Most jobs have some kind of fringe benefits and you being a reviewer of tools entitles you to a very nice assortment of some really cool woodworking tools like the Evolution 10 Inch Dual Bevel Slider Miter Saw ....awesome !
True Michael. Getting free tools is a very cool benefit! Truth is the channel makes a very modest amount of money (and only since Aug) and everything made so far has been reinvested in the channel. Video equipment, testing equipment, shop upgrades and buying tools to review. If I had bought everything we've reviewed so far we'd still be in the red and I would really be questioning whether it was worth continuing. That said it's been a really fun and rewarding experience and that's almost entirely because of all you folks. Thanks as always!
I'm glad you got one with a flat table. The rotating part of mine was a tad proud of the left fixed table. I couldn't find any way to adjust it so I put 2 layers of duct tape on it to fix it. Other that the saw performs well. I purchased it to cut some painted 3x3 11 gauge tubing and it worked great.
I bought the Hercules 12" dual bevel miter saw I got it for $319. I was going to get the Hercules table saw. But I bought the Skil one because it can hold a dado and it came with a built in stand. The Skil was also $50 cheaper but the stand was the main reason I bought it.
I pulled that Hercules table saw out of the box a couple hours ago. Vid soon. Spoiler: I think you made a smart decision. We’ll get to that Hercules chop saw soon as ppl seem to really like it. Thanks for watching Dan!!
Bosch Gravity stand is the way to go. It was more expensive than the hercules table saw($250) when I bought it, but so worth it when packing up after a long day.
I was going to buy DeWalt DWS780 until Herc came out, waited a year went to store to inspect both and watched countless videos. Couldn’t see a reason why I would spend almost double for yellow saw so bought Herc. Several years later glad i went that route, that saw was spot on out of box, very accurate and powerful motor.
Those are some pretty clean cuts without tear out for not having a zero clearance insert. That's pretty impressive. Also what kind of warranty does it come with
@@ProjectsForAllReviews a dual purpose tool, sure enough, makes a small shop a bit more efficient. Keep up the great content. Hey, I know you live in Chicago Land, I'm thinking with your voice, you could be the Cubbies announcer.

If only the evolution table saw, the Rage 5s was as good - if they sorted the fence and accuracy issues. Close, very close, but not the outstanding saw it could be with a little more attention to detail. I've bought the 10 inch single bevel slider, maybe I'll buy the Rage 5 and find ways to make it the rigid, accurate saw it could be. Sigh. Very helpful review, especially on the adjustments, thank you.
Evolutions out of the UK so probably better availability in Europe than most of the stuff I review. Wish I was going back to Italy this year…maybe next year. Thanks for watching!!
How the heck is this a "great review" when ZERO testing was done on deflection at full slide extension, actually putting a square on cuts, looking at accuracy/repeatability of bevels?
Thank you for the review! I happened to be looking for a miter saw as my current one cant cut 90, no matter how many times I adjusted the fence and bevel. Were you able to get consistent 90 degree cuts with this miter saw?
I was always interested in the Evolution saw as they came out from my home country, the UK. I'm just getting back into woodworking after selling all my tools when I separated. I might opt for one of these. It seems easy to set up and I'll keep the factory blade for those odd jobs.
I’m very happy with this saw Patrick. It has all the functionality I need for the home shop. The capacity to rip a 2x12 board and the ability to cut almost any metal all with the same blade. If I was still doing remodeling I’d probably go with a 12 inch DeWALT. Thanks for watching!
This compact one covers most everything I would cut in my home shop, wood and metal without changing blades and so far I love it. For day use remodeling I would take the 12 inch DeWALT over this but that’s not my gig anymore. Thanks for watching!
Can you review the jet miter saw, I have looked everywhere and can’t seem to find one, well I actually did but in a foreign language and well I couldn’t translate
For me it's so funny that so many reviews and most of the people don't even bother to test how does these saw keep the angle at maximum slide or what is deviation from max width to the start point. I have this saw and that part sucks the most. It's deviation of 2mm on maximum width from start point which is not easy to fix.
