks promising is Makita especially in the state's.
Perhaps Evolution will update it's USA 🇺🇸 website to mirror what is available in the UK 🇬🇧. They look quite good.

That was a epic tool review. Not only did you do an unboxing, an assembly, a set-up, and last byt not least an actual serious use of the saw! That's such a nice, super sturdy bench you made there! You should publish the plan specs so we could attempt to reproduce the masterpiece you made. Although i dont know that all those bigger dimentions of pressure treated lumber are readily available in the US & other places around the world. But we could make changes accordingly to suit our wood availability. Once again, cool bench build, & good times man!👍🏻👌🏻🛠️🗜️🔧🔩📐🔌🔋⚡⚠️🦺
I want to see the brushless DC motor in the evolution cordless mitre saw.
I've got the evolution concrete saw, love it but they make a bespoke blade size one inch. Smaller than the other brand name blade supplier's. Going to have to take the guard off if i want to use standard size blades or pay beaucoup bucks for a blade that's impossible to find. But all around good value for the money. Paid for itself on the first Alan block wall. Evolution seems to be taking quality tool design at a lower price seriously.
Would be nice of the vacuum would run when the saw is powered on

Hello again Dean, fitted the new field today and immediately blew one of the brush holder coils out. This saw is turning into a bit of a pain.
I,m going to try a new switch relay and looks like i've got to buy another field.
I have also heard that the soft start circuit may be at fault - in addition the baffle plate and 2 special washers are missing from where the armature seats into the motor housing.
It looks like the person that so called "repaired" this saw before didn't have a clue what they were doing.
Do you think i am on the right track with my findings?

That exact machine was used for all the second fix & kitchen in my parents self-build and the finish is as good as any I've seen.
What brand of sanding belt do you use?

I have a 240 Volt Makita 2740X Table Saw that keeps blowing fuses after a few seconds of running.
Apparently the Armature has just been replaced and it is still happening. Would you have any suggestions?

Sounds like it is the field, but could also be the switch.
Take a look at the field, if it's melted or burnt or discoloured at all, replace it.

Always been a fan of Evolution kit. Get some snarky buggers on sites sometimes who are all team blue or yellow, but ya can’t hear em when you’re cutting, and these little beauty’s will cut anything. Any road, the most impressive part of the whole video was all that timber in a Yaris. Fair play to ya, lad.
He’s got a tow hitch on it as well.
Shame they didn't go with Metabo CAS or Bosch AMPShare for their battery system. Those would've been a lot more common.

The only fault with the Evolution chopsaw in my eyes is the blade bore size 25.4 I find it hard to get reasonably priced blade for it
Funny you mention that, I had the same issue but picked up an adapter ring in Donegal Fixings which is where Dean there works. Allowed me to use 30mm bore blades which I found easier to source

No for transporting you want the table saw to compact up, You don't want to be taking bits of equipment off.. incase you loose them during transport.
i had the 230v evolution stationary circular saw..was okish ..but they dont feel professional ..not even by a bit..price also is reflecting it

They are not an accurate cut i sent 2 back there is slight side to side movement and there wasn't and any adjustment to correct it but ok for site use nothing else

Hi dean need your expertise I have a power craft 3 inch belt sander PBS-950 I think Aldi sold them years ago need some brushes for it have searched for the model but no luck any ideas or what will fit would help grately
