I think the coolest thing about Gigalith is that in Black and White, you could trade a Boldore for an Emolga, and then in BW2, you could go back to that same NPC and trade an Emolga for a Gigalith, providing one of the only ways to use a fully evolved trade evolution Pokémon in a solo playthrough

I only just started binging the channel but I absolutely love your presentation style for these videos! Very confident and quick, snappy and informative, and this video is no exception, great work!
Do we do suggestions here? Bc Ive noticed something I would find really helpful - whenever youre talking about a pokemon that outclasses the focus of the video, like Rhyperior with Gigalith, it would be nice if you had a little stat spread for that pokemon as well somewhere to compare the two, to give more context to your explanation. But if not thats fine! Keep up the good work

i wasnt very good at all cause i was 13, but i liked how gigalith looked so i threw him on my team and he was a mainstay until gen 6 came out and i stopped being serious about comp

Gigalith was part of my best singles team on anything goes in pokemon showdown. Everyone assumed he was a stealth rock setter with little damage output, so they were real surprised when they got hit with a 600 attack choice band explosion or stone edge that could sometimes straight up kill pokemon who resisted it.

I feel like you kinda skimmed over Gigalith’s role in Gen 8 Vgc, which makes sense bc of the pandemic there are no tourney results for it, but Gigalith would play a huge role in the early series, even overtaking Ttar as the premier Sand setter, for multiple reasons. Firstly it enabled the team comp known as SandRoom very well, being able to have both a fast sand rush mode with Excadril, one of the best dynamax mon in the early meta, and a slow Trick Room mode made you very hard to play against as you forced your opponent to make a read in team preview. Gigalith was preferred over Tyranitar in this role for multiple reasons. Firstly, having one of the lowest speed stats in the game combined with its amazing attack made it both you sand setter for your Sand Rush mode and your sweeper for your Trick Room mode. Secondly was its 130 defense stat combined with its access to Body Press, which not only allowed it to hard counter Ttar and Excadril in the mirror, but also gave it access to Max Knuckle to further increase its sweeping potential, something Ttar didnt have the room for in its sets unless it wanted to give up its Ground coverage or one of its Stabs. Lastly, even if you opted out of the SandRoom team comp, the biggest counter to Sand when they used Ttar was Trick Room, which Gigalith countered.

  • @gio9255

Gigalith is one of my favorite mons design wise. While its stats are great on paper its incredibly hard to use even when it got Sand Stream. It's lack of reliable recovery, vulnerability to hazards and status, and low speed made its exploitable weaknesses even easier to chip away at. Garganacl and Coalossal are far superior rock types thanks to their unique abilities, unmatched utility, and formers access to reliable recover and immunity to status. Gigalith deserves a buff in a new regional variant with dual typing and access to recover. The fact so many defensive rock types lack reliable recovery is truly tragic.

Ah yes, Gigalith. Known for three important roles:
*Having poorly posed official art that made many people think its frontmost spike was a large nose.
*Association with a Dragon-type trainer for some reason.
*Being the only Pokémon referred to by name in _Foxtrot._