Its weird....i looked and evolution doesnt seem to offer a 12 inch sliding miter saw. They do have a 12 inch miter chop saw but it doesn't slide. Did i miss it or do they really not have one?
I agree. Had too much fun finding things to cut and should have just done accuracy in this one. Should have another vid soon with this saw. Thanks for watching!
@@ProjectsForAllReviews I,ve just seen a Tip For getting a good mitre cut with the Evolution you stick an Electronic angle gauge on the blade put the angel to 45.0' D &try 45.01D see which you Like.
Didn't hear a mention of the RPM of the saw. I have their metal cutting saw and it runs at a slower RPM by design for metal cutting. It will cut just about anything but I only use it for metal. The blade teeth you showed that comes with it looks just like their low RPM metal cutting blade. Works good, just don't make the mistake of trying to cut hardened steel, cold rooled or you can kiss the teeth on the blade goodbye. Been-there-done-that
I picked up my DWS780 for almost $100 less than the 779 on sale. The differences are enough that I woudl have still bought the 780 even if I had to pay $100 more than the 779.
Just a bit annoyed that i bought an earlier model. This one seems to have ironed out all of the niggles… Watch out for models where the motor is fitted lower down because it catches on the work clamp or any work that you want to add extra clamps to.
I haven’t used that saw yet but we’ll get to it eventually. I’m staring at the Hercules table saw as we speak. Should have that vid soon. Thanks for watching!
@@Burris19D I ended up buying the new kobalt ts602 jobsite saw with rack and pinion fence. For the money its ok but if doing work that needs precision it doesn't hold up. Just bought a ridgid R4520 from an old timer for cheap. Table is level and fence is perfect so i'll make do with that for awhile
I haven’t figured out the dado yet. Looks long enough for maybe 1/2-5/8 but has a huge washer on the outside of the blade. Owners manual is nonsense with zero calibrations or real info. Looks like I’m wingin this one.
I do have a complaint about this saw, and it's perhaps just a unique issue - the metal is not the best quality. Within a few months of owning it I could not get the blade off, the screw had completely locked up. After using an impact wrench and destroying the entire blade assembly we found that it had rusted, somehow.
That's crazy! We've had a lot of rain/flooding over the last month and it's been very humid here. I'll keep an eye on my saw, it's in the non-air conditioned shop. If I get any rust I'll throw a post out. Thanks for the heads up and for watching!
The four things preventing me from buying this saw: 1) Non 0 clearance in back (cannot put up against wall, takes up a lot of space in back), laser line vs shadow line (dummy proof), bevel adjustment clunky (still need to loosen from back), dust collection appears to be horrible. The insertion plate looks horrible and does not appear to have a way to screw it down. Other than that this is a good upgrade from previous models. I am glad it is 10". Dust collection sucks.
I agree Troy those are all legit concerns. This vid is the second time in my life I’ve used a chop saw indoors! First time was the DeWALT vid on the channel. The dust collection always sucks. This one was exceptionally bad but the 15 year old Ridgid vac with the clogged filter probably didn’t help either. Thanks for watching!
Fifth reason: availability of spare parts. Evolution is a weird brand. I once owned a table saw (Rage 5s), needed some spares, contacted the importer in Europe, they forced me to explain them where I bought the table saw, and at last they told me I only could order the spares If I also ordered a new saw blade 😂 what?? The only alternative was buying spareparts at Power Tools Centre in the UK which is expensive due to extra import costs. Better choose the common “A” brands!
I’ll check the link and change if needed when I get home but searching Amazon it’s $349 and on Prime. I did see that Hercules is on sale. Might go grab it. Thanks for watching!
That's an awful of of plastic. I would guess the only reason you are impressed by this is that your last saw was a Ryobi. That dust collection was absolutely awful. It didn't look like it picked any of the dust up. My Dewalt doesn't have great dust collection, but it's much better than that.
That’s fair. Anything adjustable is better. I just double checked, no adjustment. The detent bar is held on by one bolt at its pivot so easy to replace if I ever wear it out. One of my favorite parts about the comments is finding out what I missed! Thanks for watching!!
